They have everything you need for staples from the garden along with things that are just nice to have. Their food selection is terrific. I especially like their "salsa in a basket", which is a strawberry quart basket filled with onion, tomato, jalapeno, cilantro and tomatillo. Fingerling potatoes are available here! There is a cooler in the back with locally sourced bacon, milk, and eggs along with Swampscott soda. Depending on the time of year, you can get cider donuts, pies, brownies, and bread. In the "nice to have" department, Barker's has a couple of offerings. There are bouquets of cut flowers which you can purchase for half the price of what you could get at a florist or supermarket. Or, better yet, you can go out to their flower garden and pick your own bouquet! Sometimes they have dried chili strings or dried flower arrangements which you can hang as home decor. As you ring up your purchase, don't forget to grab a bar of handmade soap. (I'm partial to the Voodoo Spice.) If you just feel the need to get in there and grow your own, Barker's also has a green house. You can pick up seedlings for most garden vegetables there. They offer a good selection of annuals and perennials, as well. Barker's is not open year round. Let's face it, it's New England and winter is a time to live off the preserves that you made during the summer and fall. When late spring rolls around, make sure you put Barker's as your first stop for food shopping and pick up good local food to keep you going.

Upon arriving, we saw all the beautiful Christmas trees for sale and were immediately greeted by a very nice young man who asked if we'd ever been there. We purchased their own Cryovacced beef and sausage, some fresh veggies, homemade baked goods, and some cider. The staff was AMAZINGLY friendly! As we were leaving, my children saw some very small broken Christmas tree twigs in the parking lot and wanted to take them home for the ride so they could smell the pine. Another young man called over to me and said he had a better piece for them than what we found on the ground and he gave them a large branch! It just made their day! My friend and I wound up in the overflow a little after 11am when the event started. I've always seen signs around when I'm driving in the area for other events or goods that they are selling. In the fall they seem especially popular as well for pumpkins and fall activities. The market area is brightly lit. Given the neighborhood, as everyone else has commented expect prices to be at a premium. The samples we tried at the Strawberry Festival were tasty. My favorite was the short cake. They also offered tickets at $1/ticket for some other paid offerings such as their ice cream which I skipped. They had someone dressed up as the Green Monster so that was a fun photo op for the family too. The event had a lot of staff so each station was moving. In fact one of the owners/managers came by seeing a long queue near the entrance by the pasta said we could walk around to the other stations since no one should be waiting in a line (ignore the line to park and get in haha.) I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit but it's an option for local. I've also gone to Wagon Wheel which is smaller for seasonal / market type items.
