This is my go-to Costco in the west valley. I've never had an issue here. I almost always find what I need and the staff have been very helpful. For the second time in a few months, I I purchased a container of Half N Half and, getting it home, found that the top had been unscrewed and the little plastic plug removed. No doubt about this... and worse, I had to pour out the contents. I stopped there today to let management know that they might have a problem, and when a manager was called, the individual who pleased (before I could get a word out) was rude, so much so that I was shocked. No, floored. His tone was offensive, almost as if there was something else boiling his water. The shift manager who joined him was even worse, a complete lack of respect, condescending, and just downright ugly... almost as if they were both very racist. I've worked as a professional,pilot most of my adult life and I'm used to rude, unpleasant people... but these two take the cake. I learned a long time ago that it pays to break bad news recording the conversation with a cellphone camera, which is exactly what I did. I was concerned that someone is opening these sealed containers as a prank (or worse) -- and don't want to be accused of being guilty of what I was reporting. I wasn't asking for anything: my behavior was proper, level-headed, and neutral; I didn't demand a replacement... in fact, I wasn't able to say anything at all. (I checked: I didn't get a word out.) Maybe it was because I keep my hair short, I'm clean-shaven, my clothes presentable, my countenance neutral and professional, that they think I worked for the U.S. government. I've experienced Costco's escort service for the first time in my 30 years as a Costco client. We have been in and out of this store lately evaluating and buying items beyond eggs, bread, coffee and extremely, supremely, exquisitely, globally, healthy snacks. Some 8 foot sun shades caught my eye. The family has several baking south facing walls and windows. Good price, made better than my previous roller shades. You know that Wise Saying of the 21st Century, "Buy it now at Costco. When it is sold out,there will be no more." Friday night, we headed here for shades and gasoline. The shades are packed in rigid, clear 8 feet plus of slick plastic. We loaded four onto our grocery cart. We began navigating aisles packed with shoppers panicked by the nation's recent tariff amusement park construction by a Washington D.C deconstruction crew. The checkout lines at 7:30 p.m. stretch from the hot dog line to the croissant table. We have four slippery eight foot solar shades, weaving our way between palm tree and prune, vitamin and gummy fiber aisles, other shoppers making their way from right and left looking to check out or buy. The plastic wrapped sun shades have zero friction coefficient. They slide forward and sideways as we navigate. People are patient and helpful. This is America, land that I love. Between my wife, hundreds of helpful shoppers, and our communal genius, we reset the sliding boxes, jamming one end into the baby leg openings at the driver end of the cart. We had created a mobile limbo platform. Any one shorter than 66 inches and older than four found a Friday night Costco Limbo Party. Checkout was fast once we got placed and settled. The checkout staff ordered a manager-looking individual for escort and load warnings to speedy cart wheelers on our way to the exit door. Thank You! Then The Queen put the green highlighter srltripe on our receipt, certifying we had successfully loaded and paid for four eight foot rolling shades, from Costco, on a Friday of National Panic. I love Costco and whenever I'm not in my hood, I google to search if there are any Costco's nearby. I am never in Avondale but I happened to be today and so had to go. All Costcos sell their Kirkland brands and their famous $5 rotisserie chicken, but each warehouses stock items based on local demographics and demand. I just knew this location had to have items that my local one doesn't carry. This location had the usual items but I did find some unique items like the tajin chili and lime watermelon rings ( sample), Cacique Crema Mexicana, Pete's Shrimp Ceviche, and Mexican treats. 52.9 oz kimchee was on sale for $5.99 so of course I had to get it so I can make some kimchee pancakes. They also had some fresh sliced beef short ribs for $9.99/lb. I make some delish galbi with it. This is the only location that I've seen a propane cylinder refill station. I know, I need to get a life but I just love Costco:) read more

This location is a fairly standard Costco. Costco stands behind the products they sell. This means higher quality products, and a liberal return policy. Kirkland brand products are made by national brands. Costco's policy is that the store brand products be equivalent or better than their named counterparts. Inventory can change frequently. If there is an astrict on the price tag, more of that item is not expected to come back. If you find an item you like, and the price tag is marked as such, stock up. Outside departments include bakery, pharmacy, hearing aid department, optical, tire center and gas station. Propane tanks are refills are available near the tire shop. Free air for tires is also available near the tire shop. Food court located inside, with indoor seating. The hotdog and soda combo is still $1.50 (plus tax.) This price hasn't changed in over 30 years. Pizzas may be ordered in advance. I will say that we have yet to have a pizza order be ready when requested. Even when the order is placed days in advance. The Avondale Costco is always busy. My last visit was on a Saturday. (I know, I know. I had a new prescription to fill.) That meant long lines to check out, and long lines to exit the store. I have had several negative experiences here interacting with employees. When I tried to go through the exit to use the restroom (because it's much closer than going through the entrance and trying to navigate through people standing in the long checkout lines) I was stopped and turned away. The workers said it was their policy to not let people through to use the restroom. That irked me. Another time an item I was purchasing came up the wrong price. When I pointed it out to the cashier she sent someone to check. My price was indeed verified but the cashier acted like it was a huge hassle to change it. She was irritated and did not apologize. I have always had great experiences with the customer service counter and the tire center crew. I'm not sure if they receive the same employee training as the rest but I feel like more effort can be put into helping the employees be more kind. Today I visited this location and was given a hard time about walking thru the exit to get to the food court. I understand this was probably procedure and rules are rules, that's not my issue. I shopped there and then purchased a pizza and then went out to my car to put my groceries away first because it looked like it would be quite a wait to get your food. But when I returned I tried to go thru the exit I was given a hard time about going thru the front first to scan my card. So I was totally okay with it, I excepted it and was not rude I understood this was probably just there policy. But after going through the front to get to the food court area, I got my pizza and headed towards the exit I got to the same woman who gave me a hard time and she just let me go right through without checking my receipt, even after stopping to let her check it she just gave me the cold shoulder and wouldn't look at me like she was wanted me to leave already. (MIND YOU I WAS NEVER RUDE) I don't understand this at all, why give me a hard time about going through the exit and then just let me go through without checking anything I bought all nonchalant? I think this was poor people skills and don't think she needed to give me such a hard time if she was gonna just throw there policy out the window the second time around. read more

Can't beat Costco for great deals. I usually go in for one or two items but end up walking out with many more. It pays to walk around and see what's on sale. Many items they have are unavailable after they sell out so if you see it and like it, buy it. I find some very good bourbon at Costco but every Costco has different ones available. While the shopping experience was fine, the customer service was not! While I was waiting for my pizza in the food court, I noticed a worker yelling at an elderly couple! What made it even worse was that the couple didn't even speak English so instead of getting a bilingual co worker to help calm down the situation the worker decided to raise his voice and insult them! Truly outrageous and disgusting that Costco would allow such an aggressive person working in customer service. The young worker was wearing a red and blue sports jersey with glasses, a chain, and Curley hair, he looked no taller than 5'11. He was telling this elderly couple things like "who is the cashier here, me or you?" and just flat out being rude, it was over a simple question as well as the couple was just asking if they got charged double because they did not understand how to order via the self ordering station of the food court. This review is specifically about something that occurred yesterday (Saturday, Aug 10), and the five stars are more specifically because of two workers (a Manager named Troy and a nice lady that I do not know her name, unfortunately). I called on Thursday to order pizzas and a cake for my son's 18th birthday party that was being held on Saturday evening at 8:00 pm. I was able to place the order for 10 pizzas and gave them a pickup time of 7:30 pm on Saturday. For the cake I had to go into the store and fill out an order form, also writing a pickup time of 7:30 pm on Saturday. I arrived at Costco on Saturday evening just before 7:30, and those of you more familiar with their hours of operation will automatically know that I encountered a very locked up store. I was in a panic because I had a large group of people waiting for me to arrive with pizza and cake, and didn't know what I was going to do. I saw a lady get into her car near the door and pulled up to ask if she worked there. She did, and when I explained that I was there to pick up an order she immediately got on her walkie talkie and requested a manager to the door to help me out. Troy is the manager who came to the door and he immediately jumped into action even though, as he told me, they don't even do pizza orders for Saturdays. Long story short, there was no pizza to be had though my cake was made and ready for me, and Troy threw in 4 packages of muffins for my trouble (he did not allow me to pay for any of it), after scouring the back for something that would work to replace the needed pizzas. I'm not sure what happened with at least two employees (1 pizza area, 1 bakery) not recognizing that the desired pickup time for my orders was past their closing time, but I am truly grateful for the help of Troy and the nice lady in the parking lot in a situation that, to me was unfathomable. There is not always the ability for there to be a solution we want, but having people who are so helpful and caring in a tough situation is worthy of mention. read more

I was at the Avondale, AZ, location on Monday Oct. 6, 2025 to return a dead car battery for the core charge. I had the dirty, heavy old battery in a shopping cart and was told I could not go to the tire center without going through the enter door and scanning my card, then picking my way through the checkout lines and past the food court to get to the tire center. This policy is STUPID and unnecessary. I spoke to a manager, Tony, and a front-end supervisor who both insisted this was company police and offered no help. Then while I was standing in line at the tire center another supervisor (wearing a red vest from the membership desk) approached me and told me, l was wrong for going in the out door and continued to argue with me after I had already told him that I spoke to Tony. I reiterated my belief that this was a STUPID policy. I was approached by another member after my transaction who had a similar issue. This lack of common sense and poor customer service needs to be addressed. read more

I have been to many Costco's before, but this experience was by far the best I have ever had. We have been looking for a Dining Room Table and Chair set, and we found a floor model display priced at a 50% discount . We spoke to Supervisor Mike and he explained that if we wanted to purchase the set, we would need to return today and pick it up. When we returned for the pick up, Mike had it loaded on a moving dolly for us and rolled it out to our truck. All together, we spent about 4 hours today at this Costco, and had several interactions with Mike. He was professional and helpful each and every time. Max was another employee who assisted us, also great. I have to mention that because Thanksgiving is next week, the store was extremely busy, with lines of people waiting to park and pay for merchandise. With all of this going on, the store operations were very efficient. We had interactions with other employees today too - all positive. The employees here are extremely rude, everyone from the front door greeters to the check out people. There definitely needs to be more training on how to respectfully talk to your customers. They had new scanners to get into the store and I was trying to get my card out of my wallet while the greeter yelled at me to be prepared before walking up. It didn't take me more than 2 seconds to close my purse before scanning the card so that comment was unnecessary. Then as we were checking out, we spearated the order into two separate checks. The guy just standing to count the items thought it was appropriate to tell me "You better pay for both" as I was the one who scanned my card. Excuse me? Have been going to this Costco for 6 yrs now. Never an issue. Employees are usually friendly and helpful. As I was picking up my cooked chicken today I mentioned to the employee that the chickens are always undercooked around the bone area. He said " Oh Really" but it was condensing. I understand these are big chickens and the legs are pulling away. That does not mean the inside is fully cooked. I just cut mine up and it was undercooked. I don't mind because I only buy these when I am using it in a recipe that needs to be cooked. I will never buy one to just eat. When I mentioned OSHA wouldn't be so happy he didn't seem to care. What's there not to love about Costco. Free samples are fresh to the max and $5 rotisserie chicken never go up in price no matter the state of our economy. Let me start from the beginning we were shopping with my sister card cause she was sick and had to stay home. So we took the card and shopped like normal cause we needed things.
