I give two stars only for the efforts of the employees who are basically slaves to the corporation itself. Sure they provide a job and benefits and that same old line people like to lump on them but its damn near slave wages. I blame the corporate offices for the customer service at Wal Mart. Don't ever use their photo center! I spent 3 days scanning, editing and creating a photo book for my mother. With pictures she thought she had lost from her childhood. These pictures are 50+ years old. Among the pictures was a professional of her Father in the military (70 years) and a few of her in elementary school (close to 50/45 years ago). I was not greeted. I was no smiled at. But I did not take offense, I was too excited to get the photo book. After 10 minutes they finally find my order. He doesn't let me look at it, he give me serious attitude and tells me I need a copyright for the professional photos. He will not hand over my order that I've paid for until I find the photographers from 70 years ago, and 50 years ago and have them sign off on photos taken that long ago. I then ask for a refund, and that prompts him calling the manager. She then gives me even more attitude, treats me like I've done something extremely terrible. She would not give me a refund, I was told I must go onto the website to get my refund. Beings that I'm 4 1/2 months pregnant, and got myself up and to the store at 7:30 a.m excited to see the finished project . I left in tears, depleted and completely exhausted. I was actually told by the manager that she was just "doing her job". I'm sorry but I've worked in customer service for over 10 years, and making a customer feel the way I did today is "failing your job". They've lost my business, not that it'll make a dent in their gigantic corporation. I'll gladly pay double for any photo items instead of ever deal with those two incredibly rude employees ever again. By the way. I went to walgreens, got an 8x11 photobook instead of 5x7 for only $4.00 more and the quality is outstanding compared to Walmart's. I'm writing for the auto center. HORRIBLE!!! I waited forever for an oil change and the people around me who were waiting for their cars had been waiting forever too. You should not have to wait 1.5-2 hours for a simple oil change or battery change...ever! The men working seemed to be standing around chatting and drinking water then going over and filling the water up again. It's hot out, I get it but they were all taking breaks at the same time when cars were just sitting there. I had no apologies from staff and nobody warned me it would take so long. The worst part is, I could have gone somewhere faster and paid around the same price. read more

As people have stated, it's Walmart, which means good prices and sometimes very interesting customers if you know what I mean. I come here about once every two months, usually to shop for clothing or if I see a good deal on any electronics. Does that make me a regular customer? I don't think so, probably a semi-regular customer. I haven't had any major problems buying or returning items here and I'm usually always in and out of here without a problem. One thing that it a little annoying is that lines tend to get pretty long at times and it doesn't help when the cashier is ringing people up so slowly. This always happens on the weekends when the store is booming with customers who wait until the weekend to do their shopping. As others have already stated, your best time is early morning. The store is practically empty and you'll enjoy peace and quiet while looking around or doing grocery shopping. Another thing to note is their Subway inside. Don't bother going there if there are more than 3 people ahead of you. They make the sandwiches at a rate that is so slow, it could drive you insane. Pick up the pace people! All in all, a good location, but please do things a little more quickly. read more

Your usual walmart, prices are good and there is a variety. Later in the day they dont't have many registers open which sort of will put people in a jam. At night many aisles are blocked off so its like a maze at times, amd thats why they lost a star. read more

I went to Tijuana years ago with my brother and remember the street merchants, crowds of people with questionable character, and it being kind of dirty. If you want to relive TJ but don't have the money to travel- this place is for you. Dirty, crowded parking lot. A permanently erected tent of broken, clearance merchandise in front of the store-- that swallows up the closest parking spaces. Long, never moving customer service lines. If they didn't have a pharmacy, I would never come here again. read more

Some of the employees are really nice, others are like zombies. I have asked for assistance and had people go above and beyond, and others just stare at me with their mouth open. If you do not know then how about you find someone who does? That being said I feel sorry for the employees because most of the people that shop there are a story all their own. Yesterday I saw one employee be so rude to another. She obviously was above him and she wanted him to stay in a certain spot and not leave his station. He had walked down an aisle to help someone. She was really mean and obviously needs some training on how to handle herself. She was so loud and could be heard aisles over. I actually thought it was a mother talking to her kid at first. The time before that I was buying bins for my kids room and the person that checks your receipt accused me of not paying for a bin. She actually called up management who in fact showed her I had paid for one too many . The lady even argued with the manager to the point she basically had to just tell her to stop talking. I could see having your receipt checked for some big item and you possibly did not go through a check out. But seriously I feel like everyone is assumed a criminal. It is a Wal Mart. The store is decently clean and you can usually find what you need. If you go here on the weekend it is usually very full and hard to manuver around the store. The store is not very handicap friendly because the isles are so thin that it is hard for someone in a wheelchair to go around the carts. You might have to wait in line depending on the time that you go during the day and make sure that you avoid the check out lines in the garden section. They usually only have two employees trying to handle a spot with 4 registers. read more

This review is for their automotive department. I came to them with a flat tire and right away the serviceman told me I had the wrong tires for my car, which were put on by a different Wal-Mart. He was able to have a new set ordered and replaced for no charge other than the tread difference, which was awesome considering this has all been taken care of within a few days before thanksgiving. read more

Used to love Walmart until I came here. My boyfriend came with me because I wanted to grab some hair product. I saw that there was one mousse left without a cap and it seemed to have been used so my boyfriend sees an older lady putting stuff on the shelf behind us and asks if there was anymore of the mousse because that one doesn't have a cap. She grabs the product and says no but this is still useable. And I was like hm no it's okay thank you though I'll come tomorrow so I walked off to another aisle. My boyfriend then comes behind me and said did you hear what she said? And I said what? And he said that after I left he heard the old lady murmured "she doesn't want to buy it because the cap is missing (scoffs)" okay first of all, excuse you grumpy old lady, I was being polite and nice and if you were to find a product used without its cap would you still buy it?! NO. If your food came without some type of packaging would you buy it?! Exactly. I have never been so mad because I was so nice to this lady who seemed to have her panties in a bunch because it's past her bedtime. read more

I am giving 5 stars to Jose. S in the tire and lube department. I went to Yuba city tire and lube to have my oil changed and they did not put my oil cap on properly. Oil leaked all over my heating shield which made my oil low... I commute everyday 100 miles and was concerned about the smell coming out of my vent. Jose was quick to refill my oil and clean off the excess oil on my engine. Thank you so much Jose. S for your awesome customer service as well! read more

I have never EVER felt so insulted. Walmart used to be my fav place to shop for plus size clothing because Walmart is one of the only stores to do 4X and considering clothing stores are closed I had a lot of faith in Walmart to have shorts my size, this however is not the case. My first issue is I ride a cart because I have a genetic pinched nerve in my spine, so I ride one of the electric carts, the clothing aisles are really tight which makes it really hard to look through. Then I was confused to see the area that said plus size but it only went to 18/20 which is an extra large. This was frustrating so I asked a worker, "im sorry to bother but I'm confused by your plus size section. Can you direct me to where I can find plus size shorts" the lady who helped me was very sweet and when she directed me to the very small wall that she as the plus size section it was very minimal. I was frustrated trying to search for shorts and because of the lack of product, I felt very VERY insecure about my body type. Walmart is becoming less and less diverse every time I go in there, it's disheartening and I had to go to target and guess what, IT HAD A BIGGER SECTION FOR THE PLUS SIZE COMMUNITY THAN WALMART! to me this is VERY unfortunate considering Walmart used to be known for plus size clothes and target was not! Today I went to Walmart to get some supplies for a remodel. Part of that remodel required killz paint. I had bought some from lowes and it was $2 more. So I picked up a can at walmart. I get the the checkout. The lady asks for my ID... I ask if she is going to look or swipe it. I told her She may not have my ID to swipe. Swiping my ID puts my personal information in their databases and I have built these systems and know how they work and there is no reason she needs my home address if I am paying cash. I have the right to pay for things with out having my data tracked and I can pay with cash in this country. She kept telling me it is the law. I informed her I bought this product from lowes 30 mins ago and they did not card me. She told me that is because she can't tell younger people's age. She can't tell if a person's age from 15-40... I then asked her if she asks for everyone's ID she said no.... She refused to look at my ID and not swipe it... I called over a manager and informed him of what is going on and asked him how old I Look. He refused to say anything and just kept asking me "Did she ask for ID"... He tried to brow beat me into caving. I then told him "Fine I do not agree with your policies and not allowing people to buy things based off profiling done by a cashier. I will buy the rest of my items with cash." He then refused to allow me to buy anything with cash unless I showed him my ID. I told him I would not show my ID for items that do not need me to be 18. It is not right to profile people and I lost my temper and left. The sad part was I wanted to buy a box of jerky for the troops drive that was outside. My mother and father both served and so did my girlfriend. So I really like to support the troops and I was not allowed to because of a manager's over reach of power. read more

This is the worst Walmart for customer service. I went in to check this Walmart out while I was in Chico for a few days. I went around 7:00 a.m. There were a couple of purses I wanted to get that were locked up with a cable. I found an employee around the self check out so I asked her if I could get some purses unlocked. She called someone and nobody ever showed up. After waiting a few minutes with nobody showing up to assist me, I went back to the lady at the self check out. The excuse was because the person that can unlock them come in at 8:00 a.m. I think it's nonsense that NOBODY can get a key to unlock them. So I told her that they go and lock stuff, but then you can't open it. I told her that they should want to sell stuff. I told them their service is really sucky! I will never go back there. They had the attitude that they didn't care. I went to the one in Red Bluff and I was able to get much better customer service...I also got one of the items I wanted that was price reduced for some reason. read more

OK - I go to Walmart ... I admit it ... when I lived in the South it was a great place, with American-made products ... I was happy to see Walmart come to CA ... nowadays it's hard to find anything there made in the US ... aside from that - and the empty shelves, not being able to find many items for which I came - Walmart managers don't use some common sense ... I needed some Brita water filters ... they are available three to a box, for $14.88 ... there was only one box, opened, and one of the filter wrappers was opened ... I brought it to a manager and offered him $10 for it, as two were unopened and good, and that was a good pro-rated offer ... I was surprised when he said he wasn't allowed to discount anything (other Walmart stores have, even price matching) ... he said he could return it and get another pack and make the full profit from the sale ... now, I have a business degree and to me taking the offer without the hassle of the return bullshit would have been a better business decision, especially since Walmart makes over $36 million in sales EVERY HOUR of EVERY DAY, and a PROFIT of $36,000 EVERY MINUTE ... sure, I'll continue to shop there but the level of management competency is seriously lacking ... and - I bought the three unit Brita at Lowes just down the street for $13.89 so I came out ahead even by Walmart standards ... While in walmart looking for fabric today, I was told i could not have the free quilting flyers unless i purchased the fabric there. I didnt find the material i was looking for. I shop at my wal mart in Red Bluff as well as willows and redding store all the time and had a very good experiance. I have not been treated so rude as i was today. Wal-Mart supports thieves. The folks who stole my credit and debit cards were able to use my card that actually has my picture on it. This was after two other cards declined as they had already been stopped. And when you call them, they don't care. I suppose you can't expect much from your cashiers, but common sense should be a job requirement. read more

Most times these days superstores lack staffing to provide any type of assistance if you need it. And when there is someone to help they typically couldn't care less about providing any type of customer service to you. This is not the case with the Walmart in Chico. I visit this location regularly and always leave with an overwhelming sense of people caring about other people and a team working there is unlike no other. Associates can be found in every department. They are ALL warm and friendly and are available to help you if needed. I would like to give a special acknowledgment to Liz who works in the fine jewelry area. When we were wanting to buy a handbag we were surprised they were all locked to the fixtures. Liz had a line and was busy so we came back. When we did she carried on a genuine conversation with my mother and I and offered to ring us out even though we had more than ten items. She asked for our names and invited us back to visit her next time we were shopping. Personalized service doesn't come often anymore. It's so refreshing to shop in a store where everyone seems like they are happy to be there and that they actually care about you as a person. OUCH 6 HOURS for tires when i was told 2.5 hours.The things we do to save money. Best price in town for the tires i was looking for and only 15 dollars to mount and balance saved me about 200 dollars total compared to Les Schwab and Big O Tires. Took 3 hours to finally put my truck up on the lift and then another 3 hours to finish. they couldn't balance these tires all the while i was sitting in there waiting area . read more

Well, it's WalMart and I know that going in. I know their how they pay their employees, I know that "customer service" is very hit or miss, and I know the quality of their goods. Their return policy is great. Their cashiers are usually friendly and quick. They have moved products and aisles and dropped a lot of hardware items that I used to buy. Auto parts are pretty good--many name brand American items at low prices. I have been told a few times that I can't be in the store barefoot. I go everywhere barefoot--it's good for my body, my feet and my posture. It is not "against the law" or "health department regulations" nor is it even "against store policy" as noted by a letter from the company's headquarters. I even politely asked one greeter why I was not allowed to enter barefoot, and he said "It's for health reasons." I asked (politely) what reasons; he said "Bacteria, you know." I asked, "Bacteria from the store infecting me, or bacteria from me infecting the store?" He replied, "Ummm, I don't know...just bacteria...you know." I always get a chuckle when I remember that :). read more
