This is a toughie. Growing up in the San Francisco my whole life, I was used to the hustle and bustle of the city life. Moved to Elk Grove for a couple of months and I wanted to shoot myself due to boredom. I have to admit that this Walmart was one of the only reasons why I didn't go insane. Walmart was like my "Wilson" (Cast Away)... Anyway, I know all the locals hate the crap out of this Walmart but I swear its like a Neiman Marcus if you compare it to the one in Union City in the Bay Area . Ok I may be exaggerating a tad bit but I swear this one is not as ghetto. No matter which walmart you go, there will be bad service... It's inevitable. It's like they aim to be the most crappiest customer service providers. But I wouldn't blame them because the employees get paid crap and they don't even get health insurance. Dear Wal-Mart Last night we were doing some late evening shopping, and the dam lights went out which led to CHAOS! The workers were upset because this was not the 1st time this month, the supervisors starting advising the workers to check all bags that are leaving the store, the customers started looking like they were up to no good, the parking lot (also had no lights) turned into some kind of after the concert/parking lot pimping event. So clearly this was unsafe. I am very grateful I had just hit approve on my payment and my receipt printed. Ugh. Where do i start! Cashier Katherine needs to improve her customer service. I am an avid couponer. I have no issues with other Wal-Mart's using multiple coupons or doing multiple transactions. ( i have a big family) But this lady decides to give me an attitude suddenly when i start pulling out coupons from my wallet. She starts questioning me, rolling her eyes and tells me i can't use the coupon on merchandise that isnt pictured on the coupon, i am taking all of the sales items, i am exceeding my coupon limits etc etc. I've asked her to do separate transactions if that wasn't an issue, instead she tells me "so do you want it or not?" Umm... My response "I would like my coupons back please, rather go to the Wal-Mart on Gerber rd." Gerber Wal-Mart has better selection of clearance and i never have an issue using coupons. No question asked What i was planning to buy: 3 bottles of kids suave and 3 bottles of garnier fructis shampoo. She had to make such a big deal over shampoo and coupons. read more

This store has been here for quite a while and it shows it's age. I sure could use a face lift. I much prefer to stop at the adjacent Walmart Neighborhood Market. For some reason it seems there are a few items only in the big box so inevitably I stray across the parking lot to make a tactical extraction of any missing items. I's not so bad when it's not crowded. Hit this place on the wrong time of the month and it can be a complete disaster. There have been times when I walk in and immediately walk right back out. I stopped in because of convenience and I didn't want to have to drive across town to go to another big name store. I used to love coming here when I was younger, before they built the one on Florin Rd. I personally enjoyed coming late around midnight when there weren't many people shopping. Now, it's a different story. I've gone back since then and it feels very different. Oh yeah! About a year and a half ago, I went with my boyfriend, the cashier lady was an older Hindu lady. Well yes, we all despise the over sized corporate monster, but when it comes down to it..this place is unavoidable. 3 Reasons it rocks: 1. Well damn its Elk grove. At 2am, there is crap to do. And why not go to this chaotic Wal Mart to bounce some balls, ride a tricycle, dig through the 80,0000 $5 dvds in an unorganized "basket", make elmo laugh a 100 times, and have a floaty noodle fight. 2. I gotta admit, some of their stuff is priced cheap. Food, toys, dvds, cards, optometry & photo department, beta fish..... 3. A bag of chips & beef jerky purchased with a $5 Spaceballs movie at 2am=score!! 3 Reasons it blows: 1. Unorganized. 2. Crowded: both in the store and the parking lot. 3. Walmart is Walmart... haha. Walmart is great for many things. They have thing where they can beat prices of items you see at another store, always a plus to save a few cents/bucks... They already have good deals. I love buying movies here. $5 dvds , non blu ray just regular dvds. They offer some realltGood choices! Look through the piles! I come here to buy socks all the time, and the bf get his undershirts and socks here. Sometimes, they offer some really cute pj's! Sweats here are cheap! They always have deals for em! If you coupon, this is a wonderful place to do so... Ive seen this lady couponing and she seemed very pleased at check out. I got some cheap water shoes here, and they work pretty well, better than expected. Snacks and drinks here are cheap, stock up!! Okay and sometime The shelves here aren't always stock, mainly over the bath and body department... If they have shampoo they are out of conditioner, and that bothers me a lot becAuse i have to make another stop. What's up with long lines, and I mean really long lines and only 2 reg open? They have so many staffs, put them to work! The pets department is also rarely stocked, I wish that would change. I still choose to visit this walmart over the one on Florin. read more

Wish I could give this place 5 stars but this ONE particular employee ruined it all for me. There were 2 others that stood out to me the most (in a good way) out of my entire experience going to this Walmart. I live no more than 10 minutes away from this location so this is the one I regularly go to (about once a week) Every time I come here past 10 or so, there's always this guy that greets me every time I come in (through the exit, bc the entrance is closed off after 10) and he's always very friendly. Whenever I head out, he checks my receipt and has a smile on his face and tells me to have a great night. I appreciate that a lot because you don't get that at most walmarts! Now..... Every time I'm in the electronics section or pass by it, there's always this older Caucasian man I believe his name is Scott. Normally, he's usually pretty helpful. But last night, it was my boyfriend and I that came in because he wanted to return something and asked Scott if they do returns here and he said "no, we don't do returns past 10." and my boyfriend is curious so he casually asks "and why is that?" So Scott (with a smart attitude) says "because that's how it is"..... And then my boyfriend asks "well I understand that, but is there a specific reason for it?" Then Scott proceeds to have a smart attitude and says "because it's late and its past 10." Like I guess? So much for customer service. So we just walk away and start heading towards the registers to get rung up for our groceries and such. Then, this guy named Robert I believe, is an older (50s or 60s) Caucasian man, was very friendly asking how our night is going etc etc. and my boyfriend then asks him why Walmart doesn't do returns/exchanges past 10, just to see how Robert reacts to the question. Then Robert proceeds to tell him very informatively why, for example (it's later at night so it attracts more people that'll be frauds and with the time, it keeps it more organized, etc etc). Which is the EXACT answer we were looking for compared to Scott who was completely and utterly rude and killed my mood. Overall, Robert gave me excellent customer service and I wish him the best! But because of Robert and the guy at the exit door, my mood was a lot better that I HAD to go out of my way to write this really long review, hoping they would see this! read more

This place is usually where I default to when I pick up a few things as it's on my way home and it's open 24 hours. They generally have everything you need, but they may not carry everything that other locations may have. They do carry ammunition, for those of you who own firearms, and you'll be hard pressed to find better prices for target rounds. My big gripe with this place is that there are areas that are consistently low/out of stock. They don't have empty spaces, someone simply just fills up the spaces with other items and the original item is rarely restocked. I've found this problem in the flashlight section of sporting goods and in the battery section of electronics. You also won't find much for customer service here, but I've found that to be common among all Walmarts. read more

What is there to write about Walmart?? This store has everything you need at reasonable prices. However, Customer service is something you wont find at Walmart. We like to go to Walmart late at night because we don't like crowds. There always long lines because lack of cashiers. There are always tons and tons of people on the sales floor filling up the shelves. They just don't care even when the lines are wrapped around the registers. Careful when getting back your change after your transaction. One cashier shorted my BF and argues he did not make an error. The supervisor comes over and says theres nothing they can do or try to offer counting the money. Pretty much accusing my BF of not knowing what he gave the Cashier. Definitely one of the better and less trashy Walmart's I've been to (oxymoron??). Came here the other day to pick up some gun cleaning stuff (which was surprisingly cheaper here than on Amazon) and I also noticed that they didn't sell as much ammo as they used to. Maybe it's the shortage or whatever. Anyways, things are organized more differently than I remembered, but at the end of the day, it's still a Walmart. If you live anywhere South of Florin Rd, I'd suggest coming to this Walmart instead of the Super Walmart on Florin, unless if you live like right there. The only reason why I like Walmart is their cheap prices but who else doesn't? Lol Their items are pretty cluttered and disorganized. Hence, a good for customers because the items are in the wrong spot which means you can get it for a cheaper price if the tag underneath is lower. It's pretty hard to find items at times. The employees aren't aware of product knowledge quite often. Some employees are rude, some are nice. Well since the new Walmart opened up down the street, this location has been a bit emptier than usual which is kinda nice. It used to be way packed before. Walmart ! One star for opening 24 hours! It's one of those places that my family and I can walk around after dinner. I'm not too familiar with any other places that opens late. They have a minimal selection on clothing.Also returns are very simple. The staffs are nice too. They have a lot of snacks, and hygienic items. Also, everything is cheap. It's not a bad place to take a stroll around; they have miscellaneous items that might just be what you were not looking for but after seeing it, want it. They also have a McDonald's located inside. The plaza doesn't have much, besides Fuji Sushi, gas station, hair salon, bank, goodwill. Gottchalk is closed, and the place isn't turning into anything at the moment. read more

I love this WalMart! I live between this location and the Florin Rd. super center location, and I choose this smaller location. The location is close to the freeway exit and has plenty of parking. The area is nice with a middle-class customer base which makes for a pleasant experience. The store is always clean, and most the staff are usually pleasant and helpful. The shelves are always stocked with what you need, and the new remodel job looks great. No other store beats WalMart prices!!! read more

It's Walmart, so I don't expect good customer service, organization or cleanliness. With my recent visit I noticed they stopped carrying ammunition for rifles or pistols. All they had displayed were shotgun shells. Curious to see what transpired, I asked an employee walking by. Without slowing down or looking at me, she just grunted "You no see, we no got!" Though I was not offended because I knew where I was shopping. Kimberly answering the phone is totally worthless. Put my husband on hold 3 separate times. All calls were on speaker so I heard everything. First 2 didn't even produce a ring tone. We told her that we wanted to see if a product was available and we had the Walmart sku number ready. She kept TRYING to transfer us to the home department, but obviously didn't know how. Is there no way to look an item up in the system to check availability?!?! On the 3rd call husband told her to stop it and let him speak to someone. 3rd time at least produced a ring tone, but again 5 minutes later no answer. Just gave up trying to purchase from them. This is the worst Walmart! The Cashier is so damn slow that the other line moved way faster. We were at the last check stand and next thing you know the Cashier is not even there! What a joke! Oh the humanity! You lose a bit of your proverbial soul when you enter a Walmart. This site is no exception. This location is dirty and everything moves at a slow pace. In an Orwellian move, the employees are forced to wear on their vest, "Proud Walmart Associate," even though, this job represents the bottom of the retail industry. This reminds me that Walmart used to sell as an "inspirational" poster the same slogan that hung at the Dachau Nazi Death Camp, "Work Makes You Free." You can see the despair in the employees' faces. It is just depressing to walk into any of these stores. Sure the prices are cheap, but this comes at a tremendous cost to society. This massive corporation can twist the arms of every major business in their drive to bring down prices. This results in lower wages and harsher working conditions than should exist. read more

It's a Wal-Mart. The prices are great for the selection, and the quality is there if you look for it. Just be prepared for crowds and lines. The electronics section has little help. Don't expect to get questions answered. In fact, unless you run into one of the floating "greeters", you'll be lucky to get staff to help you at all.
