Shopping at Janetos is a very pleasant experience. Far from the hubbub of the big box supermarkets, Janetos, although smaller, has everything. I can run up and down the short aisles and get what I need very quickly. They also have a great selection of prepared foods. I love their buffalo chicken salad. At the deli this weekend and felt like some meatballs to go with the pasta I was making. No meatballs in the case or on the menu on the wall so I asked if they sold them. Why not, right? Turns out they do and they make them to order. Holy cow we're these good. They even helped me with the temp and time to cook them. Highly recommend their meatballs. read more

Excellent quality meats everyday essential items are there. The store isn't a Walmart so they don't have TV sets and clothes. I bought shish kabob and some vegetables for grilling price was normal and the steak was prime butcher was fast friendly and provided local interest as I was there from Indiana. I've purchased meat from Janetos in the past, and when I decided I was going to do a rib roast, I knew this is where I wanted to purchase my roast. We live about a half hour north, and I made a special trip, which I have done in the past, because the service and product have always been good. I asked for two bone, small end cut roast. Never got a chance to see the cut, went from the meat counter to being wrapped in paper. Got home and unwrapped, so I could dry age for a couple days. A little disappointed with the cut, very uneven, and on one side it was cut at angle hitting the bone. I would expect the cut to be even on both ends, and so it can also be evenly tied and roast properly. Attention to detail and quality of product-not good this time. Hopefully it will cook evenly -- this is our Christmas dinner. read more

I lived 300 feet from this store but I just can't get past the wretched smell it has had for at least the last decade. The smell is an overwhelming mixture of putrid rotting meat, Pine-sol/dirty mop bucket water and moisture damage/mildew. I stop here at least once a week. Do not let the appearance of this place turn you away. Walk way to the back a check out the meat department first then decided to stay or go. I'm willing to bet you will stay ! Every week they post specials and the deals are great. 6.99 lb for Porterhouse Steak ... They will cut any size you wish, just ask one of the several meat cutters behind the counter. When you buy fresh ground burger meat 5 lbs or more it ranges from 2.99 to 3.49 per pound. Every Saturday I stroll in and pick up 13 lbs for our cookout at work. Anyhow enough of my rambling .... Family owned, clean and great value on meats. Janetos is the best place in town for any grocery needs you may have. Also they have an amazing selection of cuts and their deli makes the best sandwiches, that woman at the butcher's counter, Daye makes the best Roast Beef ones. I've seen other reviews with negative comments but I can assure you the place is super clean and their staff is professional and amicable, to say the least, their meat is fresh and their prices are beyond reasonable. Funny thing but that one bad review they have on yelp, comes from an asshat that's always giving bad reviews, coincidence or just someone unhappy? Ask that to yourself. read more

Janeto's is a cool little supermarket. It reminds me of the one I went to with my parents when I was 5 years old and supermarkets hadn't turned into the huge corporate chains that they are now. Prices on some things might be a little higher but I'd hate to see stores like this disappear so shop here when you can. read more

New to town and thought I'd try out supporting a smaller business. I have so many regrets, and I wish I just went to Aldi's or Hannaford. I got cream cheese, paying around $3.50, only to bring it home and find it completely spoiled. They have all of the name brands, but I'd rather go elsewhere to pay less for an off brand that hasn't been handled poorly and with little regard for future consumers. read more

That lot is for customers of the business only! If you want to patronize stores downtown then you must move your car after your business in the plaza is complete to the appropriate parking spaces located in the parking garage downtown or use the metered parking along Central Ave. Parking in the lot to avoid paying the meters is wrong and lying about it is also wrong. Ive always really liked Janetos, I just didn't realize how lucky we are to have it in Dover until I lived in a few other places with nothing comprable. The butcher shop and deli counter is the real standout here, everything is amazing. I also really enjoy their very reasonably priced spices and spice blends. read more

We use to love going here but the last 3 times we've gone within 2 days the meat is spoiled and smells up the entire fridge. We bought 1lb of ground sirloin 2 days ago and I went to open it today and it was all grey and the smell was horrible. Got a sub there tonight. Absolutely disgusting. The roast beef was raw, not rare, but raw. The first and only bite I took I had to spit out. The deli worker had a mass attitude, sighed , rolled her eyes and complained to another customer standing next to me that she was sooooover making subs. You work at a deli! Hello! I stop in here every other week or so. If I'm dying for their 'ready to bake' stuffed chicken breasts, good quality meats and produce, etc and low priced cigs. You can buy meat in bulk here via their website at janetosmarket.com. Every month the meat selections and combos change. This week I chose 4 items for 28.79. 2 lbs of stew beef - see my beef stew pic I made today lol- 2 lbs of turkey meatballs, 5 lbs of chicken thighs and 3 lbs of bone in chicken breasts. Great product for a fair price. The staff is friendly and professional and knowledgable - did I tell you they make subs out back by the meat counter? Also have a nice selection of wines. What a great place. Old school local market with a butcher. Excellent meat. Good prices on meat. And they have the convenience of most other things you will need without having to drive across town. Just left this place about 1 hour ago and purchased some tenderloins of chicken. The man behind the counter simply put his bare hands on my purchase, programmed my sticker into the scale, put the sticker onto my wrapped purchase and said here ya go.. I walked around to continue to shop, and watched him. He never washed his hands. I have been in the food business for over 8 years guys. I understand you are all butchers and most likely no one will get a food-borne illness from your establishment. I am aware of that! Great little market; definitely a blast from the past. The front of the store almost has the look of a convenience store, but there is a more extensive (and more reasonably priced) grocery. The highlight of this place is definitely the meat counter. They generally have the best prices in town and don't bat an eye at custom orders. Went to Janetos last week. Paid $5.99/lb for ground beef. Visited Kendall pond for lunch on a Monday and parked in the parking lot of the plaza. Janetos reported my car and had it removed from the shared lot. The parking lot was nearly empty. It is safe to say, inside and out, Janetos is a terrible experience. read more

The deli and meat counter at Janetos makes it worth the trip. Prepared foods are available, including in-store ground beef, roasts of various kinds and superlative customer service. During the holiday season, you can pre-order poultry and fish. They also have "freezer specials" where you can stock up on provisions. Their produce has also widened over the years. read more

Got some grond chuck here for burgers today and it was fantastic. MUCH higher quality than what you can get a large, chain grocery store. Janetos doesn't look like much of a store when you are driving by, but very much worth going inside. The butcher area in the back is where it's at, that is the crown jewel. It's beautiful. The display case is chock full of all the meats you could ask for, and then some. The sausages, steaks, chicken, many marinated and stuffed meats. They can accomodate special orders and also have specials if you want to buy in bulk. I was able to get 5 lbs of burger for 1.99 a pound if I got the 5 lb bag. SOLD! You can't find quality burger like this at the big chains, and sure can't come close to that price. And FRESH - it's so fresh, and so good. Take advantage of this gem! This is a great place to save money, get a better product than you would at the chains, and also, support a local business. The grocery part of the store is ok, just the essentials. The produce is limited BUT it's gorgeous. Everything was ripe, colorful and in pristine care. Highly recommend checking this place out if you have not been in before! read more

This place needs to work on their sanitization practices. There has been numerous times that I smelled very disgusting smells coming from their butcher/deli section. janettos...gross! the place smells disgusting, hold your nose when you walk in. Bought meat from there once and it made me sick.

Their hamburg is the best and their chicken cordon blue. They have some of the best meats around. try them.
