I really appreciated the customer service that he displayed‼ As I was preparing to leave the store, I realized that I needed some more things & literally walked into an employee by the name of Desi (Desiree) W. who exhibited such hospitality & great customer service that I literally stopped my busy day to find a manager to speak on it! I went to Walmart on Thursday, September 18, 2025, to pick up dog food and decided to grab a deli chicken for dinner. When I got home and tried it, the chicken was extremely dry, as if it had been sitting under the heat lamps all day. The skin was so tough it actually cut my gums. I considered returning it, but the cost of gas and time wasn't worth it. I even peeled off some meat to give to my dogs, and they wouldn't eat it. That says a lot. This was my first and last time buying anything from their deli. If they prepare chickens this poorly, it makes me question the quality of everything else they serve. read more

I went to cashier #op007427. I was standing in line with my sister and her husband because we were doing groceries. I was going to buy some cereal so my sister tells me that she already had it. So i put it on the shelf which i never do because i couldn't put it back where it belonged. ( this was june 6, 2026) and do you know that this rude lady went around us to take the cereal off the shelf and put it under her counter. She wanted us to know she got mad. Like if walmart was going to give her a prize. But she saw some items on the floor and didn't even pick them up. Then i was trying to help her move the items i had forward and with an attitude she raised her hands and told me to just get the bags.​ I don't argue with old people but the next time i go to walmart manager Rigoberto i am going to ask to talk to you. I haven't been in this WalMart since 2019 at least. I ran inside with my better half in April of this year to pick up a cooler. It was a Saturday, lines were very long in self checkout, cashier checkout was even longer. Experience was "okay". The self checkout clerk was friendly and pleasant as we needed a security tag removed. This past Friday, I ran in as I wanted to do a fair review and felt my April visit was a grab and go. To begin - the washroom in the back of the store was immaculate. A lady coming in when I was exiting, had probably the same look I did when I saw how clean it was. She commented to me how clean it was - so kudos to who handled the cleaning this past Friday mid afternoon. I know it can't be easy with the daily traffic in and out - and this was by far the cleanest I have seen any washrooms in big box stores in a long while. That washroom is what took my review up a full star. Store was crowded - as is typical. I noticed the Burger King at the entrance was closed. Not sure how long but would be nice have a food option as in day's past when WalMart had their own restaurant inside. Two things I noticed, actually three: 1 - prices on shelves - I'd guess over half things I looked at, there were no prices on the shelves. I can appreciate prices are going up daily it seems and those tags probably also fall off but maybe WalMart will get the digital pricing. If it didn't have a price, I didn't purchase it - which resulted in about half of my shopping not done at WalMart Friday. 2. frozen food - oh my - was quite the hodgepodge and not ideal. Things were just piled up on top of each other in many cases. As in no display - just stacked up various products on top of each other. I know the volume of people is never ending but looking at the stacks of boxes was a bit concerning. Also, it seemed to me the frozen meals were now kind of all over the place and stacking was not uniform. Some boxes face out, some boxes end out. It was difficult to glance and find meals. Endcaps - seemed to fare better. 3. bakery - seemed to be less bread choices including dinner rolls. the ciabatta I bought was very fresh. Produce - overall was decent. The pre-made salad I bought and brought home was fresh. Checkout - I was in and out quickly. No wait at all compared to my visit in April. I wasn't greeted by anyone - I think there were employees at the entrance when I think back but they were talking to each other so I don't know if they were greeters or not. All in all, both visits were what I would consider average visits, but oh the cleanness of that bathroom Friday :) read more

Finally had to call customer service hitting 6 hours after order was promised only for them to say my $200 will be delivered in the morning. WTF! I'm never purchasing anything from this store again. After shopping here for years you can tell that probably within the last 7-12 months there has been a stark change in management for the better. Employees seem to be more aware of their responsibilities and increased professional customer interactions. Store is cleaner including bathrooms. Management seems to have redesigned spaces to include possible theft prevention measures. I enjoy this store now. The only thing I would suggest is to turn that music down. It's not necessary for an enjoyable shopping experience. Keep up the good job managers. read more

I took my daughter to the Walmart Vision center. Not sure why I continue going to Walmart considering we have great insurance but that's neither here nor there. Any way, my daughter was getting an exam and needed an updated script for glasses. As she as getting her exam, I sat down with a woman to start the paper work. First they processed my information using the name of a customer that didn't show up so they couldn't find my insurance. Then they realized the mistake and ran my insurance again. She couldn't find me in the system. She told me I would have to pay out of pocket and submit a claim. I wax annoyed considering I paid $70 for the exam and was about to pay $125 for glasses out of pocket. After sitting there for 20 minutes, I decided to call my insurance company to validate I do indeed have insurance. That's when she said oh I can calm them to verify after I already paid. Guess what, my vision insurer confirmed I did have insurance and instead of paying over $200 my out of pocket was only $15. The women here are very lazy and should have done their job before hand by verifying my insurance information. I won't be going back to Walmart vision again. read more

In these isles they are shopping carts everywhere that nobody is using nobody is trying to put up I can't even go into the fitting room to try something on When it comes to The freezer isles there's hardly any like nobody has restocked we are still strawberry, blueberry toaster strudels and etc. it's very hard to fine stuff even for the baby formula nobody restocks it I shouldn't have to go to Stracks or a different Walmart or target to get certain stuff for this Walmart is right here next to my house and next to my job it's very convenient for me. read more

Typical Walmart but terrible! I came here yesterday to grab a few things since I was in the area. First, this store isn't practicing social distancing at ALL & the store itself is filthy. The lines were extremely long, and the wait was 30 minutes to an hour literally. Most of the staff was very helpful and presented great customer service, especially the greeter when you first come. * I couldn't get his name* but, his energy was amazing & he didn't let anyone take that away. 2 stars in general; 3 for having what we needed and for friendly service. We were looking for Throwback Pepsi, which is hard to find in Ohio (in 12-packs, anyway.) None at Target, couldn't get to Meijer easily, and though we avoid Walmart it supposedly had the pop. And indeed it did. And it was on sale. We loaded up. The store was the usual Walmart craziness, as was the parking lot. We got in and out as fast as we could. Checkout lady was super friendly and funny. read more

The curbside grocery service is awful. I've used the service for years and even prior to Covid the wait times upon arrival have been ridiculous. Why send a notification that your groceries are ready for pick up and upon arrival you have to wait for over an hour? The systems should take into account wait times. Today I waited an hour and a half and it would have been longer if I hadn't gotten out my car and asked for the manager. I will no longer be utilizing this service and I strongly recommend you prepare yourself for a LONG wait or simply use the delivery service. read more

Do NOT go here for grocery pickup! We had a pickup scheduled today between 4 and 5pm. The order was ready at 4:10pm. My husband arrived at 4:40pm and checked in immediately. At 5:30pm he still didn't have groceries, nor had an attendant even come outside to ask him about his order. He knocked on the pickup door several times, and also called customer service a few times as well (nobody answered the phone). He eventually went inside to speak to customer service who referred him to another worker that told him that he "needed to finish picking 2 other orders" before getting our already completed order (?????) and swiftly ran away. He came back after several minutes, looked right at my husband, then walked away again without saying a word. At 6:10pm (a full 2 hours after our order was marked as ready) he finally left WITHOUT groceries due to no assistance or resolution to our missing pickup order. Frankly, we are horrified at the experience we have had at this location. In the amount of time spent for this fiasco, we could have gone inside, shopped ourselves, and gotten out of the building in less time. Thanks to the Merrillville Walmart, we still don't have groceries and have to plan for another method of getting the items we need. Just absolutely abysmal service and we wouldn't recommend their location in the slightest. read more

This store has two police officers working the store. They are doing absolutely nothing about controlling social distancing at the checkout lines. It was terrible! People were so close to each other you could not push a cart down the two isles in front of the registers. Walmart needs to do a lot more than require masks at this store. So with the impending day coming ( 2/27/2010 ) I had to get a 3 Tier wedding cake fast and on a budget ! LOL....... I didn't even know WalMart sold Wedding Cakes ! not only did they have the exact freakin' cake I just looked at , at another bakery and it was priced at $500 with no filling ( everybody wants to be a comedian with that kind of price tag for a cake ). Good ol' Wally world had the same damn cake and they went the extra mile and took a color sample from a ribbon we had and matched the cake to it. The grand total on my 3 tier cake to feed 200 guest's was $140 ! hahhahahhahaaa only in Indiana at the 24 Hour Walmart on RT 30. They were nice and it was a quick and painless process and the cake was really good and fresh. I ordered the cake on a Tuesday and it was ready on Saturday morning. Priceless - read more

First, I like the prices at Walmart, and I'm sure that's the reason people shop there, however, I am reminded each time I visit that the Walmart in Northwest Indiana at Hobart has the rudest customer base I have EVER encountered! Also, the management I complained to are wimps when it comes to controlling people queuing up at the cash registers. On a recent visit (12/8) while in a line of approximately 25 customers--30 minute wait--rude people cut in line so many times the gentleman in front of me called for a manager. The Manager said, "Well, we can't do anything about that, but YOU can." When asked to rope off the queue line to make it more fair the manager said, "Well, we just don't have any way to do that, and we are not allowed to ask the customers to stay in an orderly line." WHAT??? When I took charge and asked those cutting in line to "GET IN LINE...THE BACK of THE LINE" they rudely pushed their way up to the front like animals....waving the rest of us off. This is why Northwest Indiana--and I am talking about Merrillville, Gary, Hobart-- has attained a reputation for people who act like they somehow are entitled to be rude. Beggars accost you at the door and all over the lot. Some lady who asked me for money and was refused ran a baby carriage in front of my car for insurance money I can only assume. Smashed the drivers side door on a pole in the lot at the end of the parking spot. Took 1 hr and 3 calls to get to the person to tell me that I needed in security. Another half hour to be told that person was in a meeting and would call back later. They also told me that they try to control the lot, but these people are out there hustling every single night. They even described a few of the regulars to me, which means they know whats going on. $500 deductible, need a rental for at least a week. Because I stopped at this trashy walmart for lunchmeat. Don't shop here unless you like your insurance to go up or want to catch a case from a scammer. read more

I just had one of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with a retail chain. I went to buy an airgun scope for my sons rifle. I found one with the price below marked $29.92. They wouldn't let me pay in sporting goods and had to go up front. I go to self check and the price comes $31.74. The lady in self check says there is nothing she can do. I asked for a manager. The manager came 10 minutes later and radio's sales associate Aresa in Sporting goods. Aresa radios back the manager and says she is unable to find the scope, or the price. I tell the manager that I will go all the way back to Sporting goods. In going back I find Aresa, who was trying to leave the department. I asked her if she was the one that spoke to the manager about the scope. She answers, "Well first of all Hello, and the manager didn't tell me what was actually being price checked." I felt like answering her back that all I need her to do is verify the price and checkout, but kept my mouth shut. I had another associate ring me out and verify and change the price to what was shown on the shelf. I won't be back and to Aresa's manager, please teach her some respect. In my opinion she shouldn't be dealing with Customers at Merrillville Walmart, or any Walmart for that matter. read more

I'm an asian person and I haven't had asian food in weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!! do you know what that means??????????????????????? It means I was near death. I'm okay now cuz when I came back to the city, my honey treated me to dinner at Big Bowl.... the shittier one on cedar. So in near death experiences such as these, I turn to "oriental" food sold in places such as this. AKA Wal-mart's deli section, when in the land of no asians, AKA Indiana... except in their little nail salon in the Wal-mart, or if I looked in the mirror. They serve a General Tso's Chicken and I got me a pound of that. It was either that or chugging soy sauce. It was so delicious at the time but if you want me to compare.. it's about the same caliber as Panda Express, perhaps worse. But in times like these, beggers can't be choosers and everything tastes so magical and amazing when it's not a burger or some sucky sandwich. It's been sooooooooo long since I've visited a Wal-mart!!!!!!! I've missed it sooooooo much so this visit was very comforting. The employees here were so helpful and friendly telling me to have a great day and thanking me for visiting!! and for all those so against Wal-marts: how about you shut your face. I'm out early today at 8:30am for a few items . I've notice this particular Walmart was designed differently from others as usual. Since I'm not familiar with this store I was searching for bubble cushion . I notice a worker who was stocking shelves and I said excuse me, then I notice she ignored me? She continue to stock the shelves . I said it again excuse, she said hmmm ( and didn't even look at me or acknowledged). I stood there for a few minutes and she still didn't look at me or say as their shirt states: may I help you? At this point , I walked away feeling disgusted in how Walmart employee ( blonde hair lady with her pull in a ponytail with glasses , working in houseware/by the fishing equipment) has poor customer service . I'm wondering how many people do Walmart lose on average with employees such as this? Customer service training is definitely needed. read more

I was here yesterday around 2:30 at self checkout and I scanned some beef patties which happened to be opened so I called the lady over there to take them off she tries to scan the item and tells me she can't take it of cause it's not popping up that I scanned AS IM SITTING HERE POINT AT THE SCREEN WHERE IT SAYS BF PATTIES 9.82 and I even asked the "worker" if she want to check my cart since it's such and big deal then I tell her to get a manager cause she can't do her job .she ended up not even coming back with a manager and telling me there's nothing she can do so I told her to give me the patties back cause I'm not paying for something I don't have and she said "I can't sell these to you "then I proceed to point at the screen again where I was being charged for them and I've been in self checkout for about 25-30 mins now and I was a charged for a item I never brought home and if she would of got a manager they would of seen that there was beef patties on there and took it off that simple. Never coming to this Walmart again you need to retrain some of your employees and Walmart is lucky it was only 9.82 cause I would sue y'all cause what happened yesterday was just wrong ! read more

I'm so frustrated with this Walmart & I generally don't even bother doing 1 star reviews for any business because I understand things go wrong sometimes. But I have been to this place at least 30 times and have never once had a good experience. I won't bore you with all of the experiences, but I will mention 1 that set me off to write this post. I went in for "quick" trip to the deli for turkey around 3pm on a Thursday and no one was waiting in line at the deli and there were 2 people behind the counter. One was on the phone and the other was talking to someone down at the very end of the counter. I THOUGHT it might have been a customer she was talking to so I was just waiting my turn, but after waiting for 10 minutes, I started listening to their conversation to figure out what was going on. It was definitely someone that she knew (friend or family) and she was cussing at him. Honeslty like "F" you and "F" that. And it started getting really loud so it was awkward for everyone. I started walking away because I was over it and didn't have time to wait any longer. When she noticed me walking away, she yelled out "What do you want?" in the rudest tone. And I really didn't think she was talking to me but I looked over anyways and sure enough she was. I tried to be as nice as possible about it, but I said I didn't want anything now since it seemed to be such an issue. She then started saying things under her breath about me to her "friend" so that was that. I'm glad I didn't get anything, but not happy to have wasted 15 minutes of my life on her or this Walmart location. No one has ever been anything but rude here & I just would not recommend it to anyone! I know it's Walmart and it is what it is, but I just don't think anyone should be blatantly rude!
