I have heard about this business for years, but I also heard that it's expensive, so I hesitated to try. One day when I was trying to wear my favorite cashmere cardigan, I noticed that there were a few moth holes. In the past, I used to take sweaters with moth holes to a store in Bellevue Square, but that store has been gone for years. Therefore, I decided to use this cashmere cardigan to try. I was thinking because it's my favorite, even if it would be expensive, as long as it's done well I would be willing to pay. I walked into the store, and Victor was helping another customer. He was friendly and asked me kindly to wait a little bit. I looked around, and it seemed that he also made customized suits etc. Then I showed him my cashmere cardigan. I asked how much it would cost. He told me that each hole would be like $2-3, which was totally reasonable. When it's ready for pick up, Victor gave me a call. It was ready within the timeframe that he had promised. I went to pick up my cardigan, and all the moth holes have been fixed nicely. How much did it cost? Only $8!! Now I am a fan. Victor is a MASTER. he has saved me so much money in purchasing NEW clothing/coats. he has tailored, shortened, taken in lots of items. if you need something tailored for a special occasion, Victor is your guy. Viktor is very good at what he does. This is the only place I go to for quality tailoring. It can be expensive depending on the item, but worth the cost as I am vertically challenged and need items to look original in a custom sort of way. Pretty terrible customer service with victor. Went in with a dress that cost all of $99, all i needed was 3 inches off the bottom. He calls me and tells me it's $132. I was SHOCKED. Everywhere else I called was $30-$50 but were too backed up to get it done in time. The only positive I'll say is he got it done in 2 days. When I questioned the price he got irritated and told me how much time he spent (2 hours) and that "for you I'm going to lose business? No". What a terrible customer experience and I will NOT be going back. Super bummed as I love to support small shops and work with them to meet in the middle and leave feeling happy. He was unwilling and rather get his money and lose a customer in the end. read more

If I can save one person from going to this establishment, I will feel better. I went her on the recommendation of a friend on Mercer Island. I had called Nordstrom to see what they would charge but felt like it would be more convenient to stay on Island. I went in and Victor (the owner) took the measurements and told me they'd be ready in a week. When I went back to pick them up, he informed me that they were $200 per suit. Nordstrom was going to charge me $125 per suit. I have to admit I was in shock. When I asked him why it was so expensive, he immediately got irate and raise his voice. He stood there, barking at me, telling me how difficult it was. Frankly, I've been having suits mended like those for years with the same type of alterations and it's never been that exorbitant. His attitude sucked. I will never go back to him. read more

My fiance rented tuxedos for himself and his three groomsmen from Dale at Wall Street Clothiers. We were looking for some place a little classier and nicer than the chain tuxedo rental shops (i.e. not for prom) and Wall Street Clothiers surpassed our expectations. Dale (Manager) did an amazing job coordinating measurements and fittings with the groomsmen from around the country. The tuxedos looked fantastic and fit very well. My fiance wanted to have his jacket tapered slightly at the waist and Dale's tailor was able to do this on the spot. Dale also was willing to drive to the various hotels downtown where the groomsmen were staying for pick-ups the next morning which was very convenient. Finally, we were so impressed with our initial interactions with Dale and WS Clothiers that we decided to buy custom shirts as groomsmen gifts. Dale was fantastic at helping me discretely find out the extra measurements needed for shirts to surprise the groomsmen at the rehearsal dinner. He also put together a great sheet with the needed selections (cuff, color etc.). All around, a first rate experience. Highly recommended. read more

I don't complain often or write many reviews of places I've visited, but I have to share my experience at Wall Street Custom Clothiers. I unfortunately didn't have the pleasure of dealing with Dale which, based on the other review, would have enhanced my opinion. My brother chose Wall Street as the place for suit rentals for his wedding. The first visit was just fine, being only for measurements for the suit. Victor helped me on that day. Today, I called ahead to tell them I was on my way to pick up the suit and spoke with Dale, who was very nice on the phone, but said he wasn't going to be there. He did say that Victor would help me when I arrived. I called at 10 AM, told them I would be there in a half hour. I showed up at 10:25. Walking in, my father I and were greeted relatively quickly and I explained why we were there. A woman (didn't get her name) looked for my suit but couldn't find it, and went back to find Victor. He comes out, says "I'm busy," and continues helping another customer. So, we sat down and waited for about 10-15 minutes. Now, trying on a suit only takes 5 minutes, 10 tops. Finally, another man (again, didn't get his name) comes out and asks if we've been helped. "Not really," I replied. I told him we could come back when it was more convenient. I guess he sensed my displeasure and was nice enough to free up a fitting room for me to try on the suit. 10 minutes later, I was done. So, a 10 minute process ended up taking well over a half hour, for no really good reason, other than Victor was "busy." I think my review would have been better had I just been told what to expect for a wait. Simple customer service, in my opinion. Also, why did I even call in the first place to tell them I was coming? It obviously didn't help. Thankfully, I don't live I the area and won't have to deal with Wall Street any more, but if I have to, I'll insist on only dealing with Dale. read more

I took in a pair of slacks to have altered at the waist. The first round had buckled the top fabric beneath the waistband, which was clearly seen. and the owner could see it too, re-pinned them and said he would have them ready in a few days. When I went back to try them on again, the buckling still existed and he told me "that is not my problem"! Not being a tailor myself, I needed these slacks to be someone's problem so they could be nicely altered. $26.00 charge for nothing! I would not recommend him or return him for further business. read more

When you go to a place like this to have your clothes altered, you expect them to know what they are doing, do it correctly and help you find a happy medium of what you want, what they can do with what you have, and what will look the best (these places exist to give a custom fit to the owner, no?). I got none of that. And the attitude seemed like they'd rather be doing something else. I ended up with pants that fit worse than when i brought them in, plus an added grease stain. There goes what was a really nice pair of Theory dress pants down the tube. Thanks guys! read more

Having a convenient, expert tailor is like having a fabulous hairstylist; you will follow them anywhere. Having this person in your neighborhood is even better. Before I found Victor I used to travel to my old Seattle neighborhood and get my clothes altered by an older Italian woman, until I lost touch with her. I first went to Victor at my husband's suggestion, having taken my son's pants to someone else on MI and realizing that they came back with two different leg lengths (neither of which matched my son). So when I needed my favorite formal dress taken in, I went to Victor. He did an amazing job. He's Russian, very professional, and really knows his craft. One time I brought him something and he looked at me and said "this does not need to be altered at all" (and he was right - I'm not sure what I was thinking). Another time he did a quick same day alteration for me so that I could wear an old dress to a costume party. He takes time and attention with each customer, so you may need to wait a bit, but it's worth it. Especially for the on-island convenience and reasonable price. read more
