Based on the name, I thought it would be more open air and exposed to the elements, but the setup was cozier and more sheltered than I anticipated. They have a selection of snacks and beverages available, which was nice, although I do wish they were able to sell alcohol. A beer or glass of wine would have been a great addition to the experience. Overall, it was a unique and enjoyable night out. The atmosphere was great, the movie selection was fun, and I'd definitely go back for another showing.

Once you are inside, all the games are free play, and they have curated such a large collections of games. There is something for everyone here. The only downside was my feet started to hurt from standing in front of games for so long. This place also allows children. I assumed because this place served alcohol it would restrict the age but I attended on a Friday night, around 9 pm and there were still children around. I also loved how they decorated the place, all the neon and wall art. They really put a lot of effort and care into the art. They also had a bar for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, as well as a food menu. Very fun place, definitely worth a visit!

Admission is $25, which gives you access to the games inside. I believe some of the claw machines where you grab prizes may cost extra, but I wasn't completely sure. One nice perk was that if you showed your Padres ticket, you received a complimentary hot dog, chips, and a bottle of water. The food was ready in less than five minutes, which was a great bonus after the game. There are two floors with a lot of different game options including pool tables. I personally loved the air hockey tables (although one was out of order). The basketball games were fun, and the punching games were entertaining as well. I'm not really a big video game person, so I skipped over some of those. Another one of my favorite games they had was Skee-Ball. My biggest complaint was the number of machines that were not working. Pac-Man was broken, one of the air hockey tables was down, the claw machine for candy wasn't working, some of the Skee-Ball games were unavailable, and Tetris was also out of order. For a $25 admission fee, I would expect the machines to be better maintained. I also didn't see anyone actively working on repairs while I was there. The atmosphere was fun, with a mix of kids and adults enjoying the games. They also have a bar area where you can order drinks, including beer (although no beer on tap), frozen daiquiris, and mixed cocktails. Overall, Arcade Monster is a fun place to spend a couple of hours if you enjoy games and are looking for something different to do. I just hope they put more attention into maintaining the machines because that would really elevate the experience.

There are little sections separated by railings, which add a little separation. We paid for the VIP up top (not the four-top tables). We could choose to sit on a counter/bar stool with a thin-line bar top. But, it was farther back and you looked down at the people in front of you. So we moved to the right side in a standing section. The best! On the rail. Had a table to set drinks on. Private bathroom for upper level guests. Way worth it. One thing I wish they did was sell the 4-tops in twos. They are great. It, it's not always easy getting four people together for a show. Oh. Parking is a breeze. Structure across the way validates for concerts.

The venue itself is really huge, I've been for a couple podcast tours but it was always seated so getting to come where there was open floor was fun. It was a multi room escape room and I would consider it a medium to hard level. Our game master was super friendly and helpful when we needed hints. I think we did a total of two hint through out the game and we managed to beat the clock and got out in time! The parking wasn't the best, it was all street parking with meters. When you get to the location it is a bit hard to find the front door because it is on the back side of the building up some stairs. But there is some signage to help you find the door if you get lost.

However, the Japanese Thriller barely felt on theme with the serial killer storyline other than the introduction video we received. I prefer escape rooms where I actually feel like I'm part of the story. This was a very different escape room than I have done before. While you always have to split up for escape rooms, this time we were forced to separate between multiple rooms so you had no idea how the other group was doing (this isn't great when you're forced to solve the room with strangers because you have no idea if they know what they're doing). It was definitely more chaotic than other escape rooms I've done. The rooms were small and they use locks for a lot of the puzzles, which isn't innovative. They also forgot to put back one of the pieces we needed to get the final combination, so we almost didn't make it out because we had to keep guessing. HOWEVER, the worst part of the entire experience was how RUDE the man was that was helping us on the walkie talkie. He would give us attitude every time we asked for a clue. Why give clues if you're going to rude when people use them?

I like that they have a set parking price while you're at the movie, but $11 is pretty steep when you're paying $25 per ticket.
