I have been a loyal Walmart customer for over 30 years and have even traveled to Walmart HQ in AR. I have shopped Walmart Stores in NC, FL, upstate NY, PA, KS, MO, OR, and CA. This store since it has open has had difficulties staffing competent managers and employees. Like most companies there is always a diamond in the ruff but they cannot carry the store. This store has an issue with theft, keeping the shelves stock with simple things like; razor blades, half and half, Poland Springs water and so on. On one occasion they had fumigated the isle that had Oreo cookies. The overwhelming smell of pesticide was nauseating and they did nothing for 3 weeks after I complained about it. Ugh! Now the reason for this posting. I purchased 1 bottle of multiple vitamins that had a temper proof lid intact. When I got home to open the bottle, someone had taken a razor blade and cut around the plastic seal and the bottle's foil seal had been perforated and 75% of the pills were gone. I tried to return for an exchange and without a receipt the clerk said, no. So, this is on me for not keeping the receipt but is also on Walmart for either taking this bottle back on a return or not watching their security cameras close enough to see what is going on. Do to the lack of security, I no longer feel safe in this store and will not return and until they have an armed guard at the front door. read more

Well if only they can get a working money order matching I'd give it 5stars. I had to go out of my way on a rainy weekend to get a money order in Harrison NJ it was terrible then I had to go to yet another town on a rainy day to Lyndhurst NJ to deposit the money order in my landlords account for rent due. The only up side was I had to travel to NYC on business. But had Ridgedale NJ Walmart been more competent with 5 managers near costumer service and not one asked is everything alright? Or how may I help you? Instead they were just standing around talking drinking Starbucks. I'm like I'd love to have your job. No money order machine in working order lady said the part would arrive Tuesday? No concern to them or Walmart. My landlord wanted rent money today Friday not maybe Tuesday? Really? read more

Can you give less than a star? Not only is this the nastiest store in the area but now they stop you at the door to check your receipt? And the woman checking was so rude. I'd give negative stars if I could. This review is directed towards whoever makes the decisions at this store. The employees I dealt with did their best, given how their upper management have failed them. My boyfriend and I bought recently made a purchase of a the TLC 43" HDTV here... and granted we did simple research on brand/quality as we just needed something basic. for when we're outside by the pool we have something to watch the game on so we didn't need anything fancy. We saw a few places carried this but Walmart offered lowest price and immediate availability so we went here to get it. After walking up and down tv section for a bit we found it shuffled in the back of other TVs, on the bottom shelf. It was marked on sale for 160 something from original price of 200 hundred something. Opened it the next day, plugged it in and found it was was horribly cracked from one corner to the other. Not externally cracked where you can't tell until it's powered on. This was already a major disappointment and inconvenience as we now had to repackage and return this. CLEARLY, quality checks does not exist at this Walmart for this to have happened. We bring this back to the Customer service area and waited close to an hour before an employee was able to see us, only he was new and couldn't figure out the policy so he pages a tenured employee, who also couldn't help us so they then paved the assistant manager named Jennifer. Jennifer comes up and does not even acknowledges us and tells the other employee that the item is "cvp" or Whatever the hell they said that is not plain customer language but some b.s Walmart code for "you're getting ripped off!" Jennifer never comes back because clearly she can't be bothered. We tell them we don't know what code they're speaking but that they sold us a BROKEN tv and we want a refund. They repeat their cvp alien code to us and that we could not get refund but they would do an exchange. They bring up another tv and I said I would like this to be tested to ensure I'm not bringing back another broken tv. They said we would have to buy it first! I said why don't you process the refund for the broken tv you owe me then we can make the purchase for the other one. Once they got to processing the charge for the other tv, they tell us it's a different price, not "cvp" even though it's the exact same model and size we bought literally less than 24 hours ago. So basically Walmart marked down a broken tv to try and sell consumers. At this point we were DONE with Walmart and said what they were doing was illegal and would like a full refund. They finally process the refund after close to two hours of dealing with something Walmart clearly illegally doing. I BET anything this broken tv is back on the shelf for some other unknowing buyer. This was the first time I had been back at Walmart in 10 years and now I remember why. The cheap prices are not worth the morally crooked shenanigans they're doing here. read more

Worst Walmart management has no clue, employees could care less, especially at registers

Okay, it's Walmart, so I truly wasn't expecting much but this place is so crazy, it warrants it's own reality show. Let me start off by saying that I really never go to Walmart, but I found an item that had such a low price, I bought it on-line and had it sent to the store for pick-up (which they do for free). I arrived at the "Customer Service" department and was second on the line. It's ironic they decided to name this slice of the store, because it's the exact opposite of what you're about to experience. The single employee that seemed to know how to run the register was helping someone return a half dozen items that I'm pretty sure came from the Dollar Store a few doors away. They're chatting away, while the employee types into the register like a gate agent at Newark Airport when you ask for an upgrade. The line now grows to 13. Yes, THIRTEEN. Various zombies, I mean employees, wander in and out of the "CS" area looking like their tranquilizer just kicked in. When I ask for some help, they look at you like you're speaking a language from Game of Thrones and walk away! It's true, more than ten employees did this! Is Alan Funt going to jump out of the Dorito's display and I'm insanely relieved knowing I'm on Candid Camera? Sadly no, this is real. I finally ask one of the zombies if Walmart sells flares? She utters "I don't know" or "come back after my pill wears off" something like that and I tell her "Well, maybe if I shoot a flare into the ceiling, someone will notice me?" She offers no reaction, just sauntering off in search of blood or whatever zombies eat these days. I can't take it anymore, and ask "Why are we standing here like a bunch of meerkats?" to the crowd, and this very nice lady said "Oh, you're not a regular shopper, are you?" the whole line starts to laugh as I say "Why in the world are you?". After several more minutes of crowd banter and dismay, I finally lasso a zombie (between pills?) and she says "You're in the wrong department". You mean I wasn't supposed to be in the torture line, there's a better one somewhere??? She tells me to "do down there, and make a left" You know those directions lead me to a blue cinder block wall, right? I quickly determine that the between pill lady didn't know her right from left, but at this point, even I was beginning to understand that at Walmart, NOTHING is what it seems. Then I arrived at the "pick up" area....... It looked like a democratic fundraiser in Dallas.... EMPTY. Clearly the zombies here are a day older than the ones back there, which is not a good sign. There's a screen that asks you to "touch here for an associate". At first I was concerned that it was connected to the customer service area, but then I was quite relieved to learn it's connected to nothing at all. I wandered the stockroom and found the employee break room, a few people there told me to wait, someone would be coming (yeah, Santa perhaps?). The line grew to two and the other gentleman told me that he had done this before and that it was a bad experience then. Just when I'm starting to feel the onset of Parkinson's and a few other age-related illnesses a knight in a blue polyester smock arrives!! Somewhat stumbling through the process, but very eager to help (it must have been his first day), he finds my items after ten minutes or so. The receipt pops out from the register and he asks me to sign them (I had two items that were separate) but then says "we don't have a pen". Really? I've gotten this far and you're holding me hostage over a signature? I state the obvious and say "you know, you sell them, right?" to which he replies "yeah, but we're not allowed to just take them" to which I reply "like the items I just paid for, but can't take out of the store?". I ask what aisle the pens are in, but just as you may have predicted by now, he doesn't know. I take the the "pen" attached to the credit card machine and scratch my signature into he paper (the situation called for this level of resourcefulness, CLEARLY) I fled the store with items in hand and vowed never to return. I asked a friend of mine to kick me in the nuts if I ever mention going to Walmart again, and he graciously agreed. I feel pretty confident we will both hold up our ends of the bargain, so no more saving a buck but losing a of perfectly good chunk of life for me (not to mention, well you know what I mean guys.....) read more

Last night I caved and decided to buy an Xbox One console on my way home from work. The only Walmart that was near I287 south was this Cedar Knolls location. I walked in past a large group of employees who were all huddled around a register area sneering and laughing loudly, telling each other personal stories and headed towards the video game dept. When I got there, it was completely empty and no employee in sight. The video games are locked behind glass and you need an employee with a key to get it for you. So I walked back up front and asked a woman "Jackie" who was the assistant manager for some help. Instead of taking a key and getting me my product, She tells me to go to the customer svc line and ask for help there After waiting for the cashier to finish sharing yet another personal conversation with the customer in front of me I finally was able to ask for help, and they paged for assistance over the intercom, instructing me to go to the video game dept and wait for assistance..and wait I did. for about 10 min. Finally I got tired of waiting and walked back (again) to the assistant manager at the front of the store and asked to speak with a general manager. At this point the woman started getting very hostile and displayed a real attitude towards me. She kept telling me that someone is back there and basically making me out to be a liar. to which I replied that there was no employees back there. ( I had looked and walked around the whole dept, there was no one there) At this point I had been in the store about 25 min and still was unable to purchase the product I came in for, and I relayed this to the assistant manager "Jackie" to which she replied in a very sarcastic manner "well SIR maybe you should go to another store like a best buy or target and buy it there" I was speechless but still asked her why she was acting so hostile? at this point the manager says "you know what sir!?" and starts walking away from me in the middle of the conversation with no explanation whatsoever. I basically had to follow her and ask for help a 3rd time, this is when she tried to call the GM. Her attempts to locate the general manager went unanswered and I basically walked out of there shocked and flabbergasted after spending almost a half hour simply trying to purchase one item. On my way out a customer was walking by and told me that while I was standing there waiting, she had seen a female employee, standing (or hiding) in the far corner isle of the dept, facing a wall and muttering "im over here" over and over under her breath!! No wonder I didnt see or hear anyone! the employee that was supposed to help me was talking quietly and hiding on purpose!! You cant make this stuff up! I will NEVER in my life give a penny to this Walmart location, the employees are lazy, manner-less and animalistic in behavior as are the managers who offer no help whatsoever then give you an attitude for having the audacity to actually ask them to do their job and assist a customer. At no point in time did I raise my voice, or was disrespectful or rude in any way to this employee., I simply kept asking for assistance in buying a product and kept getting and attitude with NO HELP. The employees act like you are bothering them and cutting into their time, even though they are on the job and are supposed to help you. Seems like these employees have some sort of superiority complex at the store Do yourself a favor and avoid this location especially the night shift! read more

If I could give no stars I would! I placed an order yesterday on Cyber Monday, and got an email saying the order should be ready by 3:53PM SAME DAY. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited to call to find out where my order was. When I called around 5ish, they told me to call back in 30 minutes. Didn't call back until today, and they said the same thing, "call back later" I decided to cancel my online order and place it at the Walmart by me--and I know they are more reliable than these people. I'm not a Walmart person to begin with, and I just shopped there because the price of what I was getting was cheaper there than at Target. Never again am I shopping at this Walmart. Until they have better customer service, I refuse to go here. read more

Attempted to return a Jetson electric scooter we purchased for our child, who was injured riding it when the bottom bracket popped off. Clearly a poorly manufactured, unsafe item. They refused to let me return it, after waiting on line for 10 minutes, citing "out of policy". After the customer service cashier offered no explanation and tried to usher me away, Another employee advised that they didn't carry that item and I had to drive to the Walmart store where it was purchased, some 30 minutes away. Isn't Walmart a corporation... Bad customer service, bad attitudes. Won't go back to Walmart when there are other better options such as Target or Amazon. read more

Visited store yesterday traveling from Maryland I had the best experience with Yolanda employee in the dressing room. I'm new caring giving for my mom, I'm trying on clothes when my mom decided she couldn't try on anything because she had to go to the bathroom and Yolonda offered to take her to the ladies room and bring her back so I could continue to try on the clothes I had selected. This young lady's parents are doing a great job raising her to be aware and to care and support others I'm headed back to the store this morning to tell Management. read more

I despise this store, but it's the only place I can get certain things, like wiper blades that fit my jeep. The workers are clueless...even about the department they're working in. I needed a specific bicycle part, and the person in sporting goods had no idea what I was even talking about, never mind fully understanding English. Hey I'm normally Walmart fan. This Walmart is back in turn-of-the-century. First off the parking lot is way way small you got people trying to park on top of other people. Not like it's a surprise jersey foke are not the friendliest type. Don't have enough cards, and hear three or four different times in all parts of scattered all over the parking, the person that was collecting them walking slow as syrup chatting on a telephone. Now talking about inside dirty floors, staff looks like they rather stab you then talk to you/or shoot you whatever's quickest, the whole place looks in disarray. And it's sad to-I have stock in Walmart thinking very seriously of selling LOL just kidding. Grade D read more

Terrible. However, I don't blame the employees or merchandise. It's the kind of shoppers that go here. They're rude, lousy and low class.

Pretty nice smaller Wal-Mart, especially after adding 3 aisles of freezer/fridge food and expanding the non-refrigerated options. No produce or meats, but just about everything else a grocery store has. It is pretty well kept up, the staff is nice, it's open til 12 7days a week, and has a RedBox in the lobby. All in all, not too shabby. read more

Not bad... This particular Walmart seems to always be crowded so be wary in the parking lot because there are pedestrians everywhere. I'm a Target girl but once in a while, I'll come to Walmart (mostly to hit up a few of the other stores in this plaza). They have pretty much everything, except fresh produce, but I have seen them selling steaks in the fridge/freezer section. The aisles are well organized and the signage is clear and useful. The store is bigger than it seems so I get pretty tired after taking a few laps. The staff is pretty friendly but I've encountered some less knowledgeable employees that were incredibly unhelpful. read more

I went to Walmart on Ridgedale Ave, Cedar Knolls, today to stock up on groceries. Everything went very well, I got everything I wanted on my list and made my way to the checkout counter. While waiting in line, the associate said, anyone wants to buy a bag for a dollar? I just assumed that they were just trying to get people prepared for when we no longer have the option of getting the plastic bags. Boy, was I wrong. Without notifying the customers upon entering the store that they were no longer supplying plastic bags, they waited until checkout. Needless to say, none of the customers were prepared. I asked the associate why they did not post a sign outside letting everyone know that they were no longer supplying plastic bags and, she responded, they just told us. I told her they were a couple months early because the law does not go into effect until April. Thank God I had bags in my car because if not, my groceries would have been all over the place. Shame on Walmart for profiting off customers by pulling that stunt!! We're all trying to pinch our pennies and here goes Walmart activating a law before the deadline!!! Disappointed!!! read more

Wow where to begin I ordered something online for same day in store pick up three days ago. I was supposed to get an email when it was ready, but that never came. So I'm trying to call for 45 minutes to see if my order is ready. I call let it ring and ring then it disconnects. Again again again...really nobody can answer the phone. One person answed and disconnected me. PLEASE HIRE MORE COMPETENT HELP AROUND THE HOLIDAYS DO YOU NOT REALIZE YOU WILL BE BUSY AROUND THE HOLIDAY'S? No signs or policies were displayed or mentioned on holiday merchandise that it couldn't be returned. Manager refused to offer me the original price paid for with receipt. I hate yelp bc I think it's unfair to be able to Bash places that people work very hard at. HOWEVER, Walmart deserves one of these negative reviews. My friend and I were waiting online, only two regisers were open and the lines were insane. A cashier opened a new register and pulled 3 of us out of line to go to her. After the first customer she rang up she said she had to close.. We were like um noo you pulled us out of line and now we have to get back at the end of the line? She said give me one second and left. Never to return then we saw her at another register. There was a 10 deep person line and she just never came back. When we asked for the manager, they pointed to the lady that left us and said she's the manager. Well.. We left. Horrible customer service. Not worth the wait especially when there were staff all over the store standing around and joking with each other. I work in customer service and would never ever act in this way. read more

Typically, I'm just not a huge fan of Wal-Mart's in general but sometimes you've just to go here. The selection is absolutely massive and the prices are great. I try to avoid going here because it is absolutely impossible to be in and out of this place. No matter what time, there are never enough cash registers open and they don't do a great job of keeping the lines moving. I'm also not a huge fan of this particular Wal-Mart because the parking lot is a zoo. It's incredibly hectic and pretty tough to get in and out of. It's your pretty standard Wal-Mart but a little more hectic. read more

i'm used to a super walmart, this walmart is just ok. the bad thing is that this walmart shares space with other stores such as sears/ tjmax?/ a mini mall like with radio shack and a mini food court and a food town. you know what that means? yup horrible parking cuz this is new jersey and these ppl are crazy. one thing i noticed, you'll find more parking towards the sears/walmart side than you would if you went more towards the food court/minimall/foodtown side, probably more ppl shopping for groceries is why. like all walmarts DO NOT get anymore than 10 or 20 items max, this way at least you can either self checkout or goto the speedy lines, otherwise you'll spend eternity there to checkout cuz that's how walmart makes money... they make you wait in line so you buy the overpriced checkout aisle stuff. you ppl do know that right? the checkout aisle stuff is like 400% marked up and about the only way to make real money, that's why they NEVER have enough cashiers. read more

You would think that if you order an item online, paid for it, and it was going to be ready to be picked up that day, that it should be a quick easy process.... DONT believe it. I had a 30 min fight with 4 employees because I went to pick the item up 10 hours after it was ordered and paid for, yet I did not get an email that said it was ready to pick up.... Went here on a Saturday. Made to take back a lampshade because it didn't fit. I thought they were refunding my card. WRONG They charged me. Didn't notice until I got home. Tried to call. They thought I was playing on the phone and kept hanging up on me because I have a speech impediment. When I finally got through I was told to call tomorrow. When I called I was told to call the office Monday. Ruined my week. read more

Easily one of the worst Walmarts I have been in. The store itself is much smaller than competitive Walmarts across the state. This said, there is definitely less products to choose from. Nothing is updated to uphold the Walmart name to the extent that I feel dirty walking into this store. Unfortunately, it is the only one that is in a reasonable distance. Suprisingly, this low quality of Walmart exists in such a higher populated location. Lines at registers are still too long. Had to wait 10 minutes, with only 2 people in front of me, in order to return one item. Employees do not care about customers and take their time doing who knows what, while customers are still waiting to check out. Its time to upgrade this Walmart, or better yet, maybe a Target will move in the area. read more

Worst Walmart on the third rock from the sun!!! Nasty, rude, obnoxious employees = 90% of the employees in this store. Quality of merchandise reminds you of a swap meet. Great that you have a flexible return policy but not really fair to customers that think they are paying for new merchandise only to go home and find that it is used and/or missing parts! Always have to wait 20-30 minutes online regardless of how few items you may have and as you are waiting you can't help noticing employees that are congregated and laughing instead of jumping on a register and getting people out in a timely fashion. The only positive thing I can say about this Walmart is that is has provided jobs for individuals that are too unprofessional, lazy, and incompetent to hold any other job anywhere! Kudos! Never going back. My time is worth more than the few dollars of savings you are supposedly providing. read more
