The produce selection here is great and so are the prices. The only thing I do not like is how dumpy the place is.

Morristown Farmers Market

Morristown Farmers Market

This is the third farmer's market I've reviewed, and probably the last one I need to review,…read morebecause this is the best of the three. Every year we look forward to the local farmer's markets opening in the spring and the one in Morristown is usually great. I'm always a big proponent of supporting your locals so I try to put my money where my mouth is and buy what I can here (and the other local farmers' markets). It's a little more expensive than what you pay in the supermarkets, but for a lot of the produce you can taste the difference. Jersey corn and Jersey tomatoes are the best in the country (yeah, I said that Iowa, Nebraska, California and Florida). The pickle guy makes some of the best I've ever tried...huge fan of the hot and spicy ones. The cheese stand is pretty good, but a lot of it is made from goat or sheep milk-not my favorite, but pretty damn good. Also a huge fan of the bread stand, the fresh honey, and the fish monger. Just sitting here writing this makes me long for warmer weather and fresh produce! This market is very dog friendly (if you're interested in bringing your pup), but one negative is the parking and getting in and out...it can get a little tight. Really looking for the first weekend they're open in June.

The Morristown Farmers' Market is held every Sunday from June thru November. The market has an…read moreabundance of produce vendors (usually six), plus stands offering breads and pastry, cheeses, frozen meats and sausages, raw fish and local honey. The first Sunday of the month there is extra good stuff, usually a musician plus additional farmers. This market is organized by the Morristown Partnership. I was pleased to learn that the Partnership requires all vendors to sell only products made in New Jersey. Try the fresh farm eggs from Michisk's Farm of Flemington! I love the braided sesame twist from Baker's Bounty of Linden. The fresh flounder from the fish people of Long Beach Island is a little expensive at about $18/lb but very good. Occasionally I'll get olives from Pickle-Licious to make putanesca sauce with tomatoes from Michisk's. Alstede's market stand has the largest variety of produce, including herbs, peppers, onions, apples, peaches, corn, melon and so on. Alstede might be the only stand that accepts credit cards. My wife likes to get sunflowers from the flower stand. One large produce stand is completely organic. Once in a while I'll get a kielbasy from the Polish food people. The cheese people have interesting stuff but it's annoyingly spendy at about $25/lb. This market has relatively few prepared foods other than pastries and breads; there's no deli food and no coffee place, just huge piles of fresh, local produce ready to be turned into great meals. I like to go early, they open promptly at 8:30.

Excellent Whole Foods…read more 1) The hot food section is great. They have ethnic options from Chinese to Indian and regular Americans items as well. I only wish they had a weight next to the hot food section to check how much food consumers got before we go to the check out. 2) They have an Amazon return section as well. Making Amazon returns very convenient. 3) I also enjoy the sugar free chocolate options they carry.

When they ring us up, they have always defaulted to organic, even when it's not organic. One employee stated he didn't even know that they carried non-organic items. Also, today, they charged us for large avocados, even though they were puny. We had to go back. Then they messed up the refund, and didn't give us the Prime discount. So they had to ring it again. The deli had a young man working there that used to be the only one who would follow our instructions on how we wanted our deli meat. Now, we get people who shave the meat a bit and then proceed to do whatever they want, even when it's not busy. During the period of COVID where masks were mandated. I witnessed multiple employees stocking shelves with their masks worn as gags. The meat department people are fantastic. They always do a great job. They answer questions and let you choose whatever piece you want. I want to suggest making the meat Manager the store manager. I'm giving this 2 stars because the meat department deserves 5 stars for service. And also because my parents didn't have grocery stores like this in their country, so I suppose I should be grateful. But my heart still tells me ZERO stars when it comes time to think about them ringing up my items.

One of my bags was accidentally left out of my order, and instead of me having to chase it down, they called me the very next day to let me know and issued a refund right away. I've used ShopRite Online for years, but my 5/30/26 pickup changed that. The Shady Brook Farms…read moreturkey sausage I received was swollen, tight, full of condensation, and had tiny bubbles between the sausages. This is a serious food‑safety concern. When I went inside to compare, the same product (same dates) looked completely different -- cold, tight packaging, no swelling. Even customer service said mine "looked like it was going to pop." This isn't the first issue. I previously received a moldy onion in an online order, and my son has mentioned that cold items often didn't feel cold during past pickups. Now I've seen it myself. I exchanged the item, but I shouldn't have had to make a second trip. From now on, I'll only use ShopRite Online for non‑perishables and buy all meats and produce in person. The photos I'm posting tell the story. Many customers may have had good experiences with ShopRite Online, but this is my personal experience, and it was unacceptable. UPDATE FROM SHOPRITE 6/4/26 Customer Care responded quickly to my concern about the Shady Brook Farms turkey sausage. They apologized, shared my feedback with store leadership, and added a $6 credit to my loyalty account. I appreciate the prompt resolution.

This place has everything Italian your heart desires and more. They have an amazing long display of homemade prepared foods. It's the biggest one I've ever seen for an Italian market in NJ. You can find chicken cutlets, broccoli rabe, arancini, carbonara cappellini, potato and cheese croquettes, cakes, fruiti de mare salad, several types of seafood salads, crab cakes, eggplant parm, sicilian eggplant, jumbo fried shrimp, specialty burgers and sliders, several types of prepared salmon, grilled and roasted vegetables, an antipasto bar, an entire cheese department with imported and homemade cheeses, such as homemade mozzarella, bocconcini, basket cheese aka"formaggio da pasta filata" ( yes and not just at the holidays) and homemade ricotta. They have tons and tons of all different types of olives. Uncle Giuseppe's sells Italian and imported specialty products. They have a fresh meat department, a fresh fish department, a full deli, fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh pastas, a variety of homemade ravioli's, a coffee bar with assorted expresso beans, and other flavored beans you can grind. A variety of Imported canned tomatoes and products from Italy. Homemade peanut butter you grind on the spot fresh with no additives. They have a nice selection of imported olive oils and vinegars. There's a hot takeout bar with meatballs, different kinds of pasta, chicken and vegetables. They even have a section where they make a variety of homemade pizzas. For dessert they have a bakery department that sells all types of Italian cookies, cakes, breads, pastries you name it they have it. As I walked around there were employees giving out samples of a variety of foods. Everything I tried was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. This store has everything neatly displayed and very clean. I spent 2 hours here. I bought their brand of homemade imported extra virgin olive oil, antipasto, cheese & spinach ravioli's,bread, dried farro, vegetables, and cheeses. This store is a bit pricey but the quality and variety are simply amazing! There is a large free parking lot. You can grab a shopping cart, and near the entrance there are a few handicapped spots. I will definitely be back it's worth the trip. We drove an hour
