This store has the worst customer service on Kauai. To treat people the way that walmart does is very unprofessional and I hate going there

walmart! it's the only one on island. they've got you covered-- from clothing, (some) groceries, hardwares, electronics, garden, cosmetics and even a pharmacy! i feel like this store is kept clean and neat. they tend to keep a good stock of items and when you need help looking for something, there is usually an associate around to ask for help. read more

The reviews online by prior visitors to this Walmart in no way met with what we experienced yesterday. The selection of every ordinary grocery item was woefully inadequate. It reminded me of what the grocery store shelves look like in Miami when a hurricane approaches. We were led to believe that fresh fruit and fish was available here. THIS STORE DOES NOT STOCK ANY FRESH FOOD! Keep this mind be because fresh fruit and fish are certainly items one wants when visiting Kauai. We recommend Big Save which is very close to Walmart and has an incredible selection of local fruit and seafood. We also found great deals on other foods native to the island. The prices were not noticeably higher than Walmart. Most telling of all that this is a good place to shop: most of the other shoppers were Kauai residents. read more

If the TSA ransacked your luggage and now you're out of sunscreen, bug spray, and toiletries, I'd come here. Walmart prices in Hawaii. I love how all these mega stores in Kauai don't get super crowded and the lines at the check stands are just a couple minutes. I've been to Walmarts in the middle of Po-Dunk USA, and I've waited close to 20-30 minutes in line to buy camping gear that I needed. Anywho- definitely hit up Wal-Mart before going to your hotel. read more

Yep...It's a Walmart! The plus about this Walmart is that it is by the airport and a quick stop to pick up some of the essentials for our condo a bit cheaper than the grocery stores. We purchased our snack food, soda and condiments here. The shelves were pretty sparse and slim pickings. Make sure you look at the "best if used by date" as some of the stuff was expired. read more

I'm starting to hate walmart! I never had a problem but recently they started no big bags in the store and that started to tell ppl that ppl with big bags needs to put them in lockers right when you enter the store. I was very upset! i mean i know the workers were doing there job. But i was entering with my baby and told me that i had to leave my baby bag in the lockers. I told the lady by the door are you kidding me?!. I told her what if my baby needed something? you expect me to walk all the way back to the front and grab my baby bag. I don't think so!. I asked one of my friends that work at walmart and she said it's only for the people that have backpacks or even the homeless that have bags but as of people that carry or have baby bags are allowed. Walmart needs to get there stories right because i bet not just me but i bet other mothers that have baby bags have issues like this. read more

Typical walmart store. Good thing about this place is the souvenir section. Right next to McDonald's you get everything you want as a souvenir. Magnets, shirts, caps(starting at $5), beach hats ($14), leis, toy ukulele, wooden photo frames, certified plant stems, bulbs, key rings, luggage tags, calendars and stationery items. read more

I really do not care for Walmart at all but since I wasn't driving I either had to go on in or stay in the hot behind car. The souvenirs were actually not all that inexpensive here and I've seen them cheaper throughout the island. I bought a whole ton of junk food like hot Funyuns and some Hawaiian candy to take back. They also have top shelf liquor up in here and it's reasonably priced. read more

It's a Walmart! It's a small one with hardly any fresh food. Great selection of souvenirs right inside the door to the left. Excellent selection of snorkel gear in sporting goods. 8 dollars and up. Lots of drinks/snacks. Easy to find. Safeway has much better food selection and similar prices. This Walmart had quite a large selection of Filipino foods. read more

I'm not giving it one star because they do have a lot of stuff that I do need and buy such as tp and detergent, however, since when is it any of the cashiers business to tell me how to decorate my house? Uh, you work at Walmart with gray roots honey, pretty sure I don't need your style advice! I was going through the checkout with my new white plush bath rug that I am pretty excited about when the cashier says, "you're going to put a white bath rug in your bathroom?" Uhhhh yeah! Do you have an issue with that? Haha then she proceeded to tell me the colors in her bathroom... She's probably a dirty hoarder so I can understand why she wouldn't want white in her home, but I'm VERY clean... I like Walmart and I really like the employees there. What I do not like is the fact that if you want to buy a bottle of wine they make you feel like a criminal. All the wine is locked up. You have to call an employee to come unlock it. Since these folk are usually busy it can take some time for someone to get there. Then instead of giving you the bottle to put in your cart they ask you if you are ready to check out then they carry the bottle to where ever you are going to check out (I always go to the self check out) and they hand the bottle to the person assisting with the self check out. To me this is overkill since they have someone stationed at the door to check your receipt. I feel like a criminal therefore I do not buy wine there anymore even if I do have to pay more for it and I find that I am doing more and more of my shopping at K-Mart and Longs. read more

About everything you would expect from your local Walmart, but I found the associates to be visible and more helpful. Selection was average. They did have a nice section of Mac nut gifts that were reasonably priced. This is a great place to pick up any incidentals that you may have forgotten at home, bandaids, hairspray...etc. I tried to use Savings Catcher here and no area competitors were found, so my receipt wasn't processed. ShopKick works though, be sure to get your walk-in points here! Also, no bags are provided. You can purchase reusable bags for 50 cents each or I recommend bringing a few from home as I did. Only con, U-Scan systems were pretty outdated and navigating through check out wasn't quick-a nice associate did come over and help me, though. read more

Good place to pick up those items you forgot or just didn't want to pack. Best prices on the island for sunscreen, towels, souvenirs, swimwear, etc. Very convenient location from the airport and car rental companies. We went here a couple of times to pick up last minute items. The place serves a purpose, although not one of my favorite places to shop. read more

Where would I be without Walmart? A one stop shop for almost anything. If your Walmart at home has a grocery section, do NOT expect to find that here, though. There is no bakery or fresh produce. Also, bring your shopping bags as Kauai is a "no plastic bag" zone and Walmart will send you out with your items back in your shopping cart. read more

I dislike walmart but when you're on Kauai and need toothpaste and a grass skirt... Kidding. I went here because I needed sunscreen but wish this place didn't exist (in Hawaii or otherwise). Tip: they don't offer disposable bags, you have to pay $0.25 for a reusable bag. read more

This is where we go to buy our shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion for the week we stay (instead of packing it in our luggage.) There are some souvenirs here as well, but I think the souvenir section in Kmart is more extensive. You can get good deals on coffee, Kauai Kookies, and Anahola Hawaiian Granola. read more

Ok, it's Walmart and I get it, you are on an island and run out of things. I worked at Walmart for a long time and know that they don't like for shelves to sit empty. Put something else there but change the sign. There is no way that you can be out of that many items and not have something to put in it's place. Your stockers should treat every day here like it is Christmas and put more stuff out than can really fit on the shelves. Or here is an idea, have someone stock during the day like they used to. I know this isn't you're fault but you stocking 2 cases of $6.99 detergent on the shelf where the $3.99 belongs is you're fault. read more

Not bad for a Walmart. Pretty busy location. Clean inside. They have the best deals on souvenirs, and since tourism is big here that's important. You can get all of your pasalubong accounted for without breaking your budget. Happy face!!! The service is typical Walmart decent, but not exceptional. I was looking for some sweat pants because it was actually colder than what I am used to during my stay. The ladies section had a ton of sweat pants, but they were for taller women. Since I'm short I would have had to roll up the pant legs, so I wandered into the girls section and found the perfect sweats with the right length legs for half the price of the women's sweats. Then I went to the shoe section and found some girls flip flops that fit me for $7 bucks less than the women's size. SCORE!!! Other than that, they do have great prices on gifts and stuff to take home to the family. read more

Clean store. Was ok. Not much in the way of inventory but we made do and the prices were definitely better than the Times grocery store.

What a great little Walmart. Was able to get a few gluten free items for our allergy challenges. Very difficult to navigate while on vacation so thanks to this Walmart we are covered for the week. Yea!! read more

Hahaha, WalMart. My parents live close and we come here frequently when I'm home. You can get whatever you need. I see a lot of tourists here as there is a pretty big souvenir area. There's a McDonald's in it. I mean, it is better than KMart. It's convenient. It's a standard WalMart. What else is there to do on Kaua'i than go WalMart sometime each day. Haha. read more

Wal-Mart is a lifesaver on vacation, especially to my beloved adopted home state of Hawaii. It's a poorly kept secret that groceries and supplies here are expensive because so much is shipped in from elsewhere and real estate is expensive, driving up the cost businesses charge. With that said, a trip to Wal-Mart for provisions can save you from buying $8 burgers for a family of five. Plus, as other reviewers have indicated, you can save on t-shirts and trinkets, or items you inevitably forget, like extra batteries for your camera. It's pretty well stocked, cleaned, and organized, so finding items is easy, even with the hordes of other tourists stopping in for aloe to heal their sunburns. read more

I've shopped at this Walmart for over 12 years. I've definitely spent over $20,000 at this one location during that time. In general the service has been ok, and one thing that I appreciated was their returns policy. In fact directly behind the customer service counter is a sign that says "we will happily accept returns with or without a receipt" - and many times I returned something without a receipt and got in store credit. However as of today, my good feeling towards this store have gone away after they refused to refund or give me store credit without a receipt. I had to argue for 10 minutes with the CS staff, then get a supervisor, and finally an assistant store manager to process a $11 refund. The store's assistant manager told me "we'll have to claim these" meaning she wasn't going to restock the items- but these weren't perishable items, and they were still in unopened original packaging. So yes I did eventually get my $11 store credit, but it's completely unprofessional to have the management tell me that they wouldn't restock the item - hey that's your decision Walmart - why are you telling a customer that information unless you're trying to act like you're doing me a favor? The merchandise was in 100% perfect, completely re-sellable condition btw. You should honor the LARGE sign saying how you'll "happily refund" a customer who has no receipt - rather than act like you're doing me a big favor. Bottom line is they did refund me, but they lost my faith their store's ability to stand by its own policies. I'll use Amazon or Costco for anything I can get from them instead of Walmart. If this new policy continues to be enforced, I predict many Kauai residents will send their business elsewhere as well. Where's the aloha spirit you used to have, eh? read more

I like to see the Walmart's of the world when I travel and this one did not disappoint. It's small...really small, and everything is Hawaiian. Shirts, souvenirs, coffee and food. It's more expensive then you would pay in the states (duh) but it also has a lot of cools things. Also, bring bags! They do not offer paper or plastic bags at checkout - litter laws (kinda cool) so if you don't bring bags with you- plan on paying for cloth ones at checkout. Souvenirs are a lot more affordable than the shops in town and it's typically the same stuff. read more

This Walmart has flowers in the ladies room! They are like any other Walmart but, they have aloha! The clerks are lovely and helpful. Today a clerk helped my with my Walmart savings catcher. Great souvenirs! read more

15 March 2011 Went to purchase a TV that has a built in DVD player. During the purchase process there was a technical problem with my card - Dino in the Electronics Department was very curteous, helpful and patient when the call to said card company was transferred from department to department. After five minutes of conversation I was ready to cancell my card, but this fine gentleman put the transaction through for the 4th time and we finally had a sale. He then walked out to my car with me to load the TV in my van. I have always had a good experience in this WalMart and will continue to shop there. Nice people and a varied selection of goods. Always nice to have a enjoyable shopping experience. Mahalo to all the service people at Kauai's WalMart, but a special "Thank you" to Dino. read more

Great place don't get me wrong. I go there all the time. But why only 2 stars? The workers there are terrible. They have no idea where items are. An employee didn't even know what rice Krispie treats were! Worker assumed that the credit card I was using wasn't mine and refused to sell me tent stakes that i planned to use for camping. Supposedly I have to be 18 to buy them? Which i am and didn't even bother to ask for my ID. I've also been questioned several times whether or not I was planning on purchasing the item that i was currently looking at. I'm not saying that all the employees there are bad but many of them are very rude and have no respect for the customers. read more
