When on Vacation.... Act like a local. Live like a local. Shop like a local. And when it comes to your local neighborhood grocer, nothing says local like the historic Sueoka Market located in the heart of Koloa Town. With roots dating back over 100 years, this local grocery store has that small town feel all while maintaining the heart, hospitality & values dating back to its inception onto the island of Kauai. A grocery store with a concentration of Asian cuisine/products that encapsulates Hawaiian culture, fresh meats, local produce and of course a great selection of Hawaiian gifts, novelty items and Hawaiian Fare are available. I'll admit this is not where we do our regular grocery shopping when we come to Kauai, but we always stop in to look at their selection and usually pick up a few gifts for family back home. This most recent trip, what caught my eye was their amazing produce section. The colors and the freshness of their fruits and vegetables really appealed to me and I recommend supporting this market for all your produce needs. (Check out my pictures below). Although we been to Kauai several times and will no doubt be back many, many more times, I have never eaten at their snack shop located right outside the entrance, but next visit, it's on my list. For those coming to Kauai for the first time, definitely make the time to come visit old Koloa Town. They have some great eats, shops and of course, The Sueoka Market.

Located in Koloa Kauai, on the side of a super market. there is no seating only to go orders. We ordered a loco moco. It was surprisingly light and tasty. One portion can feed two persons. It was a very memorable meal and all the local contractors come here. I highly recommend it!

Its been awhile since we came here so we took alittle excursion to the south side.It was around lunch time and I was surprised that it wasn't bz!.We tried to call in our pick up order but they weren't answering the phone. So we just went to the order window. While waiting for our order we stepped in the store and looked around n bought a few things. The store has produce, meats, frozen food's,snacks, liquor, cold drinks, souvenirs n much more!.When our order was ready We ordered some Cheese burger deluxe fries n wontons.I had the Double Cheese burger deluxe with half cooked fries.ohhh man the burger was huge!.I loved it with the half cooked fries made it off the hook!..For less than $10 it's a deal!!.So when you're hungry and don't have a lot of cash stop by here..Like what we say,Mean da grinds!..

This was a super great market to grab some snacks and gifts for people. They have a huge selection of souvenir items and things like chocolate covered macadamia nuts. They also had a large selection of shooters. I don't really drink but I thought this Don Julio 1942 shooter was awesome. I also got the lilikoi hichews. When I bought those the lady working told me they only sell those and the pineapple ones in Hawaii. We got both and they were delicious. The vibe feels very local in here. Def want to try the snack shop food next time I come back!!

Love that they let me customize my order -- I got the patty for $2, which was juicy, tender, and nicely salty. I also tried the gravy for an extra charge, but it didn't really stand out. The fresh malasadas were bomb -- $1.49 each or $15.99 for a dozen. I went on Friday during their 3-5 PM window, and people were already lining up by 2:50 PM. The fresh poke I bought in the store was decent overall, though a few pieces were a bit tough to chew. Fast service and a laid-back, casual vibe.

Wow, what an amazing market with many things I have never seen before, and in some cases I had no idea what it is... nonetheless very interesting. It looks very much like an old style Hawaiian market where locals shop. It isn't exactly the cleanest yet only because it is showing its age, perhaps. I had a fine time just wondering the aisles and educating myself on the variety of things available. One Filipino dessert pastry looked good so I got it, along with a Japanese ball type confection. I had never heard of either yet quite good. Some of the fruit choices looked appealing so I got a papaya cut in half with lime. Fresh and delicious. If you're in the area skip some of the touristy shops and take a walk through this stor you'll undoubtedly find tseats and interesting items in every aisle.

    Papayas $2.29/lb.

It's a nice market/grocery store packed with fruits and veggies as well as essentials. Service was super friendly and welcoming. Aisles were clean and items were arranged neatly. There were street and store-front parking and more in the back. Parking was free, just be mindful of the chickens.

Love this place, we go every time we are in Kauai. Really friendly staff, they love talking about the store and the snack shop. We get the spam musubi, or loco moco when we're in a rush. The snack store outside is good too, but when there are not open, they do sell their products inside. Our favorite local market near Poipu

Cool old style market that's part of the ABC chain. (Not sure if this is only a Hawaii' chain generally frequented by visitors to the islands but I believe so). Well I was a visitor to Kauai from Oahu and stopped here to pick up snacks and soda. Selection was better than Big Save up the road. Lots of local style snacks and plate lunches available 8:30-2:00 week days and to 3:00 on Saturday. What I loved, besides the friendly Garden Isle hospitality of the check out clerk was the local (ethnic) cooking items that are often no longer available in regular grocery stores on Oahu. There'sa nice selection of meats if you plan to grill i.e. cook your own. This is a one stop shop if you are staying in an Airbnb or rental condo with a kitchen and plan to cook some meals, and a great place to stop to grab some on the go snacks or late breakfast or lunch before heading out to see the sights of the West side of Kauai.

Great casual little market to pick up snacks and food! I think it's also part of the ABC store brand as well. My husband and I came here and bought some musubis, butter mochi, and saimin. We also tried out their hot food deli which you order outside and the food was really good! Portions are generous so we shared a plate. They have a decent size parking lot, so we never had trouble grabbing parking. Service was friendly.

We sat on the patio but they call the main dining room however it is outside. The host and the servers were very nice on both days helping us choose our dishes and beverages. The first night were shared the shrimp and unui (sp?) patties. They were tasty and slightly sweet but over-charred and the sauce served with them did not complement them very well. It needed a fresher sauce or something with a little kick The first night I Had the chicken Which is actually a tiny little bird I should've known from the name. - pouisson. It was well cooked, but there was very little meat on all of the bones. And also needed a sauce of some kind. The one baby bok choy was a nice addition. Two of the group had the fish and chips it was made with swordfish that night and was very tasty. However, the chips were slightly limp and not hot. No one wanted to return them, but they really were not very good. One of the other entrées was the veggie bowl with seared Aji tuna and it had quinoa at the bottom with lots of roasted beets and other vegetables. It was a very good dish. The second time I ordered the grilled seafood bowl because that night they were offering Oppa as the grilled fish on the kebabs/skewers that were served on top of the bowl the seafood was cooked, absolutely perfectly, and it had pickled cucumbers, pickled red onions, slightly cooked carrots, and then regular cucumbers on top of lightly dressed soba noodles. It was a very tasty and hearty bowl. We also ordered a kale, beet and blue cheese salad for the table, but what came out was their strange version of Caesar salad, which has chickpeas on it which of course we did not want. It took them quite a while to bring the kale and beet salad to the table, however when they did, it was quite tasty a combination I would not have thought of on my own The first night we ordered the passionfruit cheesecake which had a strange chocolate crust that was too thick and a very light topping of passionfruit. It was fine, but we would not order it again. The whole restaurant is a nice change from all of the really overpriced offerings in the area. The food is fresh and tasty and the service is professional and fun at the same time.

=== THE CUTEST. Funnest market we went to. Say hi to G and have lunch there on their front porch!…read more=== We had seen Warehouse 3540 in Lawai on our trips to West Kauai, and after stopping there (also a really great stop but that's another review) walked back to Lawai Market. Super glad we did! Lawai Market has tons of house-made baked goods, a kicking deli section, incredible bread, smoothies, local goods (mostly food kinds), interesting alcohol/spirits, just tons of fun stuff. Counter folks were super friendly, G was especially friendly and helpful, offering recommendations, helping us out, talking story with us, and making us feel at home. Specific thoughts: ++ House-made s'mores bar. Huge portion. Five of us shared one. Topped with toasted marshmallow, then fudge-y brownie, then this incredible crust which seemed like graham cracker shortbread - never had a crust like that. Almost impossible to cut through because it's so wonderfully thick. It literally stays on the knife you use to saw through it. But oh so good. Each bite lasts a long time as you make your way through the layers. + They had more than a dozen other pastries, again, all house-made fresh every day. G says the tres leches cake (beautiful and floating in the cream mixture) and the brownie parfaits are crowd favs. ++ Curried chicken salad. Supreme comfort food but with strong flavors of curry (they don't mess around), raisins, and all sorts of other textures. FILLING - our group of five couldn't eat more than half of the small container and we loved it. ++ Egg salad. Punchier than most egg salads with lots of strong dill. Tended to like the chicken salad more but dug into this when I needed a break from the curry. + Spicy poke. Good and fresh. Personally like the spicy poke from The Musubi Truck better, but this was still solid. Always love the creaminess if the aioli. + Purple power smoothie. You can tell there's something healthy in there - not like your normal straight up sweet smoothie. (I think it's kale.) But this really grew on me. ++ Focaccia. Oh man. Salt crystals on top, great texture to the bread. Our group are bread connoisseurs and they loved this. We went back for a second loaf because we devoured the first one. ++ They have small sizes of everything in their deli which makes getting a selection of a bunch of things for your group easy. We literally sat out there and walked back into the store three or four times to browse and get more items. And walked out with more and more each time. Sitting on their front porch is great too. Yes, the main road goes right by there but lush trees and Kauai greenery abounds on the other side of the road which makes the whole space awesome to hang in. Make this stop - you won't regret it.

Love this little market!…read more They have a small grocery selection as well as hot food and baked goods. Also açaí bowls, smoothies, and coffee. I ordered soft serve with their chocolate haupia flavor and it was amazing. So fresh and creamy and flavorful!
