It used to be, that I never shopped at Fry's on Yuma Rd., because they were significantly higher in price than Walmart. In the last 6 months or so, after Walmart said they were going to trim back on what they sold in their stores (no doubt to pay that HEFTY raise to their employees), their produce has been small, mostly old and pretty much MORE expensive than Fry's. So, with the exception of durable goods and other non-edible items, I started doing my shopping at Fry's. Then Walmart sent me a 10% off coupon through email to try their new online shopping service, their (usual) belated response to competition (like their raising workers' salaries). I went online, did my shopping, applied my discount code TRYITNOW, put through the order and got confirmation of the order, with an order number, saying the items would be ready to pick up between 10am and 2pm and that they would give me a call right before the order was due to be picked up as a confirmation (they ask YOU to call 10 minutes ahead of your actual pick-up time, so you don't have to wait for your order, which they'll deliver to your car). The next morning, I called the number on the email, only to find out, that wasn't the local store where I had to confirm I was coming by, but a central "customer service" number. And so, the agent on the line went to transfer me to my local store (1100 N. Estrella) and after 2 minutes of recording, the line goes dead. So, I look up their number directly, call Walmart, the agent answers and goes to transfer my call. And then, I held for 30 rings (at least, that's how many there were once I started counting) before I hung up, as no one was answering. So, I call back and the agent answering the phone wants to transfer me again, to which I say, no one's answering. So, she says, she'll transfer me, but also put an announcement over the loudspeaker. And so, after only 25 rings (this time, I counted from Ring One), someone named Mike answers and I tell him I'm calling to confirm a pick-up. He asks for the order number and, guess what: the order number is too short. I confirm he has the number I read off (he did) and then he asks my name, which, after re-spelling it three times, then tells me, nope, not in the system. Then he questions whether I have the right store and I tell him the address on the confirmation email and start to read it to him at which point, the line goes dead with several clicks (i.e., the line didn't go dead; Mike hung up on me). So, I call the store back and this time ask the agent to transfer me to a manager. After holding for three minutes, she comes back on the line and says to me, "the manager said, tell him to leave a message" (this, by the way, while my other half's on the way to pick up our order). I explain the situation and she says, "let me see, if I can find a co-manager." Knowing full well that's code for "hang on for as long as you are stupid", I hang up and dial the customer service number for the department handling orders. Yep, he says, the order's there and the store was notified last night ... but let me transfer you to that department." "Whoa," I say, "to WHICH department?" And wouldn't you know? He wants to send me back to Mike to argue with him that he doesn't know what he's talking about. Nope, I said, refund the order ... then give me your name and department (because, if you believe it, they don't have agent sines and don't give out last names ... and, if I were him, I wouldn't give out my name either). Now, to be fair, when I was placing the order last night, I said to the other half that I didn't have a whole lot of faith in Walmart's minimum-wage employees and if they DID somehow have the order waiting when we arrived, the ice cream more likely than not would be melted and they'd probably advise us to just put it in the freezer and re-freeze it. So, in conclusion, none of this surprised me; I anticipated major issues; and I'm glad, I had to go to Fry's and pay more for fresher and bigger vegetables; efficient service and a shopping experience that was anything but nightmarish (which pretty much describes this Walmart since wages for employees were ... yeah, right ... "raised"). Walmart, may I recommend your next coupon promotion read: "GO SC**W YOURSELF". It fits how you treat your employees and your customers much more appropriately than "TRYITNOW". I just left Walmart on Estrella about 30 minutes ago. I have been shopping at this location since 2007. Lately I have came during the over nights to shop past few months. I payed for my grocery at the self check out near the exit. A young security guard was working the door and two yellow fest employees was working back and fourth that end. I finish my purchase and had to use the restroom, so I left my wife there. My wife decided to purchase a water as I walked away. My wife game down with the kart to catch me at 1st convience ATM. Same people on duty see us, now we are walking back to the exit. The security guard ask to see my receipt, I was caught off guard. No one has ask to check my receipt before, thats why I bag everything I can. My wife ask why , she said all the other guest that was leaving was not checked. Guard did not answer. The first receipt I pulled was from the bag that had the water. The guard then ask for the receipt that has the rest of our purchases, I then pulled that out, still surprised. Showed to him then walked out. I came back in after loading up and ask the guard why did he ask for my receipt. The young man told me because I had alot in my cart. As I was talking to him in anger a women came by and stopped by us and her cart was almost the same of mine but he did not ask for her receipt. I yelled at him are you not going to check her receipt and he said I had more bags. To top it off some of her items was not bagged. The security guard stepped away because he new how angry I was. Two employees was looking on then they walked out. The two yellow vest on duty was not far off and never looking in our direction . I wallked out because I may have lost my cool more. Walmart and GE money bank have taken advantage of me. I bought a TV 3 months ago and opened store credit and got a promotion to pay the amount in 12 months without interest and then after excatly three months have finished of the payment they told me that I'm not eligible to the promotion and when I asked to return the TV back they told that I can't do that coz it passed 90 days and the only soultion that I have got are to pay the balance full amount or ccept the interest. This walmart is right next door to me, so I treat it like my walk in closet. I usually go here for most of the stuff I need. The staff is helpful and nice. The store is clean. They usually process the lines very quickly and have 8 self check out stands. read more

I prefer Target because I have always had a pretty terrible experience at Walmart pretty much every time I've gone but Amazon and Target didn't have these specific toys.I placed an order online for in store pick up on 12/7 for three items. On 12/13 I received an email that my order was ready and my items would be held through 12/20. I decide to wait until Monday 12/16 to pick up my items to avoid the weekend crowds. Monday morning comes along and I get an email that part of my order has been refunded. I look to see if it's still in stock and it is so I was going to just reorder it but I notice the price is $5 more. Confused I call customer service and after a wait on hold they inform me that my order was past the pick up time so the item was put back. I let her know that I had only received one email about my order and it said I had until 12/20 to pick it up. I never received an email telling me I had to pick up any part of it earlier. She then put me on hold again and came back and said, since you weren't aware of our policy we'll do a price adjustment this one time. Essentially blaming me for the companies mistake. I just let it go at that point because there was no point in arguing and wasting more time. I reorder the item while on the phone, give her the order information and she gave me a refund for the difference. I accidentally ordered it to the wrong store, this was my fault I was distracted on the phone and trying to get my kids ready to go for my daughters ballet class. So, I pick up that item from the Avondale store and get the item from the kiosk and head to the Goodyear store to grab the rest of my items. That part goes pretty smoothly. I check in on my mobile app to let the store know I'm coming because it says it makes the process go faster which is important to me because I'm toting my one year old and four year old around and toddlers are not known for their patience. So I arrive, my phone tells me that I'm checked in and a customer service associate will be with me shortly. I scan my barcode on the kiosk also, just in case. I wait and wait. More people come, scan for their stuff. About 15-20 minutes pass and a gentleman comes and asks us if anyone has come to help us and we tell him no so he pages customer service for us. More time goes by and finally a woman comes with a scanner to check our orders. I can see on the screen by that time it shows I've been waiting 27 minutes. By that time there were five of us waiting. Another 15-20 minutes go by. Finally the assistant manager and another employee comes out. We speak to them and the assistant manager says our things are in a shipping container and he was going to go help the other employee out to expedite the process. I asked him what was the point of checking in early before getting to the store if no one bothers to get your items ready anyways and he had no idea what I'm talking about and says he doesn't know about the online check in process. He leaves, another 15 minutes go by. Finally, they come back with our stuff. Sheri was very helpful and apologetic and offered to help me to my car which was nice. There was one other gentleman working at the front that was helpful (I wish I got his name) and paged customer service for us. Everything else was awful. While we were waiting, three different employees came in loaded items into the kiosk and not one of them asked if we needed anything. The assistant manager was apologetic but it is baffling to me he isn't aware of how the online check in process works. My kids were going nuts and were hysterical by the time we finally got out of the store. It took over an hour to get my things, 22 minutes on the phone with customer service and an extra stop to another store (which again was my fault but something I should have never had to do in the first place because part of my order should not have been cancelled). So about two plus hours for a process that should have taken 10 minutes out of my day. Never again. read more

Three weeks ago I went through the cig line with my groceries and was literally sent to another line for the purchase because at THIS Walmart you apparently are not allowed to purchase cigs unless you are purchasing less than 10 items at that register. Isn't the point behind shopping at Walmart that you are supposed to be able to use it as a one stop shopping source? I have never encountered this nonsensical approach to customer service.....punish the customer for buying too many of your products along with limiting your cig sales?? I also have to report that yesterday my husband and I stopped by to purchase a few items, which included a case of Heineken, and as our items were being rung into the register, the cashier asked for an ID, which I provided, and after glancing at it, she told me that it was corporate policy to ask for all ID's of those in line in order to purchase alcohol. My husband and I were puzzled and of course he provided identification as we are both in our mid thirties, but I requested to speak with a manager as I know this is NOT corporate policy. The way my husband and I were subsequently treated by the csm Sindy was unbelievably insulting which of course resulted in my request for the store manager, to which she responded...., HE'LL be here in a minute, the store manager is a female, so obviously she felt like she didn't want the store manager to be contacted in regard to the treatment we recieved. I spoke with an assistant store manager who told me that it was state law and corporate policy to check everyone's ID who happens to be in line with you when purchasing alcohol or tobacco. I asked him...., what about if there is a child present? If it were myself and a child...., would I be turned down for said purchase? He stated....of course not, we wouldn't ask for ID's for children or teenagers...... Sooooooo, which is it? You have to ask for ID's from everyone in line or not? Or just from the adults that are obviously of age? I spoke with corporate directly and they have begged forgiveness for how we were treated and assured me that this is absolutely NOT their policy and that I will be contacted within a week with a formal apology from the store manager. I also contacted the DLLC and had the statements regarding state laws disproved, there are no laws whatsoever in AZ that require everyone standing near you to show ID for an alcohol purchase. I recieved a phone call at 9:30pm last night from an assistant manager from this location asking me what the problem was? I asked why in the world I was receiving a call after 9pm from anyone there, and why the store manager was not following through as corporate assured me she would be required to do. He stated...., I do all the same things that she does, so I don't see why you wouldn't talk to me? Well, let's see, shall we begin with the fact that you chose to call a customer in the middle of the night?? Is that a new corporate policy? I let him know that I will be expecting a call from the store manager today. I said all of that to say this...., my husband is a minority, a 100% disabled veteran minority, and it was painfully obvious through this ENTIRE process as to why he had been singled out for his ID after I had already presented my valid DL. We immediately went to customer service after our purchase yesterday morning and returned the entire cart. We will not be Walmart supporters any longer, and I would request that anyone that supports our military, whether active duty or disabled veteran, or anyone who is a minority or loves one as much as I do, boycott at least THIS location in order for this store manager to see that we ALL deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, that customer service DOES matter and that ignoring issues that are presented to her along with her staff making lame excuses based on outright lies to cover racism will not be tolerated. read more

I have been a customer for 20 years to this one Walmart super center. This place is guilty of FALSE advertising! I am very BIG in to add matches(price match to other stores). I have been doing this for quite some time, they have sometimes not hounded my price matches well today was the LAST day they do that. A assistant manger named Teresa was very rude to me about the add match for London broil. She called me and I quote " A stupid white bitch". That is very poor service and I am Very offended. We live in California and have to come to AZ every other week for my husbands cancer treatment. We went to this store and bought a camera and took it home to CA before opening it. We got home opened it and there was a cord missing and the film over the screen was missing. It looked like someone returned the camera and it was put back on the shelf. Well, we went to Walmart today and wanted to return it and get our money back, which was a lot. No one could help us only a manager could approve the return. Well we waited for TIM to come and approve the return for about a half hour and NO TIM showed up. We had to leave to go to my husbands appointment at the hospital. After my husbands appointment we went back to Walmart to talk to TIM. Again no one knew where TIM was we had to wait again for quit a while. Finally TIM showed up and looked over everything and finally approved the return. TIM did not apologize for the wait or anything. He was actually rude to us. Becky who helped with the return and apologized how this whole situation took place. She deserves the MANAGER job more that TIM. Its a shame that a MANAGER of a store such as Walmart was no where to be found. We will not be shopping there any more.......... read more

I am a retired Walmart associate, with over 20 years of service. I have been in several Walmart stores, and my experience at Walmart on Estrella Parkway today was absolutely the worst ever. If every Walmart store was like this, Walmart would be out of business. The bread aisle had three, yes 3 loaves of bread . Period. I wanted meat from the deli, and no one would wait on me. There were two employees in the deli, but they ignored me, acting like they did not hear my request for help. I spent over 2 hours going back and forth to the Pharmacy, and never did get my prescription, I will transfer all my prescriptions to the Walmart Store in Avondale ( 13055 W. Rancho Santa Fe Blvd.) The Estrella store is more convenient for me, but I have been very satisfied with the Avondale store the few times I have shopped there. I'm sure we've all driven home from Walmart and found one item missing once in our lives. Everybody makes mistakes, but when I called the store to advise them of my missing $16.00 DVD ($115 total purchase), I was told it would take some time to investigate the issue and that I would get a return call. Two days later I called again and was told I would get a return call that afternoon. At 7PM, I called again and at that time the Asset Protection employee looked at the tape. He then told me that I had put it in my cart and once out of the store, it was my problem. However, he didn't mention that the turnstile was inundated with bags before I loaded them into my cart and he wouldn't tell me what had happened at the register after I left. I will call 1-800-WALMART and if this is not resolved, will forward a letter to Michael Duke to resolve the issue. It appears Ms. Irma Weaver, the manager, doesn't respect Sam Walton's philosophy concerning customer satisfaction. Why did I mark it a three...the store is clean, and neat. I have to sing the praises of the Auto department at Wal-mart, specifically Jason and Amy for their amazing customer service I received today. Had a dead battery this morning and after getting my roadside assistance to get me a jump I started calling around for quotes on batteries and ended up at this location. I was down to my last few bucks and so I was attempting to have a friend pay for the battery for me until I could reimburse her. Needless to say this process posed some difficulties for me as my friend was at work and not with me. Between the great customer service of Amy and her manager Jason they took care of my problem and I was out the door with a new battery in less than 2 hours after arriving. Amy was patient and kind, offering words of encouragement telling me it was going to be okay and we'd figure it out. She even offered to share some of her candy. Jason accepted my gratitude with grace for his assistance and only asked that I bring my car back for future maintenance and tires. I will be happy to oblige for the life of this car. Thank you guys so much, I truly appreciate the care and consideration I received while at your store. In my eyes you guys are the Rockstars of this Walmart! read more

Customer service is pretty much non existent here. I've had multiple bad experiences with this Walmart but today I'm fed up. There's been times I'm in the cosmetic aisles and I've asked this older lady with glasses where something is and she'll just point and mumble something, I NEVER find what I was looking for and if I did I probably wouldn't even spend the money there. She doesn't even look up and comes off as if I'm bugging her so of course I'm not going to ask her a second time. maybe I'm expecting to much but where I'm from there's more hospitality. She's usually stocking so it doesn't seem like she's terribly busy I just know when I was trained in retail I was taught to stop what you're doing and take the customer to what they're looking for. Tonight I went real quick to get a new belly ring bc I lost the ball, I waited for like five minutes, stopped one of the workers she told me to hold on so I assumed she went for a key, time passes I don't see her again so I stopped the next worker I saw (which turned out to be a manager) as soon as I said "excuse me" she tells me to HOLD ON and when I said wow she stopped to tell me all the jewelry is locked down which I understand, okay but I am a customer and I just think you speak to a customer in a different tone. The way she spoke I felt as if I was an employee. I think this is where big corporations drop the ball, if it was more of a local place I'm sure seone would've got the case open... IT makes me not want to spend my money there read more
