The neighborhood was waiting for this place to open. It's a good looking store from the outside, kind of retro. I guess I just like new things and the staff especially the pharmacist were super friendly and helpful. I love their nail polish selection and their photo printing area. They have parking in the back The prices compared to CVS that I usually visit are noticeably higher. read more

Ordered online Covid tests and was told that they would be ready in two hours, but I never received any pickup instructions. I went to the pharmacy and stood there for ten minutes while staff completely ignored me. I tried to call but the local number directs you to a call center where they are completely unhelpful. Before heading to the pharmacy I went online for hours to make sure this isnt one of the Walgreens where they close the pharmacy for lunch. But when I arrived they were closed and there was no sign. I started to shop at this Walgreens as soon as they opened, a few years back. The people here have always been helpful, polite, and friendly. During COVID I've been doing a lot of my non-grocery shopping here because it is so easy to just drop in and pick up what I need without having to deal with lines or unmasked people. The pharmacists and pharmacy staff are the best. They know everything about my meds and OTC drugs too. And they always have a smile for me when I come in. Walgreens is great. read more

The store in Hillcrest used to be my choice for a pharmacy until the pandemic. Now it's a poor excuse for a business. Long waits, wrong medications, frequently out of prescribed drugs. I have no love for the CVS in Hillcrest but it's better (though not cleaner) than Walgreens. So unfortunate. read more

Not the biggest but probably the greatest staff in a Walgreens. I live a block away and frequest the store often. Its small, parking is never a hassle and clean. There is always a seasonal section and everything always goes on sale. I have never visited the pharmacy so I can't speak for the staff or prices there. When you enter the store you are always courteously greeted. When there are more then 2 people waiting at the register someone always steps up to help. Candy sections always have some good quality chocolates on sale. Medicine is comparably priced. I wish they had more male hair products on sale or available. read more

The wait times at this pharmacy for a simple pickup have gotten ridiculous. They started a pickup-only line (a good idea) but they don't enforce it. Today there were 6 people in line and one person at the registers. Twice now I've waited more than 15 minutes to pick up prescriptions. Next time this happens I'm transferring all my stuff to CVS. read more

Very Disappointed. Walked all the to this Hillcrest location to pick up medicine and personal hygiene items. Good way to get my Morning exercise When I arrived I had to go to the Bathroom. When I asked a worker rudely told me they don't have public restrooms. Wow, I understand there is a homeless problem and allowing anyone use the bathrooms can be a problem! But customers?? Really. Well I am happy to say that I am no longer a customer. After I walked a few blocks to Rite Aid and shopped, AND USED THE BATHROOM, I transferred my prescriptions to Rite Aid. People were a lot friendlier and they know how to treat their customers. Will never go back to Walgreens!! read more

I am sitting in their parking lot snd am livid! I have a prescribed monthly medication from my specialist and the pharmacist refused to dispense it, stating he had to talk with dr first. This was not a controlled substance & I've been picking this up from a different Walgreens for a number of years, just not at this location. It's been in their system all this time, which he stated was not the case. If that were so he wouldn't have been able to fill from their computer when I called for a refill, & I explained that to him. Since when is a pharmacist able to override a monthly medication prescribed by a specialist that Is in their system that shows it being dispersed on a monthly basis?? This was insane & I will Never return here. Oh, & this was after waiting in a very long line. The gentleman at the counter was awesome tho! read more

Have been coming to this Walgreens since the opened. Just a few blocks from my house so very convenient. All in all the entire staff is very helpful. The Pharmacy staff is the greatest. Karisa, Kristen, Krista are fantastic. They are extremely helpful with questions prompt and courteous. If there is ever an issue it's always the doctors office that lacks the follow up. Absolutely horrible pharmacy. I have been here twice and both times took over an hour. The first time, the staff took their lunch break late and didn't know how to use an analogue clock, so the posted "return time" was an hour early. Yesterday I went to pick up multiple prescriptions and spent 45 minutes in line before three people. I was not impressed and asked the pharmacy staff if this location is always such a "disaster." Apparently my discomfort with the situation was too much fir another customer to handle as he started screaming and cursing at me, so I made the staff call the manager and they blamed me. Umm, it's normal to get irritated at pharmacies? And no one was yelling or holding up the line until this random customer started screaming at me. I would have been done with my transaction and left the store had this disturbed man not been so preoccupied with my tone and body language. As I calmly explained to him how psychological projection works, he began to maniacally flail his arms and I said he should be removed from the store. Fay, the manager, refused, and decided to take the side of the belligerent customer, when there was NO confrontation, raised voices or profanity from me until this man started yelling at me. It is absolutely WRONG for Fay to have taken his side when she wasn't there for the beginning of the altercation which is when he started screaming at me. I should not have to put up with this in Walgreens stores. I'm contacting corporate and the store manager, Arnie. read more

This store never opens on time. There is always a group of people waiting at the door. I am currently standing outside and they are late opening, yet again. BTW it is not 1 or 2 minutes, more like 10 minutes up to 45 minutes. I do not recommend this store. There is a CVS down the street always open and better sales. read more

I would like to say that my experience at Walgreens last night was very welcoming and the employee by the name of Cirillo has gotten a 5 star rating from me, because he has excellent people skills and great customer service skills. And their Iphone app is very user friendly so simple to order Rx refill, photos etc. Rewards points are kept electronically so no need to bring in " your coupons" like most places required that still work in the dinosaur era!! I live 4 blocks from here so it's my go-to pharmacy for all my prescriptions but I usually come by in the mornings. The head pharmacist woman is very kind and has always been extremely helpful as well as the tall, young woman cashier at the pharmacy during the days. With that being said, I did a night visit to grab a prescription recently and the female, Latina cashier that was working at the pharmacy appeared unhappy and unwilling to help me from the moment she walked up. Yeah I get it. It's late, you're tired. So am I. But when she pulled up my name and order she said, "have you ever taken ### before?", loudly announcing the name of my medication deliberately. Pretty unbelievable not to mention rude, embarrassing and very unprofessional. Not sure what her deal was, but honestly, if I was a supervisor that overheard that exchange I would have pulled her off the floor. When I asked her if there was a way she could update my "card on file" she said "sorry, I'm past that screen" lol. What a miserable creature. There should be someone a little kinder and more respectful interacting with people at this location. Super disappointed and upset about this. read more

Called ahead about a prescription, they said it'd be ready when I arrived. I arrive and they said it'd take 10-15 minutes because they're backed up. 30 minutes later I go up and ask for an update, they tell me it'll be just a minute. 10 minutes later it's finally ready. Would've much rather had them tell me it'll be a while upfront so I could've picked it up another time or known I'd be waiting a while. Other frustrated customers with long wait times too. read more

sunday, july 17th. 11.30am. just off the phone with the so called "pharmacist" of 301 university in hillcrest. WOW!! he was sooooo rude! never have i ever been treated so poorly at this pharmacy. the man spoke so quickly and spoke over me. he definitely was frazzled and razzed more than likely due to short staff (which he did not hesitate to tell me) and he had to answer the phone (awh, poor pharmacist!!). i did not mind holding (typical for this store). good employees are hard to find these days! lol. i finally was able to get my rx's 'refilled'. i had some questions about the refills and his retort was 'i am only the messenger'!! who says that to a customer!!! who hired this guy!?!??! needs uptraining on customer service skills or he needs to take a tranquilizer. read more

I asked a store associate and Joshua overheard me. He recommended a product and gave me suggestions for a quick fix! He really went above and beyond. I would call my prescriptions in days in advance and not have be ready when I arrived. Their own staff always said they never had enough staff. The staff here at the Walgreens have been amazing. I have to make time to say how awesome they were. First and foremost it is the cleanest and most organized Walgreens I have been to. One of the best Walgreens I've been to in the nation. I've been to a lot of Walgreens locations because I travel often and need my meds filled. The pharmacy staff are incredibly friendly. The store is clean. Everyone is attentive to help. There is a parking lot behind the store with 30 minute parking for customers. Very easy and convenient!! I've never really shopped at Walgreen's but they've been popping up everywhere now. They offer a monthly coupon book with a ton of coupons and savings in it. The regular priced items are little expensive but if you keep a look out for the sales plus a coupon you'll score a great deal. Sign up for their free rewards card too the points will add up to Walgreen's cash. The store is incredibly well kept and the staff is really friendly. I've been noticing how awesome their uniforms are compared to other stores. Yesterday I saw an employee with a tweed 3 button vest with the store logo embroidered on it. Better than a plain polo. You'll still find yourself running into some homeless people but not as often as I do at CVS. read more

I'm a big fan of walgreens. They have a really convenient location, and our right in the heart of my favorite area in San Diego so I come here often. The staff is friendly, the area is clean only thing is it can get a bit crowded at times but that is expected with the neighborhood you're in. Also a cool thing is the parking it's super hard to find parking around hillcrest.. I'm sure you know this so it's awesome that they offer parking to us customers. Very clean Walgreens in the heart of University/Hillcrest area. Everything was organized and the employees were friendly. Stuff here though is pricey compared to a Walmart or Target (a Colgate ultra soft toothbrush ran me over $5). Its a good stop if you don't have time to head out to the big 2. read more

A prescription was called in for me from my doctor's office over an hour ago. When I showed up, they claimed they never got the call even though I was standing next to the MA when she called the script in and spoke directly to the pharmacist. It turns out, the pharmacist that took the call had gone on lunch right after, and never processed the rx. An hour and a half later, it is still not filled. The least they could do is own up to their mistake rather than trying to make my doctor's office look incompetent. read more
