I had never been to this Walmart before, and I honestly just needed a quick snack while I was burning time until family was back from church. I was in town visiting, so I didn't have a place to be while I waited. The store was very clean and put together. I found it to be clean on the outside as well. Shoutout to whoever has the janitorial account, because yall are doing a great job! I found a simple snack in the produce section, but took a stroll to check out the Walmart as a whole (since I had the time to burn). There was plenty to do and a Philly Cheesesteak restaurant in the Walmart, as well as a nail salon and other things. The self checkout was pretty advanced and clean as well! I visited Walmart today to pick up a basket of groceries, only to realize at checkout that I didn't have my credit card with me. I had previously asked if I could leave my basket near the register while I drove home to retrieve it, and an associate kindly said I could leave it there for about 20 minutes -- the time it would take for me to return home and back. As I walked back to my car, I checked for any cash and found only $10. When I returned to the store, I let the associate know that I would put back some of the frozen and cold items and would leave and come back later to complete my purchase. I recently moved to New Orleans and usually keep a credit card in my car specifically for Walmart trips, but not this time. That's when Floor Manager, Erin, stepped in... she overheard the conversation and said, "wait...we can figure this out so you don't have to leave and come back." I was both surprised and incredibly grateful. Erin asked if I knew my card number, and when I said yes, she guided me through downloading the Walmart app step-by-step -- all while multitasking and assisting other associates with their questions and assigning employees to registers for employee breaks. We encountered an error with the app, but instead of giving up, Erin continued troubleshooting with me. She asked smart, specific questions, and eventually identified the problem: my credit card still had my old address. Once we updated it to reflect my new New Orleans address, everything worked perfectly. Erin even took me to a separate register to test the card with a small transaction -- and it was successful! I returned to a regular register to complete my full grocery purchase, but I won't forget Erin's kindness and professionalism. Please know that you have a permanent customer in me, and I'll always be looking for Erin to say a quick "hi" during my visits. As a retired executive, I can confidently say that Erin's dedication, patience, and problem-solving attitude were nothing short of outstanding. Her willingness to go above and beyond left a lasting impression on me. Bottom line: Erin is a fantastic employee, and you are lucky to have her on your team. read more

We visit this location to pickup supplies while we are in town. Great for bottles of water and snacks. Great selection of Mardi Gras decor and t-shirts. Very competitively priced. Selection was different than the Jefferson Hwy location. The store was a lot cleaner than back home. read more

Leave it to me to forget some of my essentials at home, as such, I needed a trip to Walmart. According to Siri it was only a mile from where I was staying, however, I am so glad that I ordered an Uber because it was def like 4 miles away. LoL. Pulling up to the store, the outer appearance is a classic brick front. It has the simple deep brown color which is different from the Walmarts back home. However, once you get inside, the store is bright, vibrant, and super clean. Babeeeeeeeeee, I have never in all my years seen a Walmart this clean. The floors were clean. The shelves were clean, and the staff was clean. I'm jealous, I need this in my home area. LoL. Everything I wanted was in stock and the store had the usual Walmart floor plan that we have grown to know from repetition. LoL. I'll be honest, the Frozen Breakfast Aisle didn't have any frozen breakfast. LoL. I was perplexed as it had meatballs, pizza, and ice ice cream. I promise I turned up and down the aisle about 5 times. LoL! No worries though, I ended up going to the breakfast section in the perimeter area of the store. When it was time to check out, this store had an enclosed checkout area. You walk into the area then pick a register. As with any Walmart, I wish there were more cashiers and/or registers open, however, it wasn't bad. The cashier was super pleasant and understood the art of bagging. One of the absolute worst aspects of living in New Orleans is the fact that the Tchoupitoulas Walmart is one of the only places for budget grocery shopping. The experience of shopping in person is miserable, due to long lines, slow service, and a minimal number of self checkouts. Avoiding this with pickup orders isn't much better. I have waited multiple times for 40+ minutes with no service, and no answers to repeated calls to the store, to the point that I leave and cancel my order. I was recently denied when trying to return an item I ordered online so I had to mail it in instead. The Tchoup Walmart is an unfair embarrassment to the community it should ostensibly serve. read more

Went shopping at 8pm, I needed water and some other items. I seen a male employee stocking water, and I picked up a case to put in my basket. He said with a attitude, you know its the same water. I said, I know, and he mumbled something. He was in his 20s maybe 30. Smelled like weed, and what looked like dreads on his head. I wish I liked this location. It's close and the prices are cheap, but I hate getting treated like I'm stealing something every time I checkout. I usually try to avoid this Walmart, but today I went anyways because I only needed a single pair of pants, and I was reminded why I hate it. The store is so worried about theft from self-checkout, but won't let you checkout with a cashier unless you have cash. Whatever, I expect this. I checkout, receipt and item ready, trying my best to cooperate, and I get scolded at the door for not putting it in a bag. I only had to buy one item, so I skipped the grocery bag like I normally do at every other grocery store so I don't waste plastic. My mistake was forgetting I wasn't at just any grocery store, I was at Walmart. Whatever. My second offense was the tag not matching the price on the receipt. So now, because the tags weren't updated, we have to confirm that the price on the receipt is right, and then I'm finally free... Hurray. I want to stress, I'm not mad at the employee for questioning me, I'm mad at how this Walmart is trying to handle theft and that you're making your employees question me. I wish the store would just get rid of the self-checkout all together, because having to get questioned and your items checked when you leave negates the convenience of self-checkout. read more

Chuckle waith an associate scooting a handicap basket that has no electricity as i Go to restroom, pick up 7 items (eggs, cheese, half n half x2, catfood, and salad mix). Walk to front of store & im Told the registers & store is closed and i cant check out. Its 10:05. I contest no one said a thing, who is gonna put the food back, etc. they let me check out. Que another associate & store lead who has a few items too. She says they are wrong for shutting down all the registers. She checks out after me & tells them they still have customers shopping. For the second time in a row, I ordered for delivery. After the 2 hour window went by, and the driver didn't show, I called. The solution was to refund me but the refund will take 7-10 days. Minus 5 stars. First time in New Orleans, first store I go to; tonight 1-5-24 9pm and every male worker was so rude and unhelpful, it was shocking. I would ask where something is and they would say "over there" and point to the other side of the store and walk away. I asked another guy where dryer sheets were and he said they were all out and I found half a row of them after more looking. Then was checking out and asked where lighters were and it was the same guy with the dryer sheets and he said they were out of lighters and I found them too near the check out. Well... Unfortunately, this Walmart is no longer shoppable and no longer worth the time it takes to get in & out. I guess the locals couldn't stop themselves from stealing at the Self-Checkout Line, so now there is no more Self-Checkout Line; A trip for one or 2 items is now a 30 minute long affair. There is no good day or time of day; the lines are all backed up to the clothing isles. While I'm glad workers are now behind the cash register, it's clear that many of them cannot count money. Recently I witnessed a cashier count & recount a stack of 20's & 1's for 7 minutes. That was it for me. I'm sorry people steal, but these workers are mostly unprepared to be cashiers. read more

I had to call this person because the walmart employee in the electronics area was CLUELESS and no help at all. To converse with a coworker: WALK up to them and talk at a lower volume. I don't think I've come across more than or two Walmarts in the United States that have good service/cleanliness/order etc. This particular store is always a problem. From mismarked inventory on their website and not having in stock to only 2 self service lanes open at 530. You'd think curbside pick up would be easier but no. There are over 30 parking spaces for pick up and not one is ever available. I intentionally use pick up to avoid the Walmart chaos but it turns out there's always chaos. The security crew monitoring the parking lot doesn't assist with having those vehicles moved or towed. Customers do not care which is truly what makes it the worst. I have learned my lesson and will not use Walmart anymore but if it's necessary, I won't use this one. read more

Never seen anything like this before. No one to check you out in the whole store. They have what I call the castle. It's a customer check out for the folks buying liquor. The reason I call it the castle is because it's a 40 ft x 40 ft walled area in the front of store where they have like a liquor store. That is where all the attention is. So all the self served lines which's was about 30 or so was back up with customer checking themself out. I'm from Texas and at least we have 4 line open with a cashier to check you out. Now here's the kicker. After checking and bagging ourselves out $400.00 later. When we went to leave the greeter in the front approached me and wanted to see a receipt. I told him that I don't have to show that and keep walking. The greeter in turned cursed me out saying frack you. Walmart corporate office needs to fix this. I feel like it should be said by someone that Walmart's selling pirated DVDs. I bought a DVD triple feature in the store ( admittedly some time back ) of the Jurassic World movies and when I got the DVD to my apartment, my blue ray player couldn't read the discs. I had to actually Google what the problem was and lo and behold the only thing I could find was saying they are boot-leg or pirated discs. I wanted to buy a Blue Ray of the seven Conjuring movies today but I don't trust that the discs aren't pirated and won't play in my player. I kept the pirated Jurassic World discs as a reminder to myself never to trust Walmart again. Don't fool yourself into thinking they care either! Corporate once phoned me over a bad review and told me to phone that Walmart to talk to a supervisor but guess what? The supervisor conveniently refused my phone calls. Sometimes I wish the Walmart in New Orleans would be shut down forcing me to shop elsewhere. I only shop that Walmart because they're inexpensive on so many items but I'm telling you! If you can afford better, unlike me on disability, buyer beware. That Walmart does NOT care what they are selling you! Everything from broken bicycles to pirated DVDs to nearly expired meats to- The sky is apparently not the limit to how low they're willing to sink to get your money. Ughhhhhh I try to avoid coming here as much as I can, but it is the only Walmart I. The city unless you're trying to go all the way to Gentilly. I mean it's your typical Super Walmart so take that as you will. This review, however, is about COVID guidelines. You must have a mask to enter the store, but once inside, the policy is not enforced. I saw most people (customers AND workers) wearing their masks incorrectly or just around their chins. Social distancing is not enforced. There is one sanitizer station. You can only enter in one door (good) but then can only exit through the same adjacent door(bad)?! And with the entrance policy, people were still entering through the exit door ‍ Y'all, just be careful and take precautions to protect yourself if you MUST go here. Personally, I'm trying to order online as much as possible. But it might just be worth it to drive to Metairie to go to Target ‍ read more

Well, the best thing I can say is that the nearby neighborhood has vastly improved from empty, vacant buildings to renovations and people living and using said buildings in the last 6 years or so. Even though there is life in the area, and a variety of stores, restaurants and bars are opening in the area, there is still an air of something being off in the area, just on the bad side. The parking lot in front is HUGE I tell you. There is a building in front, on the eastern side of the parking lot that is filled with police cars, so I do feel safe somehow. Fully stocked aisles (and yes, in Louisiana, you can purchase hard alcohol in the grocery stores, and in the Wal-Mart **shocking**, get over it). You do have your people of Wal-Mart here, and the people watching is wonderful. The few times I have been here, I have come at peak times. But the checkout lanes are usually quick. I don't really have much to complain about here other than the usual suspects. read more

i do not like this location and feel very uncomfortable when i frequent it, but it is convenient to my home, so i do purchase items there when i have to...if i could get these few items at Rouses or Winn Dixie, i would never come back to this location. Overall, they do have security guards in the front of the entrance, which is needed based on the latest activities that were reported on the news. The cashiers could care less about customer service, as they spend more time on there cell phones and going thru the motions. It is sad that Walmart cannot employ a better workforce or spend more time training...also, it just seems that there is attitude in the air at this location, from the employees and customers...very disappointing..... read more

I've never given a Walmart such a high rating, but they have some insane deals here! Probably the most affordable produce in the city. Bunches of collards and radishes for $1. Ripe mangoes for 48 cents! Tomatoes for 98 cents a lb. Bread for $1. Mini pies for 50 cents. I loaded four shopping bags for $23, and left happy. Parts of the neighborhood are kinda rough. Th is location is easy to find and they have a great variety to choose from. Whether you are a local or tourist they have what you need here. My folks and I went to purchase a pair of shoes, snacks and a birthday card. My only negative review is when you enter the carts are dirty, filled with trash and paper; yes I know it's New Orleans (lol) but this should be a little different and tended to. I'm giving it four stars because my a$$ ate too much food in New Orleans today and I had to come here to get some Tums! This store carried sugar free Tums, so a star for that. They had a huge display of red beans and rice for sale, and I found that funny. Extra star for that. Free parking in a private lot out front. You guessed it, that earns another star.
