Why the two GALS that closed Walmart tonight at the self checkout tonight is July 11, 2026. I don't know why they even working in customer service... it's literally 45 minutes before the store is about to close and The way they look at people who walk in, you would think they killed their Granny. Then they remind us at least 50 times over the loudspeaker that the self checkouts closed and all registers closed at 11 on the dot so we better hurry up. Not only that but they watch you the whole time you're picking things out and they sit there and talk crap about you and laugh at you. I literally heard them call me insane because I was trying to figure out what birthday present to get my sister last minute. I work all day so most of the time nighttime is the only time that I can go grocery shopping or any kind of shopping for that matter. Yes, it sucks, but I also have to deal with customers coming in last minute and not only do I want to go home but I still have to do my job with a smile and give them good customer service. That is the whole point of your job. To make customers want to come back.. When I walked up to self check out they literally said "and then she put most of the stuff back that she picked up in the first place anyways" while the other girl said "it's called insanity" and started giggling.. Anyways, I don't think that they need to work here. I think they need to go somewhere and work behind a desk or somewhere they don't have to interact with humans in general because these girls are not pleasant looking, pleasant acting, and clearly don't like working. I never thought I'd be giving this Walmart a good review. This used to be the last place I wanted to go but over the last couple of years they have really transformed the place and deserve the good review. Everything is now clean and stocked. Really pleasant experience with curbside pickup. Waited maybe ~2 min for a staff member to come out with my order. I was doing an DIY-project with barstool cushions and was able to get all my supplies at Walmart, for a good price (yay Black Friday deals!). Was trying to make a return of printer ink. Waited in Customer service line they sent me to electronics. Had to wait for help and the guy couldn't help l. He had to make 4 announcement over the PA system just for someone to tell us they couldn't return it because the box was opened. Waited 30 minutes for a no ... not sure why customer service couldn't tell me that if the policy is so cut and dry. Would have also appreciated a warning when purchasing that once the box is opened they can't return it. This store is always a nightmare it's worth a longer drive to not shop here. read more

This Wal-Mart is my go-to for many items, but like others have said, I do dread the crowds and parking lot. They always have what I'm looking for and many times I find things I didn't know I needed. Hardly ever do I leave without at least one extra item not on my list. It sucks you in. But I guess I secretly enjoy ambling around the aisles killing time sometimes. I must say that I find their produce section pretty well stocked and usually very fresh. Prices are better than any grocery store on the island, too. Don't expect to find anything special, but they cover the basics. I find the layout a little confusing at times and end up walking down the same aisles multiple times. That's probably more because I don't frequent this area enough to get familiar with it. They always have a small selection of seasonal clothing upfront. T-shirts for the next holiday abound. And cheap! All the way to the left when you enter (toward lawn and garden) always has seasonal items too. Halloween costumes, candy for whatever holiday, themed gifts galore. Bathing suits and work-out clothes are also cheap and abundant. Toiletries and paper products should be bought here as well. I will continue to patronize this store for many household items mainly due to the prices, even though it can be crowded. read more

Y'all I'm almost ashamed to say but this is literally my corner store as I live right down the street from it. There is a lot I love about Walmart like the selection and rock bottom prices. What I dont love about it is its always packed with people, seriously lacking product, understaffed with long checkout lines and only 2-3 registers open at any point in time. I go at 6am on a Monday, 9pm on a Sunday, 12noon on a Saturday and it doesn't matter as its always destroyed. I love that they have organic veggies and really do buy a lot from there. Their broccoli is always fresh as is the rest of their produce. I would say we get 75% of our groceries from this Walmart. On my most recent visit (again I'm here like 5 times a week) it was another display of how they cant keep the shelves stocked. I don't know if their supply chain management is seriously lacking or they just don't have enough stock people but either way its always disappointing. The Organic produce had been ravaged and it looked like Harambe's relatives had been let loose in the banana section. I wish they could dial in this store but they cant seem to get it right. Compared to the other area Walmarts is where I draw the line and give it a 2 stars. West Ashley's Walmart is awesome as is the one by Tanger but this one on the other hand is their stepsister who gets no love. Please give some attention to this store Walmart it really needs it and you have dedicated people like me who will continue to give you business but just ask you get it together and make the experience more pleasant. read more

I found a blender the I liked for $79 per the display and when we rang it up it said $99. We complained but the manager would not correct the issue. I've tried to do curbside pickups at this store several times. Each time there's multiple items missing from my order or it's canceled. I waited two full years before trying again today. The app let me add close to $300 worth of groceries and then when I go to pick a time, I get a message that 81 of those items are out of stock. Yes, you read that correctly. 81 items. This WalMart is no super WalMart; if anything it is a medium sized WalMart. They carry a very limited selection of items; their grocery department has an awful selection of produce and what they have isn't the freshest of produce, they run out of bottled water all the time, their meat and bakery departments are limited, they have a very small sporting goods and automotive department, and their electronics department does not carry the latest music and movie releases. So if anything, this is just a WalMart and not super at all. Even though the selections here are limited that isn't my biggest complaints. My 2 biggest complaints with this WalMart location are: 1. They never pick up the buggies in the parking lot, I constantly find myself dodging buggies when driving through the parking lot or not being able to park in a parking space since it is filled with buggies. They need to be more proactive about sending stockers out to pick them up and bring them in. 2. They have a long line of cash registers, but only 1 to 3 are ever open creating lines of people waiting to check out. If they can't hire more cashiers, they could at least get four self checkouts to make the process of getting out of the store a little easier. With all that said, there is one shining light with this WalMart and that is the employees here. They work hard and they treat the customers right. They are always happy to help you find what you are looking for; I've even had them ask if I needed help before I had a chance to ask them. read more

Walmart is.. well, it's not the best. We all know what it is- and sometimes it is too convenient to stop here and not have to trek out further away. The Walmart on JI manages to ALWAYS be busy. I don't understand how a store that is open 24 hours a day can always be jamming, but this one is a popular destination! Coming here in the middle of summer? Good luck, my friend. Be prepared to walk half a mile from the back of the parking lot! Customer service here is not the best. Sometimes you'll run into someone who is helpful and will at least attempt to help you find something. Most of the employees don't seem to know where anything is and will slink away from you at the first chance. I get it, but it can be irritating to be on your own in this gigantic warehouse store looking for something specific! Ultimately, it's convenient, which is why I come here. I am grateful to have it, as it saves me from having to go far off the island often enough. Check out tip- be sure to check your bag carousel that you have everything! If your cashier is not diligent and you aren't paying close attention, you can easily leave something behind. It is massive and has a ton of product. The parking lot is several football fields wide, which is necessary considering how busy it is here at all times. The self checkout scanner was disgusting and had some kind of film in it probably from meat juices leaking. I asked the attendant if they had something to clean it off willing to do it myself. They said no which I thought most stores had to have that since Covid. The staff was not friendly and they were using profanity in front of the customers as if we were not even there. Love this Walmart Supercenter in James Island. It has everything you could want food wise, supply wise, pharmacy wise, and just about everything else you need to get by. It is also has free parking if you need to store your vehicle for a few days in a safe place. Very helpful staff at this Walmart. It is always clean and fast in and out. read more

Walmart is a convenience store. What's not convenient is the lack of expertise or care by upper management to make sure there are enough people being taken care of in a timely fashion. When there are 12 people in line @ the customer service desk and one person working, expect me to call you on the jack and tell you how to do your job. Suddenly, two annoyed employees come over to help the 12 deep. What? Annoyed you have to work and get people served in a timely fashion? Can you say, "retraining?" Other than that the store caters to whatever you may need and will be hit or miss on in stock product. There isn't the option to review just the vision center so I'm doing the review here.... I have a current glasses prescription FROM WALMART yet the employee working the vision center today was beyond rude and unhelpful. I wanted to order glasses online, but I need my PD measured and it isn't shown on my prescription. I asked if she could measure it for me (takes two seconds with their little machine) and she immediately said no. I'm sure they have it in their system too and she still said no... she said no so quickly it was as if she was just DYING to inconvenience me. My go to place for shopping for groceries, yes I like Publixs but the prices of their meat is amazing! Hard to beat. The staff has always been nice to me and I recognize some of the bakery folks who used to work for Piggly Wiggly. Their prices on cereals, and caned goods are great as well. You know...it's a Wal-Mart. As far as Wal-Marts go, this one's a nice one. It's usually not too crowded and has a decent selection in all departments. They added the grocery section a few years back, which is nice. This is the best place to get frozen items at the best price (e.g. Healthy Choices, Lean Cuisines, frozen pizzas). Their bakery also has some cool items, and they have a big produce section. I'm still a little skeptical of their meat section...I usually stick to a traditional grocery store for that. They have lots of aisles, but usually only three open (in typical Wally World fashion), but they do have the choose-your-own-adventure self-checkout machines, which may make your visit a little quicker. All in all, it's a nice-to-have on James Island for those odds and ends you need from time-to-time. read more
