I wanted to make sure I had enough time to place another order if needed, since the service was the following day. I called the number listed for the funeral home and reached a phone service instead of the actual business. I provided my name, the name of the deceased, and my phone number. The representative didn't ask the reason for my call but said a director would return it. Three hours later, I followed up and reached another agent who informed me the funeral home was closed for the day but would still pass along the message. This time, I was able to explain that I was calling about a service happening the next day. It's been 72 hours since I left those messages, and I still haven't received a response. This doesn't sit well, as communication is a major part of service when planning for a loved one. I don't have a good impression of Walker Funeral Home and would not consider using them in the future.

I don't recall many details…read morefrom the time, due to the stress of the situation, but I will say, my mother looked beautiful in the casket. Her hair and makeup were immaculate. I have been to funerals where the deceased looked awful - not just the makeup, but the hair looked dirty and unkempt. Avance does the best job with mortuary makeup and hair I have ever seen. I remember they gave us all the time in the world, from carefully picking the casket, the flowers, and even transportation of the body all the way to southeastern Kentucky. My experience with them was good. It was several years ago and things may have changed, but I have nothing but good things to say about Avance.

When it was time for passing, the cemetery was gracious and arranging, including a graveside spiritual ceremony at a fee. Visiting your plot, they have a kiosk in the chapel to look up the location of graves by name. The cemetery is well cared for and fine for contemplative visits any time even if you have no peeps there! That's my experience. No idea on new plots or internment requests. My experience was excellent.

Speakers are positioned in the rear of an alcove and there is no sound system available. Therefore those in the rear cannot hear. Those in some of the seats toward one side could not see the speakers (or hear them very well). The seats they provide are hard and uncomfortable. A video presentation was part of the service. It was positioned so that over half the attendees could not see it. With so many excellent venues available in our city there is no reason to ever use Thomas-Justin.

They did a nice job preparing the bodies of my relatives before we had to identify them (required, even with cremation). They have always been very accommodating, even on short notice and during inclement weather (in the middle of a snow storm). I highly recommend their expertise and trust the staff at TP White. They are empathetic and made a difficult process a little easier by handling all the details for us and walking us through each step. The Croxton family is also deeply connected to and invests in the Mt. Washington community and surrounding. They can explain the roles, rules, forms and sequence of events for the state, county and family. They have a responsive voice phone answering service and return calls quickly. Their website works on mobile. They have the capability to fill out all the paperwork online. They work very quickly. Beyond their cremation service, which is very reasonable, they have a whole series of additional services in their funeral home. They can work with relatives out of town, in town, or any combination.

They picked my Dad up at Hospice and had his ashes, veterans flag, and death certificates ready in only 2 days. All the registration is online, so it's very easy to register ahead of a death if you wish. That's what I did since we knew my Dad was dying.
