My cat had some symptoms and I was very concerned about getting her seen today (Friday). I was going out of town on Saturday morning and I needed to make sure she was OK. My REGULAR VET's office closes at 5:30 on Fridays. I drove over there and they were closed and I felt angry. I called the office and the voice mail said the close at 5:30. I was angry because I was so worried and felt they should have left a voice message indicating they were closed. I knew about WALKER VETERINARY HOSPITAL from some friends of mine. They've always had good results there so I drove over there at 3:45. I had an no appointment, but they were very, very nice and said we'll take care of you and kitty. A very kind and helpful vet tech, Janelle, took me back to the room. She was very knowledgeable, she asked me questions and I explained my kitty symptoms. My cat really liked her. She was super gentle. The veterinarian came and examined my kitty and asked me all sorts of questions, Janelle came back with a list of tests. She explained each of the tests again and costs. There were a few I didn't think necessary at this point because I wanted to see what the results of the bloodwork would be, and I felt no pressure or judgment about my decision. My cat was still eating and drinking normally. When I was done, Janelle came back and walked me out to the front and gave me some more information. I have to say during my whole experience with Janelle , she was very lighthearted and friendly. I felt like I have been ripped off with the price. My Lune cat, 14 years old, did not eat food for three days. I took him to see the vet at this location. They just ran an hour blood test and injected a shot. They charged me a total of $908.52, and that did not even include the prescription medication that I had to buy separately, which cost another $157. The total visit to this vet, plus the prescription ordered by the vet at this location, was $1,065.52. I spent this much just to find out that my cat has no serious sickness and he was only dehydrated. Even after I spent that much money, my cat is still not eating or getting better. I brought in an injured stray dog on 10/8 and paid $75, hoping he would receive basic triage. Instead, I was quoted over $2,000 just for diagnostics, and offered "free euthanasia as a Good Samaritan discount." While I wasn't pressured, euthanasia was presented as the only realistic option. No pain medication, wound cleaning, or stabilization was provided. Thankfully I found help through the Bradshaw shelter in Sacramento, where the same dog was stabilized, given pain medication, and scheduled for x-rays. He is recovering - proving he was not "hopeless" as I was led to believe here. I wish this clinic had shown more compassion by offering affordable middle-ground options, even just basic pain relief or triage imaging. My experience with Walker Veterinary Hospital was disappointing. About a year ago, my husband informed the staff that we could no longer afford their services after a quote and would be seeking care elsewhere due to financial constraints. He paid the required $75 missed appointment fee at the time, and he believed the matter was resolved. More recently, I called to schedule a same-day appointment for our cat after he was injured in a fight, as they were the only vet in town with a same-day appointment available. The appointment was initially accepted, but several hours later I received a call informing me that we were no longer allowed to bring our pets there. I was confused because I had no knowledge of the previous situation and was told they would not see our cat, even though I was the one bringing him in and he needed medical attention. Being turned away after an appointment had already been scheduled was frustrating and stressful, especially when our pet required prompt care. Since then, we have received much better service and compassion from Geisert Animal Hospital. Their staff has been helpful, professional, and willing to work with us when our pets need care. Tried this office again and while the vet techs were friendly and helpful. The excessively inflated quotes for care of my senior dog was heinous !!!! For sutures and lab work, I was quoted $3100 dollars!! I was asked what was my budget and I said 1200, to provide bandage or cleaning of the wounds and pain medication along with antibiotics. The tech came back and said the Doctor said no, he could not remove any of the itemized items for her care. To not even provide basic first aid for a patient/dog is reprehensible and negligent. $1200 dollars wasn't enough for the Demon Vet!!! Will be reported definitely to the Vet Board!!!!! read more

While all of the staff at Walker Vet is great, this review is especially for Dr. Connie. Dr. Connie is the best vet, hands down, I have ever worked with. I have seen different vets in Sacramento, Elk Grove, Lodi, and Stockton and Dr. Connie remains the absolute best. She is kind, compassionate, and very straight forward. She is very good at presenting all treatment options and explaining their pros and cons. She will also give your her honest opinion on what she feels might be the best course of action. And never once have I felt she was recommending that to "upsell" me, it is because she believes that is truly the best option. I have come to trust her opinion as an expert when it comes to my animals. She has seen me through very simple wellness exams, to complex problems that required specialists, and even to the difficult choice to putting a pet down. this was a very last minute appointment after our sweet boy ended up very sick and needed an abdominal ultrasound that We were not able to obtain at our regular vet's office. The office staff was extraordinarily kind and thorough and fit us in very quickly. The vet was also extremely thorough, addressed our concerns and took her time to explain everything that she recommended as well as what she would be doing once we chose a course of treatment/ diagnostics. Our baby boy ended up being in the office for much longer than we had planned on, but I felt good about it the whole entire time because we were kept informed, and it was very obvious that he was there because the vet was being so thorough with all the diagnostics that she was completing. Although the outcome did not end up being positive it is through no fault of the Pet Hospital itself, rather the unfortunate circumstances of our baby being diagnosed with cancer likely present for a long time but previously undetectable. It was very obvious that they were in this to do what was best for our boy rather than just meeting their bottom line. Yes, it is a business, but it is also very obvious where ones priorities lie when push comes to shove...Despite the heartbreaking outcome and the subsequent loss of our sweet boy, this was a wonderful experience, and I would not hesitate to return if we had any further needs. We were traveling and had an emergency with our puppy so I called Walker Veterinary Hospital and they told me to bring her in. Everyone there is so kind, professional, and caring and I'm so glad we ended up there. The vet we saw soothed my worries and said it's most likely a minor seizure but I wanted to do a test on her heart to rule possible issues there out but the vet didn't push any additional tests except what I asked for and he reassured me that most of the things it could be are very treatable. It's a business not a pet hospital unfortunately. They make money off of sick pets so why would they try to actually help, if your pet is perpetually sick then they have a constant stream of income to stay afloat. We put one of our dogs on a plan for free visits for the year, but they treat those visits like we're getting a discount and so we don't deserve full service? The first visit was nice and they seemed to help my dog, but on his follow up the Vet barely talked to us and said our dog needs more expensive treatments. And we've had him on his treatment for 2 weeks and he's gotten worse. Unfortunately they are greedy and don't actually care about your pet. We took our other dog there after the first dogs trip and the second dog died in their care and they said it was our fault. So that's the group you'll be taking your pet too. read more

I normally don't leave reviews, but after my experience today I felt like I had to share. I went back to this vet clinic to follow up about a refund for my cat, who sadly passed away here. The doctor had originally told my sister they would refund part of the visit since surgery was never performed. When I arrived today, the front desk girl, Kristina, was immediately rude and dismissive. There were no other clients waiting, but she acted irritated that I was even asking questions. I tried to explain that I had spoken with someone the day before (whose name started with an M), and she made a face like she was annoyed I even asked. When I told her my cat had passed away, she didn't express a single word of sympathy or kindness. Not that it's her fault my cat passed, but this is a pet hospital -- you'd expect at least a little compassion in situations like this. Throughout the whole interaction, her tone was short and her attitude made the entire process uncomfortable. When I asked for a breakdown of what was refunded, she acted like my questions were a bother -- snapping with "What's your question?" instead of just explaining things calmly. Thankfully, Marla, another staff member, was kind and tried to help where she could. I really appreciated her patience and understanding -- she was the only one who showed even a little bit of compassion. Overall, the experience left me very upset. Losing a pet is already heartbreaking, and having to return to the same place where they passed is painful enough. The last thing anyone should deal with in that moment is someone with an attitude, especially in a setting where empathy should come naturally. I truly hope management takes this as feedback and reminds staff how important compassion and professionalism are -- especially when dealing with grieving pet owners. read more

Our doggie Bandit has been a patient for about five months now. The first initial visit was fine and we have no complaints with the level of service, time and attention that was provided. However, on the second visit today, hubby and I walked away so disappointed with the level of service, time and attention, or rather, the lack thereof. We will not be going back, not even for the follow up visit that was advised in seven days. We had a 3:20pm appointment and we showed up a few minutes early. We walked out of the office at 4:55pm. During those 95 minutes, we spent about 10 minutes with the tech and about five minutes with the doctor. The other 80 minutes were spent siting in either the front lobby or the inner exam room. We didn't even get all of our concerns and questions addressed and answered because the doctor was too busy and didn't have anymore time for us. The only benefit of those 80 minutes sitting and waiting was it allowed hubby and I to research other local vets that we will take our Bandit to in seven days, because we will not return to Walker. Brought in our husky/rott mix Maya with a hole poked in her eye (probably by my rose bushes). Dr. Singh was gentle, thorough, and came up with a solution that was less expensive than removing the eye, and saved the eye. Not only did the procedure save the eye, she actually has some peripheral vision as far as we can tell. I wouldn't take my sick dog anywhere else. I was so pleased with his care each time, and the time he took to examine her and really figure out a good solution. God bless all of them. read more

My 13 year old GSD woke up in horrible shape, I panicked and called numerous vets in my area. Walker Vet made time to get her in within an hour. I knew it was time for her to cross the Rainbow Bridge. The staff were all really nice. I wish I had gotten the vets name but I was a total wreck. He was absolutely kind and gentle with Zoey in her last moments. He was patient and comforting with me. I walked out in tears, but I knew it was the best thing for her. When it comes to emergencies prices aren't everything but not only were they able to get her in the soonest, they also had the most reasonable price for the service to help her cross. I couldn't afford a special package with the extras but today something showed up in the mail. It was a card from Walker Vet with Zoey's paw and nose print. Established in 1960's and still in business for a reason. I love Walker Vet and will recommend it till I can't anymore. Nothing but good experiences here. I've brought several cats here, one deceased due to underlying circumstances. When I had brought him in there was no hesitancy and they offered right away to perform live saving emergency care. No bill, no estimate, no talk of numbers- they just wanted to save my baby's life. The staff, techs, and doctors, truly are passionate for animals and it shows in their tone, care, and overall environment. They had given me the answers I was looking for when two other practices threw them out the window. My son Arthur had been brought in on emergency circumstances and within an hour they were able to pinpoint that it was a severe URI. Right away he was taken in and treated, none of the awkward silence when handing me an estimate. Even after he was scheduled for pickup they let him stay upon request for further monitoring and making sure the treatment is doing what it was supposed to. My 2 dogs and I just finished our first time visit to Walker Veterinary Hospital. My dogs history was taken by an efficient young Vet Tech named Fred, he also gently instructed me how to clean my dogs ears, and demonstrated how to apply the ear medication. Per the veterinarian orders. Dr Connie is my new Vet. This young graduated from U C Davis school of Veterinary Sciences, so a local Veterinarian. She gave both of my dogs a through exam, in my opinion the best exam my dogs have had since Dr. Vicuña from Hardin vet. Examined them when they were puppies. Un fortunately Dr. Vicuña has long retired. This Vet. didn't push extra testing, like chemistry tests. Dr. Connie appears to be a qualified, gentle, and caring Veterinarian. The 2 Star is for the pricing. They might actually be good but I wouldn't know because I was only charged for the exam and some stool softener, which came out to around $130. I'm rounding up. I can't afford that, but paid it anyway with the help of my son. For the test and x-rays, it was a ridiculous $1300. I'm rounding up. I'm trying to help my, around 20-year-old cat just be comfortable. I know he is most likely going to pass someday soon. He has a swollen belly and he's not eating a lot. He's losing weight. I just didn't feel helped at all at Walker Veterinary Hospital. Now I have to try to save up some money and look around for someone cheaper to try and help. My money is tight. By the way, they offer euthanization for $300. I'm rounding down. That is not including a bunch of other stuff the girl was saying as I blocked out what she said after $300. I am still thinking about how my cat was not really helped. I'm distraught. You would think they would at least try and work out some sort of payment plan or something but they don't do that here. This review is solely on the business practice and not the quality of care received. Their techs and vets are caring and kind. Definitely not the same as Dr Boden, but I don't think the new generation of vets will ever be the caliber of the vets that are retiring now. If you use a credit card be forewarned that you will be charged a substantial credit card fee. Not only that but you're not really given the opportunity to discuss said fees as the credit card reader is brought to the examination room so you may never see the sign about charges It's definitely a convenience to utilize a credit card but $30.00 in charges seem very steep. read more

Went in during the day 10:00 am , visits are usually 49.00 , I walked in during regular business hours and they said it'll be $150- just to see my dog and called it an "Emergency" visit during the day on a standard walk in. How is regular hours considered an Emergency . Raking customers across the coals is their business . Terrible practice and ethics. I was trying to adopt a dog from CCLRR a well established organization. I had a dog but there was some problems and I wanted the dog checked out. My regular vet was booked for a week so I tried Walker. I made an appt but it turns out that because CCLRR was going to cover the exam they wanted them to forward a COPY of a credit card and ID via EMAIL!!!!! Are you serious...a photocopy of a credit card via email... I would NEVER do such a thing and honestly this was the first time I had EVER encountered such a request from ANYONE!!! I mean c'mon people get ripped off all the time in the internet and you want CCLRR to post a PHOTO of a credit card. If this is an example of your protocols I want NOTHING to do with your vet practice. And I will tell ANYONE who asks to not use their services. About 2 weeks ago, it felt like my life turned upside down. I received a phone call from my wife crying and saying something was wrong with Rocky and that he was bleeding and possibly dying. This is not the phone call anyone wants to get. I rushed across town to get home. I was able to call the hospital and get a hold of the doctor. Dr. Singh informed me to bring him to the hospital ASAP and they are ready to treat him. He told me to put pressure on the wound. I rushed home, grabbed Rocky and rushed him to Walker Veterinary Hospital. I wasn't able to find where he was bleeding from but he had blood all over his body. Soon as we arrived at the hospital, the staff came out to attend to Rocky. We rushed him to the ER and they started to treat him right away. I knew time was of the essence and every second counted. After tending to him and getting him stabilized, they took us into the Exam room to tell us what had happened to my best friend Rocky. Rocky had a seizure and since he kept on paddling, his nail came off. That is what caused all of the blood to come out and why he was covered in blood. They did blood work on him and put him on antibiotics and anti seizure meds. Rocky is stable now. My family and I cannot thank Dr. Singh and his staff enough for their quick response, their expertise and the love and care they showed not only Rocky, but to my family as well. We would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to our boy. They went above and beyond to help Rocky. They followed up on how he was doing and told us to inform them if we see anything irregular with him. Rocky is now back to being Rocky. King of the house. From the bottom of our hearts, we know Rocky is alive today due to Walker Veterinary Hospital.
