There were all sorts of vintage glassware, crystal, dishes, shaving mugs, books, hand tools, hats, jewelry, window frames, lamps, paintings and on and on. It will take me more than one trip to see and process everything in the house. And lucky me because today - everything in the house was 25% off - everything. The Gentleman Owner is a most interesting person to meet as he shared the history of the house when I asked him when the house was built. I did make a small purchase today, but that's only because I'm still trying to process everything that I saw and what I want to purchase on my next visit. I will always value my trip to On A Shoestring Trading simply because I had the opportunity to meet the Owner. Such an experience! Some might call that "antiquing" I just call it liking to look around old, antique-y places and such. This place is no different. There's literally stuff packed in every corner of the main level, the upstairs, the somewhat basement level as well as outside in the yard. There are plenty of windows, doors, shutters and other woodworks for re-purposing if you're into that. Most are fairly priced by comparison to other places. Overall however, the store can be a bit expensive in it's pricing. Also they only take cash or checks as forms of payment so if you're headed over here, be sure to take one or the other. I have been ignored by their claims department after three months of calling and asking for help. I've been promised calls back time and time again and never got one. Today when I called again, I was finally told my claim was denied because too much time has passed. I'm not sure why I wasn't notified that it had been reviewed. I was offered a good-faith payment of $300, which is unfortunately just a fraction of what I spent replacing my damaged items. The movers were unprofessional the day of as well -- they charged me incorrectly, stood around texting half the time to drag out the clock, and then asked me if I use recreational drugs. I hate to be that person writing a nasty review, but I am extremely disappointed with their service all around and I hope this helps keep others from having the same experience that I did. My one-bedroom move went over budget, damaged family heirlooms and caused me to have to replace my entire bed and mattress... and the company's customer service chose to ignore me and hope I went away instead of helping me resolve this. Last time I moved before this I used American Eagle Moving for a much more difficult move and they were fantastic. Their guys were quick, professional, and did not cause any property damage. The same for the afternoon in Atlanta. The two young men were on time and worked extremely well. Very mannerable and spoke well. I saved over $600 renting a Penske truck and having bellhoper to load and unload. This was done in two different cities on the same day. They damaged 6 pieces of furniture (that's what I've found so far. Still unpacking), tore a leather couch and snapped a tv stand (some of the damaged furniture we are still paying for). They also left an entire room full of boxes and few pieces of furniture and told my husband they couldn't get it on the truck. My husband had no way to retrieve all of these things by the time we had to be out of the old place, so the movers asked for a tip in exchange for making an additional trip. He had no choice but to "tip" them if we wanted our things. When I called to speak with the manager (Barrett) he apologized and offered nothing to make it right. I asked to speak to the owner of the company. I was given his wife's phone number so she could let me know when he would be available to speak with. I have not heard from either of them and also now can't get in touch with Barrett. This is one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever paid for. I would never use them again.
