I had an extremely frustrating experience with the Walgreens pharmacy in ELmwood Park, NJ. I am dealing with severe pain from a tooth infection, and my prescription was sent by a physician who also practices pain management. Instead of simply addressing whether the prescription could be filled, I received a phone call with what I felt were excessive and unreasonable questions about my prescriptions and medical treatment. Unfortunately, this isn't my first experience like this with Walgreens. I previously had a similar problem at the Walgreens on Main ave CLifton, NJ. It felt as though every possible obstacle was being created to avoid filling a legitimate prescription rather than trying to help a patient who was in significant pain. The entire experience left me extremely uncomfortable and frustrated with how these pharmacies handle certain medications., TO TOP THIS OFF, THEY DID NOT GIVE ME MY MEDICATIONS. I also have serious concerns about why patients are being put through this process and believe Walgreens management should review these practices closely. I am not accusing any particular employee of wrongdoing without evidence, but the experience was concerning enough that I believe the handling and accountability surrounding these medications deserves scrutiny. Based on my experiences, I would strongly recommend considering another pharmacy. read more

I find the pharmacy here to be attentive and quick. The constant text messages reminding me if I want to renew a prescription are very annoying, and you can't turn them off to say only status for prescriptions you've put in for. But the place itself in the help themselves is very good. read more

The pharmacist called to check on the new drug prescribed by my mom's cardiologist, labetalol. In this case, my mom was experiencing a very serious negative reaction. Her heart rate was dipping very low (39) and so was her blood oxygen. After discussion, he recommended switching back to her previous medicine, hydralazine, and calling the doctor. He also mentioned a more potent diuretic that we will talk to the doctor about. While the doctor did not return my call for several days, I was confident that we had made the right choice when my mom's numbers began to pick up into normal range. I feel like the pharmacist may have saved my Mom's life. I am so grateful I was there to pick up the landline call and very impressed with the pharmacist's comprehensive comparative knowledge of the two medicines, their side effects and suitability (more than the cardiologist, apparently). Also, I have had several vaccines at this location, which have all been handled in a professional way. read more

Really disrespectful costumer service, been trying to get a vaccine for a 2 weeks, last week a lady over the phone told me that they have it so I made my appointment, showed up and nothing, then I tried to call today, a different lady took my call, said she have it and that I can go tomorrow after 4pm then just hung up on me. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful, I'll see if I can get it tomorrow because this place is near my house and is convenient. read more

My wife calls to ask if a prescription is ready and the girl tells her it'll be ready at 8pm. She shows up at 9pm and another pharmacist tells her it now won't be ready til two days later. This place really needs to get their act together. Disgraceful. read more

This post will be strictly about the pharmacy section. Registered online this morning for a flu shot on my way into work. Booked it for 8:40 am. Arrived at 8:30, as I needed to fill out some paperwork, as per the notification on the site. Went to the back of the store, provided my license and insurance card, and after everything was entered in the system, they informed me that my flu shot was free, because of my insurance. They took me into their back room where they gave me my flu shot and I was done in 15 minutes total. I will be back next year. read more

Your physician calls in a prescription and I gave them over an hour to go pick it up and when I got there it wasn't ready. The cashier asked me to give them an additional 10-15 minutes and when I went back, my medication wasn't ready for pick up. Are you serious? About seven people working inside the pharmacy department and people are still waiting. Frustrating! read more

I always come here to get my prescriptions filled. The pharmacy staff is very knowledgable and ensures that you have all the information that you need on your medications. Aside from getting good customer service, I also go here for all my seasonal needs, like candy, decorations, etc. Local, cheap, and friendly. Just what the doctor ordered! read more

I've been using this pharmacy for over 10 years and coming to this store since it was first built, never really had a problem until today. Got to the pharmacy drive thru at 9:40 told me they had one ready give them 10 more minutes for the second. No problem, I roll back around 15 minutes later give them my card they give me a bag and say everything is in there. I get home and the original first script is missing, but the one I was waiting for is there. I call (to see if MAYBE they're still there and I can run back since they messed up) and by the time I get through the prompts to an actual person it's 10:15, I try explaining to the guy who answers, all he hears is the word pharmacy and says it's closed, I said ok but and interiors me and just puts me on hold, 2 minutes later picks up "hello?" Yea u put me on hold I'm wai-"hold on" few more minutes picks back up again I said yeah can I just speak to a mana-"hold on" then the phone proceeds to ring for 2 minutes straight then just hangs up on me. This employee cut me off and put me on hold THREE times without letting me even speak. I find it hard to believe that at 10:20pm there is not one competent employee able to pick up the phone. This was my first ever "can I speak to a manager" call. Maybe I'm getting old and cranky but WTF happened to general "customer service" or just plain old not being RUDE? I'm disappointed in this Walgreens and I feel like a damn KAREN now. Rant over. read more

Horrible. I walk into store looking for AmLactin or equivalent, and can't find in skin care aisle. I proceed to pharmacy Dept to ask and they the RPh (state board appointed registered Pharmacist) tells me it rx only, and than tells me it's a lesser strength in lotion aisle. It's still 12% , WTF (where the ef) is a lotion aisle. None of the labels say Lotion aisle! I walk around store and find it in the Shave Needs! WTF did these ppl get their Pharm.D's and where is a companies employee dedication to the consumer. All of them pride in making consumer lives happier and easier, yet they overachieve the opposite! read more

I have been coming to this walgreens for quite some time and lately there is a clear issue with the staff. The gentleman physician if i use that word is rude, argumentative and unprofessional. I've had multiple issues in the last month alone than I've ever had as long as I've been going there. I've also complain to the pharmacy manager and got into an argument with her on the floor. She insisted her employee was correct and did not listen to one word that I said. My prescriptions were announced throughout the store and it was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. I'm supposed to trust my Pharmacy and deal with on a professional customer service level. Most of the girls are actually very nice however this one particular manager and gentleman do not belong there. I've seen them be rude to older people as well and I've complained to the Walgreens manager. I believe I just had my last incident now and I will be looking into other pharmacies as this is not the care I expect or deserve. Do yourself a favor and go to CVS. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR PASSPORT PHOTO FROM WALGREENS. My boyfriend and I went to take our passport photos which costs about &16.00 each. The following day we submitted our passport and the photos were denied because they were not standard size and horrible quality. We had to retake the photo which was a $10.00 fee (cheaper than Walgreens and correct). In an attempt to return the walgreens photos we were met with various employees who did not know how to handle the situation. This reflects the training of the staff. The photographer used a small digital camera with no flash. We received our reimbursement because we still had our receipt otherwise there would be no refund. I came here to get a copy of a photo in the photo department. Since it's the PHOTO department, I walked up, waited for someone to even greet me. I said I needed a photo copy. I know photo copy can mean "xerox" but if I'm in the photo department asking for a photo copy and pointing to the photo that I need copied, obviously you know what I am talking about. Jane A. one of the managers says "we don't do photo copies" in the rudest manner and I'm like what? You don't make copies of photos? And she's like oh yeah well you didn't say that. Then goes on defining what photo copy means. I'm not 12 years old I don't need the Webster definition but thanks! I'm like come on lady, let's not act ignorant. So she's like oh you have to do it on the machine. I'm like OK well can you help me through it because I've never done it before. So she clearly doesn't want to help because she's uninterested and not engaged- looking all around for someone else to help me and a gentleman came over and saved the day. Jane was also super rude to another customer who came to pick up photos. I don't get why you work in customer service if you're going to treat them poorly. Unfortunately this lady is the manager and should act more professional and friendly. I won't be stopping by this place again. Literally horrible customer service. read more

Do not get your passport pictures taken here. Agency will reject them. Messed up my pictures twice. Never going back again for anything.
