This place is great to come to. You get a higher quality product for a fair price. If you want a high quality olive oil this is your place. Inexpensive flowers to take home to the family, yup. Underground parking to not have to walk in the WI weather, yup. I honestly don't know what you would want that Trader Joe's doesn't have. I always try something new. This time I'm trying the bar soap. I have high hopes but for the price I can't go wrong. It would cost me double to get a quality soap at Woodmans or a Walmart.

Let's get one thing straight: I love Trader Joe's. So much so that me and my college friends took some of our graduation pictures at our local Trader Joe's back in Davis. Trader Joe's is hands down my favorite place to shop for groceries and this one is no exception. Sure, it can be hard to find parking sometimes and on Sundays it's so packed with students and families with children that it can be a little hard to navigate but it's still Trader Joe's. The service here is always solid, even when they're busy they manage to have a lot of stock, and it's a great location with lots of cute restaurants nearby if you're like me and you've realized that shopping hungry is a bad, bad idea. My favorite TJs products include: mochi ice cream, their Moroccan Mint Tea, Soyrizo, Hold the Cone mini ice cream cones, goat cheese, frozen cauliflower rice, dark chocolate covered pretzels, and flavored kombucha. Long live Trader Joe's.

I can't believe I waited so long to go to Trader Joes! My experience exceeded my expectations. Parking was easier than I anticipated and the prices were lower or average compared to other grocery stores in the Madison area. Their flower section was impressive. They are fresh and reasonable priced and they have the best cards! I will definitely be returning to get more cards, flowers, and "Everything but the Bagel" seasoning!

I first visited in May for produce but found the quality and selection underwhelming. Later, I heard they stocked some unique ice cream brands, so I went back to check them out. While I appreciate the unique selection, the prices were pretty steep--likely due to tariffs, logistics, and convenience. There was only a couple of customers on a weekday lunchtime, so it was quiet. Since I make monthly grocery runs to Chicago suburbs, I ended up getting my specialty ice creams there instead. I also browsed their hot food bar but didn't find anything that appealed to me. There's also a small cafe attached where they sell baklava and other sweets. On the plus side, the location is very central with plenty of parking.

I took a picture of the label just in case I forgot all off the goodness in it - perfectly cooked pasta, shreds of good cheese, celery, green pepper, scallions, and apparently some cream along with the mayo. I think I will give it a shot this weekend - hopefully it will be just as yummy.

Surprisingly, they carry a wide selection of international products. I was delighted to find these viral ice creams at the West Side location (there's also one on the East Side of Madison). These ice creams became popular about 1.5-2 years ago. I first tried lemon in LA late 2024 and then mango in Houston earlier this year, but this is the first time I've seen them in an American grocery store. While they're also available at Global Market (an Asian grocery store on the East Side), Woodman's price is unbeatable--just $9 for a box of three, compared to around $12 plus tax in LA. The outer shell is a crunchy white chocolate coating, while the inside is fruity ice cream flavors like mango, peach, lemon, and apricot (no actual fruits). They also offer unique flavors such as durian, grape, and tangerine. It's great to see Woodman's carrying these, hopefully more people will get to try them!

The local cheese selection did not disappoint. We also learned you must pay for your groceries to go into the liquor store and vice versa. If we had more time we works have walked around more but we got what we needed.

I had the prosciutto sandwich and my SO had the pastrami and both had nothing but good things to say as we ate. The prosciutto sandwich had balsamic that had just started to soak into the otherwise crunchy bread, with these big chunks of mozzarella and the freshest tomatoes and greens. Alimentari itself is this awesome little deli/grocer with both bagged pastas AND FRESH PASTA/antipasti available to buy, as well as all sorts of goods, breads, coffees, chocolates, beverages and a whole wine selection. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich, and the gentleman taking my order pointed to a random piece of focaccia on display on the counter and asked if I'd like my sandwich on that. I don't know what kind of bread if normally comes on, but I have since read about the thicker/crustier bread on some reviews. Gosh am I glad he offered the focaccia. The bread made this sandwich, it was sooo good. It was light and fluffy despite being substantial in size, and had this delightful little crunch from the sea salt on it (not in a salty sense, just in a wonderful texture sense). There was a ton of turkey on it and it was a yummy smoked flavor. The other fixings were standard but complimented the sandwich very well. The sandwich was tasty and filling. All this said, because I paid $16 for my sandwich, I wouldn't make it a regular occurrence, maybe a special treat. But if it's on regular bread, particularly a harder crust bread, I think I'd skip it entirely. You do get a lot of sandwich for your money, but I just can't justify it. So, overall, this is definitely worth trying and deciding for yourself - I don't think you'll be disappointed.
