This is definitely my least favorite Walmart in the immediate area. First off, the layout is very different from the others in the area, so it always throws me off when I'm in there. I've been shopping online at Walmart since March 2020 and like it very much. But since yesterday I haven't been able to log in to the Somersworth store. I've tried twenty times at least, and every time I get a "temporary" glitch; please try again later. Well, now it's 24 hours later and I still can't log in. I even created a new account and ordered up a bunch of Campbell's Chunky soups, which show up on the web page every time I go there -- but I can't log in to schedule a pickup. This morning I created a new account, which went quite well -- until I tried to log in and schedule a pickup. Again the temporary glitch! So I telephoned -- and nobody answered after the menu. It's... a Walmart. There really aren't any surprises as to what you'll find. Massive crowds, stuff flung everywhere when it's busy, though that isn't really the fault of the staff because there's no way they can possibly keep up. I will say that of all the Walmart locations in the area, this one seems to have the fastest checkout most of the time. The only negative today, other than it being so busy, was that while I was shopping in the seasonal section near the garden center, I heard a male employee ranting loudly about customers insisting on being given the price on display after the sale has ended or something similar. He was using profanity and loudly complaining about customers on the sales floor, and having worked retail for many years in the past I am always flabbergasted at employees doing this where customers can hear. I'm not easily offended, but plenty of people are, and this kind of behavior is simply unacceptable while you're on the clock. We all get it, your job sucks and many of us sympathize, but acting the way this man did only serves to make you look like a fool and turn customers off entirely. read more

Came here and was wondering why the store was literally empty of customers, then I went to check out. NO cashier's! Only the self checkout is open, which means people with cart full of items also must use the lanes, which takes a considerable amount of time. Thinking to do a "quick trip" turns into a all day event. The prices aren't even on par with surrounding grocery stores, to make it worth while to check myself out. The one good thing, is since you're bagging your own, you can use 1 bag for each item, instead of having them shove a whole bunch of items in the cheap Walmart bags that break. I came in with my mother to pick up beach towels and shirts for my son. The store as a whole is clean, well lit, and exactly what you would expect a Walmart to be. I saw two employees restocking inventory. The selection of sunscreen was admirable. I found the brand I especially wanted to find for my son. We spoke to five store associates, all of whom were friendly and helpful. The lady in charge of the changing booth station was civil. I wondered what she was being paid per hour, or if she has health insurance. I dock a star because the corporate nature of Walmart takes more money out of the local economy than it returns to it. That's just the nature of the beast. A gentleman in a wheelchair, with a job title of "ambassador of health", noticed us laughing with the woman watching over the check out area. He complimented my mom on her pocket book on our way out so we struck up a friendly conversation. After two minutes we noticed two teen age girls were queued up to speak with David. There is a commitment to customer service readily apparent. Kudos to the corporate store manager and regional managers of this location. They don't follow the ADA rules and refused a pick up order because a service dog was in the car. The dog was just sitting there doing it's job being calm the whole time. The managers think they're above the laws. Please you work at Walmart you're nothing special. read more

I have never wrote a review in my life but this really felt necessary...I purchased a brand new TV from them and when I got home I opened up the box to find that there wasn't any power cable, remote or tv stand. The tv also looked dirty and had hand prints on it! I went to the store shortly after to return the TV and the customer service said I couldn't because the serial numbers didn't match... The employee pretty much accused me of swapping out the TV..shortly after I called the Walmart customer service line and they said it was up to the manager to allow the exchange for a different tv so I called the next day to talk to a manager and they weren't there so they put a "coach" on the phone. They were of no help and said that I pretty much had no chance to return it because of the serial numbers. I was expecting a brand new tv but what I got was a dirty used tv with missing equipment. Walmart was of no help to me and just wasted my time... This is just absolutely ridiculous especially after buying so many of my appliances there. I dont ever want to go back to this Walmart. I have reviewed Walmart, Somersworth on several criteria as delineated below. I believe it is important to specify the reasons for an opinion. 1) Customer service: The store manager, Jesse, feels that it is appropriate to hang up on people for no reason whatsoever. The phone call lasted less than five minutes and she hung up after admitting to business practices and then denying those admissions. When I asked for clarification, she hung up. At no time was I rude to her. 2) Caring about customers: The store has NO LIMITS on clearance merchandise and in fact, sells their full lots of 75% off clearance Christmas merchandise to a local store (O'Keefe's) who, the manager admitted, buys ALL the Christmas tree clearance from EVERY area Walmart and has been doing so for years. So, all you loyal customers who want a break at the end of the year are passed over in favor of another retailer. How loyal to customers! 3) Cleanliness: For a long time now, I have had an issue with their bathrooms, which are not kept up on a regular basis. They do not have sufficient supplies, the toilets are downright dirty quite often, and one is generally disgusted when one sees the condition of the room, 4) The merchandise is not kept well stocked. It is often poorly stocked and where it used to be well stocked, it has suffered either because of neglect of financial difficulty, One cannot speculate on this, and thus suffice it to say that inventory is spotty, sometimes out of date, and the selection is poor. Perhaps this is because everyone has given up and gone to the retailer whom they sell their merchandise to down the road. 5) A store who takes advantage of employees should not be encouraged. I an a pro bono advocate who gives out advice to individuals and more than one Walmart employee is on one or another type of welfare despite 30 hours of work per week. Also, my local news station carried coverage some time ago on Walmart employees collecting food stamps because Walmart will not allow them to work sufficient hours to make a livable wage. When I was 16, I thought that a Wal-Mart moving in to replace what used to be a mile of fields and modest cape homes was the most exciting thing ever. It was like something famous in this nation thought that somersworth, NH was important enough to set up shop here. Now, 20 years later, I try to visit this town without visiting this sprawling plastic wasteland, and I die a little inside each time I get sucked in like a black hole to buy something or other I've convinced myself I need. The Walmart in Somersworth, NH delivery associates are the rudest people I have had to call in my entire life. The lady kept sighing every time I asked her a question. She then said that they could not bring me my frozen items they left in the freezer until a later date. And when I asked for a refund she sighed and hung up on me. I shop there all the time. I'm retired, living on SS, and budgeting is essential. I save about 20% over Shaws or Hanniford's, and and I don't like the rotisseried chickens at Market Basket. These here ones are scrumptious, though. I've never had a problem with the employees here or anywhere else, locally, really. (If you're nice to people, they'll be nice to you, most of the time.) People may have trouble with Walmart's business practices, and that's understandable. I have some trouble with some of them, myself. Tonight at 10:40 p.m. I walked into Walmart in Somersworth N.H. with my husband and brother. The lady at the door reminded us they closed at 11 which we all know and she had reminded us about g every night that we come in: which is completely unnecessary because they announce it over the speaker every night minutes not a huge deal. My problem is that when I left my husband and brother to use the restroom while they checked it the lady proceeded to say wait where are your side kicks. I am a 40 year old woman shopping for some last minute items before the store closed I do not have side kicks and I should be able to use the restroom before leaving without being harassed by the door lady older woman heavy set with no vest or name tag showing that she actually works for Walmart. Harassing guests in your store regardless of the time isnt needed. I will go to target where they actually appreciate the money we spend there. I felt singled out and disrespected. Actually, it'd be -(negative) 5 stars. Too many people, the store does NOT cater to agoraphobics or people on the autism spectrum. Went to cash out on their self-scan system, which is actually a Windows 10 system, which is why the thing never works. Three times, the thing said "Unexpected Item in bagging area" when clearly, everything in the bagging area was already scanned. I was already uncomfortable with being stared down by an associate that just stands around there in the first place. Sorry, but there isn't any need for any associates ANYWHERE near the self-scan area. I finally got enraged when the stupid computer told me to "Please wait for assistance." and stormed out of the store. NEVER AGAIN will I ever shop at this, or any other Walmart again! I never use Yelp, but my customer service experience was horrid today and I need to share it. I'm used to going to this Walmart and being ignored by 90% of the employees, and that's fine, but I can confidently say I will not be using this Walmart anymore after this experience. I got about 4-5 bags of groceries an hour and a half before close today, because I work until 9pm and have trouble finding another time to buy groceries. This Walmart closes at 11, I was there at about 9:30. I decided to not hold up the self checkout and went through an actual cashier instead. This cashier didn't speak a word to me, which I found normal for this location, however at the end of the transaction, the cashier shouted to another associate "Always have to be the ones right at the end of the night" as though I wasn't even there. I was in disbelief and was honestly embarrassed at how he was talking about me as though I wasn't even right in front of him. The associate he shouted this to had been staring at me for a while, but I didn't know why. Apparently I was unwelcome to check out with my groceries, and neither of them wanted me to be there. I went to Staples this morning, money in hand, to buy a new laptop right away. There was another gentleman looking at the desktops. No one came over or even acknowledged either of us. Finally left and went to Walmart where the price and service were MUCH better. I rarely post a complaint. However, I believe that the Somersworth, NH. Wal Mart participates in a most egregious practice. I purchased a portable DVD player. I got it home and found that the keys on the player were so difficult to see that I packaged it up and placed in original box. I reviewed by receipt to be sure that there were no limitations regarding returning this item. Yesterday, I attempted to return it, in the original box, and with the receipt only to be told that "it's 4 days past the time that you can return it" I looked at the front and back of my receipt. No Where, did it state that this item was under the 14 day time limit. In my mind, my receipt is the contract that I have with WalMart. Again, in no place did it say that I had a certain time limit to return this item, nor did any sales clerk state this to me upon purchasing the item. The management would not budge. My question is "how am I to know this?" If, for a minute I knew that this item was under a return time restraint, I would have returned it sooner. Why would I have held on to it when I knew I didn't want it the day I unboxed it. Again, I did not have the upfront knowledge that this was the case. Very Deceptive Practice, Shame on you WalMart ! If I could give no stars I would. This Walmart has the WORST customer service! I purchased a TV online for in store pick up... I picked up the TV (everything went fine there). I get home and find abruptly that this TV had been used/opened before! I paid full retail for what they told me was BRAND new only to find it was USED before! The protective packaging was missing from around the TV the cables were not in any packaging. The bolts and screws were in a PLASTIC ZIP LOCK BAG! When I called back to let them know what happened I was passed along from one person to another until finally reaching Eric who said he was the store manager (who kept putting me on hold to find out the answers to my questions about the used TV) Eric to no avail informed me they do not sell used TV's and my only choice was to pack my car back up and drive to Walmart to do an exchange. Now I did inform Eric that I do not mind having a floor model or used TV (if it works) however I felt as though it was unfair that I had to pack up my car, drive back to do an exchange because someone made a mistake. Eric was rude, disconcerted and quite frankly made me feel like I was bothering him. I will NEVER go to Walmart again because of this experience. I feel as though something could have been done from his end to rectify the situation. I was not and am not asking for a hand out by any means. But if I am a paying customer I should be paying for a used device not a brand new one. I went to Wal-Mart in somersworth tonight 10/17/ to grab a quick hot meal .they have things like popcorn chicken and potatoe wedges and corn....well...unfortunately i did not take a picture but there corn was almost completely what looked to be molded over and all the othe hot foods were eaither not the rite color or looked absolutely OLD. Now im NOT AT ALL picky and im not the type of person to complain about stupid stuff .(i mean this is my first review on here ) buut good lord that food was not edible in anyway .so i said ok well ill just grab some chicken in the fridge next to the hot food .NOPE they were all past the expiration dates . FINALLY i said ok well im just going to a simple ham and cheese sandwhich which comes packaged with two halfs ....can you guess whats coming next ...? Yup u guessed it! The ham was a leather brown color on the front and pink when i look through the back of thr package. And that to was past its date .ugh ive never seen such a thing at Wal-Mart. And ive never been so sickened . I tried to find someone to twll so no one would eat that stuff and get sick but all i could find was teenagers working .idk if it was because of the time at night or what but im hoping the boy i did tell passed on the message....please always check dates and color and even texture when by there .if it happened once it can happen again:/. read more

Always long lines at checkout. One time a rude manager said it couldn't be helped because they "didn't have coverage". Isn't it the manager's job to make sure they have coverage? Recently I had to wait for the manager to come to the checkout line for a price check. I watched in amazement as she took her sweet time walking over from the customer service desk. After ordering an item on line through Walmart.com, I received an email that the item was ready to be picked up. Upon arrival at the pick up station inside Walmart, I was told the item had not arrived even though it showed on line that FedEx had delivered the item and it was signed in by a Walmart employee. I went home, looked up all my email information concerning this shipment and called the pick up station. The manager, Judy, said she would call me back, which she did and said there had been a "glitch" and the item was indeed there. So, when I get a chance within the 5-7 days, I will return and go through this entire ridiculously frustrating routine and see if I can pick up my delivery. If Judy had checked it out more thoroughly while I was there in the first place, I would have been more understanding. However, to dismiss me as if I had rock in my head is not professional nor good customer service. read more
