First off, I picked this Walgreens for all of my pharmacy needs after the nearby CVS dropped the ball on way too many occasions. This Walgreens was great for awhile despite taking your life into your own hands parking in the lot and dealing with the gauntlet of POS beggars and derelicts on the walkway. Staff has become totally useless, they would rather hoot and holler with their costumer fields. This place gets one star basically due to the pharmacy. The staff has become outright nasty. The tech was mad because she had to repeat herself twice as she mumbled through a mask and plexiglass COVID sneeze guard. Jie was her name. Just really nasty and not nice at all! read more

Based on my experience over the last three years that I've lived in Bridgeport, you have about a 50/50 chance that this Walgreens will actually receive the prescription that your doctor sent. Today the pharmacist literally told me "Always bring a paper copy" because "you can't rely on the system". I've just wasted half my day waiting on a prescription and playing messenger for them. On my way in I noticed the usual activity of hanging outside of the door, however I noticed the manager walking out and telling them to move along. As I said in one of my previous reviews, I had a senior approach me and ask to be walked in, feeling uneasy is sad. Also props to the cashier working last night, she informed me of a separate points program for beauty products that include not only makeup but body lotions and other items in that department. In addition to the manufactures coupon, and the sale, plus the 5$ off, I saved quite a bit. I like to save some bucks, doesn't everyone. Now if only they can keep the pharmacy open past 5p on the weekend, or at least Saturday, I'd be a fan. Keep up the good work! read more

Oh my goodness. I stopped here to pick up a tube of adhesive dental paste. There were two boxes of my brand--both OPENED. The boxes were opened. Please keep this in mind. I pressed the "customer assistance" button. I was met by a 30-something Asian gentleman with a somewhat sloppy appearance and no name tag. I asked him if there were any boxes which were not opened. "Um, that's all there is, I think," he said. I handed him the boxes. "Okay, well, these have been opened, so you're probably going to want to take them off the shelf," I said. Because, you know, safety and LAWSUITS and all that... He gave me the blankest look I have ever seen, and handed the boxes back to me. Um....ooookay.... "All right, then, I guess I'll just put these OPENED boxes back on the shelf. Because I'm sure someone ELSE will want to buy them!" I said. I put them down, and as I walked away, I said "Apparently it's okay to sell unsealed packages now!" His response?? "I only work here one day a week, boss." As if THAT somehow MEANT something!! I don't have a problem with that at all.But even time I come up here there iare folks sitting and standing right outside the door begging for money and it's annoying that they do nothing about them hanging. for people to count your money at the door of an establishment and to pull out money in the streets is dangerous. read more

So I ask an employee, "excuse me, do you have a bathroom" and he snarkily replied "No, we all go shit at McDonald's" implying not even they can use it. Don't cuss at me. This is a review based on their systems. As far as stocking goes, it seems well stocked, and I prefer to go to drugstores on the south side because of the ease of finding parking. I made an appointment through my app to get an MMR vaccine here. Upon arriving I was notified that they didn't take appointments, so they weren't ready for me (even though I got an appointment confirmation in my email the day before). I was made to wait about 10 minutes before they called me up to do the paperwork. Once it was filled out I took a seat again. Five minutes later, I was informed they didn't have the mixing powder to dilute the vaccine. Not all Walgreens offer vaccine services, but it seems like the ones that do, should be well stocked. Furthermore, don't participate in software that says it allows scheduling, when you don't follow that system as a store branch. read more

Very disrespectful manager treat customers like children:(( We came to this Walgreens for my girlfriend's foreign passport photos during weekend. 2 copies of physical and its digital file are needed. The photo lady was very nice and told us it's up to her manager to give the digital file and recommended us coming back after Monday so that we can speak with the manager. Well, okay. We went back and met the manager later days and told her we were willing to pay extra if needed for the digital photo. She responded us, no, she shut us up whenever she could with very bossy tone as if she's educating some naive kids. "No... we don't have the digital... there's no way to make copy of the digital from the camera memory card.. we don't have the digital file, but if you need more copies we can make more prints for you..if there's a way I'd be more than happy to give you the digital file...we can go back and forth but the answer is still a no, we are not able to do that we don't have the file..." What do you think yelp users? If it's a store policy that Walgreens don't sell the digital, okay, I'd totally respect and accept the answer. just tell me so. Or, say, If we still lived in 2002 and many people would have hard time to copy paste a photo file from camera to USB drives, I would buy her answer too. However, this bossy arrogant pre-determined answer just won't fly in 2022. Everything she said was to send the customer out of her counter as quickly as possible. Actually, I had an usb dive and all kinds of memory card adaptor with me when I went to the store. If she allowed me, I could make a copy of digital photo right there on my phone in 30 seconds. As a customer, I ended up feeling forced to accept her childish lie and attitude, and pretended to be convinced that Walgreens does not have the capability to make a digital copy for us. This is the worst Walgreens I've ever been to. The loiterers out front are at best slightly annoying and at worst all-out offensive. The parking lot is a nightmare and there's no bike parking. The pharmacy always has a line and doesn't open until 9 am, which is inconvenient for those of us with office jobs. I'll be transferring my prescription to the McKinley Park Walgreens because I would rather drive out of my way to avoid the mess that is this Walgreens. If I never go here again I wouldn't be mad. Walked in to pick up some over-the-counter medication as I was running low, to my expectation and not knowing what had happen prior to me walking to the front looking for the manager to open the plastic case that held my medication in isle 26. I saw the manager "Rosa" just for a few seconds screaming pretty loud to a customer who was on his way out the door "Go and contact corporate, I don't care!'. I paused and waited for her to finish and I said "Excuse me". Now at this time, that customer was already exited out of the store. I said again, "Excuse me". She turned her attention to me and said in an high tone "I heard you once already as I was talking to a customer - Did you not see me talking to a customer? I looked at her and said "Are you done?" not once but three times and she calmed down. Then I told her as she stared at me, I just need you to open the plastic case on isle 26. She said lead the way. She followed me to isle 26 and all I did was just point to the item behind the case and she said that the item will be at the cashier. I got to the counter and she was standing there talking to the cashier. I just paid and left the store. I did not even try to talk to Rosa and at that point, I thought of just leaving and going across the street to the CVS and spending my $20 there. I reported this event to Walgreen's corporate on my survey and suggest she takes some additional customer service training courses to be a little more polite to all customers and learn to diffuse any irate situations as she is the manager of that store and she leads by example. read more

This is just ridiculous. I've never have this much issues picking up medications from a pharmacy. I've been going back and forth trying to get the medications together for my parent. Finally, thought it is done but lo behold it's not. I got the medication and the label stapled outside of the bag is what we need. But when I got home and opened up the bag, the medication inside is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT medication. What in the mess is this?! I tried calling the pharmacy and was told they are on break for 30mins. So I had to go back to the pharmacy and get it straighten out. When I got there, they are definitely not on break. When I confronted the pharmacy staff, I was told that central does the medication packing, send it off to the pharmacy, and they just "put it in the bins". I asked if they check what's inside before putting it in the bins and I was told they don't double check what's inside the bag before placing it in the bins. This is not even professional!!! I understand you guys are busy, but if something happens...it all comes back to you. Also, not everyone understands these medications or is literate. People die from taking the wrong medication. If you expect the patients/customers to do their part, you need to do yours too. Whatever you give them, they trust that you are doing your job and giving the correct medications. This is so concerning and very disappointing! I grew up around this area and never in my life thought I would have to worry if my parents are getting the correct medication from the pharmacy. This was my go to Walgreens when I use to live in the neighborhood. The area a few years back was sketchy, but seems to be better now. They have the Starbucks K-cups locked up and the security guard had to help me get them and he didn't seem too pleased. Still an older Walgreens compared to all the other ones in Chicago. This place is fucked. It is very uncommon for me to find an individual store so horrible that I find myself avoiding the chain itself, but this Walgreens has somehow managed that feat. The pharmacy is just, intolerable. Dropping off a prescription has taken me over an hour. And that's long after I've given up on them to fill it while I'm waiting. On more than one occasion they've told me it'll be 15 minutes, and an hour later when I wait in line again and ask the status, they just grab the prescription that's been sitting there the whole time and hand it to me. On top of that, I once tried to fill a prescription a couple weeks early as I was leaving town for a month. They denied it and "red flagged" my account. Basically accusing me of writing my own prescriptions. After an embarrassing verbal argument and calls to my doctor, there was not even an apology. So why do I still get my prescriptions filled at Walgreens? Because the incident above led me to call their corporate office, and receive a card that has a huge discount on prescriptions for life. The store hasn't changed though. The last time I walked in, I looked at the lines and the mess, and just walked out and drove to a different one. Pro tip: They will tow your car while you wait for prescriptions. This place is fucked. read more

The manager seems to favor hiring ONLY her own race rather than keeping a healthy blend to what our community actually reflects. 1 White; 1 Asian; 0 Latina/Latino; 20 Blacks. Are you serious?! This has been slowing going on now for over 3 years. It's so obvious. REALLY? Boo. Hiss. Furthermore, Bill is the nicest gentleman that I ever met. Bill is a joy to have working at Walgreens, although I don't see him anymore, I do hope he still works there. He is so friendly and welcoming. Manager brought in alcohol which we DID NOT need and then raised all of the prices in the store to help pay for her liquor license. While this may not be the BEST Walgreens out there, they've come through for me on numerous occasions when the one specific thing I needed was easily located, attained and purchased here. Perhaps it's the medication talking, but I had a very pleasant experience here today that I felt deserved a full review - especially since my day today involved a root canal that was highly unpleasant and the last of my numbness was slowly wearing off as I waited for my prescription. The pharmacists there were very polite and helpful, answered my random dumbass questions (I'm really not much for medicines, so on the rare event that I have to take them, I'm pretty much clueless) and were able to process everything and get me my pills in like 15 minutes. Again, I don't know how good that is compared to whatever, but I found it to be helpful in the midst of a crappy day, and I don't know about the previous reviewer, but everyone I talked to was all smiles and helpfulness. My only complaint about this Walgreens is that they allow a drove of panhandlers to loiter outside the store to harass every customer who enters and leaves. Maybe if they had someone coming out every hour or so to rustle the bums away and make their patrons feel safer about shopping there, they'd earn that 5th star. I am eligible for a 3rd dose of the Covid vaccine. According to its own website Walgreen's will administer this 3rd dose even without a doctor's note. I went to this (Bridgeport) Walgreen's after being turned away from my usual Walgreen's in Chinatown because I needed the Pfizer (and Chinatown was administering only Moderna). Because my original vaccination card went through the washing machine and was destroyed, I went to this Walgreen's with a sheet from Illinois' "vax verify" database indicating my earlier vaccinations, a copy of my original CDC vaccination card, and a print out of a MyChart message from my doctor saying that I was recommended for a 3rd dose. The pharmacy assistant at the desk was polite, but when I couldn't show her my original vaccination card, she went to speak to the pharmacist. I was told that they could not administer a 3rd dose to me and that I should go back to my original provider. I wound up leaving this Walgreen's and contacting my doctor again, who said that I should not have been turned away, and that that was unacceptable. He called this Walgreen's on my behalf, and they claimed that they didn't know why I had been turned away. In the meantime, though, I decided to try a different Walgreen's (the one at 3405 S. King Dr.). The pharmacist there was very polite and accommodating, and I was able to receive my 3rd dose with no difficulty. She also provided me with a replacement vaccination card. I don't think that I will ever go to the Walgreen's at 30th and Halsted again!!! (And btw, the Bronzeville Walgreen's is very bright, clean, and orderly.) read more

There's this rude Chinese worker here (I think her name is Alice) and she provided horrible service. My mom asked her a few questions in Chinese (Cantonese) and she claimed that she doesn't speak it (in English). She looked mad when we approached her again. She did not want to help us. She had the worst face expression. She looked like she didn't want us to shop there. Then, my mom was looking at lipsticks. My mom just took one of them and was looking at them closely.. and she approached us saying "you can't open it" IN CANTONESE!!!!! FIRST of all, my mom was NOT trying to open it. She was LOOKING at colors of the lipstick. And SECONDLY, SHE LIED! She said she "DOESNT know Cantonese" but she's over telling my mom that she can't open the lipstick in CANTONESE. And it wasn't like broken Cantonese, it was decent. -- I went to that Walgreens again. And I bought two bottles of shampoo. I went to the checkout line and paid for the items. As I was approaching the automatic door, the same rude girl yelled "HEY DID YOU PAY? LET ME SEE YOUR RECEIPT." She was basically accusing me of stealing the items that I just bought/paid. I cannot believe. Did she not see me walking from the checkout direction?? I cannot believe she asked me to see the receipt like if I was stealing it. And she didn't even say sorry after she checked my receipt. -- But anyways, I think she has to work somewhere else... but with her rudeness and bad attitude she provides, I don't think people will hire her. Been going to this Walgreens for over 20yrs they had great poeple here but for last 5yrs it got worst..managers are realy rud..they open when they want to..most of time they never open on time.its dirty all the time..when u ask for help they give a sarcastic remark..when i call the corporate to complain bout the ruddness of there managers..seems that the cooperate doesn't even care bout there customers either..ive call them them few times in last 2yrs bout how rud there managers are..but nothng got done..same mangers still there giving dirty looks..so now i go to CVS thats bout block away..very nice people there..they greet u at door..very helpfull when ask for..the way walgreens is being run it will be shut down hopefully soon..its just very sad how the main cooperate doesn't care bout there customer being treated read more

AWFUL PHARMACY! The Walgreens store itself is fine and they have some exceptional employees, but the pharmacy is horrendous. I recently transferred my prescriptions to this Walgreen from a different Walgreen online. I received an automated call that my insurance suddenly didn't work and that I would be receiving a call to resolve the issue. I didn't get a call back and decided to just walk in with my insurance. I waited nearly 20 minutes in line and lo and behold they said they accept it. Then they said I had to wait an hour for a prescription that I had ordered days prior. I had work and said I would return the next day. When I went back, they said they didn't have my prescription as they didn't have the medicine. Their stoic emotionless faces didn't show a shred of responsibility. Shame on them. read more

Nice, clean and spacious Walgreens with decent employees and their fiber cereal was on sale one week, so I was a pretty happy gal. However, if you want to avoid random people in front of the place asking for money and just hanging around, don't come here. There is always a panhandler outside the store. The inside of the store is well lit, and the makeup selection is pretty large. They also have a refrigerated section by the register offering sushi and sandwiches and a few bougie things that normal Walgreens don't have. Once in awhile like near Mother's Day, they have fresh flowers and balloons. The pharmacists here are all pretty efficient and competent. I prefer Walgreens to the CVS around the corner. read more

I'm a 56 year old with multiple medical necessities, I've been to many Walgreens pharmacies in the past and I must say this Pharmacy staff always gives me fast ,accurate and outstanding service . My doctor often sends my prescriptions to another pharmacy ‍I guess her computer has a glitch but as I go to this pharmacy the staff fixes the error and tells me to wait they will fill my order I wait not more than 15 minutes my order is done . I am frustrated with this Walgreens. I am aware that my home number is probably listed with them; However, Walgreens should not be discussing my prescription with someone other than myself. My dad picked up the phone and he has a manly voice, so there is no mistaking him for me. The fact that they were specific with the medication name makes me angry because I am the only person that knows I am taking the medication. Luckily, my dad didn't remember what medication they said. I feel like what they did was a breach of my privacy and I believe illegal. I am on my own insurance and over 18 years old. I do not understand why they would do that. I have had previous positive experiences with them, but because my parents could have found out, I will be filing a customer complaint to corporate. read more

This location lacks the frills of its downtown counterpart, but it's to be expected being a neighborhood location and all. The parking lot is a major plus and really the only reason I stop in. I seriously hate this Walgreens. I hate everything about it. I hate how old and outdated it is. I hate how it feels like I am walking into a Hoarders house when I visit things sloppily arranged and dusty. I hate how things are always 'out', and how long I have to wait at the pharmacy newsflash get some more staff at the pharmacy and maybe some that speak Mandarin to help out the customers who primarily shop here. I hate the overwhelming feeling of depression and how sloppy the staff and managers usually look. I hate the chatty male cashier with glasses who seems to work every single shift slowing down the line to an exasperating halt with incoherent small talk about things that are none of his business i.e. if you are a Christian and repent to Jesus. I hate that there are guards who make you feel like you are entering a military compound when all you really want is some deodorant and toothpaste, oh and by the way the deodorant is behind lock and key so good luck getting someone to help you in the aisle. Also, stay away from the 'fresh' food because it looks slimy and old. I hate that no one knows how to work Apple Pay here and they look at you like YOU'RE crazy for even attempting to use it. The only nice people in this whole place are the ladies that work in the photo area I wish I knew their names but they are usually okay (again it is hit or miss, sometimes they're great and sometimes there's someone back there who really doesn't understand what they are doing and will look everywhere for your photos EXCEPT the box with your last name letter on it, and then when they find your photos there they will say, oops should have checked there first). I hate the lighting and the floors. I just hate my life when I shop here honestly. The only reason I go here is because of my prescription but I swear if my prescriptions weren't with Walgreens I would go somewhere else. Let's set aside the horrible parking lot where there's never any parking and the panhandlers outside hassling you. The employees that work there are OK. They don't go out of their way to greet you or anything. There's always this specific older white lady with short hair that never seems to like Asians. Yes, I'm going there.
