After my regular Walgreens closed, I transferred my prescriptions to the Bird location. I was happy to see familiar faces from Hamilton/Meridian. I've not had any major issues with this location, I found it great that T. was concerned about a particular prescription. Once I explained my knee surgery all was good. As far as shopping, no issues. I'm discovering I prefer Walgreens to Target, simply because it's not a crazy madhouse. (and I'm boycotting Target, it's been painless) read more

Worst customer service ever. I dropped off my film to be developed on Feb. 6th, sign said it would be ready the following Thursday after 5pm I gave them a few extra days and went in the following weekend. They told me it takes 10 business days and would be ready on Feb 22nd, which is not what the advertisement says, but whatever. I went back on Feb 25th and the same girl said my photos were still not ready, and didn't know when they would be. She told me I could call the 1-800 #, and when I asked her for the number she told me I could look online. read more

I booked my vaccination appointment at 11:15am while eventually, I decided to walk out at 11:45am without getting my vaccines. This pharmacy strangely could not find a way to use my Rx prescription card. They called multiple times the Express Scripts (the provider of the Rx card) and they verified my information but not sure what they wanted beyond whatever is already in the prescription card. They asked me also to call the provider and no issue was found from the provider's side. I previously did all my vaccinations and prescriptions at CVS and not sure why this Walgreens branch cannot figure out the way to use the Rx prescription cards. Anyway, during my presence to take my vaccine from 11:15am to 11:45am, I could see that only one person could receive his vaccine successfully while around 10 people were still waiting. This is not acceptable. I took my prior vaccines at CVS without any waiting (multiple branches). There was no line at CVS and all the vaccines were done successfully within the appointment period without any delay. read more

You all know the story: "I've been coming here for years but something something downhill!" I never thought it would happen to me until it did. Been a customer for around 15 years. This is a story about how I've come the closest I've ever been to uttering those words out loud. What words? First, let's establish the setting. It was busy, one register down so another employee took over a secondary register. I really wish she hadn't. This employee rushed customers through the checkout process. And I don't mean rushed as in the employee works so fast and the customers have to keep up. No, this was more a thinly veiled *hurry up and get out of here you dumb jerks* kind of attitude. There was an older woman waiting by the counter before myself and a few other customers. When I was next, I asked this woman if she wanted to go first. The employee took this opportunity to interject, not so kindly reminding me that it was in fact *I* who was next in line (oh, gee, thanks I didn't know *sarcasm*). She then went on to explain to me how a line works. Imagine my amusement (and the amusement of the good-natured dude behind me) when I found out that, in fact, the person (when queued) positioned closest to the register is what is labeled as "next" and this person gets to make their purchase. Thank you for reminding me! She continued to explain to me how to advance through the prompts and how essentially, she just wants the customers out of there. Which is fine, I get it. I've worked retail before and I know dealing with people all day is just terrible. I don't feel entitled to having employees serenade me as I walk through the store and make a purchase, I don't even feel entitled to cordial interaction - but at the very least don't passive aggressively insult me and be downright rude to someone that's just trying to buy some snacks. I can't help it if the other register is down. I can't help it if other customers are rude or slow. This situation, needless to say, left me feeling a bit irked. I walked back to my car and put my snacks in passenger seat. Then I thought about the whole situation and words resounded in my head that I always feared hearing back in my own customer service days: "let me speak to your manager." Now, I never want to be *that* type of customer. I weighed my options as I looked over the receipt. And that's where I saw it: the customer service survey. Does Walgreens actually care? Probably not but maybe. I ended up doing two things I've never done before. First, I walked back in the store and asked her what her name was. She asked me why I wanted to know. Lady, what do you think? You think I'm trying to buy you a birthday card or something? You know why I want to know and that's exactly why she didn't give me her name. Fine, I guess we'll never know - or maybe the survey know. Who knows? And those were the two things. And I guess there's this too, so make that three things. To that employee. Lady, if working this job makes you feel this way then - what are you doing here? I know customer service sucks, people suck. And now look what you've become. You've become those very people that you hate. There's a movie line or two somewhere in here. I'm not made, I'm just disappointed. Well actually, I'm a little mad. To all my fellow people just trying to buy your things and skip the rude service experience: just go one more light down (or less depending on what direction you're coming from) to the grocery store. Much better selection and they tend to be much friendlier - or at least they're not downright rude to people. read more

DO NOT shop here (besides using the pharmacy). I was walking through an aisle and stopped for a second to look at something, a woman told me "move" in a rude and frankly very sassy tone. As I walked down the next aisle, she talked with another woman about how stupid I was for standing there and pretending to look at something. The rude woman was talking to a worker, but I'm not sure if she was one herself. They went on for a minute talking about me, speaking in loud voices, knowing that I could hear them. I have never been so disrespected at a store. I do not plan on shopping here again. If that is how the workers treat customers I hope this store goes out of business very soon. It's too bad though because everyone I've dealt with in the pharmacy seems very polite and helpful. If you do decide to shop here, don't do it on a Wednesday afternoon or you will likely get yelled at for stopping to look at something by a large angry lady. read more

Fed ex delivery pick up area is great! Unfortunately none of the employees (including the ASM) realized or told a family of three that they had to wear masks inside. The mom was wearing one, the dad was wearing one under his nose and mouth (entire face exposed; mask only covering his chin), and the son (about 10 years old) just wasn't wearing one. You'd think that walgreens had rules against this. Or this particular store just didn't care. I told the ASM that they should really be wearing a mask and he in a hush tone apologized not even a "I'll get on that" attitude. Older woman with super black hair was extremely rude and unprofessional. I came in at 9:40pm on 2/24/24 to pick up a package I and while I was at it get some snacks. I had no idea there was a cut off time for packages and I was willing to come back tomorrow since there's a 5 day holding rule. However she insisted she'd help me after she complained about it first. We walk over and she get annoyed and gives me attitude when she can't find my package. It was a CHEWY package so it's not hard to find. She then told me to COME BEHIND THE COUNTER AND LOOK FOR THE PACKAGE MYSELF WHICH I DID RIGHT AWAY. I had the confirmation on my phone FedEx didn't send me the QR code this time but that hasn't been an issue in the past the employees would skip it once they confirmed my info. She then complained about how the package has been there too long and they were sending my it back...it's been 3 days...LIKE WTF...and I mentioned it wasn't. We came here looking for soup and some random hardware item that the boy needed. I dunno. I don't fix stuff, I make other people do it. They didn't have my soup, but had cute little black padlocks which I hadn't seen before. Win! Their shelf items were in pretty small amounts, and thus when there's a sale they clean out as to be expected from a small Walgreens, but this one was older looking and staler than usual, with the registers in aisle style. I'd rather take the trek to Safeway. A few minutes longer for a better variety. read more

This is a bad pharmacy. The corporation that owns Walgreens has cut way back on the Pharmacy at Bird and Willow. It is understaffed. Staff has been cut to 3 people. The people work hard and try to serve customers but it is not enough. They can not fill prescriptions on time. I have waited 9 days for a prescription I should to take every day, and they cannot find it anywhere. It takes an hour to get through by phone, with hang ups every 20 minutes. Going to the pharmacy takes more than an hour of waiting. It is often closed for lunch, closes at 6pm and not open on weekends. It used to be a great pharmacy but no more. Walgreens should close this pharmacy or double the staff and treat them better. read more

I really like this location but the pharmacy is complete trash. The manager Jenny is horrible, it's like she doesn't want to give you your medication. I've been going here for about two years and she just got hired and she has horrible customer service skills they don't acknowledge you when you get there they make you stand there for like five minutes before even looking at you and when you fill your prescription they make you wait extra day because they're on some kind of power trip it's ridiculous. This pharmacy is the worst. Hours are short, they're randomly at lunch, and they constantly lose my prescription requests. I can get a text that my meds are ready, and show up to complete denial of knowing about it. I tried auto refill, but it stopped after one successful instance. There's always a line or a reason you have to wait. They haven't even been able to correct my address in nearly 10 years since I moved. Go anywhere else. This review is for the photo department. My family went here to get passport photos and the gentleman working was very rude. The photos wouldn't be ready "in minutes" and I would have to return in the morning. Cut to next morning...I'm here to pick up the photos and there's no record of photos taken and they can't find the camera. So now what?!?!?! They've taken "my" drug store (Longs) and turned it into some weird place I don't want to be, so I have turned to Walgreens. I have always thought that Walgreens was more expensive than Longs, but I am not feeling it at CVS. This Walgreens is near the studio where I teach in Willow Glen so this is where I end-up. I usually go up the first aisle which is right through the make-up area and that clerk is so nice. I always feel like I am running into an old friend. We don't talk or anything she just is really warm and welcoming which always makes me pause a moment because I am not accustom to such a warm welcome (in a store). I know it is a "marketing" ploy, but I feel like she really enjoys saying hello. And the ploy works. I feel warm and fuzzy as I walk through the aisle. I can't tell you much about selection and prices because I feel that stores now-a-days have to carry so much of everything that they often don't have anything. I mean, there are so many versions of just one product they don't have shelf room to offer more products. The store is clean, the staff is nice, I have chosen it over CVS. read more

Walgreens is good place to come if you need Almond Roca, Snuggies or the latest As-Seen-On-TV item. You can get in and out of this Walgreens quick--even if there's a line and parking is easy. The store is clean and clerks are friendly. I come here for the Redbox ($1 DVD vending machine inside the store) and the great photo department. You can upload your photos online and pick them up at Walgreens an hour later. You can create photo collages (which make great gifts) in minutes. In a hurry, you can buy a frame from Walgreens and you have an instant "thoughtful" gift. But if you really want to give someone a meaningful present--buy the frame somewhere else. I have been visiting this store for about 31 years; however, I have to say that over the past year the pharmacy service has deteriorated to a dismal level. Prescriptions take forever to fill and when the manufacturer is changed there is no notice. One time I didn't notice that the tablet dosage changed. I was supposed to be cutting the tablet in half, but no one in the pharmacy notified me of the change in dosage. The line to pick up filled prescriptions can take 20 minutes. What was really annoying was that some guy said he has express pickup and jumped to the front of the line - really annoying. I would think that after coming to the pharmacy for so line, I could have been informed on out to obtain Express pickup. The plexiglass at the counter and masks on employees make it hard to understand them. It seems their prescription volume has significantly expanded over the past year, yet they always seem to have to wait for a shipment to arrive before some of my prescriptions and be filled. These prescriptions are long-term medications, so I would think they would make sure to have enough supply on hand at all times. I guess I would not make a good pharmacist, because I believe is great customer service. Over the past six months, I have seen the pharmacist and the Tech working to fill prescriptions and one sole clerk is serving the customers, even when there are long lines. Is this a rant? Probably. I'm so frustrated, I'm seriously considering moving to Costco or using the prescription service offered by my insurance company. I have been a costumer of this Walgreens since before I could drive. I have lived in San Jose my entire life and this Walgreens is conveniently located off the freeway and near my home so I usually pick this location for prescriptions. The problems I have with this Walgreens over the years is: 1. The interior is never updated and it seems kinda ghetto. I know it is your typical drug store but I feel they could update the interior to make it look a little nicer since it is located on the outskirts of Willow Glen 2. The cashiers are super slow. They hire a bunch of older women for check out and these women take forever. I am not trying to discriminate against age but when your age is getting in the way of your ability to do your job, I think it is time to retire or be place in a different location of the job. 3. The pharmacists are rude and are super slow. I have seen them be rude not just with me but with other customers. It surprises me how they think they can talk to people just because we are purchasing our meds from these people. They too are also older so I believe it goes with age since they happen to all be older as well which I think causes them to take longer in fulfilling prescriptions. I have picked up my prescriptions numerous times from these place and each time I am waiting at the desk forever to be addressed or even for them to get my meds. I am tired of waiting 15 minutes on my lunch breaks. Today I just left the line and I am going to have my meds moved to a different location, maybe one the one downtown. Yes, I rather shop at the one where the lady was killed with the samurai sword than shop here again. read more

Just learned about coupons and coupon stacking. Can you tell I am very, very bored with a baby in sleepy WG? I always suspected the cashier of stealing my register rewards in the past, but I never cared. Now that I understand the system and want my bonuses, I watched the cashier blantantly look at the Catalina printer coupons and hand me my receipt without them. She tried to hurry me along by telling the next customer to step up. I stared her down and asked if I could have them. (Not all employees are on the take. The Asian dude is nice and the cashier in cosmetics always gives me the RRs.) Look, not a big deal, but some of the register rewards are $10. We would like to compliment the pharmacy staff at the San Jose, Bird Avenue, location. This was not our first Walgreens and no doubt will continue to be our store of choice. Over the past 13 years that I've lived here in the Silicon Valley, I've frequented about five different pharmacies and certainly this location is the best I have found here, or San Diego, or Orange County. Remarkable customer service really hit me in the face when we were in Orlando and discovered we were running out of a prescription. This was complicated in the renewal of the prescription as we wanted to make sure that we got our full value with the insurance and end of the year finances. Walgreens remarkable computer system allowed a seamless transfer of our prescription from coast to coast. But the people behind the machines, in this case specifically Mark Ruiz, had their hands on our renewal to make sure everything was fine. Upon returning from our trip, Mark greeted us by name. I don't think that's because we are his most frequent customer but it's because his predecessor, Gary Landi, mentored did their staff on remarkable customer service. Mark continues in Gary's model, one I believe that merits recognition. I would be remiss if I get up thanks also Wati, Jose, Rosalie, Maryanne, Lisa, and Bui... their faces are the familiar smiles and warm greetings are guaranteed. Pharmacy: deplorable since the change in management and new staff. More hiccups with poor communication, abhorrent customer service, and mistakes galore with prescriptions being changed and no reasoning to us from the doctor which they should have passed along. And in the end, they showed they don't care. No apologies. No explanation. Just pay and get out, or go elsewhere. When questioned as to why they did not call us to let us know about the change, they had no response. Again: NO RESPONSE. Unacceptable. Such a slap in the face, not to mention dangerous from a medical standpoint in regards to delaying prescriptions for a patient. I have called Walgreens customer service and will be hearing from the district manager soon. In the meantime, steer clear. read more

Wow, went here for to take a passport picture and the lady that came over was so rude. Blank face the entire time she was talking to me and told me I couldn't take a picture because I have a white shirt on and they wouldn't process my application because I had a white shirt on. I have a white dress shirt on in my current passport!! She clearly didn't want to do it and acted like I was keeping her from doing something much more interesting like stocking. Bad photo department. I dropped off film from my son's science camp trip last spring and they ended up loosing the pictures. When I went to pick up my pictures they said to try back in a week. I did this every week for a month until someone was able to track down the pictures. They said because it was a disposable camera they had to send it out to Kodak or something but when the bag was received it was open and got mixed up with some other bags that were opened. They took my name, number and description of the photos and told me they would call if they showed up. It's now fall, and I do check in from time to time to see if they found them but nope. I feel bad for my son who was so excited to get those pictures. :'( read more

This Walgreens has its stuff together. Management must be doing their job. I like this place, its my go to snack shop. They frequently have deals like 2 regular size candy bars for $1.00. They don't often have deals on the chips, but the selection is somewhat decent. The store is usually pretty clean but I don't know if that's due to the employees or the clientele. I've also had really good experiences with the pharmacy. They are really professional and they've always been quick getting people through the line and they always tell you everything you should know without sounding like they're reading off a script. read more
