I only stop at this Walmart if I'm in West Ashley heading home. My issues with this location is it feels dirty and unsafe. I tried to Google and find out how old it is, but nothing was listed. According to the first Yelp review it's at least 14. You can tell it has had very few upgrades over the years. The carts are disgusting. They also only provide you with paper bags. They'll double bag in order to jam it so full you can barely lift it. I definitely avoid this Walmart but use it when necessary. In and out as quickly as the checkout line will allow me. read more

I love that this Walmart has palm trees out front! Besides the exterior aesthetic, the store interior is always clean and tidy when I've ventured inside. I typically do a delivery or pickup order and haven't had any issues to date. This is my favorite location in the area. read more

Wish was a -star! D0 use the call and pick up service. Unless you want to sit there for 45 mins to an hour. Then not to get what you want delivered to your car. Then you have to talk to an A.I. not a person that does nothing for you. Try and get your money back for the product you didn't get good luck on that. Just wasted half hour trying to add my card to do the app payment because it wouldn't accept my Apple Pay, but it wasn't accepting any of my cards. Then when I paid cash there wasn't even any change in the machine. Half of my stuff had to be canceled because the associate said I can only use the card now. For the most part the employees are pretty helpful at this store. So we ordered from the store,and I picked it up Monday December 1st. We received two items that were not ours. We have been at the motel from out of town for over a month. Both of us disabled. They bring the food right into our room for us. They pack the bags lighter so I can lift them. And even put the drinks of juice and water bottles up so I wouldn't hurt myself. We have used them ever 3-4 days for the last month and have always had a great experience. read more

This Walmart is usually stocked a little better than some other Walmarts I've been to lately. I went here yesterday for a few groceries and I was actually able to get everything I came for. The biggest issue I see with this location is that like other Walmarts they only have one regular lane open and the self checkout line is crazy long because it's the only option. Where to begin? This is easily the worst wal-mart I've ever walked into. Prices aren't marked throughout home decor and toy sections, inventory is always stacked in aisles, men's clothing also has prices missing on everything and clothes can typically be seen on the floor. I ordered via the App and selected curbside pickup. I thought it would be quicker than going into the store (usually a line). I waited for ~20 min in curbside pickup. Walmart could do better to communicate how long of a wait. I was stuck between - do I go in or stay waiting? But there was no way to eliminate curbside pickup in the app, once you selected. Would be great to know if the staff is busy and what the quicker option is. Take note, Walmart - help your staff! read more

Stand-alone location in West Ashley; nothing next to it. They have a gas center across the parking lot. New Harris Teeter opening soon across the street. Inside was pretty clean; store fairly busy on Sunday. This location was out of many items; they needed to restock. Couldn't find some items; was like a game of Where's Waldo, and Walmart won. Auto Center did a nice job installing new tires, but it did take longer than expected, especially after pulling my vehicle in immediately. $22 per tire for mounting (if tires bought from them) and lifetime tire rotation and balancing. The McDonalds inside Walmart was very busy, but food came out quickly. Burger patty was very salty though. Fries good as always. Overall store was good, but gave them low marks because so many items weren't in stock and I left with more items on my shopping list than ones I was able to purchase. read more

I actually kind of dig this WalMart store location. I guess because it's got a nice parking lot and you can enter from a less crowded side road. The 2 employees I interacted with in the store were both really nice; so that's different from other locations. And another thing that set it apart were there weren't buggies all over the parking lot taking up parking spots like at other locations. Inside is pretty typical WalMart merchandise and they have 100 registers with only 2 open like other stores. read more

Like all the Walmarts I've shopped in, you come to expect certain truths, most all of which are beneficial to the consumer. Prices are low which is a good thing for value concience shoppers, quality tends to be on the lower end. The Remington ammo they sell was really the dirtiest I've sent down range. The windshield wiper was sold as a single unit and already is showing not just wear, but the rubber is pulling a bit off the metal. Am I going to return either of these items? No, I am not. But somehow at sometime I the not so distant future, I'll make my way back again and buy more stuff that'll inevitably disappoint. On the bright side, I've never had anything but a helpful and pleasant customer service experience in any of their stores, I just feel a bit like a tool shopping here. read more

Four stars for a Walmart store? Why not? Walmart in general gets a bad rap, but the West Ashley Walmart is my favorite Walmart in Charleston. It's located conveniently near my home and also near everyone else on Bees Ferry, and we're glad they are out here (because not much else is out here). The store has very large aisles, is usually clean for a big-box store, and has everything I need without having to brave traffic. It may not be a wonderful shopping experience every time I go, but I can buy everything from apples to air conditioning filters in one stop. Walmart has a ton of self-checkouts, and this is what I typically use. Not all of the self-checkouts take cash, so I always pay with a card. You can also use a coupon at the self-checkout machine. Plus, Walmart has wi-fi and a new grocery pick up service. Like every Walmart, the store can get crowded, especially on weekends or around holidays. Typically the only long waits I've had lately were at the customer service desk, which always seems to be understaffed. The best time to go to this Walmart is early in the morning or around lunchtime on a weekday. I'm always able to get in and out quickly. read more

The assistant manager or overseer (brown skin woman, mid-late 20s, long weave with bangs, slim, with cheetah sneakers, wood chuck eyelashes, and long pointy acrylic nails accented by fake diamond rings) will try to accuse you of stealing to avoid giving you, your rightful refund (a store credit). She tried to get other employees to gang up on me and my elderly mother in hopes of trying to prove herself right (one of her sycophants: short stout, dark skin woman with updo braids, more so early 30s with a facial piercing - Uzo Aduba look alike). So immature and unprofessional, she mocked my hair cut on the side with another employee (a 2nd female employee, not Uzo) afterwards when realized she was wrong and owed me a refund. HR, their pictures are attached below for you handle them before the holidays. Such embarrassments of "women." Such embarrassments to their families, friends, associates, co-workers, and the great company, Walmart. But thanks for finally giving me my refund. My family and I have aways been honest customers of the West Ashley Walmart for the last 12+ years. Which can be attested to by other store associates who have seen my family countless times buying items over the years. You two clowns just arrived at this store (McMichael wannabes, I'm not Ahmaud). Hard day to review them on as I was only in for a few. Needed a new charger cord forge phone and was able to easily find and get checked out. If I needed assistance it was nearby and everyone seemed none the worse for the ice and snow we just had. There was still a lot of ice out front and customers need to slow down in cross walks! Every time I order from this store via the Walmart website for a delivery, they screw up the orderor the delivery driver cancels mid-trip, and since the order isn't complete, the store has to intervene to refund me...the trouble is THEY NEVER EVER ANSWER THE PHONE! Lived around this area for about a year and every time I go in here for a random item I don't want to wait for Amazon shipping/ go to Lowe's/ etc, the store looks like the apocalypse... items thrown in the isles, store staff doing the same task over and over (an associate was placing spray cans in and out of the same shelf... literally the same can... he was trying to make it look like he was working). Additionally another employee was clearly re-stocking the wrong item from a cart that appeared to be used items/ damaged items. Stock is always low/ damaged, maybe a single checkout lane open with the most burnt out employee going as slow as possible. Oh and the parking lot... Desolate, filled with trash, and poorly lit, I'd stick to the lanes used more often to avoid nails/ trash, but at your own risk... have seen two accidents in the parking lot. One was a hit and run after she backed into a bumper, another was a I'll leave my insurance and run type maneuver. TLDR: Central management, you desperately need to come and site review this store. It's the worst I've ever seen and that's low for Walmart. read more

Worst Walmart I have ever been to! For starters, there were no shopping carts available inside the store but plenty scattered about in the parking lot. Shelves were barely stocked with essentials, and today the checkout lines (both the regular and self-checkout) had lines extending into the aisles. read more

It's Walmart. Nothing special but the West Ashley store is newly renovated which is nice. It was a pain because many grocery items have moved around but the place looks much nicer. I often use grocery pick up which is amazing! Order groceries online (minimum of $30)..show up at the allotted time and they bring you the groceries! The Auto Center in the West Ashley Walmart is TERRIBLE!!!!! All their staff takes a 1.5 hour lunch break and their is no one in the auto center!!! And, there is no sign or info that tells the customers that...so I waited and hour and a half just to get my car checked in so that they could start the work. One star for the one employee who attempted to help me. I asked another employee twice for help and she was unable to follow through. I waited 20 mins for someone to unlocked the spray paint and after that unloaded my cart - walking out. With nothing, no management, no service. For a Walmart, this is a 4 star Walmart. They have a wide selection of items and do a pretty good job of re-stocking. This was one of the few places in the Lowcountry where I could find hand sanitizer during the COVID-19 quarantine. Employees have been helpful here. read more

This location is really rough. It always looks like it's been looted after a hurricane on a daily basis. For a new location it's pretty bad. They also just got rid of all human cashiers so that has been pleasant. I decided to place an online grocery pickup. The phone number doesn't work but after a while I was greeted by a young man that told me that I'd be waiting here a while for my order. YIKES. This is a mess. I pulled in this spot over 30 minutes ago and other people who got here before me are still waiting. I think they need more staff. read more

While I stop here often for groceries, I had the unfortunate flat tire and stopped here on a whim hoping it could be patched while I shopped. The really unfortunate part was that it was punctured all the way through and I should have come in sooner instead of just refilling with air because by the time I cane in, I had worn down the sides more than patching would allow. I had to buy a new tire and the process took a couple hours but the new tire was only around $80 and the same size tire at Gerald's 8 months ago was over $100. read more

I order off the app, do grocery pick up and shop in person and always have a good experience. The app delivery is my favorite, sometimes having stuff delivered in the same day. With the tough year we have had I understand some things are out of our control. I like the Walmart Supercenter in West Ashley and it is one of my favorite Walmarts in the Charleston area. This Walmart is very large and has just about everything you could need all under one roof which is great when you want to just stop once and not go to multiple places. I really like the design of this Walmart as it looks cool on the outside with a tower like structure that gives a little more coolness than the typical box store feel. This store always seems to be clean and well maintained and this important to me in a Walmart. There is also a quick and efficient checkout process that has enough self checkouts and people checkouts to keep the lines moving and allow you to leave and purchase all of your items fast. read more

The only Walmart in the West Ashley area that I know of, it services folks all the way in Ravenel and Hollywood, and probably even further. This Walmart does have a high selection, and is convenient with the fuel station and being 24 hours, but it has the cashier plague like most Walmarts. 132 lanes... only 3 cashiers. The store is fairly clean on the surface, but always seems cluttered and disorganized in the aisles. The Grocery side is much more "neater" than the health and beauty side. Location is a convenience. Consistency of their stocked shelves, not so much. It's a 24 hour store, so they have time to stock, so I'll blame it on the bad weather we've had lately and not the lack of preplanning that goes in to merchandising.
