BEST Walgreens experience ever. I phoned in an out of state prescription with the pharmacy and was provided top-notch service. I had to call in three times over two days due to the nuances of the prescriptions being filled and was fortunate to have the same amazing technician answer my calls. Not only was she extremely helpful and patient, she informed me that she had a coupon that would give me a better price on a particular medication over my insurance cost. My home Walgreens would never provide such thoughtful service. Picking up my prescriptions was a breeze as well. This Walgreens pharmacy should be an example for all others to emulate. read more

This is a bittersweet message because when I started this process, I was deeply Po-ed from the substandard service that I received from employees. I turned it around at the corporate level and they were most helpful but yesterday I went and took care of my last OTC purchase and Laura the Manager made it an easy transaction not aggravating. No conversation about can't do it. You don't have enough of ... She just did it and did it with pleasure and I'm immensely grateful for her and I hope that we can continue with this relationship like it is now. If corporate could recognize her for her outstanding effort that would be greatly appreciated and that one employee that wasn't helpful did get his. On the flipside of this wonderful review, I would give the pharmacy three stars. I've been trying to refill a prescription for vitamin D3. My hospital sent it in. The pharmacy claims the hospital closed the refill. I have the record in my phone (via the hospital portal) that they *requested* a refill. I showed it to the pharmacist. He just keeps saying the same thing, they closed it. Ridiculous, I know they sent a new request. So now I go back to the hospital to get them to send it again. But what is with these doofuses at WG? No offer to problem-solve from WG, just deflect, deflect, deflect. read more

This is not my regular Walgreens (it isn't even my not-so-often Walgreens either) but it was the one that popped up on their website for one-hour photo pickup. I needed three 4x6 prints and one 5x7; easy, I would assume? 22 hours later, I received an email that it was ready. That is one hour + 21?! I went in, and since I didn't know if the order was at the front cashier area, I said I was there to pick up a photo order. He pointed over to a shipping area which - at one time - was just for photos, but you can now do all of your FedEx shipping here and maybe that is what held up my order? Went over to that area, I was 3rd in line. The first person in line caught the attention of the guy who had just sent me over and said that no one was here, and could he send someone? How could the cashier guy not have noticed the line he was sending people to was not moving? Someone came to help (I think it was the store manager), the first person's order - for ONE PRINT - wasn't even ready to go. When it was my turn, he needed to find the prints, package them, find the order in the computer so he could print out a price, and then I was able to go wait in line to pay. Every time I go to this pharmacy they haven't made up my prescription even though it has been sent by my doctor and is due. They always have an excuse, but what it comes down to is a 30 minute wait. I also ordered a photo book same day a few months ago and got a confirmation that it would be ready but when I went to pick it up they said their machine was broken but no one bothered to call and tell me. I had to start all over again with another store because I needed it the next day for a present. read more

I don't like to leave bad reviews, but this place deserves it. The in store prices are $2-$4 higher than online. How does this make sense? When asked if they will price match to their own online normal retail price without discounts, they said "no, you have to order online." When asked if they can just remove a few items from my order since they were more expensive in store, they said no as well. They told me that my cart was locked in and they cannot change it? I asked them to cancel the whole order and he also told me no. It took a manager to come over and cancel the order for me. How does any of this make sense... ? Now I have to order everything that was in my hands at the register online and wait another 1-2 hours to pick up. Is this location okay? read more

The worst pharmacy. I was the only one for the Covid booster shot and waited for a long time in front of the closed door. On their website they wrote that if someone lost the proof of immunization card, they would help. They did not. My husband is 83 and he has serious health issues. He lost his card and was refused the booster shot. read more

I just moved back to Newton and this Walgreens has been great for my needs. The staff has been helpful and helped me transfer my prescription quickly and easily. But the best thing is the man I talked to at the register. He is from India and he was so friendly and talked to me at length about his home country and the political situations there. He was such a treat and gave me a great lesson on current affairs. Thank you Walgreens and thank you sir from India! read more

Do NOT use this store for photo gifts. They are not responsive and ignore time-sensitive orders. The makn Walgreens website listed this site for "same day" orders so I submitted a time sensitive photo book order. When I had not heard anything from them I called and they eventually disclosed to me that the machine has been broken all day, and made a weak excuse about why no one called me to inform me. This was a time urgent gift for someone with a recent death in their life. read more

Even though this location is awesome, I'm not the biggest fan of Walgreens. They are actually quite convenient (there is one right near my house), but I just don't really understand the way get the best deals and promotions. I regularly shop CVS and much prefer their customer rewards program, but still shop at Walgreens frequently for several deals in their ad, and of course their legendary clearance aisles (which regularly hit 90% off, always awesome!). This specific location is great in comparison to many other ones (like that tiny store on Langley Rd in Newton Centre) due to it being well stocked, organized, having that terrific clearance section, and above all having fabulous employees. Linda, one of the managers here, goes above and beyond all the time to please and help her customers. She is always around the store and constantly goes out of her way to help her customers. I always greatly appreciate her flexibility and continuous help. One of my local Walgreens stores is very strict in regards to coupons, this particular store is what I call "coupon friendly" though, which is fabulous. Always a great experience here, and a convenient location right off the Pike. 5 stars. read more

Pharmacy is completely incompetent. To fill any prescription you have to call and walk them through every step. I'm on several medications that have severe withdrawal symptoms and every time I have to refill them it's like playing Russian roulette. I've missed more days of work because of their incompetence than I have for being sick. The past two months they've critically screwed up my scrips every single time. To fill just my birth control, they called my endocrinologist who has never prescribed anything related to BC, then a GP across the country I haven't seen in years, and then a psych who again, is out of state and I haven't seen in over a decade, despite me calling and telling them all the information for the correct prescriber every time. And this is standard. I've been using Walgreens my whole life for prescriptions, but I'm finally coming to my senses and switching. read more

This place sucks. For one thing, the parking is limited and they let the Honda dealer and it's customers park all of their cars in the lot, making parking a pain. There are always huge lines at the pharmacy and cash register, and the staff never calls for a second person to help. read more

Wondering around like A lost puppy in here is no fun. I was not sure about the special cream for poison ivy that my pediatrician recommended so I was totally confused what isle I would be finding it at. I must have looked frustrated cause a nice young girl did finally ask me if I needed help, but even with her looking with me I couldn't find it. I get the feeling the are kinda understaffed for the demand at this Walgreens. I usually have pretty good luck with them, specially over CVS. I may have been at a down time for them but not really crowded so not sure why I could not have had help sooner. I guess I'm used to that west Virginia hospitality where the jump on you as soon as you walk into a store to help you and I have to get used to the Northern standoff culture. The store was layed out nice so I could find other stuff easily like paper goods and toothpaste but when you need a specialty item be prepped to wait a bit. read more

The last time I came to this pharmacy, my newborn was fussing. I was standing at the checkout window, waiting to pick up a prescription for my sick newborn; the pharmacy worker was standing two feet away from me, typing on the computer and ignored me (and my agitated infant) for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, I peered into the pharmacy and another worker came over and helped me. The worker at the computer could have easily ushered over another available worker to help me, but instead he opted to listen to my sick newborn get increasingly agitated. Today I went to pick up a prescription for my infant at 5pm. When I walked up to the window, another pharmacy worker came over, looked at a rip in the pharmacy display sign and made some sarcastic comment about how "mean" it was that someone had ripped her sign. She then told me that the pharmacy couldn't fill the prescription because it was too soon. What was annoying was that I had called in the prescription 24 hours prior and the pharmacy never notified me that they wouldn't be able to fill the prescription. My baby is going to have to go without her medicine until I can talk to the insurance company tomorrow about refilling the prescription. When I expressed concern that my baby wouldn't get her medicine, the worked just said "well have you been giving her too much medicine?" I informed her the both the bottle shape and Walgreens syringe make it nearly impossible to be accurate with the dosage. read more

Do not go to this Walgreens unless you want to risk having your car towed. They have virtually an empty parking lot, but will tow you if you are there any longer than 30 minutes. The manager is on some sort of power trip and is out of control. read more

I recently had a very disturbing experience at this particular Walgreen's. I am a priest and was on my way to Worcester for a funeral of a family member when I had a problem with my car and called someone to come get me. I told them to meet me at the Walgreen's parking lot because it's a place we both know and do business. My intention was to leave my car safely in the parking lot for a couple of hours until I could travel to Worcester, deliver the eulogy and return. By the time my ride arrived, it was beginning to get a little on the late side, but I felt getting the manager's permission to park in a corner of his lot would be the right thing to do, so I went in, asked for a manager, was directed to a young lady to whom I told my story and the urgency which I was now beginning to feel to get on the road. She told me she would have to speak to a store manager and left to do just that. A few minutes later she returned and told me that the manager had denied my request and that under no circumstances could I park in the parking lot for a couple of hours. I was devastated not only by the lack of empathy but also by the fact that the manager was not even courteous enough to come see me in person. Needless to say I had to waste more precious time finding another place to park and ended up arriving late for the funeral. Because of this incident and the callousness demonstrated by the manager in an establishment where customer relations are so important, I will be switching my business to CVS. read more

Unless you have no option but to do business with Walgreens, I advise you not to do so. They make representations which are untrue and their management is incapable of addressing concerns relating to false representations and failed computer systems. Walgreesns advertised a $25 gift certificate for any prescriptions transferred to them during September. In reliance on that offer I went to the pharmacy and specifically ask if that would include transfers even if I did not need some of the medications immediately and would pick them up later. I was assured that would be fine and that as I picked them up the gift cards would issue. I had them call CVS and bring over more then ten scrpts. The next day I asked the same pharmacist if she got them all and was told yes, but they would have to contact my doctors office for renewals on two of them. I again asked about the gift cards when I picked them up and again was promised I would receive the cards as the medications were filled. I picked up 4 prescriptions and their system kept saying I had government insurance. I do not. They called Blue Cross/ Blue Shield and confirmed that it was private insurance and a manager issued the gift cards. Sunday I went to pick up 3 additional prescriptions and was told there would be no gift cards, the promotion was over and that it would not cover in any event the ones that had to be refilled. I spoke to an assistant manager who said she would get it all straightened out with the GM who would be in today. Today I was told by the GM that there was nothing he could/would do;would do and even though they know that I have private health insurance, because their system says it is government insurance he has been told not to assist. No stars... This is as bad as it gets... I moved here 14 months ago and really did not want to be THAT GUY to be the jerk to give this place the review it deserves. Aside from the fact that you constantly find expired product on the shelves, once you sift through what is good, you go to check out and BAM... YOU ARE STUCK!!! I am all for giving everyone an opportunity ( hence the reason I waited over a year to say anything ) but, I feel that some of the cashiers that might need some (special) supervision are left there to get buried under pressure with no help what so ever. It's not fair to them and it's not fair to the customers. It has become extremely frustrating when you have things like ICE CREAM and the transaction in front of you is held up for 15 minutes because of a 50 cent coupon... it happens more often than not at this location and it's come to the point that I avoiding this place at all cost. read more

The store is nice and clean and the employees are always very nice. It's a little bigger than CVS which is nice, and the location is very convenient. My only pet peeve would be that upon exiting the store you're forced to exit onto Washington St. even if you entered from the back roads. read more
