It's a brand new Walmart. Very clean. Parking is a bit hectic until they finish. Other wise everything is exactly like all other Walmarts

In an era where customer service should be a priority, it seems Walmart has completely missed the mark. On 12/28/25, I visited the Chesapeake, VA 23322 location after discovering a bulge on the sidewall of a tire I purchased there just a year ago. The sales associate I spoke with was polite and genuinely tried to help, but he wasn't able to resolve the warranty issue on his own. He went to the service manager for assistance, only to be told that the manager--Philip-- "could not be bothered" because he was on his lunch break. For someone in a leadership role, Philip demonstrated a clear lack of understanding of what it means to manage, support a team, or represent a brand. If you have the wrong people in leadership, the customer experience will always suffer. I even left my contact information, though I wasn't surprised when Philip never followed up. In the end, I took my business to a competitor and purchased a new tire there without any hassle. I realize my single experience may not matter to a corporation as large as Walmart, but these repeated failures in customer service eventually impact the bottom line. For anyone considering this location, I strongly recommend steering clear--especially the Chesapeake 23322 store, where Philip, the "I can't be bothered during my lunch break" manager, sets the tone. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR AUTOMOTIVE CENTER... We took our car there for an oil change and we received the car back with a broken door handle. When we reported it they denied all our claims due to a lack of evidence. We proceeded to take up our claim to corporate and they refused to respond. I've always used Walmart in the past but this Automotive Center does not take care of your vehicle. read more

Walmart Store# 05253 - 632 Grassfield Parkway in Chesapeake VA Horrible customer service at the clothing/fitting room area - GROWN ADULT employee acting like a child throwing a tantrum!!! Went to get pricing help after not finding a price tag for a pair of pants, or a working price check kiosk. The associate I approached must have been having a bad day based on her demeanor - it was like I was disrupting her by asking for a price check. The same associate was the one who was upset that I asked for a fitting room associate to be paged as there was no one there and there were other customers looking to try on clothes. A nearby associate said we would need to have someone paged to open the fitting rooms cause she didn't know where the fitting room associate was. I went looking for someone and ended up at the customer service desk who did page someone. When I got back I saw the first associate approaching the fitting room and start to let in a customer. She looked dead at me and said she didn't know why she was being paged because she was already there. I tried to tell her that I only did so because another associate suggested it after not being able to find someone and the fitting room desk was empty. Before I could get that out she cut me off and said "I'm on the phone". She then unlocked a fitting room and looked at me with disgust. After I tried on the pants I went and paid for my stuff and went back to the service desk and let the manager know what happened. She said she'd address the matter and I sincerely hope it is addressed. I'm not opposed to increasing wages for workers but I also expect basic customer service without being made to feel as if I'm inconveniencing employees for asking them to do their job! As i was leaving the service desk, the associate in question was walking towards there, mean mugging. At that point all I could do was laugh...it's disappointing and pathetic that grown adults act this way. That said, I also look onto the management and leadership of the store - they know who their problematic employees are and so part of the accountability is on them as well. Get it together Walmart...and Walmart Execs, don't turn a blind eye either. read more

Before I begin this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely on my opinion and my opinion alone so with that being said let's go!. This location is conveniently located off interstate 168 so if you're in need of anything this Walmart is literally right there by 168 so you don't have to go far off your course. It's like all the other Walmart Supercenters that have your household needs to your garden accessories as well as your perishable/ non perishable items so this is your one stop for shopping!. read more

Definitely only go to Walmart in the Chesapeake area. The shelves are looking pretty sad but due to covid most places are having problems. Employees are helpful. I do like the self check out with the belts! Most don't have those and it makes it so much easier! Definitely when only three cashiers are open! The fresh produce section was well stocked and all looked good. The subway in the store is nice and always fast as well! read more

If you want to have a bad day, go to this Walmart! We usually go to the Hillcrest area but needed photos printed so no choice but to go this one. The staff that was in the photo department was so mean and rude to my daughter. She did not care how the photos turned out at all. My daughter came home feeling defeated with a bad headache from her experience. The next day, my husband goes to the store to try and get better photos and had the same experience. Please stop hiring these people with no customer service and who hate their lives. read more

The store always looks like no one is on staff to keep the products organized and keep the place clean. The staff that I do see in the store are all running around with carts filling online orders. They rush through the aisles with no regard for the in-store customers. Sometimes there isn't any room in the aisle because of the online orders being filled. There is ZERO other staff available to do the job of up-keeping the store. Today I went to the store and one of the products I bought was 2 MONTHS EXPIRED. I guess I should have checked the expiration date, but I assumed that a store that boasts "high quality and good service" wouldn't put a product on the shelf for sale that is 2 1/2 months expired. This store needs to be inspected by the health department. And should be listed poorly by the BBB. I would not recommend this Walmart to anyone. I went to the WalMart deli to order the chicken trio platter for a party the next day. I was told I couldn't order the platter even though it was a little more than 24 hours in advance as they didn't have enough chicken. I asked if they could call another nearby WalMart to see if they could fulfill my order. I was told that I had to call. I called another WalMart deli and nobody answered the phone after 3 different phone calls. Then, I walked through both the frozen section and the meat section, and what did I see? Lots of chicken! It's really ridiculous that the deli couldn't fulfill this order due to lack of chicken that they obviously sell elsewhere in the store. Ridiculous. read more

I have shopped at this store since it opened. I have never gotten exceptionally good service. It's a Walmart. It's like a big dollar store full of cheap crap. I at least expect the store to honor the sticker price. When I found an incredible deal on a Crock-Pot I had to get it. The price was not ringing up as marked. Of course I asked them to honor the advertised price the customer service manager outright refused. I guess I will find a new department store, a new grocery store and a new everything store to shop at. I guess I'm willing to pay a little more to get better customer service. We visit the grassfield walmart...This store is so clean and well organized.I was able to find everything that I was looking for by using my Walmart app to scan prices and locate items. This locating is was well stocked based on the fact that society is in panic mode because if covid19. The floor workers where very helpful and eagle to asset you. Some items that where not on the shelf , the ladies in dairy department checked to see if overstock was in the backroom and where eagle to asset us. We need paint and the associates where very help and efficient in mixing our paint. While shopping in the produce department the associate not only told where a couple of items where located ,but walked me to them I was very impressed with her assistance. While shopping we saw some many encaps that displayed the special thet where and not advertised.We where searching for tv's and other electronics for items, the assocaites where very helpful. Not a very friendly Walmart, the employees don't smile or greet you in anyway. Customer service issues are just responded with a blank look until you finally give up and just forget it. I only go here if i happen to be in the area. It's in a nice area of Chesapeake but I have been to Walmart's in the hood that were much nicer and made you feel like you were welcome. They have a tire center which is not very common for the other ones in the area, hence the three stars. read more

This store has "some" (not all) of the rudest employees ever. They never seem to be happy about having a job and treat customers horribly. I watched one scream and yell at a kind speaking customer the other day over the customer asking an employee to address the lack of cleanliness of the bathroom and had to be asked twice because the employee refused to acknowledge her. The employee actually screamed at the customer that she DID NOT have to acknowledge her at all while pointing her finger at her. One of the managers was right there in between them. What is going on with employees that are permitted to act like this....and even in front of a manager? read more

The pros- the greeters are nice and there's a self checkout and the shelves are stocked 99.9% of the time. The cons- the employees. Especially the managers! I can't tell you how many times after I've checked out that I'm rolling my cart to the exit and a manager of all people will be standing in the middle of the aisle talking to someone. And then they make it seem like it's your fault that they're blocking the entire exit. Do they know they work in customer service? The cashiers are fine but there aren't enough of them. And that's not there fault. That comes back down to crappy management. Sometimes I drive the ten miles to the Hillcrest one just to avoid this Walmart that's less than a mile from my house. read more

I really like this Walmart. It's always clean, areas are organized, and the employees are very friendly. Whenever I can't find something, I'm able to ask any employee where something is, and they always direct me in the right direction or hand me off straight to the employee in that department that can help me. There is always someone collecting carts left around the store, and outside. I think only at 'peak' times have I not be able to get a tiny cart, but that's the nature of it - not really Walmart's fault. They have a great variety of handicap and 'multiple kid carts' (i.e. 2 seat carts) for those with multiple small children. Those doing checkout are also really nice. They are always wiping down the conveyor belts, and the person at self-checkout is quick whenever there is a discrepancy. The selection is also really abundant. And I must say, VERY CLEAN parking lot. This walmart takes a lot of pride in cleanliness and customer service. I recommend. read more

Tried to return a duvet full of carpet beetles. Never had them before. My wife bought and put this on 7 days ago. Now a problem. Went to WalMart to return and asked for a manager. Front desk person said they were. They were not and stopped a manager that did not know what to do. After that Guess what, they kept saying 3rd party over and over again. Could not return. This is a nice Walmart that's what I would call "on the edge of nowhere". It's not the newest, as it's been around about 4-5 years, but the community hasn't been totally developed around it yet, so it's not super crowded, there's plenty of parking and no one is panhandling for a cash in the parking lot like many other Walmart's in the area. I checked this place out for the first time just this week and picked up some clearance items for the new home from the after Christmas sales. I was in an out in less than an hour and with access on Dominion Blvd South I was home in a flash. I think this is going to be my "Go To" Walmart for a while to come. read more

So the Walmart on Grassfield Pkwy in chesapeake va sucks. Walked in there tonight had probably close to 300 dollars worth of merchandise and when going to check out found NOT A SINGLE LANE OPEN. Asked a cashier out of the large group that was standing there doing nothing and was told that the only place is self checkout and that experience mind you is a huge joke itself. Idiots!! Lying disrespectful idiots!! I bought an oil filter and 5 quarts of oil from a neighboring Walmart. My mechanic told me it was the wrong one. Someone had placed an oil filter on a different designation in a box for a PH3114. Customer disservice wouldn't give me a refund. Instead she lied to me saying that the register wouldn't let her do it. The code on the box matched the receipt so I know it would have gone through. Don't those idiots realize that the 10 minutes they spent being ignorant caused three people to wait in line for 10 minutes watching this. All for a $3.88 oil filter. On top of this there appeared to be a rather large teenager stationed beside me as if they were going to physically assault me. And on my way out some old man who couldn't speak English muttered something to me nd threatened to call the manager. I told him to call a manager ... I WANTED to talk to a manager. One of the better Walmart locations. Normally keeps a good variety and stock of everything. We do a lot of self check out and I wish they would clean the self check out stations more often. They've made improvements at the store frequently so not sure why the stations are always so dirty. read more

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I dislike Walmart. The only reason I went this time was because I had to get some glasses for work and they only cover it here. We can start off with my experience at the Vision Center. The lady addressed me when I came in, but she was checking out another customer so it took a while before she could actually get to me. I don't blame her though because it looked like she was the only one working and she was very nice once she did get to me. Since I was already there, I figured why not try to get some Vday and grocery shopping done. Bad idea. I thought I'd prefer this walmart because it's newer and bigger, but I was just overwhelmed with everything. I picked up a few items I needed for gifts and that was about it. I gave up on groceries and decided I'd go somewhere else for that. Unlike most Walmarts, this one had plenty of registers that were actually open ! It was a busy Sunday though so it still took forever. I will most definitely stand by my decision in coming here only if needed. read more

I don't write reviews often, but I felt like my recent experience warranted one. I came into this WalMart the other night when I was bored to walk around and kill some time. I ended buying a cart full of crap I didn't need (story of my life right there). In the course of the three-ish hours I wandered around throwing things in my cart, I asked for assistance from an employee twice and managed to piss off the self checkout machine. Every employee I met with was both very helpful and very pleasant. I was surprised at how many smiles I got at 9pm at night. Whoever the young lady is that works the self checkout often ( she's so sweet, calls everyone baby, honey, or big guy) needs a raise! Yesterday she took the time to wipe down and sanitize everything , from the touch screen, to the keypad on the card reader, to the plastic bag holder, in between each person. Took my car in for 4 new tires. Super slow! And when I picked up car after 3 hours-drove away and a metal piece flew off my car! Sotting now waiting for them to address the situation. This is my favorite Walmart superstore. It is always clean and well stocked. I prefer to come early in the morning before the crowds. I have been here on a couple occasions where I felt more lines should've been open. However, on this visit I was able to get in and out very quickly with no wait. I try my best to avoid coming to any Walmart during their busiest hours. Unfortunately, that's not always possible. I'm glad I got here early. Now I'm hoping I can get back home quickly. Dominion Blvd. gets backed up fast for folks who need to cross the veterans bridge. The traffic is one of the major reasons why I don't come here as often as I'd like. read more

I really like this Walmart, over all its much bigger than the one in chesapeake and a lot more variety. But today i am really focusing on the amazing vision center they have. Their optometry technician Liz provided an outstanding service. I originally had my lens made in a walmart in chicago where they messed it up big time. I went to the walmart in chesapeake where they turned me down because they are a franchise walmart not a cooperate walmart ( research the difference and make sure you dont get your glasses done in a franchise center). She found out all the problems with my lenses and re took measurements and re-ordered my lenses. I was so pleased with her , i immediately brought in my gf for her lenses. This Walmart has actually changed my view on Walmart, I used to absolutely hate going! I found this Walmart shortly after moving to great Bridge an can I say was so thrilled. The one on Battlefield is the worst Walmart i have ever see and I was not looking forward to having to do all my shopping there. This Walmart is very clean and organized. The produce is great and even the employees are helpful, in particular the man in the meat department Carlos. He rose up where his coworker did not when i was looking for an item that was out in the cooler. I have dealt with Customer Service Manager Candice M. more than once and seriously, why is she a manager? I have never seen her smile or even produce a modicum of remote interest in customers. Really, she needs to be in the back somewhere. Clearly she hates her job. Why am I on this roll? I have interacted with her at least two times during returns and once when a self-checkout register failed to properly dispense my change. I admit it that it doesn't help her case that I stood there watching the cashier in charge of the area stop and chat with a fellow employee before she made her way to the service desk to get the manager. She seriously forgot about me in under two minutes! When Candice finally slowly rolled up she made no eye contact with me and didn't even utter a greeting or a simple, "I'm sorry this happened." Or you know, acknowledged my presence. AND this is the best part, after watching the employee bang on the same "button" on the screen for at least 15 + presses, Candice did the SAME thing! Are you serious?! The resolution is just jam up the electronic system by repeatedly tapping a finger on it?! Next I am going to see a "Happy Days" juke box bang? When she finally tried something else and gave me my money she said, "Thanks." Candice M. hates her job. She is the SAME person who engaged with the employee in my previous post. Lines are rarely open, associates are not helpful with getting anything. Today I wanted to purchase game system from the case and no one was around to help me. Often the hunting license counter is not manned and takes a very long time before a new associate will help you. read more
