Get card machines that work! This Walmart just replaced a bunch of their machines and got new cards readers. I went to self checkout today and had to insert my card about 8 times and then swipe it which didn't work (it's a brand new card btw). The gentleman next to me was having the same issue and was getting angry off too. He was saying he'd never had that issue anywhere else. If it was just me and my bank I wouldn't care, but it's multiple people and many banks. Now that they have got new card readers it seems to be worse and more frequent now.This isn't a new thing either, I've been shamed by an employee for not "having enough money" but when I went outside my account had more than enough money to pay for my bill. Do better Walmart, you guys have got enough money to do so. read more

Great store, I like it better than the other Walmart in Salem. I was able to find most of everything I needed. The man that helped me at the self checkout was helpful but not very friendly. It's cleaner and I feel safer at this location than the other one. read more

Went here today to see if I could find cases of my favorite energy drink and find out if they were less expensive than at my local grocery store. I don't think they carry it, but I'm not sure. I couldn't find it on my own. So I went up to an employee stocking shelves in the grocery section. Walked right up to him, looked right at him and in very clear English and in a loud enough voice that he should have had no trouble hearing me with my mask on, asked him if they carried the item I was looking for. He literally pretended I didn't exist, said nothing, wouldn't even look at me. I actually walked around to the other side of him, specifically to make sure he was not wearing hearing aids, or ear buds. He wasn't. This is a clear example of typical Walmart customer service, and the reason why most people hate shopping there. To shed an even more ridiculous light on this whole situation, Walmart actually pays better than most employers in that particular industry, so these employees really have no excuse for being so terrible at their jobs. read more

I bought four chairs from Walmart cost over $400 four seats arrived without legs without legs. It's been months now I still can't get them to give me the 16 legs I still have four big dining room seats without legs I don't know what the hell to do now but I'm not giving up!!!! I had planned on returning them however the 68 year old lady could not get those big dining seats back into the two boxes. Slightly sub-par Walmart compared to most. Had a mediocre experience on a recent visit. The food section lacked some of the basics that I was looking for and the bathrooms were being renovated so you have to use the facilities at the far back of the store. I wasn't terribly impressed. read more

Today, just a few hours ago, I went in their to purchase a 30-06 to begin my hunting career, but they where all stored in the back. I said I would wait as the guy brang them out 1 by 1. I then asked the guy if I could take a picture of them to compare them once I had seen them all, as they where just brought out 1 at a time. He said that was fine and I did so, and on the second rifle I asked again and he said it was okay, and then immediately after said I broke a rule, accused me of wanting to sell guns to a third party because I was taking pictures, and said walmart would now not sell to me. This was one of the most absurd things ive ever seen in my life, he lied to me and tricked me, so i thought I should talk to a manager and surely they would clear this up. The assistant manager who showed up had no idea how the rule worked and just backed that lying employee. This was beyond ridiculous read more

Great smaller Wal-Mart located on Commercial just off of Kuebler in South Salem. When you need something but don't want to drive across town to the other Wal-Marts or Target, this one should be just fine. I've always had good luck finding most of what I need non-food wise at this location, and I've found some of their prices to be a few cents cheaper than the other Wal-Marts. It does have a few aisles of groceries now so you can pick up that gallon of milk or carton of eggs. The checkout lines can get long during the day but at night I've always been able to whiz in and out without a wait. And I've always been able to get close parking. This is a good thing when the rain is pounding outside and I need to make the mad dash back to my car. :) NOTE: This Wal-Mart is NOT 24 hours. They close at midnight. And they DO want ya out of there BY midnight. read more

My mom and i bought 12 drinking glasses yesterday. We were worried about them breaking. Sandy, our cashier wrapped them one by one in paper and found a box that looked as though it was made just for them. The glasses are a birthday present for my sister. The box fits so well that all we have to do is wrap it. Thank you sandy for your help. She was kind and helpful. One of the few i saw with a genuine smile. Great service!! read more

I will not be going back to this store again. This Wal-Mart has turned into the north Salem store. I went there looking for a 3.00 dollar light bulb for my truck. Everything is behind locked glass and you have to ask for someone. It's turned into a trashy place where everyone is a thief. I understand locking up stuff that is really expensive but for a cheap light bulb? Give me a break. I would rather pay more money some place else and be treated better than deal with them. Today my nephew purchased a net spend prepaid Visa card. He is a minor and so therefore can not activate it. I called the store and was directed to an associate by the name of Brook she was incredibly helpful, and kind on the phone. She gave me the number to call. I was able to get my nephew his Refund through net-spend. My nephew stupidly bought the card but it was nice to have someone knowledgeable enough about the process to help me correct his mistake. read more

This review is specific to the cosmetic section: I used to shop here a lot, but no more. I don't like that if I go for a bottle of nail polish (or whatever) I am forced to stop and buy it on the spot, never mind that I am shopping for other things in the store and will go through the main check stand later. It's very inconvenient, causes a ridiculous bottleneck, and demeans and insults customers. Even the clerk on duty acts as though the process is awkward - it is! I get that the store has a shoplifter problem - the only possible explanation for this new way of doing things - but to treat EVERYONE like a crook is wrong. Put in security cameras, or hire more human beings to keep an eye on inventory, but don't treat all customers as if we are criminals. read more

I can't stand Walmart but if you must go to one in Salem, this is the best one, as far as I'm concerned. I had to go pick something up last week and I was able to get in and out within 5 minutes and I didn't even know where the item was. I wouldn't dare intrust Walmart with their food so I don't know about the grocery dept. but this store isn't usually as crowded as the other ones in town and its a bit smaller, but it still has a pretty good selection. I'm just not a really big fan of Wally World but if I have to suffer, I'll go here. read more

I usually go to be one on Lancaster (yuck), and thought I'd try grocery shopping at this one to give me a break from the experience I usually have. Customers at the Lancaster location are the rudest you will find. The food selection is not good. It's small. If it were better, I would drive a long way to shop here. Last week I went into Walmart to do a little shopping and came out about 30 min later to find my car was gone!! I thought it had been stolen then I found out that Retreiver Towing took it. I was not in a handicap, loading zone or blocking anything or any one. It took half a day and almost $500 to get it back. Retreiver Towing said they are authorized to tow any car there they feel is parked wrong. When I went back to Walmart later that day an employee of Walmart was in tears because her car had been hauled off too while she was working. This is wrong to treat paying customers and employees like this! IM done shopping at Walmart and I tell everyone about how I was treated while shopping there. read more

I really endorse this store for those of you who like the small store feel. Who like to feel like they are important to all the associates that work here cause they will go out of their way to make sure that you get the help you need, if they can't help you they will find someone who can. If its a certain product you are looking for and they don't have it they will find a store that does even if its not a Walmart. The associates are always charming and smiling, they greet all that they come across, ask if they can help or just how your doing. They try to make sure that you don't stand in long lines and that your experience is a nice one and that you leave feeling like you really did matter to them all. Like you would like to return to the store in the future. I was very happy with my first experience at this store and have continually gone back there through the years. I have never had a bad experience with the store or the people that work there. I think the worst thing I have experienced is a bit of a wait at checkout cause it was very busy,yet the cashier was still cheerful and polite to me and made me feel like she truly regretted that I had to wait a bit. So I recommend this store to all that would rather have a smaller store experience then the supercenters can give,not that they are bad, just to big for me. read more
