Don't shop here if you have a baby.... I am a frequent shopper here and have NEVER had any issues when bringing in my diaper bag. All of the sudden today I was stopped on my way into the store and told I wasn't allowed to enter because I had my 6 MONTHS OLD daughters diaper bag with me. I was forced to put into a locker leaving me without all of my daughters belongings. What if I needed to change her? I wouldn't have had any of my things to do so. What if she got hungry? Still wouldn't have her stuff. She told me I could take out everything and put it in the cart. I'm sorry, but I am not going to dump the bag into the cart for a trip that took all of 20 min to complete. She then had another lady follow me to the locker and she watched me put everything into the locker and take out what I needed for my daughter. Then she just looked at me and was all "sorry" in a snobby attitude and I said "it's whatever, it's just annoying" she then proceeded to mumble under her breath in another language. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I have never had such a fiasco just for a quick shopping trip. I am beyond disappointed how the employees at the front door treated me and my baby today. Only Wal-Mart on Kauai but hey it's Wal-Mart. It's not the biggest but they have the things people need. Even though I grew up on Kauai I still get confused on where to find certain things, don't ask me why. People... it's a Walmart. It will have all your essentials (beauty products, food, booze, touristy stuff) so take advantage of finding everything under one roof. I used to think that this Walmart didn't have any PoWM but I was wrong this time around. I saw my first neck beard... it was out of this world, truly. I don't have Walmarts near me back home so this was quite an experience. I digress... sorry. Parking lot is huge and bring your own bags or you'll have to buy some there. Check out lines were super fast and they even sold fireworks during new year's (which we enjoyed). If you can't get to Costco, this is your best bet. read more

This is a shout out to Joann, who works the counter at the Pharmacy. She and Daniel have always delivered friendly, efficient service over the years, but this past week I had an issue with my husband's prescription and needed an override. Joann went out of her way to reassure me that she'd do what she could, and spent a lot of time on the phone calling HMSA on my behalf and got the approval for me. Selection larger than Kmart and better pricing. We went to Kmart the first day based on proximity to Costco and another Yelp review that said it was better - we ended up going to Walmart a few days later and they had way more stuff and prices were better. I really think this place is heaven sent to travelers. It draws the same crowd that's looking for a great bargain. One can stock up on gifts to take home here. They have a ton of parking but it's a bit crowded. Cashiers are quick and kind. It is mostly organized. We purchased a case of water here as well as coconut water to last us through our trip. It was a great buy. I really appreciated that they carried several types of sunblock as well as tanners. Chips for days! read more

I just returned from Kauai (2nd visit) & the Walmart in Lihue is great! Best deals on Hawaiian products! And a great selection of island inspired articles from everything to sewing materials, dishes, home decor, curtains, clothing, dry foods & beverages. The customer service is great as well. You can get any sporting goods item & I found the snorkeling items fit me fine. Meaning - you don't have to haul everything from the Mainland to enjoy the islands. The only tiny flaw is the lack of fresh produce, fresh fish, meats, etc. if you want to 'one-stop-shop'! But Kauai has tons of fish & produce markets so spread the local economy right? We did & had a wonderful adventure! read more

I don't know if it is Kauai in general or what, but is seems like the island is always "out" of products. Here at Walmart, the shelves are about 75% stocked so you won't get much choice besides what is there. I will give the Mcdonalds in there 5 stars for having good prices and choices. read more

Let me just start off by saying I DO NOT have the time to be going on this site and ranting or raving about places. But today I decided to go out of my way only because Walmart has officially pissed me off!!! You can't crack a smile from any employee there, most of them (not all) are completely rude, when you ask them a question about something they look at you like you are an idiot and make you feel like you are bothering them. And to the lady who I always see working out in the garden registers, frick you for telling me to move while I was looking for something and you needed to get where I was, and every single time I go to check out you never say one word, you can't even tell me my total or "thank you", NOTHING, same thing every time! Absolutely no customer service what so ever. My most recent incident was on Fourth of July when I spent about 15 minutes before 8 o'clock trying to find the fire works and speaking with several different employees that kept sending me all over the donkeys ass and the last person I spoke to said it was too late to purchase when I know I got there way before 8 and I didn't have my phone on me so I thought it was already past 8, and when I got back into my car, it wasn't even 8 yet!!!! The whole time I could have been buying fire works, they put them away early and were too LAZY to go and get them for me!!!! Walmart has bad employees. I wish there was an option to give no stars!!!!! read more

I had to buy diapers for my baby because she made an accident. So I went straight to the diapers section, grabbed diapers & wipes, went to the checkout & paid for both. After doing all that I went straight into the bathroom (with my receipt showing), I even passed 3 employees and as I was in the bathroom an employee confronted me demanding if I had bought those items (all while I was in the middle of cleaning up my baby). So I had to stop while my baby is half naked covered in poop just to show her my receipt. Even after showing her my receipt, and her staring at it for a good 2 minutes, she gave me back the receipt and didn't say sorry or anything and walked off. She was rude! Maybe if she would've asked me in a different tone or way or if she simply said sorry (after assuming I stole diapers and wipes) I would've gave more stars. They also didn't offer any plastic bags for the items bought. read more
