I would like to provide feedback about the experience that I had tonight at the Walmart at 2151 Royal Ave, Monona, WI 53713. This happened on 12/1/18 around 12:30 AM. This is the second negative experience that I have had at this store this week. Here is what happened: After selecting items, I proceeded towards the front of the store to pay. Since it was early in the morning there was only one standard register open, lane 23, & self-checkout. Both lines were long. I stood in the line for self-checkout for around 15 min. Once getting closer to the front of the line, I saw that the majority of the self-checkout registers were not functioning. Out of the all of the self-checkout registers (~10), maybe there were 2 that were working. All of the registers were not accepting cash but only cards. Since I was paying with a card, I was instructed to use an open register that was "working". My total came to $20.54 & I paid $20.00 by gift card. For the remaining $0.52 I attempted to use a debit card but the reader did not read the card. An employee that was nearby watched me try again with no success. The employee tried the card with no success. The employee directed me to her manager that was nearby but he ignored effort to get his attention. After waiting another 5 min with no help, I decided to leave the remainder in cash & walk towards the exit. After almost reaching the door, the manager starts shouting that I need to come back because my transaction is not finished. I came back & tried to explain to the manger the situation. He was extremely rude & shouting at me during the entire interaction. Instead of accepting the cash or finding another register to process the remaining payment, he instead insisted that I go to lane 23 & wait in line again to checkout. There were at least 15 people in line at register 23. He than voided my transaction, making the large line of other customers wait instead of focusing on fixing the issues with the many other broken registers. He provided no receipt or proof that the money was returned to my gift card. Instead of wait in line again to recheck out I decided to leave the store without making a purchase. In my opinion, the customer service that I received & that was provided to the other customers around me was very unsatisfactory. In addition to this it does not make very good business sense. One of the items that I was trying to purchase was milk, ~$4.00. With all of the chaos, by the time that milk will be put back in the cooler it will likely spoil & cost more than the remainder on the transaction. I feel unvalued as a customer. I am providing this feedback because it an example of the terrible customer service that is being delivered by this store. read more

This place is going downhill. They need more checkout lanes open or at least get the self check machines working. It would not hurt if they cleaned the place either. read more

The heat is not working in the store and I hear may not be fixed until Thursday, it is Monday now. The temps are in the single digits and below 0 all week and the store is now only 38 degrees. Too cold to shop for an hour much less work there for 8 hours, but they won't close, fix the heat, or give each employee a little heater to use. read more

I frequent this store often. Always seems they are out of something. Check outs are super slow. Plus always park by garden center as don't feel safe always. read more

Do not buy anything from Walmart.com!!! Lied about delivery date, couldn't help when go to store to pick up and make you call yourself and sit on hold. Ordered on cyber Monday not arriving until Christmas Day...but they are closed that day so can pick it up the day after Christmas. Tell that to a kid on Christmas without a gift! This store is AWFUL! There are NEVER any registers open, you can NEVER find an employee when you need one and when you do they look at you like your stupid because you cant find anything! They never sell any clothing in a size smaller than an XXL. They are always out of stock of EVERYTHING. I will not be shopping here anymore read more

Their produce is usually pretty good, and the meat is ok. Nothing out of the ordinary though. No exotic ingrediants.

This Wal-Mart used to be one of my favorites and then the environment ruined it for me. I don't even come to this Wal-Mart anymore. I'm not sure if it's because of the surrounding neighborhood or the area it's in but I always get terrible service, no help with finding anything, and when I was in the crafts area trying to get fabric, the woman was rude and she just didn't want to be there. Calling this place is even more ridiculous. No one ever answers and then you get passed around from department to department and the person doesn't even know where anything is. How helpful is that? Anyway, the parking ramp is terrible because you can barely see all of the people walking about. I think it needs to be more lit up in there. They allowed panhandlers to ask for change right at the front entrance when you park in the ramp and that's just terrible. The panhandler lied about being homeless and a veteran and hungry and whatnot... he was even in a wheelchair! but as soon as my sibling gave him money, we were standing behind him while he was STANDING there buying a pack of cigarettes and some booze. Terrible. I told the cashier that he was standing out front in a wheelchair begging for change and she didn't notify anyone. Anyway, they accept credit cards, the lines are pretty long but they cal staff up to assist, they have self checkout, and lots of parking. read more

I went to the Supercenter in monona wi for a simple exchange I was informed that I would not be able to do the "exchange" because of to many unreceipted returns. I thought that the point of a " exchange " is to not return the product. At the same time I was denied the exchange, a lady next to me returned a box from a tv, not the tv, just the box. She had a receipt and received a full refund, for just a tv box. Love the fact that walmart has a 4" tall sign at customer service saying "our customers satisfaction so our goal". In reality this is not the case at all. I feel that it is the bottom line and so the CEO can get his 9,000,000 a year salary. Do what your sign says and take care of ALL the customers. Not just the ones with a receipt and a box. read more

First off, I'm biased. I have never really liked Walmart since I first stepped in one in the early 90's, mainly due to aesthetics, over-packed aisles and the tackiness feel to the stores. My bias turned social, political with them over the years. That said, I've shopped them once or twice per year when I needed a couple items and they were the store in the area or I wanted to "try" them again. I've gone to the Monona store about 3X this year for one or two items and the last time was quite possibly the last for a long, long time. The main issues were quality of employees, customer service, and crammed aisle full of stuff. The staff is something to behold. I swear I went to an 'optional work' place. Two employees "working" were on their personal phones talking (one was swearing), another was texting, another was smoking an e-cigarette and trying to hide it (while working!), one was complaining to another about time off and their boss (on the sales floor!), and none of the other "busy" ones like cashiers looked like they wanted to be there. WOW! Does this store have any management or leadership? Talk about disaffected workers! I almost felt sorry for Walmart. I specifically went in to see if they had perfume for a gift and they did. They keep the "nice" ones in a locked cabinet. I stood around for a few minutes in the main aisle to wait for an employee to ask if they could open the case and none were around! (Too busy texting, smoking, or chatting I guess). I went to the Pharmacy and asked if they could get someone over to unlock the case. The response was "we don't have the keys, that's not my area." That's not what I asked them to do. Finally they did a whole store call for a customer in fragrances who needed the case unlocked. 7 minutes pass by. I wander back to the main aisle, try to grad the attention of an employee on a walkie-talkie, he sees I'm about to say something and starts talking on the radio again and walks past. I wander back to Pharmacy. They make a second all-store call, this time for someone with keys to unlock the perfume case as "customer is waiting." 12 MINUTES later - no one! Yep, I did it a 3rd time!!! Went back to Pharmacy and they were astonished no one was there yet - so they made a generic 3rd call. (Don't you think they should have called the store manager or walked to find the store manager?). After another 5 minutes I gave up on my time investment of about 30 minutes to save $3-$4 on perfume. I walked out. THIS is one of the reasons why I don't go to Walmart. It's fine if you don't need help and can look past the employees who think they "deserve" a job. But, it's hard to look past the overall trashiness of the place and lack of purpose adn customer service. My mom and I get better service at dollar stores. read more

Buyer beware!!!! This place is a joke! I went in to buy my son a pre-paid card for his tax return and I call to set the card up and these people tell me that they "can't verify" my son and he can't get a regular card. Then they still charge me the 5$ monthly fee when I can't use the card? You can barely understand the people that answers the phone, because Walmart gets very cheap labor in other countries. But you can't verify my son who is an American citizen, with a legit SSN. He is 18, works a job, does what he is suppose to and they can't verify him? What a joke. I live off of bare minimal and that 5$ meant something to me. Why do I have to pay when I can only use the 20$ you made me put on it. Then the 5$ fee is ridiculous. People read the fine print. Then the lady told me to buy another one and they again. Right, and loose another 6$ I don't think so. Needless to say be careful when buying these Walmart pre-paid cards they will trick you. Walmart has enough money they don't need mine too. Won't be back!!!!! read more

GOOD PLACE TO GET ROBBED! Although underground parking is great in a snow storm and when surface lot area is scarce, when WalMart does it, it just feels plain trashy. Not lit in the parking area if barely at all, i didn't see a single surveillance camera in the parking area which feels very unsafe as it is, and the pathways of ingress and egress and not very clearly posted. read more

I am trying not shop as much here but when I'm in a hurry, it is very convenient because it is so close to home. I keep a stash of granola and granola bars at work but ran out. I stopped by this place this morning to resupply and went to check out. This is around 7 am and the only available cashier was wayyyyy down by the cigarettes. There were 6 people in line, 2 with full carts. I tossed my items on the conveyor next to the full line and walked out. This store has self check out but is never open at 7am. I would love it if it was open so I can just breeze through. I will be stopping at Woodman's on my way home to pick up what I needed this morning. I am becoming increasingly disappointed with this store. I find that the shelves are never stocked with what I need, the plus sized woman's apparel is just plain ugly. I can't remember the last time I bought clothes there. Walmart, I am done with you. read more

This Super Walmart center is convenient to shop at, but it's very terrible when it comes to returns and exchanges or anything that has to do with the customer service office. I went to the customer service to do a simple even exchange on an incorrect item I bought, but none of the 2 staff at the customer service at the time knew what to do. Like, if you are put there, shouldn't you know how to do this stuff already? Why are they even put there if they don't even know how to do their job right? That Walmart clearly needs to pay more attention to this with their employees. And there were two of them, two ladies who had no one to help at the time also. Then, I had to wait a long time until what looked like the manager to come in just to tell me that I couldn't return the item because the receipt had some kind of line marking, which I wrote on because I was trying to find the item which I told them. But he stated that an employee already marked it and that it was already returned and in the system when I clearly did not return the item at all like he mentioned. He didn't even bother to look up the information on the computer if it was returned. I could tell that the manager just wanted to get this over with, like I was a bother or something as if he didn't have time for this so he just came up with that excuse to move on to other things as quickly as possible. He could have at least made the effort to really look up if it was returned or not, but clearly didn't and lied to my face. I was going to protest when he interrupted and told me again it was already returned and quickly turned away and answered the phone, clearly ignoring me shortly afterwards. Making me feel as if I was some kind of bad person or something. It made me feel like I was being disrespected. The service was terrible.The lady apologized saying that it was probably already returned before me, when I know clearly that it truly wasn't. They just didn't have the knowledge or time to work on this matter with me. I was so disappointed at the customer service there. It was terrible and an awful experience I would not like to repeat in the future. It is a convenient store, but the staff there is terrible. They need to work on this. The customer service staff there are inexperience as well. Made my experience there not enjoyable at all since. read more
