Do not buy tires or get anything done with your car at Walmart, complete scam. I had a warranty for my 4-set of tires and one had a bubble and I got it replaced they made excuse after excuse to void warranty. A tire that's supposed to be completely covered turned into a $140 replacement. The mechanics there will rob you and over charge you so check your receipts. My warranty got voided because I didn't get tire rotations done through Walmart.... Hahaha I'm not forced to get them done at Walmart and that's why you won't cover my tire. We shop at this Walmart almost every day and spend over $4,000 a month between delivery and in-store. We have two toddlers and a second grader, and after a long day we stopped to grab snacks and dinner. After we paid, an employee pulled us to the side saying he didn't see my boyfriend scan Zebra Cakes. We had to go to the back with our kids, which was embarrassing. The total was only $12.69, and we explained it was an honest mistake from moving fast with kids. Taking our IDs and pictures over that amount was excessive. First time coming here, wanted to check out a different Walmart location than the Jefferson St location. This place was really clean with friendly staff that were able to help me find items and even reach items that I couldn't get too without complaints. Their clearance section as well as their television department was solid but the staff there were more focused chatting with themselves than helping me out. Bought a Valvoline Synthetic oil 5 quart to do an oil change on my car. Get home and there's oil all over the back, thankfully mostly in the weather guard. But it's all over everything back there. Half a quart, at least. Oil cap seal was not cracked, so not sure why it leaked, but after spending an hour dumping Oil Dry in my car and cleaning off the items in the back of my car, I called the store. Have your associates pay attention when a customer is standing in front of them. Examples deli and bakery. I stood at the deli counter for at least five minutes. I was in plain veiw of the two deli associates. The trick is not to look in the direction of the customers.The store is filthy! I used the bathroom and it was so disgusting . I purchased a tripod for a wedding I was filming this past Saturday. I bought it, drove to the city. When I opened it up, it was broken. The quick release plate was missing and the handle to raise and lower it was broken. So I go back today to get a refund. The assistant manager is refusing to give me one saying the the tripod I have is not the one that is supposed to be in the box. So essentially, they are saying they that I must have switched the tripod with a broken one. (Basically accusing me of stealing.) Now as nice as this 49 dollar tripod is and as much as I'm sure anyone would revel at the chance to steal such a fine item, I must admit I am highly insulted. Walmart, being a Fortune 500 company, you would think offered a refund and that's that. But no sir. Then, the manager Joseph, proceeded to raise his voice very disrespectfully when I asked to speak to his manager. Joseph, then told me his manager is at lunch and he couldn't call her on her cell phone and I had to wait. So here I sit roughly 35 minutes later and still no manager. So I was suppose to do this last month but I completely forgot. I went into auto area in Walmart and asked for help. I was having issue getting a part loose from my truck so I could get to work. Employee Dionre told me he would go look at my truck. I told him it wasn't necessary but if he could suggest what tool I might need would be enough help. Dionre however said it wouldn't be an issue. He looked at my truck and went back to get some tools to loosen the part for me. And ran back a second time to get another tool also. Finally he got the part that I needed loose for me and I was just ecstatic because I was having such a bad day. I thank him and told him I would write a review. This Walmart has a lot of good selection of their products, I can easily find all the things I need at their store than other store around the City. Their place is always clean, bright, nice, and decent. It is also so huge and you can walk yourself around so comfortable. Just like me, I got everything I need in a short period of time and also I was able to get out so quickly. This Walmart store has the best and great employees I have ever meet, all of them are so knowledgeable, decent, professional, and very helpful. You can come to any of their employees and ask anytime you need an assistance or guide. Also if you are looking for something that you can't find. They are so kind, all of them are so willing to serve and treat all of their customers so well. This is the great place to go to and do shopping. Can always find everything I need at their store. I love this Walmart. And that's not something I'd normally say about a Walmart. Usually when someone says "Oh let's just run over to Walmart for it", I will protest and find a list of other stores that offer whatever "it" is for much more, but with more pleasantries and convenience. Convenience? Isn't Walmart supposed to be the most convenient? The only thing convenient about Walmart is the fact that you can buy your food, your dog's food, and a bunk bed because who knows you might need it one day (it doesn't hurt to be prepared). That's it. Until the Shorewood/Joliet/Plainfield Walmart. I actually think everyone around here has the same idea about Walmart in general as I do so they just don't go. If I ever could envision a Walmart that could close because of a lack of shoppers, this is what it would look like... and I love it (just a note: I would not love it if this Walmart closed, just that it's always so empty). There's no bumping into other people. There's no riding someone's heals down the tiniest of isles because they decide they must look at every single box of baking soda three times in order to make a decision (you're at Walmart, you're here to buy the cheapest brand, it's the Walmart brand). There's no imaginary game show moment where you have to decide if you should check out on register 2 or 6 because the lines are both incredibly long, but one is bound to move incredibly faster than the other (it's always the register you don't choose). It's just pure empty bliss. So why, if I adore this Walmart so much, only three stars? Because eff the Auto Service department. Every single person I've ever interacted with from the greeters to the cashiers to the stockers have been pleasant and bubbly and kind and friendly and the kind of people you'd totally brunch with on occasion... except for the effing auto department. The highlights of my last visit: - I enter the indoor area for tires, no greeting by the manager sitting right before me. I say "Hello" after about a minute of silently waiting. He says "Not really a 'good morning'." Does he think I bid him a good morning? It's 1pm. - He asks me what size tires I have. I tell him. He yells for someone else to check the size of my tires. Probably could've just started with that if you weren't gonna take my word. - More moments of silence, only broken up when he realizes I'm staring at him to inform me that he's looking at their schedule for tomorrow. He continues to do this the majority of our short conversation that he could've given just a little more attention to. RE: "Hello" and "good morning" situation. - He looks up the size and says all the he has is $144 a tire. I let him know which tires I had just looked up and found available on their website that were in stock at this location. He's adamant all they have is $144. No offer to order the ones I'm talking about or anything just end of story. So 95% of this Walmart is perfect. The other 5% that I'm dedicating solely to the auto department is shit. In all fairness it could just be that manager is shit, but I guess we'll never know because his shitiness was enough to engulf the entire department for me. Walmart, good. On the same day I placed two online orders for pick-up less than 10 minutes apart (some back yard toys). I got the notification one was ready for pick up within their estimated window. The second came few days later. Not a big deal but you have 7 days to pick up so the first item's deadline would now be expiring 24 hours after I got the pick up email for the delayed item. Just something to note for planning purposes. Pick up counter is all the way in the back of the store. The gentleman helping me was very nice and quick. All my paperwork said I needed to show ID but he completed the just under $60 order first, without asking, but asked for it when he did the just over $100 item he rung out second. He loaded my cart with both large, bulky items but never asked if I would need help out with it. So I was on my way walking back through the store trying to look around the giant box obstructing my view scared I was gonna peg a rogue child or something. Once I got out to my car one of the boxes was a little too big to fit inside. I ended up having to open the box and pull the pieces out and load it up that way. As I played Tetris with my car I noticed an employee outside gathering carts and watching me. The entire time he avoided the full corral near my car and purposely even went past it to clear out a different one. I saw him stopping and chatting people up. As it became clear to him I wasn't finished yet and he had to get that corral he moved really slow and was even just standing still at one point glancing over at me smashing and folding the now empty box. I thought he would at least ask if he could take the empty box. Nope. Fiddled with carts avoiding eye contact. I fought the temptation to passive aggressively just leave the box and tossed it into my car. As I returned my cart to the full corral near me I did lift my sunglasses and wave at him then gave him a thumbs up so he knew it was safe to go near that corral now. Whew- Customer service avoided. The takeaway- bring your own help or be prepared to do it by yourself. And make sure your purchase fits into your vehicle. read more

The whole Walmart policy of no checkers and only self check outs is beyond crazy. It cuts their employee cost and they still make the same amount of money with out paying employees. Yet all customers suffer and have to deal with it. Ever since Walmart has started this the whole store has went down hill. The selves are empty, nobody to help you. To echo an earlier review from 2014 about shelves never being stocked...isn't that the case. I have never seen so much empty space on shelves in my life. Then I go to electronics to get a new television wall mount and of course nothing has prices (all the prices are gone) I finally flag someone down and they say they'll call someone...10 Minutes later someone comes mosying over with a price gun...then I go for my go to energy drink and shelves are completely bare! Not a single 4 pack to be found in store let alone a 10 pack or case! (Found 1 on different shelf) Then as I'm checking out we got a $12 scott toilet paper, a 4 pack monster and a $20 tv mount a few odds and ends......and I'm like something isn't right $80.51? Of course I pay instead of making a scene the woman rang me up twice for toilet paper! Then I have to wait to get my money back! Never again!!!! This location recently had corporate come in and do some house work, which only made the store worse. I have a friend and neighbor go to the location on Jefferson, while I prefer the Plainfield location. I've had a lady at the bakery yell at my daughter for asking for a cookie. She knew she was wrong because everyone in the area shot a look like "whoa" and when she came over, she tried to pull the "here you go sweetie" crap. I try to be compassionate to the employees because I know they're dealing with unhappy customers and crappy management, but one can only tolerate so much. If I didn't know better, I'd think they were holding a Drew Peterson lookalike contest today at Wal-Mart. Mustache galore! This isn't my usual neighborhood Wal-Mart, but when I need a change of scenery it does the job since I'm ALWAYS at the Plainfield store. Or, if I want to purchase an item and not run the risk of running into a friend or colleague, I go here. Y'know, like pregnancy tests. And I don't want people all up in my business. The cosmetics aisles were the cleanest I've seen in a Wal-Mart. A few lipsticks were obviously opened, but they also had several of each item in stock so I could buy a sealed lipstick instead of someone's tainted herpes stick. Earned a star there. There's a Dunkin Donuts inside. In older stores, there's a Subway and those stink up the place. Earned half a star. The bakery and a few aisles appeared low on stock. As in, big gaping holes on the shelf. For a Sunday, I also thought it was ridiculous how many stock carts containing new inventory were blocking the aisles. Lost that half star. I saw a lot more employees on the floor in this store than anywhere else. Half star earned back. I still favor the Plainfield store. read more
