This is my neighborhood Walmart. It's always been sketchy--I never go after dark. But lately they have been putting more product behind locked cases. I am unable shop for cosmetics due to the cabinets. I like to read labels when I shop. Last time i was in, they also had laundry soap locked up. It's unfortunate that this is necessary due to theft, but it's too inconvenient for me to shop there regularly anymore. read more

This is why I prefer Target. Parking lot was littered with trash and the drive-up pickup area for online orders was confusing- needs better signage. I drove around several times and finally decided to just go inside and hope somebody could help me there, but a nice older gentleman worker saw me and must've sensed my confusion so he told me to get back in the car and that he would bring me my order and he did - much appreciated! I only went here because they have a particular brand of lotion that I like that I can't find anywhere else but from now on I think I will just order it online and have it delivered to my house. Needed a new tire and this Walmart was closer to me than the one I usually take it to. I asked them to install the new tire as well as rotate and balance them. I told the woman back there which tire I wanted replaced and then I get a call back and she told me I told her the wrong one. Then when I am told it's ready I asked the guys that they rotated all 4. No they didn't. They didn't listen and they didn't even to the right job. Next time I will be using a different Walmart. I had a great time in this Walmart. It's organization was a bit unique to a lot of Walmart's I have been in but I didn't mind. Lots of employees around to help. Also had security which is always a safety plus since I shop at night. Got a free mask on my way in. I really think some of the reviews for this place are just so petty. Someone gave a 1 Star because on the way out someone was greeted but they were not. Like really? Maybe he was just out of it and missed a person. Do you really need someone to say hi and bye on your way into Walmart? People are such narcissists these days. This was my first time here since I was a little girl ! I love how organized and neat this Walmart was ! I was very pleased with it until... I checked out my things and begin walking out the door , the "greeter" I guess is was he was suppose to be but he failed to even say anything me but was quick to greet the lady who wasn't even 6 feet behind me walking out right behind me ! Now I don't know if it's just me bc I'm a General manager or because I've been in customer service before but that just turned me all the way off and really made me feel Unwelcomed and not willing to come here to often unless need me ! If I could give their Auto Center zero stars, I would. I had a pinhole leak in my tire and called ahead to make sure they could patch it. They assured me they could so I checked in, gave my information to the front desk attendant, and was told it would take 30-45 minutes. After an hour passed I inquired what the status was. They told me they were unable to patch the leak unless I bought a tire from them. It's Walmart's policy not to do so if the leak is on the side of the tire. Why they didn't tell me this was their policy when I initially called is beyond me. It was a complete waste of my time. They returned my keys and said they wanted to tighten the lug nuts on my tire one last time. They began tightening the lug nuts on the wrong tire. I corrected them and they seemed super confused so the whole ordeal was just a mess. Do NOT recommend. read more

This Walmart is a little run down compared to the newer brighter stores. The Subway at the entrance is good, I have eaten there twice while waiting in long lines to return something. The Customer Service area is on the right when you walk in the door which means if they are busy there is a line across the entry to the store which makes it awkward. There is a small grocery section of frozen food and dry goods (coffee, chips, etc.) but no fresh produce. There is a small jewelry section, a decent electronics section and then the typical Walmart clothes, pet supplies and even a few tools/auto supplies. Think 'People of Walmart' when you go to this location even though it is in Johnson County. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and the prices are what you would expect from a discount store. The only reason I ever go to this store is because JC Penney's is next door and it's open late. Overall Walmart has great prices but you give up a little quality in terms of produce and people for better prices. read more

Beware of buying electronics from Walmart, especially at this location. They sold me a defective Moto "E7" phone (that's what the receipt says but not the packaging & Motorola says it is not an E7). The defects did not all show up immediately, impart because I rarely make calls on a cell phone. Walmart will ONLY take returns within 14 days (not enough for all defects to manifest themselves) & ONLY if the box is UNOPENED! HOW are you suppose to check for defects without opening the box?? This is really an anti-customer policy. The defects were verified by Motorola. Before I purchased the phone I questioned the functionality of a smartphone with only 32GB . The electronics clerk (appeared to me a department manager) insisted that an added SD card would integrate with the internal phone memory to give a 64GB functional memory. I do not know if he was lying OR ignorant of the products he sold, but it is NOT true & the "smartphone" cannot handle too many apps with its 32GB memory OR there is something wrong with the memory. I will no longer buy electronics from Walmart. read more

I have been tolerating this store because it is the closest Wal-Mart to me but enough is enough. Instead of contacting the Dr. re: a refill, the Pharmacy went back to a finished prescription from a year ago. They gave me the correct meds but gave me the wrong amount of tablets and then overcharged me. When I could not make the Moron at the Pharmacy understand the mistake, I asked for the Store Manager. I explained the problem and apologized for "yelling" at her. Her response was, "...that's what they pay me for, so people have someone to yell at." Seriously! She then gave me the incorrect information to follow up in trying to solve the problem. Eventually the Pharmacy Manger called. He was apologetic and after several conversations reimbursed the balance of the tablets. But in the end he got snippy with me. This was the last straw dealing with their Pharmacy. The line for the Pharmacy is always at least a 20 min wait. There are no associates on the floor to help you find something. So, you have to walk up to the front of the store and ask the person who stands around by the registers. There are often boxes sitting around when they are putting up displays and shelves are not kept stocked and fronted. The bathrooms are filthy. And, another review mentioned vehicles that park any which way, they use more than one space or just park crooked in the spot. I agree that is aggravating. You should have seen it last year when they had "goose poop" all over the south side of the building. I'm done with this store regardless of how convenient their location is. I strongly urge shoppers to use one of the larger stores. They seem to have more associates who are less incompetent. read more

hate to add another negative review but one time i went here and the greeter yelled at me for going in a door that was marked enter outside but exit on the inside. he demanded that i walk back out and in the correct door or "he was gon whoop my ass in the parkin' lot" he was some old white guy looked like one of the gremlins from harry potter. don't recommend going but if you do i hope you choose the right door the greeters don't like when you go in the confusing door. also nobody in the auto center is trained and if you took your car to walmart god help you i hope you got home safe. the employees look like they should probably get paid more walmart just struggles to keep good name with their record, you know florida and texas and all. read more

Everyone hates Walmart. Including me. That being said, I would hate this place even if it wasn't a Walmart. It feels grungy and worn. It doesn't appear as if anyone give's a rat's backside if stuff gets picked up and put in the right place. It's a smaller place with a limited selection. And it brings with it all of the other usual reasons to hate Walmart. But it's most unforgivable weakness is employee quality. Everyone seems to move slowly, as if they are force fed muscle relaxants and opiates on their breaks. They all seem to be reluctant to make eye contact and virtually unable to utter complete sentences. They are more likely to sigh forlornly than to smile. Have a question? Don't even bother. Don't. If you have been in the store for more than five minutes, you already have a better idea of where any given item is located than anyone who may be on the payroll. There are probably a few good people on staff, but I haven't had the pleasure of interacting with them. I do believe that this may be the most annoying crew of retail employees ever assembled. It's almost like it's some kind of intentional set-up for a reality show--some kind of Walmart Punk'd. I hate this place and I hate myself for stopping here occasionally. I wish to all available powers that I didn't feel a compulsion to save a few bucks whenever possible. I wish I could completely resist the allure of cheap so that I would never enter another Walmart. I'm working on it... But I'm not there yet. So, occasionally, I stop there. Perhaps I just forget how bad it is. Maybe I'm too forgiving. I don't know... What I do know is that this Walmart may be the saddest place in the world. A cloud of despair lurks just above every aisle. Almost every employee needs to have his/her antidepressant script upped. The other shoppers seem ghoulish and slow-witted. Everything is wrong. There is a sickness here. A horrible, horrible sickness. So, I guess it's just like most other Walmarts. Yeah... Walmart. So this is the only place I can get the shampoo my blonde beauty likes. It's a paraben and sulfate free formula. We've googled it and it's true- Walmart is the exclusive carrier. They generally stock only a few bottles at a time so I usually buy every single one one the shelf. I've turned into that guy. Seriously. This way I don't have to come back to the Walmart. On today's visit I went for shampoo, make up remover wipes and dishwasher mints. (That's what we call them in my house.) On the way to my targeted area I was forced to walk past rows and rows of shelving lining the check outs. Apparently this Walmart is having a bit of a clearance sale. I stopped to look at one of my daughter's favorite dolls. The price was right so Walmart-you win this impulse buy. There was a strange woman that appeared to push a cart full of madness. I thought for a moment, she was staking out the deals. (In true people of Walmart fashion. It was as of she were HUNTING them. The intensity on her face...)Then I saw her Walmart name tag and was really confused. Was she stocking it, returning items, shopping? I have no idea. So it is Sunday after all. And the store is pretty busy. I was shocked to see that only four check outs were open. Mind you, they were pretty difficult to find amidst all the crowed fuckery created by the clearance bargains. All of the checkouts where at least four shoppers deep. I found the "speedy checkout" and was second in line. I waited while the wrangler clad gentleman in front of me flirted with the checkout girl as she scanned his Axe body spray and seat covers. I avoid this place like the plague but some how the Walmart always finds a way. And there I am. read more

This place is so shitty that it ALMOST gets 5 stars for being such an awesome train wreck that you have to see it to believe it. But ultimately, it fails at that like anything else. This has to be one of the worst Walmarts I've ever seen (I don't hate all WalMarts intricately, in case that matters). The place is run down and sad looking. The layout is all sorts of screwy. i've found the same thing in 3 totally different locations. Crafts are split into at least 2 different areas. Things are just all over the place and it doesn't make any sense. This place has an absurd amount of "clearance" items and that doesn't help with the run down look and feel. One whole corner of the store is clearance stuff which means it is just a random assortment of crap for 5 aisles and so it looks a mess and disorganized. And then in the main walkways, there are more racks with clearance items. So i guess, in that way, it is a good place to find a deal, but otherwise it just makes the place seem trashy. The employees seem defeated (though some of them have been rather nice and helpful). The checkers, generally, just seem like they'd rather be anywhere else on earth, and when i'm there, I can totally relate. The best time to be at this place is first thing in the morning when it is mostly empty and you don't have to deal with any of the other customers who make the place even more colorful than it already is. Unless you live near this Walmart and it is convenient to you (we live super close by so it is just so damn convenient) there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO EVER GO HERE. Find any other Walmart in the city or a Target or any other option you can possibly think of. read more

Even for a Walmart, this place is pretty crappy. About a year ago, I'd run in because the kid was at practice nearby. At that time, there were teenagers skateboarding in the aisles, there were hardly any items on the shelves, and the place just looked like trash. Yesterday wasn't quite as bad in terms of appearance. No crazy kids rolling through the rows. Shelves seemed stocked. But all I wanted was to be able to go back to the Electronics department and get an external battery pack for the kid's cell phone, and they had none. NONE. That entire part of the display had all items missing. Barren. I hope I remember this the next time I need to "run in" here. This place sucks. read more

Sunday afternoon, memorial weekend. One man manning the lawn and garden department. Granted, Kudos to Antonio for being so professional and friendly. But this is horsecrap that he was left alone to handle that onslaught himself. Everything from answering stupid questions regarding mulch, running the cash register, selling and then loading riding lawn mowers. How many workers were standing up front watching the 'self check out lanes'? When i went to load my own mulch i coulda took it all had i had a flatbed (even tho i am fully capable of loading my own stuff). Sam Walton would be ashamed of this store and their shoddy treatment of employees, which in turn leaves the customers disgusted. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE TO BE SERVICED I repeat, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE TO BE SERVICED. As is common with one-stop oil change, and as can happen really anywhere, technicians over-torqued the drain plug using a pneumatic air ratchet tool, probably afraid that they weren't going to tighten it enough (despite the fact that if I had been driving my own car, I would have just done the oil change myself and hand-tightened it) (When are shops going to learn you don't save much time by using power tools?). This stripped the drain plug nut entirely, and gave them pause to think that they might've damaged the oil pan as well. I had intended to just make a quick stop on my way out of KC for a trip to Denver, where I was going to also assist a photographer on a job taking pictures of small towns on the way there. This ruined the entire trip. We had been waiting over two hours before anyone even came to tell us there was a problem, instead trying to deflect and saying "as soon as it was worked on and discovered, we came to tell you." Really? Two and a half hours, with one car ahead of us, and you came as soon as it had started being worked on? That's a poor attempt at a lie. I feel ambivalent about the fact that Walmart eventually paid for the damages, though they had disclaimed if it was more than their discretionary funds for situations like these, they weren't going to. That, if it was more than they were allotted for situations where they damage someone's car, then rifle through, and damage their belongings in the car, we would have to pay out of pocket and "submit for review and reimbursement". Told the owner of the car to just sign the settlement and never go to this location again, if any. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, again. read more

Wow. What a disservice to the customers that depend on this place because it's close to home. ...I would go out of my way to shop somewhere else! The aisles are crowded and tough to navigate with a cart. The shelves are stocked to capacity and cluttered. The check out line was crowded and although not unfriendly, the cashier at the 20 item or less line looked like she wanted to be anywhere other than there. I can't blame her. If I could give it no stars due to the premises being awful, crowded and messy, i would. However, I was asked if I would like some assistance and, when the item I purchased didn't fit my car and I brought the item back in for an exchange, I was promptly given cash back; so, the customer service was good, hence the star. I came in to have a tire patched and had a less than stellar trip. My boyfriend and I showed up at 6:55 A.M., just before opening. The doors opened at 7:00 and we were let in, but no one was available to help us and the door out was locked. It was 7:10 before an associate actually came over, and even then it took him a few moments to acknowledge us and the forming line. After explaining what we needed done, they said it would be 20-30 minutes. About 15 minutes later I got a call saying it could it be fixed due to being in the red zone of the tire. This wasn't their fault, so I looked into getting tires. I had a few brands in mind, but none were in stock. I was going to get some good year tires that were average, but they only had 3 in stock. Who only has 3 in stock?? That surprises me, as if anyone wants to buy a set they can't, and many of the services revolve around tires! I've been here three times and displeased each time. one night I came here for a late night frozen pizza and was shocked to find i only had about 3 choices and the other item I came for they simply did not have. I have been here twice for photo pick up for one hour photos and each time I have had to wait for over 15 minutes to get any service after having to track someone even down to help me. I come here out of pure necessity. I live very close by so if I need something urgently and don't want to drive very far, I come here. Otherwise, it's well worth the drive somewhere else. I will say, it's generally always clean, I'll give them that. I'd say it's 50/50 on friendly staff, most of the not so friendly staff at the checkout. Otherwise, no one really asks if they can help me while I'm shopping. I don't find a lot of staff except at the front of the store or in electronics. The one plus is that they recently had self-checkout lanes added which makes a world of difference getting in and out of there quick. Before, I could wait at a checkout lane for a very long time for just a couple of items and they never asked for backup. Their parking is not the best. I don't know why, but I always find cars that park horribly and leave it impossible to park next to, and people not watching out for others. For this reason, I just try to park the furthest lane away and stay clear of most cars when possible. read more

I shop here often since its nearby and today i had the worst experience. ... i was in the cleaning isle getting supplies i needed and the entire off display fell off the hooks I guess and hit my arm/elbow and the pharmacist seen this happen and didnt even bother to ask if i was okay or anything but responded with i will call to get a cleanup. I was fliored being i was shocked for one that it fell off when it did and that it actually hit my elbow and it hurt, then anxiety kicked in and i couldnt even think straight on what else i came for. It was clear he disregarded the fact i got hit by the display that obviously was not attached correctly. So all i can say is WATCH OUT for things stacked and displayed above. I actually dont mind this store until now. Seriously, customer safety while in the store is priority. read more

The fish were all dead!! We told the workers and they still did not clean the fish tank and as a previous fish owner I know that can kill the other fish. They still have not even thought about even going over to check. Then I called Customer service and they put me on hold 2 times and then thought I was messing or trying to prank them and so they hung up on me. And either way I was trying to call the manger to tell them but they kept on thinking it was a joke. And when we were in the dog isle, 1 isle away from the fish tanks I heard a family talking about and the children were sad. This Walmart location generally disgusts me every time I go there. Their selection on seasonal stuff is always very low. Their bathrooms are always horrendous. Oh and how about the body they found in its parking lot last weekend? That's horrible. Now I have to drive to the one on Shawnee Mission Pkwy for sure. This store barely gets one star. Their items were not up to par the presentation of the food was not well either. I purchased eggs and had to go through several cartons to just find one that had no broken eggs. I also purchased sandwich spread that I opened today(Monday) but purchased (Friday morning) and good thing I read the expiration date before eating because it expired April 17, 2016! I will never go to this store again, nor will I ever forward others to go to this store. read more
