Just wanted to give this place a shout out for carrying some seriously quality (even designer) products at an affordable price. I found my mom a gorgeous red turtleneck there as a Christmas gift, and upon reading the label later, it turned out to be Calvin Klein. Score! They also have some interesting international snacks and sweets. Last time, there was an insanely long line... about 20 people deep (the holidays, what can ya do?) but they have plenty of checkers, so they got to me in no time at all. I prefer TJ over Ross any day, this is my local go to. She's pretty organized and with a decent selection of items. TJs and discount stores in general vary stock by location, so keep that in mind. As always the employees are over worked and understaffed, please be kind and patient with them. TJ is a sister store to Home Goods. I've found some really great bargains and beautiful clothing here, so you'll find me popping in when I gotta hit up the Walgreens or WinnDixie near by. read more

The store is always clean and brightly lit, but you should watch the cashiers closely and make certain they put all your scanned items into the bag that they hand you though, because this is the third time I have paid for things that mysteriously did not make it into the bag. This only happens at the Claiborne location, and only happens with small things like beauty tools, lipstick, jewelry. Things like that. I check for holes in the bag, check my car to see if they fell out of the bag, triple checked everything when I got home. Nowhere to be found. Yet again. Next time, I'm going straight to customer service and having them match my items to my receipt before I leave the store because this scam is getting ridiculous. read more

I am really not sure why this location wasn't already on Yelp. It is so beautiful, clean, and always well-stocked. I do not come out this way often, but when I do, I usually stop off in this shopping center. I am giving this location a 4 instead of 5 because there is no bathroom. Unfortunately, this shopping mall is located is an area that some people would consider to be a little sketchy, which means that most of these stores avoid having public bathrooms for many reasons, many of which I understand but don't agree with. In any case, I always find amazing deals here, and I think the management team here is very well-organized. The racks are very easy to navigate, and things seem to be generally in the right place. read more

This still has kind of the new store feel going on. I am kind of surprised at how well maintained it is. It is a bit disorganized, but I came in near the end of the day, and maybe they just had not had a chance to catch up from the day. I was not greeted when I entered the store, I met no employees on the floor to ask how I was doing. Not that I was looking for anything in particular, but still. There was a security officer near the exit, but my bet is that I could have outrun him. There was plenty of inventory to look at. I was looking for shoes on my last visit, but nothing stood out for me that I had to have. There was a decent selection of clothing, but the clearance was not divided by sizes, only the dresses were. The home goods section was well organized, and the shelves were clean (no dirt or dust), which was nice. There is plenty of parking, and it is located in the middle of the strip mall. I can see during the holiday season how the traffic can get congested though. Good store, good location. Not a 5 star experience, but it was not horrible. read more

This department store is definitely underrated. They always have exactly what you're looking for even when you don't know what you're looking for. They don't hassle during returns. Staff is always willing to help. Cleanliness is a big thing for me and the store is always well kept. The only issue is its location. More often than not there are people begging for money outside this strip mall. read more

The only reason this store is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because the manager on duty listened to my complaint and offered to help me herself. The store is also pretty well organized. But it's still relatively new, so give it a chance to fall apart. Otherwise, do not shop here unless you want to deal with rude sales associates who start yelling to other ones about how tired they are when you call them out on their mess up. I went here with a friend and still have to say the housewares selection is mediocre. Every time I've been here it has just been very 'mehhh' overall but this visit was a particularly unique experience. I saw this discarded chicken bone on the floor. It wasn't hidden in the depths of some remote back-of-the-store aisle, it was near the front of the store! A lady saw me taking the picture, noticed why I was taking it, and said "I have to get in on this." Despite several employees being close enough to see it no one noticed the abandoned chicken bone. Let me start by saying, they had the gates closed for entrance 6 mins BEFORE CLOSE! Also, "manager" KAREN A - Horrible. I am still in shock at how rude she was. So surprised she is even a manager there. A couple friends and I went to NOLA this past weekend as a small trip, and little did we know a crazy windy cold front was going to brew in! We spent all day outside and it was miserably cold. Knowing how cold it was during the day, there was no way we would be able to make it in the night with the clothes we brought, so we literally rushed our way to TJ Maxx - in a city unfamiliar to us. We wanted to be real quick in and out. When we walked to the front the gates were closed and the security guard was just standing there looking INSIDE TJ Maxx not outside so he didn't see us. We walked in through the exit because ... it's not closing time yet! He didn't hesitate to say that they are about to close. We go in and end up finding something to wear. Announcer comes on 2x within like a 2 min window saying they are now closed and registers will be closing in 10 mins. We are making our way to the front, and just like any person something catches our eye so we look at it *AS WE ARE MAKING OUR WAY TO THE FRONT* .... then rolls in Karen, IDK why we were targeted?? Maybe bc we were closest to her AS we were making our way to the front but still about 30 ppl left in the whole store. She goes "We're done. We're closing" with the hand jester to the neck like "done." and I was SO in shock. I replied back "10 mins?!" like yall JUST made an announcement in 10 mins the registers are closing. She literally scoffed at me and rolled her eyes and said "yeah ok" and turned around back to the registers. WOW. ??!!??? I work in customer service and know even when it's 5 mins past closing you bite your tongue to provide good customer service, keep retention in customers. I promise this is a story I'm telling my friends who travel to NOLA. And me myself, am NEVER coming back here. Not as long as "Miss Karen" is working here. read more

If I recall, I frequented this business with the lady-friend so she could shop for women's clothing. Products: This is mostly a clothing store. I don't know--I see the designation in Yelp as "Department Store", and I suppose that is correct. I really don't frequent such places terribly often. It surprises me such establishments still exist in this day and age, but I guess someone shops these businesses. They have clothing, jewelry, shoes, and beauty products, on the whole. Nothing special I could note. 3 stars Service: Some cashiers and floor workers. I didn't really interact with them. I suppose they were average in execution for this type of place? 3 stars Facilities: A new strip mall building right off South Claiborne in Central City. Everything's clean and fresh on the outside. There is ample parking in a nice private lot. The area can be accessed by either Louisiana Avenue or Washington without much issue. I don't think this area has any bike racks, though. The building itself is a brick-an-mortar. Tall windows show the entirety of the inside of the store, as well as displays for current items and sales. Signage is ample and easy to see. Inside, the business is a vast, single room affair. It seemed a little messy in there, as not everything was stocked neatly. Maybe they need more/more efficient floor employees. Like the products and service, noting major to note good or bad. 3 stars Overall: The location is quite convenient for Uptown folks, and the shopping center is nice and clean, overall. 3/5 it is what it is as is with other TJM stores, pretty hit or miss. they're stock for men's seems pretty limited and somewhat recycled (no men's shoes). a lot of the same things hanging next to each other on the rack but a bright, organized store overall. the team is very helpful on this opening day! once the initial rush dies down, the parking should be fine. The shared lot for all the stores seems tight for now. good finds: urban ears plattan headphones for $16! levi 514 stretch (as in you can do squats in them) for $25! read more

Whoa. I don't understand all of the low reviews for this TJ Maxx! This is a fairly new store- I think they built this new one at the same time that they built the new TJ Maxx on the Westbank. I stopped in here with a friend who was looking for some luggage that wouldn't break the bank. She ended up finding a nice piece of luggage that was perfect and well priced. I browsed the women's clothing and housewares, but didn't find anything that I absolutely needed, but I found that they had a nice selection of seasonal clothing and a lot of good deals. We went in the middle of a weekday, so there weren't a lot of people in the store and the check out was easy. The cashiers were nice and we had no issues. I'd return if I found myself in the area and in the need of a deal. read more

I love TJ Maxx for its low priced selection. This TJ Maxx is well stocked and varied. They have an incredible selection of clothing. Housewares and bathroom selections are well rounded. The cashiers were quick and efficient, though my cashier seemed tired and therefore not as engaged.(I've worked retail so I do not hold this against him). Just had the worse experience of my life here and I will never shop here again! I was in the store shopping for my new apartment & my daughter was writing on her pad on the shelf as her mom was looking at items to buy, a older woman comes up to her while we were standing there and says, "sweetie, you cant write on that until you buy it." I was immediately angered & decided to leave. I'm positive it was because of our skin color. It was completely disrespectful & utterly embarrassing for her to walk up & state that to my 6 yr old daughter while her two parents were standing right there. This TJ Maxx is always disorganized and messy. You can go during the day or at night- it doesn't matter. The selection is poor and there aren't that many good finds on name-brand items. Also, this shopping complex charges an additional 1% sales tax on top of the standard Louisiana state tax! read more

Typically I can find loads of things but the last few months have been really blah. Especially in the children's clothing area. The toy section is super crowded and the boxes toys are in look like they've been around the block a few times. Just meh. Maybe it will get better in the spring. read more

What the what!?? What are all the mediocre reviews all about? This is TJ Maxx guys. Who doesn't shop at discount stores nowadays and especially TJM- you're only cool of you do. Maxxonista, holla. For being in this location, I was pretty surprised to find designer items at seriously too good to be true prices. I'm talking rag and bone shoes under $50. and in my size. I had to pick my jaw up off the ground. And Ulta products from next door. Yassss. They have everything every other TJM has and more. Selection is as usual- great stuff...and I have great taste, so I mean it- great stuff. Now if you spend more than a normal person should in here (aka me) like 3 hours...they start following you around like you're up to something. By now they should know who I am and that I go in there on a serious shopping mission, but they're nice...sometimes...register folks always seem a little grumpy at times- hence 4 stars.
