These folks are clueless at this location. You show up for a Covid test appt and they tell you they don't do the tests there on weekends. But I have a confirmed email with a confirmation number. So they are obviously wrong. After pushing them, they realize they are. No apologies, and they give you an attitude about it like it's your fault they are clueless. Then they tell me the results will be 4 to 5 business days when that doesn't say that at all on the website. So I run around like a maniac to find someplace else to get the test done so I would have the results in time. And then literally the Walgreen results come the next day. So I had aggravation, an attitude from them, and additional expense because they don't know what the heck they're talking about. read more

My wife and I have used the pharmacy at Walgreens (La Quinta) for three years. We became used to prescriptions that were not ready when promised, poor customer service and lousy staff attitudes, prioritizing the convenience of a drive-thru. And, don't get me started on their computer issues. Wrong home addresses, prescriptions refilled without our authorization, appointment times not honored and seemingly so slow to retrieve information and process that it is not surprising the lines are usually uncomfortably long. Now with only no or an occasional pharmacist and uncertain hours of operation. So, we tried Von's at the corner of Washington and Highway 111. When you become accustomed to a lousy experience what a refreshing difference. We felt like we were in a flashback to the traditional neighborhood pharmacy. We're transferring all of our prescriptions and will no longer patronize Walgreen's pharmacy. read more

I have been filling prescriptions at this location for many years. I believe one of the managers is a gentleman named Victor. He is kind and very helpful always filling in when the store is crowded. During the season, there are so many patients to fill prescriptions for and very often the drive through lane is deep, and the line inside is relatively long. I have witnessed rude and abusive remarks to employees several times while waiting. I have never seen any employee succumb to the behavior in any way but professional . Don has been working in the pharmacy for as long as I have been filling my prescriptions, and he addresses me by name. I have moved since I started, and another store is closer to my house, but for the reasons expressed above I choose to continue using this store. I also want to mention Vanessa as well. She has always come to my aid. I'm not sure if she is still filling in. I am impressed with the management and the slow turn over rate. Based on the medications filled, these special employees can put together the stories of what customers are experiencing. They are patient barely have a moment to look up, and yet are kind and helpful. I am on my third cancer diagnosis. I would not go elsewhere to fill prescriptions. This review is for the pharmacy only. I've been coming here for years because my house is right down the street. I get that they are busy, but pull it together people. I called this morning to see why a prescription wasn't filled in time and I was put on hold 11 different times. No one ever answered, they just kept picking up the phone and putting me on hold again. It would re-ring and they picked it up and put me on hold, over and over and over. I was on the phone just trying to speak to someone in pharmacy for over 15 minutes. I mean, really??? Maybe you need to hire more people to work in the pharmacy. This happened many times before as well. I go in person thinking it will be faster. Nope!! Horrible pharmacy. Tried two days to get a live person to talk to, sat on hold for over 25 minutes each time with no answer. Went in the store to find out why my prescription was delayed and was told they wouldn't be able to get it for another 3 days. Asked them to find another location that might have it and then to let me know so could transfer the prescription- was told the pharmacist would have to call each place so it would take awhile and I could wait in the store (while my family is waiting in the car), she said she would not call me with the information. If I had known In advance I could have taken care of this before the weekend but I am unable to do so now. Will never use this pharmacy again. Zero stars. read more

This is the worst pharmacy in La Quinta !!!!! Every single employee is absolutely rude and not helpful! I spoke to the manager he was useless and offered no resolution. Manager was called 3 times over intercom to help at the pharmacy and never showed up. The pharmacy is understaffed and have no help the lines are long and the wait time is over 3 hours to get your RX. The manager should be fired and new staff should be brought in that know how to treat a customers and never have to wait that long for a RX. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star. For the last two years it does not maintain the basics in its store, yet I can go to CVS, which is about 2 miles away, and their shelves are full. Either Walgreen's manager is inept or Walgreens is in big trouble. I went in for some cotton facial cleanser pads, they didn't have the ones I always get. Then vitamin water.... they were out. Then a bottle of Chardonnay. They had all of four bottles in the entire store and there wine department was completely wiped out (it always is). Why is it that CVS, Rite Aid, Target, and practically everywhere else can keep their shelves stocked but Walgreens can't. I wish they would just close up the store and sell it to someone who can competently run it. The manager was useless. She looked at me blankly like she had no idea what I was talking about. Also, what is it with carding people who are over 70? The man in front of me had to be in his late seventies trying to buy a bottle of wine while his wife was in the car waiting and they wouldn't sell it to him because he didn't have his ID... really? I only gave this place one star because I couldn't give it zero stars and still post my comments. Avoid this pharmacy at all costs. Not only is the service terrible but their pricing is also very suspect. My dermatologist called in an order and when I picked it up I was told the cost was $156.50. When I expressed great surprise, I was told that it was after an $80 co-pay from my insurance. Since I didn't even know the exact name of what I was getting, I didn't check the price beforehand. Once I go home, I went to GoodRx app to check the price of Betamethasone Dipropionate Ointment. I am embarrassed to say the cost for the identical product and amount was $13.19 at Target and CVS, $15.14 at Vons, $18.77 at Ralphs and more like that. Was I STUPID - yes indeed I was, no question about it. This is the last time I will go to Walgreens for anything. And I will check with GoodRx before I get another prescription filled. I have frequented this Walgreens Pharmacy on the corner of 48 and Washington Street for many years. They are always understaffed and waiting for clarification on prescriptions Is unacceptable. I have been trying to get, as ordered my by physician, blood glucose testing materials for over 3 months now. They blame my doctor but I have verification from the doctor's office that prescriptions have been sent. Walgreens texts me repeatedly that they have one of the 3 items needed to test but have insurance questions. I spent 22 minutes today on hold to speak to an employee there and once ringing on site fir 2 and a half more minutes they hung up on me. I called back for a 12 minute wait to hear the Pharmacist tell me that he did not have doctors orders again and did not understand my insurance message that was sent to them. He said, " If you want this done, come and pay for the machine and lancets myself but that he was too busy to help me because they were giving Covid vaccines and didn't have time to help me. Stopped by this afternoon to pick up some cold medicine for my sick girlfriend. I accidentally purchase the wrong version of the medicine she needed and I realized this before I even left the parking lot. I went back inside WITH MY RECEIPT IN HAND, grabbed the correct item and started making my way to the counter to exchange them. When I stated I need to exchange the items to the employee, I was accused of stealing. I stated that I was just in there as I was showing him the receipt. He continued to accuse me of stealing by saying I could have stolen the receipt that I had to come and acquire cold medicine at no cost. Finally after enough convincing he exchanged my items, but not without attitude. If I ever go back to this location, and the chances are slim, I will refuse to be helped by that individual. read more

The staff at this Walgreens lost my prescription. When my wife went to pick up medication she was confronted about similar medication being picked up by someone with a similar name living approximately 500 miles away. Suspect that because I am Caucasian and elderly it may be the result of ongoing political issues created by Maxine Waters et al. Do not leave your prescriptions without receiving a photo copy of the prescription. Lost prescriptions means another trip to doctor, travel and other expenses, and may involve filing a police report. The pharmacist here is incredibly rude. I tired to get my prescription filled at this location since the walgreens I go to in indio didn't have the drug on stock. I was treated like a criminal, instead of trying to help he went listing every reason not to help me, saying usually there's a problem if you're having to come to a different pharmacy, your doctor doesn't even have a CA number and isn't from this county. I told him that I see the CSUSuniversity Dr who travels to our extension campus for 1 day every 2-3 weeks. He then brought up a completely different medication and said well your Vicodin is from a Dr in San Diego... My spine specialist is from SD but has an office in Indio where he she's patients 2 days a week. This place is really disorganized, needs for sure new management at the pharmacy, I am amazed someone hasn't gotten killed by the mistakes these people make with the prescriptions. They were trying to push someone else's prescriptions on my wife until my wife got upset and told them off because that was not hers but another person with the same name and when they gave us ours it was wrong one,we noticed it until we were back home and my wife was about to take it, then when she read the label, she realized it was the wrong one. This evening, my husband went to pharmacy to fill a prescription that I received from the hospital. Well, he returned with the wrong medication. When we realized we had the wrong medication we took it back to the pharmacy. There was no reaction whatsoever from the pharmacist. They took the incorrect medication back and filled they prescribed prescription for us. No apology, no explanation. Makes me wonder what they're doing. read more

The store is organized. Staff is very friendly. I get all my prescriptions from this Walgreens. Pharmacy staff is polite, but not always friendly. The drive-thru is convenient (esp in the heat of the summer) however, it is very, VERY s-l-o-w! I have spent 20 mins in the drive thru with only one car in front of me. I want to give props to the pharmaceutical staff. They have a lot to handle and are busy non stop but still get your prescription to you in the amount of time they say. I had to purchase a nebulizer from them and they were the only store i could find in the valley that had them readily available. They are kind and super helpful. So I switched to this pharmacy a year ago since it's so close to our house (Literally like a mile). I'll be switching back to our old pharmacy, SavOn at Albertsons (off Monterey X Country Club). I'd honestly rather drive 15 mins for better service. This place has always been extremely slow and flat out their service sucks!!! No one seems to have a clue and a big pet peeve is when they start helping you then ask you to step aside and start helping other people. It becomes a back and forth game and is annoying! To top it all off I don't know how many times I've called in medication (good luck getting someone on the phone), then called to confirm it was there before picking it up, and get there and get told "oh sorry, we'll have to re-do it for you." Dropped off a prescription for my 1 year old to TOM from this location..and not only could he not give me a time to be back he also, didn't tell me our insurance wasn't covered. Upon arrival to pick up the prescription later that evening , he then tells us that they couldn't fill it and I needed to call kaiser to call them to fax it over..and it would be ready the next Business morning. Well kaiser is closed....& why wouldn't you call to let me know when I dropped it off at 12 in the afternoon....6 hours later. When you're a mom you do what you can..to get your babies taken care of IMMEDIATELY I go home I get on the phone with Walgreens, and they then tell me he should have given me the prescription, so I could take it to where it could have been filled ASAP... I show up to pick it up, where they then tell me..that they could send it to another local Walgreens where our insurance is accepted. Not only was it a stressful run around..it could have been handled better if they we're all on the same page about the situation. This store is pretty awesome compared to other stores when it comes to the front desk service the people actually care about the customers and their needs. The staff tries to make sure people are leaving with a smile at the corner of happy and healthy. However the pharmacy has a lot of problems. Some of the staff are super nice and friendly but some are just cranky rude and inconsiderate plus the wait time there is outrageous. Since I work here I can honestly say that I have customers call in all the time who are put on hold for at least 10 minutes sometimes longer and then the call comes to the front register aka Me and then I have to apologize to them and get cussed out because the pharmacy won't handle their business. It's unfortunate these people have to wait and it sucks that their is really nothing I can do to order or check your prescription info from the front especially when I'm not busy. I would say if anything they need to hire more staff in the pharmacy or get staff members who are more competent. Either that or change the system so that the people at the register can start ordering prescriptions and train us how to do it. I like my job I have a great attitude and have been complimented by many customers about my work ethic and my attitude. I read all the reviews and just did not think it could be bad as stated. Well I met the person in charge of the pharmacy and she and one of the techs helped me. So I felt the reviews were wrong. Told the Meds were be ready in a day, well went two days later and nothing was ready. Talked to Pharmacist who was Asian and had no idea of what she was doing. No idea where my Meds were, how to process the insurance part. Had to have a person from the store take care of it. I said ok it was just a incompetence Pharmacist go back again last Sunday, Jan 1st, asked a lady in a gray vest who was placing sale tags in the vitamins section if a vitamin was on sale. Her answer was I do not know you need to look in the flyer by the front door. Called John Henie and he just did not care. First I could not understand him, second he said he would call me, still no call. Called the Corporate office and got a call from the area manager who is taking care of my issues. He is sending me to different store. I would not recommend this location to anyone and really think they need to clean out the store management beginning with John. Kudos to this Pharmacy.The people at the window work very hard, bend over backwards to help you. The prescriptions are always ready, they e mail and phone to inform you they can be picked up. I have seen a line around the normal pharmacy lane and by the time I got to the window the clerk was very polite not hassled a bit( that shows!) the clerks are very quick, polite and careful. The wait for the pharmacy is ridiculous, and they could not care less about that or the fact that stupid errors occur like ineffective "automated text alerts" that never actually go through to tell you your rx is ready--or getting your prescription filled by the next needed bottle, which has recently happened as well. Got a very sick 3 year old and need a medication filled within this decade? Go elsewhere. Was told to "wait just for a bit and we'll text you when it's ready." Over an hour spent with a nauseous, feverish kiddo in the backseat while waiting at a nearby parking spot came and went (because I kept thinking, surely it must be done any minute...and I was NOT going to do another sleepless, fevered night). Finally I gave up and got behind 3 other cars in the drive thru line and waited an additional 15 mins only to be told that it was done over 30 mins ago--"oh you didn't get the automated text?" Um, yea, I did but I was enjoying the wait too much in my car with my happy camper. WTF. No sorry, no acknowledgement of the error or my inconvenience, nada. From now on, even though this place is less than a quarter mile away, I'll be taking my business to CVS on 42nd/Washington, where I've had several positive drop-in experiences before. I assure you I'm not some crank mother bear or impatient priss. This kind of service (or lack thereof) would piss off mother Teresa. Good riddance! read more
