They had five electric grocery shopping carts for the handicap. The bread section was off in a little squared off area on its own. The meat section was set up different. The vegetable section was like it was a bargain Bin store I did not get to check out the rest of the store because by the time I made it to the front and back of the grocery side, I kept almost falling on my face because you only have five handicap carts. I live in a very small town in southern Indiana and our Walmart is so much bigger more organized cleaner. I just couldn't believe this was an actual Walmart. read more

Since moving to the area a few years ago, I've been here a handful of times. This is the only place I've been where it's normal to wait 30-45 minutes in line. Maybe an hour if you come at just the wrong time. Self checkouts are never open, yet you still have to show your receipt and get bag checked at the door before exiting. Worst of all, I once tried to use their in store shopping/pickup service (similar to the stellar drive up service offered across the street at Target) and it took someone an hour to come out with my bags. If you're planning to buy ice cream or other frozen/cold goods I'd suggest putting them in a cold bag immediately, so the stuff you're paying hard earned money for doesn't melt as you wait. I'd also consider sending a shopping partner ahead of you in line and then handing them your stuff after you find it. Now, I know I said that each visit here is literally a test of each ounce of patience in one's body. My most recent visit takes the cake. I got in the "line," which was an amorphous blob. Further down the way was a *slightly* separated line with a sign labeled "fifteen items or less." I only had three items, so that should've been ideal. The moment I noticed that my line branched off into the optional less than 15 line was the moment other people were trying to cut in front of me. Thankfully I was able to stop them from actually doing so. As I had to physically hold these people back, I looked around in the hopes of making eye contact with a security guaed. No such luck though. I guess they only hang out near the electronics or in the entryway. Cool. Would it be reasonable to presume that that the term "fifteen items or less" implies some sort of fast lane, or am I the crazy one here? They took over ten minutes to checkout two customers. Then after those people left, another customer took for-freaking-ever because she had... wait for it... way more than fifteen items! What are rules for? Why have a sign that reads "fifteen items or less" of that can't be enforced? Why have security guards standing around at all times if not to back up your employees, who should be enforcing their own rules?? Once again... make it make sense. So, this woman with a lot more than fifteen items took an extra long time to check out because she was still making her final selections. I saw her instruct employees to put things back, then she'd change her mind and ask them to scan something, then she'd have them put it back... again. There was a whole shelf of things she had them put back (as you'll see in the picture I've attached). This absolutely should not have been allowed and was insanely disrespectful to everyone else doing their time in this hellscape of a line/store. When it was FINALLY time for me to check out, about twenty-five minutes had passed. Remember, this store can do far worse. However, due to the constant noice of the people squished in around me and a weird incessant ringing (bell like?) sound throughout the entire store, it felt more like twenty-five years. Remember to bring your cooler bag *and* your earplugs. There were two women behind the checkout. One had just gotten there soon before it was my turn and I assume she was in training or something. That's fine, everyone has to learn! However, I wonder how good of an example the new hire was learning from... as neither of them acknowledged me at all. I know it doesn't take long to ring up three or four items but it felt rude because they were only talking to each other about random unrelated things. The worst part was when they turned to the person behind me and spoke with them, before they had given me a receipt. I felt kind of rude but I had my bag in hand and I wasn't going to wait a second longer, so I had to interrupt them. Remember, you need your receipt to leave this hellscape. I'd known that from past experiences! I was genuinely appalled and frustrated with how they didn't even ask whether I wanted it before greeting the next customer. Why was I in this wal-mart in the first place? I needed a special oil for my bike that would've taken too long to ship via Amazon. I should've just sucked it up and waited. My boyfriend wanted something very specific (a sort of niche outdoor recreational item) and it was only $10 (normally $20) for a limited time. An experience like the one I had here is not worth saving $10. In past trips, I've gone here to get (technically to replace) a well loved string toy for my cats. Now I'll just buy it online. If there's anything you can do, avoid this hellscape at all costs. Target is just across the street and it's miles ahead of this store. The food (esp fresh food like veggies) is better quality and everything is cleaner overall. Plus, they offer a competent drive up service. If you have a bad experience at this store, make sure to utilize the survey code on your receipt. I got a polite but canned response from management- could be proof that someone reads their official feedback. read more

This is a pretty typical Walmart--trusty, reliable, no frills. This review is mainly for the AUTO CARE CENTER since I got a standard oil change here. It costs $35 (after tax) to get a standard oil change, which is on the lower side for sure! Get there early so that you have to wait less. To be honest I have no idea what the actual opening time is because I've seen different times on the website, on Google, and on yelp, but they definitely open at least at 9 AM. Once you get closer to noon a lot more cars coming in and you'll have to wait a lot later. I got there at nine and there was only one other car being serviced at the time three techs. I was able to get my car fixed while I waited at Starbucks for about an hour and then they called me to pick my car up. It was a very easy exchange, I looked at the receipt afterwards and saw that there were some things that they did not even offer me, like a vacuum of the carpet which I guess was actually included in the offer, but they said that I declined even though I never was asked. read more

I work at this location in steel yard, and All the reviews are correct, except the one that store management has the employees write to make it sound safe,,, it's not. I was called the N word by other employee and it was over heard by management and the supposedly talked to him. Not even 30 minutes later he come to my work area and make a comment that I think I'm bulletproof and make a gun jester pointing at me saying bang bang! He still is working, never lost any hours, while I'm not working and at this point have lost almost 200 hours of pay. I go into the store on 12/24/2024 with my wife and he see me and makes it a point to come to where I'm at and stares me down, I left the aisle and continued my shopping for him to find me again along with to other employees and tries to intimidate me again, I left the store and emailed management, HR, and corporate. He's still there working and I'm still losing hours. Please don't be confused, I'm not afraid of this man, I'm afraid of what I might do, I am an old school Marine and can handle myself. The electronics dept workers were so unprofessional and they were lazy and didn't want to do their jobs to look for a phone and then kept trying to convince me the phone I was trying to purchase was locked to a specific carrier when it was an unlocked phone. It took a coach to find it but then the worker said they needed a manager numbers and none of the workers wanted to page a manager. Ugh. Worst store ever. Then they removed most of the self checkout counters and replaced them with registers that need workers and there are never many registers open. read more

I now understand why they call this place "The Worst Walmart in America." During the short ten minutes I was in this Walmart, it certainly lived up to this title. If I could give this place zero stars I would. When you enter the parking lot, it's a total free for all. Everyone driving everywhere, honking, running into things, total chaos. The lot is literally covered in trash. From paper and packaging and moldy food to dirty diapers and medicine bottles, just trash everywhere. But wait, it gets worse. You walk into the store and there's trash on the floor. Merchandise everywhere. There are tons of checkouts but only a few open. The lines look to be an hour long. The employees look miserable and unapproachable. Customers are yelling profanities and cutting each other in line. And then there's the bathrooms. Every single stall is trashed. Really destroyed. The toilet seats ripped off. Poop all over the floor. Clogged and overflowing toilets. Paper towels anywhere and everywhere. It looks like a war zone. Needless to say, after seeing the state of the restrooms, the atrocious lines, the merchandise strewn across the floors, and truly feeling scared for my life, I decided it was in my best interest to just call it a day and get out of this pathetic excuse of a retail establishment. Not even sure where to begin. I've been going to this location off and on for four years because it's the only store within 10 minutes that has everything I need. That's the only reason for the second star. They never have enough registers open. You will typically wait in a check out line for twenty minutes. The self check out is always faster but you have to have 20 items or less. The bathrooms are constantly disgusting. I once walked in an four stalls were clogged, so I will never go in their restrooms again. There are always people waiting near the exit and asking for money or trying to sell things. Security should have a better handle on this. It's just an extremely frustrating place to be at. I typically go to the Target across the street and happily pay 20% more so that I don't have to do with this God forsaken place. read more

Ya'll ... it's a Walmart. I don't know what people are expecting or why this particular location seems to be dubbed "the worst in America" because it's pretty on-par with every one I've ever been to. Ashtabula, Aurora, South Euclid, Mayfield, etc are not extremely different from this one. I've been going at least once a week for over 6 months (sometimes during the day, sometimes at night ... usually during the week but also sometimes weekends) and this location is unexceptional in every way. Just a standard, run of the mill WM. The parking lot is normal ... it's a pretty decent size, there are plenty of lanes, arrows indicate which directions you can drive (some lanes are one way and others are 2-way). Sometimes drivers don't follow those guidelines, but that's something I've experienced in every Walmart parking lot, and in any other parking lot for that matter. People aren't generally driving like it's a NASCAR track or anything, it's just regular people doing regular driving and there's the occasional jerk who cuts you off. Welcome to parking lots! Anyone handing stuff out or collecting donations is pretty unobtrusive - only twice have people approached me directly and both times I said no and was respectfully left alone. The store itself is also fine. The setup is reminiscent of other Walmart locations (though the exact details may differ depending on which other locations you are used to). Certain products require an associate to grab for you and to be held at customer service, but it's a small selection of products and I've never had any problems with it. The interior is about as clean and organized as any Walmart I've been too. I find it to be cleaner and more organized than the South Euclid one by a small margin. In fact, when I moved from Cleveland Heights to Tremont and first went here (before I had heard about the bad rep it gets) my wife and I remarked that it was pretty nice inside compared to that one. I've never had a major problem with solicitations either. They have them in every Walmart from time to time - Spectrum sign ups or photo sessions being sold). I ignore them and just keep saying no while I continue my errands. Again, it isn't any worse than literally any other Walmart I've ever been to. In addition to the shelves being stocked pretty well, the employees I've interacted with (and I go weekly at least once) have always been nice or at worst disinterested. I have never seen any direct rudeness or violence or shouting. Just your typical run of the mill overworked and underpaid retail associate who is trying to do their job as quickly as possible, counting down the minutes to going home. To sum it up ... It's a WM. Got into an argument with a store employee, I was leaving the store and had a big item that wouldn't fit in the Tagus provided. They wanted me to show a receipt I kindly refused. The associate put her hand on my basket and told me I couldn't leave, I explained to them that "you HAVE to show your receipt policy" is no where stated on the receipt, at any of the entrance/exits therefore I didn't. The lady said "it's the holiday time". I reiterated that that policy isn't posted. A manager came up scanned the item and said have a nice day and then made rude remark saying "next time just show the receipt" I followed by saying "next time post it & I will". I placed an order for delivery and I was sent an email that it was out for delivery, I waited 45 minutes past the expected arrival time and then tried to call the store, I tried multiple times and no one answered. called Walmart customer care and she told me it would be delivered the next day. it has come and gone and NO delivery, called store again multiple time, still NO answer. called walmart customer care again and they tried to contact the store and couldn't either. they said the store had not rescheduled my delivery so I just canceled the order, TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! read more

This place is slaving away people. I work at the steelyard and always go to the deli section before the entrance and the same Latina lady is always working so hard. Every time I get my lunch, she has been stuck by herself doing everything with no one there to help her. You can see her sweat like crazy from overwork. I know this Walmart is already a dump but to have that poor woman by herself handling everything with no decent help is just criminal. I came here to buy paperclips and pens as I'm a petition worker and knowing their policy I do not petition here, but, as I left I was verbally assaulted by the greeting person, told my job was illegal which it's my first amendment right to petition, told that I was a "piece of shit" and that there are commercials saying not to sign my petition ( likely funded by the competition, politics are a headache to work in ) . I was looking for some bamboo and he walked me to the craft area and then to Customer Service to check the price, simply exceptional service. To make a long story short....an item I purchased came w a $5 gift card which they then charged me for. While walking out I realized I was charged for the $5 card. Insert chaos and simple math to the 2 women at customer service and 1 shift supervisor. I'm now here going on 40 minutes and they still cannot figure this out. While I'm pretty sure they have now charged my card 3 separate times. Any suggestion or question I have asked or intervened with has received eyes rolls and sighs. One of the employees stole my iPhone. I left my phone at the register while helping the cashier bag. As soon as I realized it was missing, within minutes, I returned, and the cashier wasn't there anymore. I backtracked to the places I had been. There was a girl in electronics who had a phone with my exact otterbox cover poking out of the corner of her pocket. I asked if she had seen my phone. She said no, tilted her body, and poked the phone all the way into her pocket with her index finger. I asked to borrow her phone thinking I would call my cell phone from hers and catch them in the act. When I tried, my phone had already been deactivated. The cashier had clearly taken it straight to electronics (where Walmart sells and activates mobile phones), handed it off to the the girl I was talking to who worked in electronics, and had it deactivated in minutes. A complete scam. I decided to go to loss prevention. I gave them the whole story and told them I was suspicious an associate stole it. While I was there I found another woman also complaining of a lost cell phone in the store. They checked the footage and said "it's still in the store, but that's all we can say. For us to act further, the cleveland police need to be involved." They themselves refused to call the police, so I borrowed their phone and called. Cleveland police said they don't investigate "any theft under a thousand dollars in value" because their resources are too scarce. A fact that I'm sure the Walmart loss prevention people knew. So basically walmart refused to do anything, and I just had to accept that my phone had been stolen. They knew what happened on the footage, they knew it was still "in the store," but they refused to help me because it would involve catching one of their associates stealing from a customer. A $500 phone. And probably the other woman who was waiting too. Yeah, it sucks. But Walmart corporate pays their associates like third-class citizens, so I wasn't even mad at the one who stole it. I'm just mad Walmart protected the thieves. Will never shop any Walmart again. read more

It's the most convenient place to go but the most inconvenient place to shop. Why have endless rows of checkouts when you're only going to have three open? Everyone knows the lines are horrific. But lets also talk about how unbelievably unsanitary this place is. On multiple occasions, I have observed Steelyard Walmart employees leaving RAW meat out of refrigeration. The first time, there was a package of steaks on the doughnut stand near the deli. The place was slammed, so I called the person working behind the deli, and offered to grab it for him to throw out. Shockingly, he said no, other workers will "X it out" at the end of the night. So, for at least a few hours, those steaks were left to drip e-coli on the doughnuts. God knows whether or not the doughnuts and steaks were thrown out, or just wiped off and sold as new. I've also seen a raw beef chuck roast just chillin on the back of a cash register - literally at eye level for the cashier. Zero fucks given. I know, they're paid only slightly better than indentured servants, but even if you're paying me minimum wage, I wouldn't want to watch maggots grow up a mere 18 inches from my face. Needless to say, I avoid purchasing food at this Wal Mart at all costs. Aldi's just around the corner has similar prices and significantly better service and cleanliness. Oh and sweet Jesus don't use the bathroom there. You'll leave a bit of your soul in that place. read more

If I were in a peppier mood, I might write an appropriate, country-western flavored song, but since I just got back from Steelyard Walmart, lighting some incense and repeating a calming mantra seem more in order - but in lieu of that, here I am on Yelp. Now I will second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth every derogatory comment the other Yelpers have left, and then I'll add a few more. This store is a meme in motion; This store is a study in humanity and culture but I promise you, you're not going to leave feeling like you saw a special on PBS. You know how some cities say, "At least we're not Detroit!" - Well other stores in Cleveland say, "At least we're not Steelyard Walmart!" Okay, now that I got that out of my system, let me say that I will absolutely agree that it is NOT the fault of the cashiers that management doesn't hire/staff enough people at any given time, like oh you know, after work hours (logically!) to cover the lines that back up literally into the clothing racks. Today, we waited in line over 30 minutes, because someone decided to use WIC coupons with various items in 4 carts of groceries. That's right. I got out of line while my son waited. I went and asked another cashier to call a manager. "Well I don't have a phone at my station so..." Hm, that's convenient. But why on earth, why oh why would the cashier not say "Hey, hold up, you ain't Wic'ing four carts in my line, lady?" Why would there not be a policy as such? Because it's Walmart. Steelyard Walmart. And they don't care. I will also add that it's been my personal experience that there is a large degree of hm, how do I say it nicely? Preferential treatment given by the cashiers of a certain demographic to customers of the same demographic. I'm not pointing fingers, but you know who you are. Yet, of course this argument would never in a million years hold water, because it's 2015 in America... and it's Walmart. Steelyard Walmart. And they don't care. Are we seeing a pattern here? Lastly, if you think hey, it's a 24 hr. store, I'll just go at 3am and things will be better, you're incorrect. After midnight, as Eric Clapton famously sang, is when they let it all hang out. The employees shout across the aisles to one another in various colorful phrases, the shelves are in utter disarray, and God forbid you need someone to assist you. So as you might surmise from these reviews ----- stay away -------- trust every instinct that you have that it's worth the drive to North Olmsted Walmart. You might even want to drive to Strongsville - unless you're the Steelyard customers we hate, then just stay where you are. read more
