I can't imagine how this place received as many stars as it has. Our family of 9 DOES NOT recommend it. As if receiving food after everyone else (who arrived after you) wasn't bad enough, it was also cold. We were there for 2 hours... A group of 2-8 staff members could be seen standing around at any given time. I had to get up multiple times to ask for napkins. To sum up our overall first-time experience as disappointing is an understatement. My mom walked up to the manager at the end to provide feedback as a professional courtesy (from one manager to another) only to find the manager eating while on duty. The manager had nothing to say. We spent over $175. It was NOT well spent. With that amount of money, we will HANDS DOWN go to another place next time. We CANNOT (in good conscience) ever recommend this place to someone. We are visiting family while in town and based on the overall experience thought maybe the establishment had opened recently only to learn it's been open for over a year. First time here. Nice atmosohere, good music. Our server was very welcoming and explained the menu and specialties. Everything we ordered was hot, fresh and delicious. The chicken fried steak was nicely seasoned and fork tender. The panko giant onion rings were crispy and the buttered toast was made w fresh baked bread. The kids meal was more than enough for a 11yr old. The burger my husband ordered was juicy and well seasoned. He loved the curled fries. We couldn't be seated in the area we requested cuz "It's complicated"... ok we can look past that. Appetizer took a while but it was OK. Waited over an hour for our food even though we were there early so there was only maybe 4 other parties in the place at that point. Inquired about the order, server said she'd go check. She said there were only 3 ppl in the kitchen & " they took too many ppl in at once." Inquired a couple more times after we noticed parties who were there WAY after us got their order. This is a sit down restaurant different from the other Wallbangers on the Southside where you order your food and then come back and get it. Y. Our server was very friendly and courteous. So, I know a lot of people are disappointed in this location because it isn't exactly like the McAllen location. You don't have to stand in line to order your burger! That's a huge plus. Why waste time building a burger when you can sit and have a drink waiting for a waiter to take your order? Everything is brought to you from the comfort of your table. I don't get why people complain about this aspect.. Those complaints aside, I really enjoy this restaurant and I come here almost every time I visit the Valley. My grandparents swear by this burger shop, and I understand why. They have varying burger sizes from "mini" (which is still a healthy portion) to "manly". I always get a mini burger because I can never finish anything else. Their burgers are always cooked expertly and their appetizers are really tasty. Also, everything is so cheap! I can get a mini burger and fries for $5! Can't beat that. A mini burger and large side salad is $8. Excellent food for less than $10. What else could you want? The atmosphere is great too, very kitschy 50s diner. Lots of TVs for the men in your family who just want to watch sports during dinner. They have a full bar with house specialty cocktails. I think they have a partnership with Tito's Vodka because that seems to be their go-to liquor. Not complaining, but they do have other brands available if Tito's isn't your thing. First time I tried it food was great, but went the following day and the waitress/bartender named "Caro" out of no where asked in a not to friendly way why was I going to often if to make favors or if I was sampling. Till this day I don't understand why that would matter to her, but I still gave it a try yesterday (12-4-2022). I sat at the bar waiting to get my order taken for bout 10 minutes and the girls didn't bother at all to greet me or ask if I had my taken. They were just talking & flirting with some dudes. I spoke to the manager about it and she supposedly took my order, and took care of half of the bill for the inconvenience, but I think it was a bad idea cause once I got home with my order I noticed the fries weren't well cooked the bread was super dry, they didn't give me the veggies or salsa that comes with the burger it was just bad. So I guess if there's a problem there don't speak to the manager cuz they'll just mess your order up. I don't thing I'll be taking my service there ever again! When we arrived we noticed an empty booth that we sat in on one of our first dates and asked the host to sit us there. He told us that no one is allowed to sit at that booth but would not give us a reason. Later while we were eating he sat another couple there. We did not appreciate being lied to. Next we asked our server a question about a burger we were thinking of ordering. She gave us a confusing answer and it took several probing questions to finally get an answer. I told her that I did not want my burger cut in half and she repeated that back to us. Guess who brought the order out with the burger cut in half and knowing it was wrong. She did ask if it was ok with me. Since the other food was served at the same time I didn't want to eat at separate times but she never offered to make it right. I was visiting the rio grande valley and decided to give this place a try, Amazing food and service. I've been to this location twice and I must say it's always disappointing. The food is average at best and the service has been slow both times. Their uniforms do not match the decor, one of the waitresses is a big girl and she has her shirt tied up with her belly button staring at you each time she comes to your table. I found the menu to be overly sexist with burger size options listed as girly and manly instead of showing the actual size of the burger. On one of my visits I got a whole avocado half as a side and on my next visit I only got one quarter avocado. Seems like the kitchen doesn't even know their portions. The decor is pretty bad, think Gamehaus with Johnny Rockets throwing up inside of it. There's metal and mismatched wood inside with hints of 50's decor. Nothing works well together in this place! Excellent food and even better service! I have only been to this Wallbangers and not to the one on McColl and frontage but I was very impressed as soon as I walked in. The food was your typical American cuisine but their burgers tastes like the ones your dad made on a Sunday afternoon! They had 3 different sizes that could have been named better but it gave it that comical feel. The Mac and Cheesy burger is my favorite so far but I could be a little biased since that's the only one I've tasted (oh well). The Chicken strips however are not your ordinary McDonalds or Church's Chickens chicken strips. When you bite into it, you can tell that the strips are breaded differently and not over fried. The service was incredible! Granted, I did go there during times they weren't busy. The workers knew the difference between the burgers and were very consistent with serving us. Walked in while servers were having a pre-shift meeting (no big deal, I've worked in the service industry long enough to be understanding of this) waited 5 minutes for that meeting to end (still no greeting or acknowledgement from "bartender across the room") you would assume that customer service comes first, especially if the manager was present at this pre-shift but nope. Got my drink (and did enjoy it) but, naturally was too afraid to order food (have you seen the movie waiting...if not go watch it). While I was enjoying my drink, another customer had to walk up to the bar and ask for assistance (like I mentioned, I've worked in the customer service industry long enough, I know a red flag when I see one). Paid for the drink and requested a manager as I was walking out the door. I was told that the manager "was busy at the moment" so I then proceeded to ask for a manager business card (which I shouldn't have had to do to begin with) all while hostess's Bri and Dani once again rudely eyeballed me (it's been a long day girls I just wanted some drinks and food).
