I recently came to this BJs to order a custom birthday cake and the process was so easy. The bakery is located in the far back right corner and they have a form and a binder full of inspiration for ways you can customize your cake. I filled out the form, where it asked you things like what color font, what color trim, when do you need the cake to be ready by, what do you want written on the cake, etc. It's helpful because the different cake sizes and flavor combinations are clearly labeled. My cake was for a birthday party so I went with the larger sheet cake option. Once I filled out the form, I spoke with the baker who was decorating cakes behind the counter, and confirmed with her that I'd like to have the cake ready for pick up the next day at 4pm. So easy. The cake was ready at my pick up time, exactly how I described, and it was delicious! So fresh. read more

I frequent Costco more often than BJ's nowadays but they both serve different purposes for me. I enjoy BJ's selection of snack variety boxes & baked goods more than what's offered at Costco. Love the corn bread mini loaves from here, I can literally finish all 12 in one sitting. This location is pretty clean and lines move fast, so I enjoyed visiting this one ;) read more

I don't buy a lot here and don't even need a cart when I go in, but for the few things I do purchase regularly, it makes the membership worth it (i.e. gallon of milk for $2.89). The deal of the century was the queen size Casper mattress I had delivered last year for $300. Yes, $300 to my door and it is amazing. I haven't seen them on the website for a while, so I may have timed that purchase perfectly. In addition to my year of fabulous sleep, I am shouting out a thank you to Shakeh at the service desk: something with my membership was screwed up (nothing that happened in Waltham, it was all the doing of customer service somewhere) and in-store I was listed as having an expired membership, but online it was current. She ended one account for me, activated another and did some other magic with her computer, and now I am all good. Tip: do NOT call the 800 number unless you have at least 20 minutes and a lot of patience (and your problem may still exist afterwards)... go see one of the nice ladies at the desk in Waltham instead!! read more

Brianna (forgive me if I spelled your name wrong) went above and beyond by taking a really bad experience with the website ordering process (for in-store pickup) and turning it completely around into a great experience. It's very clear by how she handled the situation that she cares about her customers, which is an unfortunately rare quality in customer service these days. I am still trying to figure out if I save money hear taking into account the membership fee. I use it to buy chickens legs, butter and my vegetables. Generally I visit every three weeks to pick up my staples. I know that their prices is lower for the trash bags and paper towel because I have compared the price at other stores. The warehouse is always clean and the merchandise is organized. I think if I were to shop there more often, it would definitely pay off over the course of the year. The disadvantage is that I have to purchase in large quantities. I usually visit Sunday mornings when the lines are the shortest. There is always plenty of parking. read more

Since the new staff came this store is a mess no one knows how to talk to the people . They have mango lassi in the cooler . They know that this item has a mold . They received so many complaints but they don't care . How come that big wholesale store can carry molding item intentionally. The first time I went to BJ's, I wasn't super impressed. It seemed like a less good Costco. I first purchased a membership, though, when I needed new tires for my car, because their tire center (not at this location...they have one in Dedham) has excellent deals. I started shopping here pretty often since I had the membership and since the location was convenient, and I really found myself liking the place. If you buy a lot of snack foods and frozen food, you really can save a lot of money here compared to a regular grocery store, especially if you use their coupons. They have a lot of good frozen appetizers in their Wellesley Farms brand, too. They also accept manufacturer's coupons, unlike Costco. But overall my favorite feature is the free curbside pickup. Being able to have my groceries delivered to my car for the same price as if I shopped in the store (unlike all of the places that use instacart for their curbside pickup, where every item costs more) is awesome when I don't want to run around the store with young kids. read more

I would like to say a few words about your optican Alexander Sandler (BJ's Waltham). He was very kind when I came to him and ask if he could fix my sunglasses. It turned out that I lost two screws that held the arms of my sunglasses. Although that was a pair of old glasses, I like them, and they have a very good sun protection. Mr. Sandler fixed it within a few mintues and did not charge me for that. Most important - he was willing to help. Unfortunatelty, you can not see often such employees anymore!!! read more

Want to share stellar service from Mashyta at BJ's Waltham. Was on the lookout for the same thing everybody is going for, toilet paper. Usual wall was empty. Saw a customer with TP in their cart and asked where it might be, they pointed at an empty pallet "Right there, sorry." Answered "no worries, no apologies, take care." and went to checkout. Mashyta was restocking the receipt printer at self checkout and directed me to the checkout that was open. I sheepishly and apologetically ask the same question they've answered 1000 times a day "Know when the next shipment of TP might arrive? Any pointers?" She answered "Right there :)" and pointed to 2 packs under a closed checkout belt. "I can have one?" I asked dumbfounded. With a smile and nod she answered "Absolutley" I thanked her and was on my way.   The TP was for my elderly in-laws and 95 year old grandmother, When I arrived they were so surprised, happy and thankful saying they were down to 3 rolls and have been looking for over a week, going to as many as 4 places a day. Thankfully they won't need to go from store to store, risking health and stressing over something we take for granted. Crying over TP was not something I ever foresaw but the tears were not from getting TP, it was from stress relief and the kindness Mashyta showed. Please recognize her in some way. She was working hard before I arrived, while I was there and after I left all in great spirits.  I'm sure to have misspelled her name and apologize but I will never forget her face or kindness. read more

Signed up for membership to use BJ's Delivery...what an mistake! First delivery had some broken glass items, received a refund so that was ok. Second delivery, UPS only delivered 4 of the 10 bulk items...because they refused accepting damaged goods from BJ's warehouse for delivery! Received notice from UPS, later BJ email saying they received the returns "from me!" but only credited half the missing items. Multiple emails and on-line chat w/ their customer service showed how clueless they were, had to repeatedly include order and item# in every email response, and finally contacted my credit card company to credit the cost of the 6 items I never received. Took two months! Are the warehouse workers treating items in stock as footballs?...two orders, both involving damaged glass/bottle items? (Even some cans I received were dented). And you'd expect a company might partially refund the S/H charge having received only 40% of my order? Or give a complimentary S/H for a possible next order? No, they ignored even that request. Cutting my losses, cancelling my membership. read more

This store is clean and well stocked. Problem is that on any given trip, the prices shown on the racks don't match the prices that ring up. Usually they are $1.00 off. It is illegal to advertise one price and then charge the consumer another. I reached out to BJ's. I got a form resposnse telling me that my complaint would be sent to someone else. Also, what is it with BJ's and their paper coupons? The parking lot is littered with trash that they have generated by these flyers. If you have something on sale, just give the lower price to the member. Like Costco or Sam's Club. You feel cheated when you realize there was savings to be had and you did not take advantage of it. BJ's prices are not great. You can usually do better at Market Basket even though your receipt is saying you saved $$$. I was a big fan at one point, but no longer. This store is just ok. It's much easier to get in and out of here than Costco in Waltham, but it seems like Costco's prices tend to be better. One of the main things that differentiates BJ's from Costco is that unlike Costco they have a deli at BJ's. It's nice to have that option, but just a warning, unfortunately if you go to their deli on a Sunday afternoon for instance you may be waiting in a long line. For some reason they often seem understaffed. Outside of that though the store is much less busy than Costco, and the parking situation is a lot less crazy at this store. read more

BJ's in general is a good place to do shoppings for events, parties, or programs as well. This specific BJ's is newer, and located where the former Raytheon building used to be (or it was across the street.... sort of forget). There is a large parking lot, and even though this area is small and congested all of the time, this warehouse hasn't compromised any space! It's as big, if not bigger, than the nearby BJ's locations. Wonderful selection in every department, and lots to choose from all around. It seems to be one of the moderately busy locations, but with self checkout and the RIGHT amount of associates, this store especially gets my business due to the fast and efficient checkout experience. One guy actually asked me to come over to his register as he was just opening, even though there were barely any lines. How friendly. Food department specifically seemed more frequently replenished, with no empty shelves and tons of stock everywhere. Prices are alright throughout and this BJ's had the most furniture and $5 DVD's in existence (and I've been to quite a few of their locations). Bottom line, this is one of the best BJ's I've been to, and I would highly suggest shopping here. Only argument for the other side is that if you live on the other side of Waltham, Costco might be more convenient. 5 stars. read more

I'm a longtime member of BJ's competition Warehouse also in Waltham. Recently, I received BJ's 3 Months complimentary Membership "Trial base" by mail. I was always curious so I decided to try it out and went yesterday to their location in Waltham. There were 6 customers ahead of me at Customer Service but only one lady working behind the counter on Sunday afternoon. There was a gentleman, who could've been a Manager was also with her but said I must wait for her to assist me. 20 minutes later when my turn came, The staff member Georgia tried to sell me a yearly membership, even though I repeatedly made her aware, I was just interested in 3 months membership for now and handed her the flier I received in mail. Once she realized I wasn't going for a yearly membership, she gave me a huge attitude. My next visit was at a Verizon wireless store inside BJ's and received similar experience. (I was going to sign up for two year contract for a specific phone to get lower price as a Verizon promotion but the Manager was only interested to sell me with No contract. Needless to say, I left disappointed from there as well. The products I purchased, I did not find the prices to be lower than where I usually go. I could not find a bag of unsalted Almonds, Pecans or Walnuts. Had tough time locating any staff members on the floor. Finally found one on other side in the Bakery area, however she was not aware of if BJ's carried it or not and did not put any extra effort to find out either. We have memberships at both BJs and Costco so I can honestly tell you the pros and cons of each one. My husband likes BJs, but I prefer Costco. So, we belong to both warehouses, and I like the variety of items we can get from having access to both stores. Firstly, the Pete and Gerry eggs and Tom's of Maine toothpaste (Recently, they stopped selling the particular one that I like, so I've stopped buying it here.) offered at BJs are the main reasons why I shop at BJs. Recently, I picked up the BJs apple pie, and it was super delicious. What a deal at $5.99! BJ's offers more options as they may carry a couple of toaster and hair dryer options for members to choose from. For me, I'm a busy person and just like having someone curate for me what is the best deal. Costco does independent research on products to decide which one particular toaster or hair dryer to offer members. Costco carries many premium Asian products, like moon cakes and dashi broth packets. Another thing I noticed recently is that items like the new Ina Garten Modern Comfort Food cookbook cost more at BJ's. I purchased it at Costco for $19.99 and saw it at BJ's for $21.47. I've notice several times that the same exact item cost more at BJs. So, I try to purchase at Costco first and then get everything else at BJs. The only other thing that bothers me about BJs is that they still collect coupons. At Costco, no coupons are needed, as they automatically give members all coupons at checkout. My suggestion to BJs is to just give members all the possible discounts. It's just good business. read more

This place is on my complete shit list. I am typically not this abrupt on yelp but today was the last straw with BJs.... Over a year ago I joined the club b/c the nice customer service woman incentivized me with a $50 gift card at restaurants.com which apparently has TONS of great local restaurants and I thought great - a free little meal. Maybe I could even put it towards a fancier place and have a nice night out on a special occasion - hey it would at least pay for the apps and some drinks. Anyhow I got to the website and there are 4 options in Boston that I have never heard of (think D lister type place you would only go if drunk like Sissy Ks). There were also a handful of places outside the city - think ALMOST fast food, dives, super casual - places you would have to TRY to spend $50 at..... So my husband and I went to Bella Costa in Framingham and had a nice meal which came to $55. When the bill came they told us we could only use ONE $10 gift cert at a time and had to pay the difference in CASH and then come back to the mediocre joint FOUR times to get our gift card worth..... UMMMM? WTF. Are you on crack? After a month long dispute with BJs corporate who were actually quite pleasant and responsive as far as customer service goes, they mailed us a $50 BJs gift card as an apology for the misleading promotion. They confirmed we did not need to be members to use it (needless to say we are no longer members). So off I went to BJs to buy a few essentials. The total came to about $80 and the nice lady at the self checkout explained there would be a 15% surcharge b/c I was not a member - NEGLECTING TO MENTION that would also apply to the $50 GC... so it was really a $44 dollar gift card..... I was livid and ended up returning a few things so the surcharge would not be quite as much... that was when I met GEORGIA (may have been GLORIA but I could barely make out her name tag under her 12,500 gold star stickers. Gag. She was the rudest woman I have ever met. Treated me with ZERO respect and then challenged me asking where I got the gift card and why I felt the restaurant.com thing was a scam. No clue how she got all those stars. Net net I have been to Costco once and had a lovely experience. I will def. be bac - no more BJs for me again EVER read more

This spankin' brand new BJ's opened up in the Waltham/Watertown area, just down from Russos. Staff is friendly. Parking is plentiful. Self Check-Out available. They take manufacturers coupons too. I love being able to purchase toilet paper and paper towels that will last me till next year! Only downside...no liquor/beer/wine. read more

This is a quick review on BJ's optical. I definitely would not recommend going if you have a strong prescription. Upon ordering and selecting the rush option, I was initially told that my glasses would be delivered in 2-3 days. It was not until after a few days of ordering them when I called that they told me the order could not be processed for the rush. They told me they would move it to top priority. I called a week and a half later and asked about the status. They told me that the glasses had been shipped, and that they would be arriving in one to two days. Three days later, I called. They told me they were still at the lab, and may not ship until after the weekend. I would have preferred for them to call me and alert me that there would be a delay in their arrival. Positives: Despite the above, I will say that the person who helped me pick them out and get the order going was very easy to work with, and even though they still have not arrived yet, it sounds like the order was processed correctly. I also know that for my son, who has a minor prescription, ordering multiple pairs of glasses were no problem. They arrived on time and were at a great price. read more

The red velvet cake, carrot cake and pumpkin muffins are excellent, the raisin bran muffins are also good. The carrot cake which is not wellesly farms and comes with cookies is not as good as the wellesley farms one.......lots of great and different kinds of dog bones, dog food and cat food even the fresh packaged animal foods. the produce department has a variety of smaller packaged items similar to regular stores. read more

Georgia is the most unprofessional representative I have ever met in my life. I took my mother who is a senior to the bjs Waltham location during the senior hours between 8am-9am last Sunday 4/5. She had bought hearing aid batteries he week prior for her elderly 90 year old mother who is not able to get out of the house due to the pandemic. Unfortunately the model number was slightly off so she wanted to exchange (not return) for the correct one. My mother asked someone for help in customer service and Georgia who was working that desk immediately asked her if she could read the sign that said no returns in a way that was berating and very unprofessional. Also, my mother had brought the item in a paper bag for ease of use and Georgia started raising her voice at her telling her to leave the store and throw the bag away because she could not bring it in the store. Frustrated, my mother walked away because the batteries were expensive and her mother could not afford buying the correct ones and it was her mistake. My mother found a second bjs worker who was very nice and started talking to her to explain the situation. Georgia gave her the side eye and was already busy helping another customer but left her customer to go to my mother and the other bjs worker to ask what she was doing and told the other worker "I hope you're not exchanging or returning the item for this woman". Frustrated, my mother burst into tears and told me what happened. I proceeded to tell her to please get her name so we can file a complaint. I have always always loved the service at bjs and have always been treated with the utmost respect however Georgia brings a bad representation to this company and especially at a time like this where everyone is scrambling to buy things and support their families, we need the help of everyone to understand what it is like to be a human. I am a loyal customer for many many years however am appalled and disappointed in this behavior. Please retrain Georgia on the respectful behavior that she should show her customers and her company. I don't want to cancel my membership however will consider it if appropriate action is not taken and will take my complaint further if this is not considered. read more

I ma so impressed with the customer service here. Literally blow away. I bought an electronic item and could not find the receipt. It was just a little over 60 days and they were amazing, they let me pick out a new one with no questions asked. For many, the "deep in the bowels of waltham" thing could be the deciding factor between this BJ's & the waltham Costco. If you were coming here off of 128 on RT.20, going thru all the traffic lights to get past Moody St., then the next 10 minute drive to get down to the BJ's, you might get tired of that. (And don't forget the price of gas). But the BJ's store is big, & like some have said, it doesn't seem as crowded with manic Yuppies trying to run you over with their shopping carts as Costco. The check-out lines went way faster, & they take all credit cards, not just AMEX. So I can see why it has so many fans. Costco seems a bit more "upscale" to me somehow (may account for the manic Yuppies). And Costco seems somewhat better organized, & to some extent better products. And it has the Kirkland (Costco label) brand products, like coffee, vitamins, & all kinds of generic OTC meds like allergy pills that even CR rates as excellent. Plus a liquor store & pharmacy that the BJ's doesn't have. So you can get a lot of different shopping done there. It's also 1/8 mile from both a Home Depot & a Bertucci's, if that's important to you. As both a long time Home Despot addict, & a recovering Costco addict, that convenience is something good. But bottom line, try 'em both, & pick the one you like. Oh, & afterwards, go to a bar in waltham, have a couple of beers, & try to stop obsessing about the price of toilet paper.....better yet, just go to a bar in the first place & skip the shopping....... read more

I do not recommend BJs Travel. I planned a trip to Italy for my family and the accommodations were not as I expected. The hotel was undergoing construction. My room after having to change twice had a foul smell all week. The hotel staff was very rude to my daughter who was studying abroad and made it impossible for her to stay with her family. Prior to planning vacation, I was charged twice for the vacation and had to make multiple phone calls to rectify the situation.!The customer service is not responsive in returning calls or emails. The reservations that were made at hotel were not what I booked and therefore made it very uncomfortable for the hotel staff to accommodate my prior reservation. I would. not recommend using Bjs travel. Very dissatisfied!! read more

We said no we weren't interested but she kept going on and on even saying "honey, you'll save 5%." Seriously? I love bjs! Has everything you need at decent prices. The meats always look good. However, the fish never looks that great. If you need a cake for a party, I would definitely pre order to get the style you want and to ensure that it doesn't sit in the case. But overall their cakes are very good. The clothing is actually pretty good here. I have bought jeans, a dress, skirts, shorts, shirts, and even shoes. All of which were priced very well and products that I am in love with! My boyfriend loves the candy isle. He continuously talks about how many things he could buy here. It's like pulling a 2 year old away from candy when shopping with him. read more

Went this morning during "senior hours". At least 50% of people in store under 60. Obviously, this is not being enforced. Went to buy current items in coupon book. Disinfecting wipes (either lysol or clorox), Drakes cakes, and Wise variety mix chips. None of them was in stock. Wasted trip. Also noticed long line to get to cashiers. I made this account specifically to share the infuriating customer service experience I had at this BJ's location. My family has shopped here for years and I wanted to join the membership as a secondary member. The primary member was unable to join me, so I called ahead to ask if it was necessary to have the primary member present to join the membership. I was assured that adding myself to the membership would not be a problem at all, so I drove over to do so. When I got in the store, I was promptly told that only the primary member could add secondary members, and it had to be done in person so calling and having her do it over the phone would not be an option. BJ's is obviously a huge chain, and I can't speak for every location, but this one seems to really not have its ducks in a row with regard to training its employees and making sure they understand company policy. If you're not a fan of having your time wasted by poorly trained employees, I'd recommend shopping at one of BJs' competitors (there's one 10 minutes away) or at least at a different location. read more

If I could give "0 Stars" I would! Ordering online here for curbside pick-up is a joke. I wish I got the name of the young man who just dumped the cart at the trunk and walked away. No effort was made on his behalf to let us know that our order was there, or even offer assistance in loading the trunk (Other BJs locations will put the items in the trunk). Upon our arrival home, we were short one of the items, eggs of all things! We called the store and selected the prompt for "member services" to see how to resolve this issue, only to have the phone continuously ring- over and over- to the point of close to 40 minutes. Someone did eventually answer the phone (Sue) however she could do nothing for our inconvenience- we were instructed to return to the store to get our item or be credited. They would not issue a credit for $5.99 over the phone. Two members of my immediate family are immunocompromised, myself included, and physically having to go into a store, in a pandemic, is an unreasonable request for anyone at the moment. Customer Care was also notified and I had a conversation with a woman named Hannah who was going to pass my complaint to Waltham BJs for a call back, however we are still waiting. Although that would take initiative for a manager to return to a customers concern and I have a feeling initiative or trying to keep a member happy does not rank high on their small to-do list. If you have the availability to shop at Costco in Waltham, or drive to another BJs location, you should- NO one we have tried to make contact with here cares- Customer service is non existent here, a pure and utter disgrace! Instead of trying to service the community and allow their members a better shopping experience, they have done the opposite. read more

I live in the neighborhood so love going in there for smaller items. The people on the way out are very friendly. Their vitamins etc cover a wide range. We bought at least 1 tv there. I would give them 5 stars except the deli crew is usually slow and/or understaffed. Clothing is so so, and I found better options when I risked life and limb at Costco. Big fan of the deli and the produce at this BJ's: D&W deli meat for about $3 less per pound than at Shaw's, ripe tasty fruits and veggies nice and cheap. Yes you have to pay for a membership, but if you have a kid in diapers (as I do), you'll make back the cost of membership lickedy-split. read more

This happened a few months ago. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. I would provide more detail but this location is simply not worth my time. Short version. Broken register couldn't print my receipt. Cashier refused to help since he was going on break. Customer service ignored me for 20 minutes then took another 90 MINUTES to "Fix" my problem. They couldn't reprint a receipt either and decided to re-ring my order 3 times since they couldn't figure out how to refund tax. Ends up even though they promised me that my order would not be over charged they double charged me to the tune of several hundred dollars. No more. Done with them. read more
