Heads up--it gets PACKED on weekends and sometimes even runs out of goodies, so come early. We tried the German chocolate bun and OMG--it was insane. Perfectly buttery, toasted almonds, and rich dark chocolate--it might be the best pastry I've ever had. The Butter Me Up breakfast sandwich was huge and so shareable, packed with bacon, avocado, and egg on a crumbly, buttery biscuit--pure breakfast heaven. To drink, the turmeric chai latte was hot, comforting, and refreshing all at once. Did a 10mi morning run from Mt Pleasant to dt Charleston. Stopped near this cafe so decided to have a breakfast there. At 9am there was already a short line outside the entrace of it. I waited for ~15min to order my food. The cafe had lots of pastries and I got a big slice of Wholy City Quiche. But sadly they did not have side of bread!! That's ridciculous, especially considering that they have avo toast on the menu. So I got a bottle of orange juice instead. Then, to disappoint me again, there was no Wifi! I was also told that "reheating the quiche requires ~15min". Ridiculously slow. Maybe the oven had not enough space? Luckily the quiche itself was very good. This vegetarian dish was loaded with eggs, sweet potatoes, spinach, corns, sliced zucchini and some cheese in a Rye crust. We got pretty delicious drinks from here (a lavender espresso one and something matcha). I had a cookie bar I enjoyed but my husband thought it was not great. It was very sweet but it was good. Awesome little bakery with coffee and savory bites. I got the breakfast sandwich delicious biscuit, eggs were wonderfully seasoned with an Herby taste. We also got the German chocolate roll, which is really good and I'm not a huge fan of coconut, but I still liked it a lot. The coffees were great. My only complaint was my wife's pimento bacon biscuit wasn't exactly what we were expecting. Being in the south when you see a pimento bacon biscuit you're expecting a biscuit sandwich with bacon and pimento cheese. What was given was just allright. Great latte + great food I arrived around noon and they were sold out of the biscuit sandwich I wanted, which lets you know how delicious their food is. You order as soon as you come. If dining it, find a seat, place your table top # down and they'll bring your food. Listen for your name to pick up your coffee. Grab your own water from the counter, they don't bring it. Had to try one of the most prominent coffee spots in Charleston. Got there around 10:30 and the line was out the door but it only took about 10 minutes to get through. Inside was super cute. Really old place with charm. Decent amount of seating but fills up fast. They sold really cute stickers at checkout. They had specialty fall drinks but I didn't see until after I ordered. I wish they had it on the menu so I could've known because I definitely would've ordered. I got the honey maple iced latte and my mom got the vanilla spiced latte. We also ordered the ricotta biscuit with honey butter and pear compote. We waited quite a while but it was reasonable considering the amount of people there. The coffee was excellent and definitely the best I had of all the coffee shops I tried in Charleston. They really focus on the quality of the coffee. The biscuit was marginal at best. I felt it was very dry. I was somewhat disappointed because I had heard great things about the baked goods here. The honey butter and pear compote were great, though. Crazy wait for a breakfast sandwich at this breakfast cafe. We ended up skipping the sandwich and trying different items on the menu that were more accessible because 30 mins seemed ridiculous to warm up a biscuit and put the other ingredients on. And this after a 20 mins seemed ridiculous wait in line to order. It was a special weekend in the city so we understood the busyness but the lack of preparedness seems like something they should be aware of. Anyway, beyond that... the food was good. This was my first stop in Charleston. It did NOT disappoint. It was highly rated and talked about by friends that had been to the city before. Oh my goodness! This easily has become my new favorite coffee shop. The treats are delicious! The coffee is great. In two days, we've tried the maple latte, an Americano, and an iced matcha. Every one was delicious. The inside is precious. Everything is well thought out and planned with the space. It is a little cramped and can be a little loud, but it's worth it. We had high hopes for brunch last weekend but were a bit disappointed. They have reduced their already limited vegan options, so I opted for a dish that had sweet potato soufflé and granola. In order to make it vegan, they substituted the yogurt with Almond milk. When I ordered, I assumed they meant almond milk yogurt so it was a bit odd to add plain milk in terms of the thickness and texture. The dish was also very small, although it was tasty. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich, which seemed to be popular with other diners, as well. However, everyone was finding that the biscuit was a bit too dry and crumbly and the sandwich would not hold together. Lots of folks were struggling to eat it as a sandwich. My husband had ordered bacon on his, and they left it off, so he had to wait even longer to receive the correct meal. In spite of its small size, the atmosphere is comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Expect a long wait if you are there on a weekend morning. It can be difficult to find a seat. Today we chose the staple Harken breakfast biscuit and it was good but a lot of biscuit. Once you manage to squeeze this biscuit down it's best not to release your grip or you lose all integrity. Harken is very well decorated and beautifully designed. The menu is really fun and unique. The pastry case is fresh everyday. My favorite is their lunch sandwich of the day and salad options which are made daily and super fresh! It is becoming more popular and very busy over the past year. It is a common spot for tourists and most days there is a line out the door. Be prepared to wait. The coffee is just ok and the drinks could be improved. The chai tea latte I had recently was all milk. I do not like the taste of their coffee but they do have plenty of other options such as tea. read more

The food here is excellent. We had a bowl (brocolli, pasta and other goodies), the sandwich of the day, quiche and ice tea. The food is worthy of five stars. The ambiance is also exceptional - set in a cute, historic setting. The issue is the service has an edge. On the quiche, they came out of the kitchen and said our name, but the server gave it to another person. We said to the server that it was our order, but were dismissed with "there are probably two people with your name". After 15 minutes we went up front and politely asked if our order was going to come out and said we think it was given to the wrong person, but rather than listening, we were told quiche takes 15 minutes. It was all a little dismissive, and almost heavy handed. They figured it out five minutes later and came out and apologized and gave us a free cookie, but rarely have I gone to a place with such good food and setting and have service that seems tone deaf. They should be getting five stars, but hopefully they will get better. read more
