This was one of my last stops in this area before I decided it was time to start trekking back home. I only needed a few more things that I could not find elsewhere and I wanted to make sure I grabbed them while I was out because I was not making another trip. I stopped in for a few mostly grocery type things while on a trip on the area. It was a typical Walmart and I didn't have any issues. They had what I needed, staff was friendly and self check out was fast and easy, even with buying beer. I didn't see any cashier lanes, only acres of self check out so not sure if you have the option to do non-self check out. It wasn't too crowded and parking was easy. What a horrible experience! I know Walmart is not known for their customer service, but this is the worst, beyond bad, among the worst..... you're setting up many customers for a horrible experience and a complete waste of their time. When you close at 11 PM and allow entry into the store up 11 PM, there were no announcements that the store was closing. I thought I was in good shape when walking up to the registers and looked in my watch to notice that it was solve at 11:04 PM (again there were no announcements, I just happen to look at my watch). There was a group of about 10 employees just standing around. Not only did they refuse to help me, they were extremely rude and nasty. It certainly felt like they enjoyed being unhelpful, wasting my time, and even embarrassing me in front of a group of their coworkers. It was dehumanizing. Something I've never dealt with before at store. They refuse to even hold the items until tomorrow morning..... if you're gonna close at 11 PM, you should keep your registers open at least until 11:15 PM .... Or otherwise, If you're gonna shut down the registers at 11 PM to stop allowing entry at at 10:45 PM. What do you tell customers to walk in at 10:59? Perhaps you say, " hope you have your running shoes on, you have 30 seconds to get to the registers". I'm sure no one says that, it would be too courteous for Walmart. This is the first time I've ever written a negative review. I usually use my time to promote positive experiences. I know I'm not an unreasonable person. Walmart seems to have lost touch with what's important. Since they couldn't hold my merchandise and I have to do my shopping all over again, I might as well go to a competitor. A retailer that actually cares about their customers and doesn't find joy in the horribly unreasonable treatment of others. Why would any retailer keep their doors open until 11 PM and then shut down the register exactly at 11 PM. I understand you don't want customers there all night, but why not give them 10 or 15 minutes to get what they need and get to register. It was your employees that allow entry until 11pm, but not give them five minutes to get what they need and make it to a register (to add insult to injury conclude the experience with being rude, unhelpful, and unapologetic). The worst experience I've ever had in a store. You should close your store at 10:30 PM, if you allow such nasty treatment to your customers if they check out at 11:01 PM. We're at #MIN and making an announcement so your customers have a fighting chance. I spend more money at Walmart than I like to admit. Normally shop during the day, however, this experience, shopping at their closing time, has made me question if I'll ever return. read more

Martinsburg Walmart (800 Foxcroft Ave) beware for they attempt to sell outdated items and produce that they claim they don't sell. Received which appeared to be 6 green hard Bannas with my curbside pickup that after 6 days showed no sign of turning yellow. They claimed they didn't sell this product to me nor could explain what it was, wasn't a Banna or a plantain. Open products, missing or damaged that Walmart.com refunds (purchase is verified by order #) for but if in store purchase a receipt must be furnished. Today 03/05 a 60count box of eggs yielded 22 broken eggs, over a third of its contents. I expect 1 or 2 maybe 4 in 60 but not 22. An item purchased never made it to my home even though I turned the carousel twice. Walmart.com nor the store would help. read more

Horrible place, run away. There are about 30 self-checkout registers and one incompetent person handling everyone at these registers. You will not find any registers with actual Walmart employees scanning your things. If you have a large cart, you'll be the one to scan and bag everything. And if you need help, you won't get it. They'll yell at you if you request help. I asked someone for help and she said "we're short, I'm the only one here so you'll have to wait". I think I had bought beer (or something) and she had to scan her badge so I could leave, and I had been waiting for about 20 mins. The Manager with purple hair did nothing when I asked if they could call someone for help (there were many people like me waiting after scanning their things). I will never come back to this place. Will go to MARTIN'S around the corner even if it's more expensive. I don't care. read more

Today I went to return some items purchased online and shipped by Walmart but Kayla...the store manager told her customer service associates that she is not returning the items in her store. So yeah I'm going back to this particular Walmart to return. So Kayla...you may want to understand the return policy before denying a return. This location is one of my favorites. Staff is the same as any location. Treat people with respect and kindness and you will receive the same in return.Parking is easy in and out as the lot is not littered with curbed grass islands. The lot is extra large and accommodates rv's, Commercial trucks, and personal vehicles nicely. Walmart's provide a shopping experience available nowhere else. I've been stopping at this location for 14 years as the operator of a semi truck pulling 53 foot trailers. I spend the night at Walmart's +80% of the nights on the road. I've always been impressed with the cleanliness of the parking lot here. Anxiously waiting for hours to go back to open 24/7 as I normally shop around 0400 in the morning to avoid the crowds. We spent $276.34 in your store processed by one of your cashiers and not self checkout. Where do I begin with how awful this Wal Mart is? Let me first say that I do understand we are in a Pandemic and life has changed. That being said and understood, why is it that surrounding Wal-marts manage to offer actual people to ring up our items in addition to offering the option of a self check out, while the Wal Mart in Martinsburg WV thinks its offering excellent "customer service" by granting its "valued" customers one option, and thinking we, as said customers should be greatful? Not only that, but heaven forbid one tries to check out at a register that won't let a customer pay with cash. For that, I received the extra added bonus of waiting in an extra line while some "cashier" proceeded to take me to another line and take 15 extra minutes to pay for my order. This has happened twice. And not only has it happened twice. Its happened while so called employees have stood around in their self importance and talked about the weather. This walmart was acceptable enough during my visit to Martinsburg. My mom said it's the lowest rated walmart in the country. LOL. I said it can't be worse than the one in Landover.. Now has the latest Walmart decor, and looks great, its only drawback being that it's not open 24 hours anymore, which is surprising, considering that this store is not in Maryland. I suppose as Wal-Mart's are concerned, this is just about as average as the rest of them. The parking situation can be a nightmare, as can the lines. Plan your trip for off peak hours, and you should be alright. read more

I can never tell how I'll be treated there but I can tell you 1 thing for sure. Today I went in there without makeup, in sweat pants & hair not styled & I'm treated like a criminal! I go in there dressed descent & hair & makeup done & I walk around without judgement or feeling like I'm being watched! Plus customer service decided to give me a hard time today. She expected me to stand there while she read a binder full of return policies. I asked 2x for a manager. I was ignored! I was returning a bottle of unopened, still sealed Gas X. I bought the wrong one. So I had to go back to pharmacy area to get the right 1 so she'd exchange it. I couldn't even get a receipt of exchange! Then some young man with a better manicure (long nails) & painted nails (with sparkles) comes out to say it would've been ok for me to return it!!! Separate topic: the store is bare of a lot of products since the big push to shop online then pick up orders. The parking now is catered to pick ups only & don't get me started on checking out! I bought a new pack of Pediasure Sidekicks Clear from this walmart yesterday for my toddler. When we got home I gave one to him and one to his brother. Neither of them finished their drinks. I then put the drinks in the fridge so that maybe if they were cold it would taste better to them. Still no luck in getting him to drink it. So I tasted it. It tasted absolutely disgusting. After looking at the package, I discover that it expired in October 2014! It is February 2015! And this was the first front facing package in the INFANTS section! I woke up in the middle of the night last night to my small toddler vomiting! This is absolutely unacceptable! This has to be by far the worst Wal-Mart I have ever been to. I ordered a bed room set for my daughter and it was to be delivered to the "Site-to-store" within this Wal-Mart. I showed up and waited at the counter for over 40 minutes before I cornered (Yes I mean cornered) an employee to find someone to assist me in picking up my shipment. During this entire time I was passed by several Wal-Mart employees and was completely ignored (two of them being managers). As an employee, I was taught that you treat the customer with the utmost respect, you are there to serve them. The worst Walmart store I have ever been in! There is virtually no customer service or customer appreciation in this store. Also, they close at midnight. I live in the area and try to avoid this store, however, a few weeks ago, I thought I would give them one more chance.... I should have known better! As usual, there was no help to be found out on the sales floor. Then, after an hour of filling my cart with items to purchase, I get up to the checkouts, and there is only ONE checkout open for more than 20 items (even the self-checkouts were closed). After standing in a line that didn't move for 15 minutes, I asked an employee walking by to please ask a manager to open another lane. I stood in line for another 12 minutes before I decided I had to leave (without purchasing my cart of items), as this line was still not moving and no other line was being opened. I moved to Martinsburg from Cumberland in July, previously I lived in Carlisle, PA and frequented the Walmarts in those towns for comparison.
