Ever just have a horrible experience at a Walmart where it just reinforces your displeasure for the company? Well let me tell you a tale. I came in here in hopes of picking up a few items I knew I wouldn't find elsewhere. With that, I also browsed. I found the items that I wanted and continued to shop for other things. I went from department to department, jumped into the clearance section, and just continued to browse to see if there was anything I might finally grab. After grabbing everything I needed and few things I wanted, it was off to the races. By that I mean entering the gauntlet that is the registers. This was the only Walmart that I had come to where the registers were sequestered from the rest of the store where everyone is funneled into. Then the associates that work this area yell to direct you where to go. Then they act as if you are an idiot using their machines. It's one thing to assume that people don't know how to use them, but it's another when there are mistakes made by the company. I had grabbed a Brita from the shelves in hardware because the price was too good to pass up. I doubled checked the shelves just to make sure that this just wasn't misplaced, there were several more in the area. I should have taken a picture of this as it came back to bite me later. I scanned the Brita last since it was the biggest item and wouldn't fit in the bag with the other items I grabbed. When I rang it up, the price was $20 more than listed on the shelf. I asked the associate nearest to me about it and at first she just brushed me off and indicated that I needed to pay that price. I told her that the price on the shelf was marked at $19.98. She questioned me as to where it was. I told her, hardware department, top shelf as you walk in the aisle with others of the same items right next to it. I told her the price was listed and this is where she basically called me an idiot. Her words, "The price tag is beneath the item, not on top of it." I looked her dead in the eye and said, "You don't say, this is especially true if the item is on the top shelf." Then she said I needed to pay full price. I then reiterated that there were more than one of the same exact item in the same spot. She kind of stood there and thought that if she stared me down I would shut up, buy the item, and leave the store. Then when I hit her with the fact that I used to work for Walmart some years ago she backed down. She then took off to the hardware department to check the item. I should have known something was up for as long as it took her to come back, and this is where I realized I should have taken a picture while I was there, but with full hands it was hard to do. She came back with a picture of the shelf, where she obviously moved the items around. The shelf was perfectly zoned with the items moved around to different locations. She felt so proud to have showed me that picture. Like a toddler thinking they won a fight. Then she told me that she could only give me 10% off, as if to placate me to get me out of the store. I told her to get it off my transaction so I could get out of there. She did, all while her coworker looked on as if to be her backup. What's even worse was after I had finished up and paid and was walking out she was at the customer service desk gloating what she just did. Horrible people equals a horrible experience. Then to do their survey is even worse. They make one attempt to contact you and never follow up. read more

Sadly, this Walmart in California, MD is the worst that I have ever seen. The one in Dahlgren, VA is much better, I live in Saint Mary's Co. Maryland, so this is the closest WM to me. The shelves are often short of products. The workers are very helpful, but the store is poorly managed. If WM does not do better, they will continue to lost maket to Amazon and other retailers. read more

I was staying at a janky little hotel down the street from here. Their breakfast options for me were dry toast and juice (I'm vegan, so can't have all the dairy and egg and meat options they were serving). Ran in to grab a few things that I could microwave. The initial interaction with the door person was bad. She has this stank attitude. I forgot my shopping cart. I'm not trying to harvest your organs to sell on the open market. Calm it down. You're checking receipts at the Walmart. A simple? "Hey, that one way entry thing is going to scream at you. All you gotta do is go a few feet down and go around." Nah. Instead I get this death glare and a snotty little comment. Whatever. But literally every other staff member is over the moon nice and friendly. Shelves are neatly arranged, and aisles are kept clean and sparkling. Requests for help are met with enthusiasm to get you to the product you need. Items are restocked unobtrusively and quickly. When it's time to leave, there are plenty of cashiers to ring out your purchases. Cashiers are efficient and quick, while still genuinely smiling and asking how you're doing. Since kindness is free, the cashiers here have chosen to give you as much as they can muster. It just made the whole interaction lovely. Y'all are superstars, and deserve the love that the customers were giving you while I waited on line. Absolute legends. read more

We never really have a problem coming into the store but today when I came home, I opened one of the pico de gaos that I purchased and one of them had mold in it. I don't know what you guys are doing but for some reason some of your employees are not checking the produce. It looked like ting mushrooms growing on the pico de gao. Please fix that because I don't want to come back and see that again on anything. read more

I went in with my grandson to exchange a bike, for a bigger size & more expensive, that was purchased at this store. I did not have the receipt. The bike had never been ridden. I was told this was fine the day before by a manager. The manager on duty, Judy said they didn't do that, they don't exchange gifts. When I persisted and asked for a better explanation, she said she would do it, "This one time" but felt the need to lecture me. Her tone & attitude and the tone & attitude of the lady working the exchange counter gave me the feeling that they thought I was doing something shady. My wife picked up a dozen golf balls for me. She made sure they were the brand I play, in yellow. When I opened the box, someone (I suspect an employee) had taken the time to empty all four sleeves and replace the balls in each sleeve with three cheap Wilson balls. We no longer had the receipt, but customer service did give us an exchange, which I appreciate. The bad news is this is the SECOND time this has happened to me. My bad for not checking. read more

While try to acquire fishing licenses for the area we stood at the sporting goods counter for 15minutes. Then an employee came into view a few isles down. After asking her politely for assistance with sporting goods, her slack jawed bovine expression indicated that she did not comprehend either assistance or sporting goods. After composing herself she whispered "but he was just there". Then she looked off into the distance and moaned "Dooooug"? As if it were a question. This is by far the most chaotic, unorganized and unstocked Walmart I've ever been to. There are empty shelves everywhere, staff mentioned they are behind in unloading trucks..... There was a guy hanging back to school promotional signing from the ceiling during a peak time (5pm) at the entrance of the store. Causing a traffic jam at the entrance because we now have to go around him and head in the direction the exiting customers are exiting. There a feeling of this place being understaffed. They have 2 express lanes open besides self checkout. It's pure chaos, lines weaving through there promotion stack flats up front and at some points takes a turn into the clothing department. read more

My second shopping spree in 2 weeks ended with a 47 minute wait to checkout. My first attempt left me in line for 20 minutes before I simply left a cart full of product and walked out. There are 30 cash registers, and only 4 of them were open 6 -15-18. Lines were extremely long and all of us were discussing how awful it was to shop at the store lately. Someone has taken their hands off managing this location. Long lines and one employee clocked out and strolled right past all of us without a single concern. Managers were nowhere to be found. In contrast shopping at the Red Bullseye store, lots of cashiers, clean stores, product availability was superb. In and out in minutes. I paid more for a vacuum from the other store VS. waiting in line at Wal-Mart for less money. Time is money. You're already getting my money. You're not going to get my time anymore California Store. I will not be back. What;s this business where you get my money but now you want me to work and ring myself out. No thanks. Lets get the corporate headquarters involved here. Something is amiss with leadership at this location. Half the vacuum inventory was missing. Trash cans for sale were missing lids, or broken. It's Walmart, the prices are good but the clientele and customer service are not. Be prepared for rude people who can't control their children and the worst customer service you'll ever experience. I personally only shop Walmart To Go now and have had a slightly better experience except they've forgotten things in my order twice but charged me for it. I've also gotten moldy produce from this location as well. So if you like the prices but hate the shopping experience, do yourself a favor and shop to go! read more

Normal walmart selection. Super slow customer service, no matter what time of day. Even when just picking up an order you have to walk all the way to the the rear of the store, so it takes just as long as finding items yourself. If I could give this store 0 stars I would. I went into get an item I found on Walmart.com but the price was lower. So after researching the price match policies for Walmart, I was assured that they would price match to Walmart.com. When I went in to get the item, I attempted to speak with the manager on duty she was extremely rude and would even listen to me. She scanned the item and told me it was 13.44 in her store. I then explained the price match to Walmart.com and she kept stating that it wasn't her stores price. So apparently they don't price match at all. I agree with other negative comments about non-helpful and sometimes rude employees. And messed up shelves. Check the sell by dates on any food items you buy here. But the most frustrating thing you will experience is the long wait times to check out. The convenience you might think you'll get by getting everything in one place will be cancelled out after you wait in long, slow lines. My last visit was 40 minutes spent in line. It's not an ocassional problem. Save yourself the time and go to 3 different stores instead. Or chance it but take a look at the lines and turn around and go somewhere else if they look long that day. This is easily one of the worst Wal-Mart's I have been to. Only surpassed by one in another state that has since been torn down. I like other Wal-Mart stores but the service has soured me on this one. read more

Every time I order my groceries at Walmart Grocery I get bad and old vegetables and fruit. When I call their 800 number to get refunded they refused and then have the nerve to tell me to take it back to the store in order to get refunded. They think I live around the corner, it takes me 45 minutes one way to get to the store. I posted the pictures of the old and molded vegetables and fruit. Horrible. This Walmart has really gone down hill. Where is your registry machine? When I purchased my items from a registry there is no way to mark the item off. I did a self checkout because the lines were ridiculous -long lines at Walmart aren't unusual but these lines weren't moving. I have 3 Walmarts within 10 minutes of my house and they are more busy than this one. There is no excuse for the show service at this location. Back to the registry, I tried to mark the items off on my Walmart app and the Walmart website. Target's registry allows you to mark the item as purchased on their website. Walmart, maybe you should look into that since you removed the machine from this particular store. Get better. read more

I have been trying for over a month to get Great Value Coffee Creamer, Sugar Free, French Vanilla, 13.6 fl oz or Great Value Coffee Creamer, Sugar Free Hazel Nut and all the Walmart Stores within 100 mile raduis is out of stock. In fact all Great Value Powdered Coffee Creamer is sold out. On the on line store also. What is going on with Walmart. Called the California, Md store and was told it was in stock. Drove over there from Prince Frederick and guess what they had none. But was told a shipment was coming in the next day...That didnt happen either. I am so fed up with Walmart. The only reason I gave it 3-stars was because of Taylor she was great. She took me in her check out even though her light was off. I had 1-item. I stopped in to pick up just 3-things which I've been in the store 4 times this week looking for. I know they carry it because the sticker price where there. A lot of the shelves where empty. My Wal-Mart has 3 deliveries a week. I live in a small town too. The store could use a good cleaning. Some of their products on the shelves where dusty. But I guess this is the price you pay for cheaper prices. They have a nail salon not sure if I'd use it , it also look dirty too. The hair salon also looked like it could use a good cleaning. But the associates where all nice. Had to go back on a Sunday & the lines where horrible 5-7 ppl deep kids yelling & crying because they where waiting so long in line. The cashier I had was just soooo slow & he seemed confused on how to bag my things. He put cleaning products in with fresh vegetables. I also went to look for my dog food they where out of on Monday & they still where out of it. I'm glad I plan ahead or my poor puppy would have starved to death. Went to the store Tuesday to purchase a bike for my daughter. Bike was not built but they had several in the back in boxes that would be built. I was informed to go on there app and order it so I could get it the next day. Super! I went and ordered the bike and in doing so, I was given two options, 1. NEXT DAY pick up in store, 2. FREE delivery by Friday (May 31st, 2019). I did NEXT DAY. Get a confirmation email that the bike would be ready Tuesday. Tuesday comes, get several emails, 1. your order will be ready after 1pm, 2. your order will be ready before 4pm, 3. your order will be ready after 6pm, 4. your order will be ready before 8pm, 5th and last email; Your order will not be ready till June 1, after 6pm!!! WTF! I called and because they don't know how to manage their system, my daughter is now going to have to wait till Saturday! So I called the Prince Frederick store, they have one available, cool. I ask can you hold it and I'll be there later today to get it, told yes. Great. Call Walmart to see about canceling my order so I can go get this bike, NOPE. Your order has been fulfilled by ONLINE ORDER since we didn't have the item in Stock it gets placed in online order automatically and it has already been processed and will be ready June 1 after 6pm. Screw Walmart and their crappy computer systems. Talk about being pissed. My advice, DO NOT ORDER CRAP FROM WALMART! read more

Place is horribly stocked, only have 3 registers open even when the store is constantly busy. I don't understand how they took the time to build so many self checkouts instead of using actual employees on the registers especially since the self checkout machines are horrible especially if you have a cart full of stuff. This place brings a whole new meaning to LOW. Was in yesterday and as I walked through the doors, there was a very rude announcement over the intercom for representatives from each department to put away their returns. A few minutes later, an even mor rude comment come over the loudspeaker again. Just short of vulgarity. The shelves were almost empty, the floor was sticky, and the store smelled like spoiled milk. All the self checkout lanes were open-I never use these- there were two 20 item or less lanes open, and one checkout lane. That just happened to be the rude person that was on the intercom earlier. The poor customer in front of me made a few comments about the announcement and after a few words-customer never crossed the line of being red faced and pissed off, unlike the cashier, was soon escorted from the store. This is a below average wal-mart. Not sure what to expect but this is always chaos. Shelves are never organized. A 40 dollar basketball is in the 10 dollar spot. The clientele as this wal-mart always seems to be incredibly rude. This store is the absolute worst. Saturday morning, 7 am and the only register open is express. The employee at register 19 tells me that register 4 and 6 will open when employees come in! What did I miss? Then an employee named Clara casually strolls around saying "don't expect me to hurry and open". Seriously? Where is the customer service? There is hardly any meat on the shelves. This will be my last "grocery" trip to this store. It is sad that these employees are in no hurry to assist customers. Management needs an overhaul. read more

Walmart isn't always known for having the best service or organization, however I had a decent experience. I ordered online and picked up in store, which was flawless. Shopping around the store afterwards was difficult. Couldn't find many employees around and when I did they never knew where to go to find the items I wanted. Checkout was long as well, I expected some lines, but when the line is short (2 people in front) and you're waiting for 15+ minutes it's not acceptable. This morning I was trying to call and have someone pull 2 Brother toners. The website says that it is in stock but we are sending an employee, so I wanted to have it pulled when he got there. I tried calling electronics but no answer, so I tried customer service and got the same thing. I find it hard to believe that it is so busy at 9am on a Tuesday morning, that there is no one to answer the phone at either location at the store. Typical for this location. They have the absolute WORST customer service around.
