Let me tell you the ways I love you, Wal-mart. NONE. After roaming around aimlessly looking for a product, I finally asked for help in the toy aisle from one of the associates. The guy said, "We don't have anybody to help you in the toy section. It's too much stress on the job." I'm not even sure what this means. -- But I was livid afterwards. Anyway, finally someone came to my rescue only to tell me that they no longer carry that product or its out of stock, but they couldn't tell me which. I won't lie. When I first happened to come across this place a few months ago I wasn't a huge fan but today I wanted to go back. My first thought was it was cleaner inside then I remember the first time. It's a typical Walmart and pretty much has everything you need. I was looking for certain hats and this place had more to offer. I was actually kind of impressed. Best part about this store, and something I was Target would get, is they have automatic checkouts. This is a huge win for me...so much so I almost rather go here than Target just so I can check out myself. This is a pretty standard non-Super Walmart, however, I am curious about one thing. Why are there throngs of employees hanging out in front of the store, apparently on their lunch or coffee break. I've been to the store in the daytime and nighttime and there always seems to be at least two to three employees hanging out in front of the store. There has got to be a different place for them to hang out. I think that the manager should address this ASAP. In terms of the store...it is adequately stocked and I don't really have an issue with the availability of the products I want. I cannot think of a word that adequately characterizes how much I despise this store. I try to make my trips here as brief as possible. Unfortunately, something in my hard wiring remains convinced that it does have the lowest prices on some everyday necessities so I continue to return. I also have this nagging notion that, given the state of my 401(k), some day I'll be reduced to the position of "greeter" to be able to keep the lights on. I do have to spot them some slack in two areas. First, you should thank your deity of choice that this store actually has widened the aisles since it opened. Second, USE THE SELF CHECKOUT; I promise you are smarter and faster and the machine is more professional and courteous than any live cashier in the store. This is by far the worst retail store (of any kind) that I have ever been in. The store is dirty and there are literally entire shelves that are empty because the merchandise is out of stock. If you need help finding something you're out of luck because you won't be able to find anyone to ask. On the off chance you do locate someone, they might say "I don't know.. " which happens to be the response I received. Finally, pay close attention at the register because I notice several items (all in one trip) that rang up at a different price than they were marked. I thought perhaps the first time I visited this store it was just a particularly bad day so I went again the other day, and I had the same experience. I'm not a huge Walmart fan in general. I tend to only enjoy shopping at these stores in small towns (shout out to the awesome Walmart on 105 in Montgomery!), but occasionally Walmart is the only place that has what I am looking for in stock and at a reasonable price. When those times come, the Meyer Park Walmart is my go-to since it's the closest location to my home. Compared to other Walmarts, the Meyer Park store is small, cramped and outdated, and it even feels dirty. There is simply too much stuff in this store and the aisles aren't wide enough to accommodate for the heavy weekend traffic and multiple carts being pushed down the aisles. The employees are unhelpful and often rude, and they do not appear to be interested in assisting customers. I have seen many of them texting and gossiping with each other, and they appear annoyed when I have asked for help locating an item. SO SORRY to bother you! The only redeeming thing about this location is the self-checkout station. There are at least half a dozen self-checkout registers, and they are typically empty. When you have just a couple of things, this is by far the fastest way to get out, since there are usually only a few cashiers working the other registers and there are typically a handful of people waiting in line for each. When leaving the store, it's best to have your keys in hand before hitting the parking lot, as occasionally there are homeless beggars wandering around the lot hitting up customers for cash. And, unless you are a big, burly, intimidating man, I would not suggest coming here after dark. read more

I don't go to Wal Mart unless I absolutely have to, and last week I had to. I was returning some things, and at this location the check cashing station and returns are all done in the same place, so the line was outrageous (that was my fault for coming in on a Friday/payday afternoon). This place is not well kept at all and the employees seem to have no pride in their work at all, so it's a really depressing place to be, especially if you're having to wait in a line. When I made my returns I went to get the item I was exchanging things for, and there was only one left (it was a children's toy) and it was held together by tape and a prayer. I just gave up and ordered it online after checking at another Wal Mart and them not having it either. The other reviews about not coming here at night - all legitimate concerns. Ghetto store. Every time I have been in this Wal-Mart they have been out of various things that I need. DON"T EVER GO HERE AFTER DARK! My wife and I went a couple of weeks ago and there was a swarm of police cars at the entrance. As we approach the store a guy come's flying out of the garden center with police running after him. The guy jumps in his car and two police men were trying to pull him out. One Police guy tried to mace him but he must have missed or not gotten the stun-cap off. The guy got away and flew out of the parking lot 90 to nothing. Then we go into the store and the ONE thing we need, guess what? They didn't have it.... LOL Also these cashers I thing share a brain, they have to work in pair's and even with 2 they are slower than Christmas!!! This store SUCKS ROCKS!!!! read more

I've accepted Walmart as a necessary evil. It's gonna be in your town, it's gonna be big and it better be open. All walmarts however are not created equal and this location is particularly run down and diminished. I live close-by and come here only when I absolutely have to...even then it's a drag. I've been inside this Walmart store and I found it was very clean and several customers where shopping. It was very convenient to get to, right off 610 highway off the feeder road. I had no problem getting in and getting out. The only one thing I was a little disappointed, because they don't sell cold cuts or Ice Cream. I had to pick up those items on a different day. And a different store, it would have saved me some time and gas if I could have purchased the two items from this store. read more

There is nothing really positive to say about this Walmart. One major thing is I don't l like the neighborhood. I came here one night to do some grocery shopping and to my dismay I was around a certain group of people who will go unidentified but needless to say I was uncomfortable. Grocery shopping here was a sham! I thought that it was a Super Walmart (the one that I have been used to since way back when) and when I found out that there was only THREE lanes of groceries I was beyond irate. Not only did I drive out of the way because Super Target and Kroger are so much closer to my apartment but did not get all the things on my list. I thought that all Walmart's would have been converted by now. I guess this location is not on the list for a renovation. On a more uplifting note I did think the store was really clean. read more

This honestly may be one of the most hood Walmarts I've been to. I can't decide if this one or one I went to in St. Louis is worse. And I've been to quite a few in my day, so I'm making this statement relative to other Walmarts. I have yet to come here and walk through the parking lot and not be offered either (a) drugs, (b) a mix tape (c) bootleg DVDs, (d) a date (or something much more vulgar) from one of the men selling the aforementioned items. Employees and store management poorly trained in customer service skills and interaction with customers is frequently delivered in an unprofessional and unfriendly manner. There are a few employees who do make a great effort to deliver good customer service. But overall, only about 30% of the employees in this store try to deliver good service. Better to do business with Walmart online or use Amazon instead. read more

Walked in just like any old Walmart but it had no grocery and hardly any clothes for women. Remember when all the old Walmart's turned into supercenters? Well this Wally World isn't one, and it looks like they changed it back because it's still huge! Waste of time. I am only giving this place a star because Yelp! makes me. This is one of the worst wal-mart's around. I used to be a fan of wal-mart when I was younger and in college but as I grew up it's gotten really bad. Wal-mart's get more and more ghetto. If I ever do come here I feel like I'm hassled for a hand out constantly. But the worst experience I ever had here was with my purchase of a ps3. I bought it online from wal-mart because they had a special going for $100 dollars off. The ps3 broke within a week so I figure I would exchange it at this wal-mart. I came in with my ps3 and went to the electronics department to get a ps3. The worker told me to go wait in the exchange line first. So i waited in that line for almost 2 hours. Then when I finally get to the front she's just like oh just leave your ps3 here and go get one from the electronics dept. I was quite angry at this point but whatever I went to the electronics dept and what do I see? No one, I call for a worker to come to the electronics dept and it takes another 30 mins for them to finally show up. And they tell me oh we're out of ps3s. So I end up having to wait another 30 mins to get my original ps3 back. I swear to never come back to this location unless I really need something! read more

Pretty bad for a WalMart. Three isles of ice cold beer and wine... milk, nowhere to be found. If you can't find dairy products forget about the produce. Holy cow...If i could do a NO star review I would. Where to start...first of all, seriously with the incredibly RUDE associates. There is nothing worse than going in to a store and the associates have a bad attitude. The store is messy, and I can guarantee I will not shop there ever again. This Walmart is horrible! The food selection... There is NO food selection! I spend 20 plus minutes looking for carpet cleaner, they don't have it! Like what? It's Walmart! Like others have mentioned, this is smaller version of the modern Super Walmarts that have everything. This store has less sq ft'age and shelf space so you will not find everything in it. They do sell a few essential grocery store items like milk and eggs though. For getting one of two things that you need you can be in and out fast if you go through the garden center checkout during the day time. The main checkout lanes seem to always been crowded because they simply lack enough cashiers at registers. The self checkout also tends to have lines in it. The parking lot is the worst thing of all about this location because it is very compact and has narrow lanes. Traffic is always bad the lot and people drive way too fast because the speed bumps are tiny. Your best bet is to go during non-peak hours (early on a weekday before work). Yes, this store has Blacks as its primary customer base and that is primarily because this store serves pretty much the entire area of Houston inside the loop and to the Gulf Freeway plus surrounding areas. The homes that are within walking distance to this store are in the $350K+ range and it is not the ghetto. People who have racist thinking will pretty much make themselves targets for crime be acting funny and like victims. If you just buy your things and go you should be fine but on the flip side I would not do something stupid like take out a $100 bill in the parking lot and walk around saying "I'm rich". The entire shopping center this store is located in was Class A commercial property in the late 80s. It has since declined hard. The AMC theater near the store shut down a few years ago and is currently being demolished (Dec 2010). The Randalls store in the same center also has gone down. A woman in her 70s was shot and killed in the parking lot a few years ago during a robbery. Where Walmart sits was a small hill that people used to use as a driving range to practice golf skills. This is by the dirtiest, slowest, ill-kempt, and disgusting Walmart I have every been too. I walked in and it literally looked like a movie scene where the zombies/monsters/apocalpytic/undergrown volcano explosion has occured and people are looting the store. I have been in here a few times out of PURE necessity, and this most recent time is just the best example of the experience you can look forward to if you walk in this store. 1. I walked in for a card table. After traversing the store and locating the section with tables, I literally had to DIG to find the one I wanted because they were either strewn about, broken, or just crap. So I found a non-broken table and drug it to the front of the store for check out. 2. I was in line behind someone for at least 7 minutes, just one person. And the slowness was not really for any particular reason. I ended up running to another register since the person I was standing behind was still not checked out. 3. I presented the table for check-out and was told I couldn't buy it because it didn't have a tag. I asked the man to just look up the item number, they do that stuff like at ANY OTHER STORE, and he said no. "You can't buy it if it doesn't have a tag." I explained that I didn't think there were any other tables back there, and he just said no. 4. I went back to the table section, rummaged (literally) through the tables till I found a broken one with a tag on it partially, ripped the tag off, and then slammed it down in front of the cashier and told him to check me out. He shut up and checked me out and I walked out with that stupid table. AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE read more

I was going to buy some golf balls. When i asked an employee how much they were she said the were not in the system. She asked a manager, he sais he had to put it in the system so I could buy them. I said find I have othere things to buy, I will swing back to that area. I came back 5-10 min later and his about 10 feet away from where he was earlier and told me hold on I have to go to the back put it in the system.
