The value is up there in price... we are talking the $$$-$$$$. Parking: paid street parking, free retail garage parking. Shops: most of the luxury name brands you can dream of, are stationed in this district so if you plan to treat yourself, this is the place to do it.

But Houston, we need to talk about bathrooms. First, the good. Rice Village is a really cool shopping area. There's a great mix of stores, restaurants, coffee, and other places, and you can easily spend a few hours walking around. It's busy, lively, and definitely worth visiting. Parking, however, is congested and annoying. There are paid lots around the area, but when it's busy, be prepared to hunt for a spot and then walk. Honestly, that part doesn't bother me that much. It's a popular shopping district. I get it. What I don't get is the almost complete lack of accessible public bathrooms. You have an area filled with stores that would happily let you spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars, but apparently asking for somewhere to pee is a bridge too far. Maybe businesses are worried about people coming in just to use their bathrooms. I understand there are legitimate issues businesses have to deal with. But there has to be some middle ground where the person buying expensive pants can also pee when nature calls. Pro tip: Starbucks has a bathroom. Of course, it was locked, there was a line, and you needed a code. At that point, finding a bathroom in Rice Village started feeling like a side quest. When you're standing in a shopping district with a parking lot full of $100,000-plus vehicles, surrounded by high-end stores and restaurants, and everyone is apparently on a scavenger hunt for a toilet, something has gone terribly wrong. Come on, Houston. Do better. Still loved Rice Village. Still recommend going. Great shopping, great food, and a fun place to spend an afternoon. Just use the bathroom before you get there.

This is kind of a rundown mall which is massive and has lots of space and some older buildings and then some newer buildings. I like it but also I don't like it, and it definitely reminds me of an era gone by. Service here isn't too bad, such as at the popular Mexican restaurant and at the chain pharmacy - the Walgreens is open later than most. You can find some pretty good stuff here and pretty typical strip mall stuff.

The atmosphere is pretty chill here. Mirror walls and fountains created a nice scenery. It's very well kept. Each building has its own speciality. Plaza 3, 4, and 5 are connected through concourse with a food court. It gets pretty busy around lunch since that's when everyone comes down to get lunch. There is Burger-chan, Feges BBQ, Cilantro, Alonti, Rice Box, and etc. It's also connected to the Double Tree Hilton Hotel with a Starbucks. Parking is a bit tricky, but just follow the signs for visitors parking -$2 per hour. The building might seem confusing if you don't work here, but most of the buildings are connected or there is short-cut to get to them. On days with good weather, eating outside feels great with overlooking the fountains. They have plenty of outdoor tables near building 8 and 9.

I came to meet a friend for ice cream at Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. It costed $9.04. After one hour and 35 minutes, the parking kiosk said I owe $6.50. Man, that's the most expensive ice cream date I ever had. Besides the cost of parking, the courtyard was full of mosquitoes. I got bitten at least 8 spots. I can see them hovering around my friend's face. They sure are hungry for fresh blood. One review said they offer 90 minutes free parking. I really wanted to confirm that. My friend lost his ticket. And he paid $21-ish to get out. If there was camera that scanned our license plates, they should have a better way of handling "lost tickets". I don't know about him. But I'm not likely to return unless they honor the free parking.

They have a beautiful outdoor sitting area and offer valet and a parking garage. most stores offer validation for garage parking, however the garage slots are VERY tight. Be cautious.

I think my mission is nearly complete…read more This is a super cute mall which is a little bit unheralded, because it's across from Katy Mills and most people just go there, and I don't think most people come over here at all, of course we do though. It's clean and nice and has a cool Russian grocery store, and some little places that we like to check out now and then. I definitely give it a four star rating, even though the road next to it is really annoying for getting in and out.
