My husband was given a wal-mart gift card for doing above and beyond on a problem that suddenly arose at work. I usually dont shop at wal-mart due to their hiring pratices and min. wage for all attitude. We walked into the store and were shocked that the store looked like a hurricane just rippedthru. Clothes all over the floors, throw over the back of the racks. This was not during any Holiday or "super sale" promo. Just a Tuesday afternoon. We decided to just get some basics and go! They hade NO MILK or BREAD! We bought some Ceral, dog food and Garbage bags. The total came to $45.63. I told my husband to grab some choclate bars and use up the card. Walmart Valley stream location. Where do I start? I use to enjoy coming here for their awesome selection of foods. The past few months they are going through a transformation of the aisles in the store. Now the aisles are way to narrow for two carts to pass each other, or accommodate the crowds of shoppers, the new layout of foods makes no sense, especially that the bath and beauty products are way across on the other side of the store so I have add to my stress level and time to get there amongst the poorly designed aisles. The cashier lines are not defined making it a cart traffic jam high tensions and confusion. The parking lots main entrance across from BJs is redesigned with a fence wall and trailers to create a bottle neck of one lane access tac on another 20 min just to get the open spots on the other side, thank you, for making it worse then it was. The rude low class of people with mysterious friends with full carts to skip you, cause" oh, we are together"on the hellish line you been standing on for 15 -30 minutes. Or the one cart 5 different transactions people, or the people who get the groceries rung up only to find out hey I have no money to pay for this, take that off I want that take that, etc... Its a horrible experience to shop there now, but I did save a bunch of money. My wallet appreciates it, my heart rate nerves and patiences does not. F you walmart! read more

I make the trek alllllll the way from Bushwick to this Walmart. As cliche as it sounds, the prices are truly so much more cheaper than my local grocery store. The produce is better quality and there's so much more of a selection for me to choose from. There's a few downsides to this place, they don't seem to restock their shelves as frequently as they should. I went twice in a week, and the second time was on a Sunday and the shelves were bare. That was kind of frustrating. The lines move fast and the team members are extremely helpful and knowledgable about where things are in the store. Aside from the bare shelves, I don't mind trekking so far to get a good deal on some groceries. read more

I asked 3 associates for a product and they responded- it's not my department- 2 of them looked high! Later I found a manager which also asked an employee who responded -not my department! She reprovingly said -We all should be able to help in any department!... anyway I never found what I was looking for and for my surprise (not) on the way to my car I saw some employees gather smoking pot by the gardening or backyard department. OMG! My husband and I wanted some bar stools for our kitchen counter of a certain height so we looked online to see which Walmart carries it and this was the only one. So we went there on a Tuesday evening, around 6 PM. The place wasn't crowded with customers but there were a lot of sales associates on the floor, managers and supervisors. We went to the aisle with the stools and we couldn't find any of the height we wanted so...we decided to ask an associate. Well!!! There were 2 of them standing right there, talking to each other while we were looking at them waiting to find a pause so we could cut in their conversation. But Noooo! They both ignored us staying there, staring like a kid in a candy shop, and went to help a lady BOTH OF THEM!! Meanwhile other 6-7 associates walked by back and forth but none was compelled to ask " may I help you? " We finally saw this kid and started yelling from 3 feet away " maybe you can help us with something" But of course he didn't. He said that if what we need is not on the shelf, they don't have it. The kid was nice and respectful and I understood that he might not be in the mood to go through all the trouble of " looking in their stock". Maybe is Walmart policy not to bother looking in their back room stock, but that was such a hassle being there. P.S. My husband is not a patient shopper but here he was so pissed he let me know he never wants to come back there every again. So I kinda see why all these ppl feel the same. I am like others who would like to give this store a negative 5 stars if I could. This must be the worst store I have ever been in my life and I have been to plenty. There is no organization and absolutely no employees who seem to be doing their jobs as they should. I see a bunch of employees who must have been straight out of high school (or middle school) and three of them in one aisle happily joking and chatting to each other. No idea that customers are all around and they have to move out the way or be alert to help them when needed. Have they had any training of any kind and WHAT ABOUT THE MANAGEMENT! I bet they are idling away at the back singing and dancing too. All I can say, being Wamart and having been to plenty they seriously need to get their act together here in this store. Also, what about the regional uppper managers, what are they doing about this store, do they have no clue as to the negative comments customers are making about the store. I guess not, otherwise they would have done something about this and trained their 'dim' and 'uncouth' employees to serve better. All I can say, since this Walmart is the only one around and people just come here by necessity does not mean that they can be arrogant and do what the hell they want. I am for boycotting this establishment and see how they feel then. This corporate greedy making engine doesn't care about consumers but just the money it is getting from the poor customers who have no alternatives. Something needs to be done, either get your store trained and organized properly or close it down, so we don't have to suffer. I only go here for the good prices, but sometimes I wonder "is it even worth it?" The store is usually a mess, staff members are usually roaming around pointlessly or slowly restocking shelves. They never care to help you, and most times the items I'm looking for are coincidently "out of stock." The other costumers are always in a rush, running into you, stepping on your feet, slamming carts into corners, blocking the isles, It is highly annoying! Lines to check out are usually running in and out of isles, it's so long. I think there is a self check out now though, that should help the situation I would recommend going to another location if you can. read more

This Walmart is dirty, not stocked properly and The lighting is horrible. And many but not all of the associates are not very helpful. I feel badly about writing this review. THE VALLEY STREAM WALMART STORE #5293 IN NEW YORK NEEDS AN UNDERCOVER BOSS TO VISIT AND STRAIGHTEN IT OUT!!! On Dec. 26, 2015 at approximately 5PM (EST) I placed an online order to the Valley Stream Walmart Store #5293 in New York. I ordered the Logitech 960-000733 Hd Webcam C615 because the website advised it was "Available today". I received an email three hours later advising my purchase would be ready for pick-up at approximately 8:45PM. At about 9:50PM, I sent my son to the store in hopes that my confirmation email was inadvertently not sent. He was told that the order was not ready and the pick-up counter would be closing in ten minutes and we'd have to come back after we receive an email advising the order was ready. The store is open until 12AM seven days a week but pick-up ends at 10:00PM. I was so upset! I personally went to the store, walked to the electronics department and picked up the Logitech 960-000733 Hd Webcam C615 that I ordered but was not made available to me for pick-up six and a half hours earlier. I am always very reluctant to visit this location. The associates lack social skills and never seem happy to assist. There are countless cash registers but only a couple are open; thereby, having customers waiting long periods of time. Hence, I became that customer tonight. The store doesn't feel welcoming. I really dislike it. I have visited a Tampa, Fl and a New Port Richey, Fl location and felt great there. President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart, Carl Douglas "Doug" McMillon should disguise himself and visit this location or send legitimate secret shoppers from his staff. read more

I have never wrote a review before, but my experience was so HORRIBLE that I had to write about it. This place is a disaster, from the parking lot to the store. I would rather pay triple price than go back to this nightmare. I ended up leaving with nothing because my entire store experience was disgusting, from lack of service to nasty, impatient shoppers, you need massive attitude just to get in the door. The store set up is backwards, large displays in the middle of isles, and empty shelves. Worst place ever! I ordered a Drive Medical Folding Exercise bike and selected the pick up option at the Valley Stream NY Walmart. Big mistake! First I arrived on the designated day after FedEx informed me that the item was in the store. The rude store staff told me to come back when I got another email, as the item was in the store but not in the pick up section yet. So I came back 3 days later. Then they tell me they cannot find it in spite of the official pick up email. Nobody says sorry. They want me to come back after a few days while they will locate it. I took the refund. Totally hate this Walmart but only shop here due to convenience. However due to this last incident, I will no longer being a customer here. There needs to be a refresher course on asset protection done here. As security stopped me before I left the store, he just kept telling me to follow him and everything will be ok. Once we walked across the store to a room I was told to sit. I had my entire $40 transaction picked apart, I was asked for my information. After asking questions about why he needed all my information, I found out I was being followed under suspicion for not paying for three pieces of felt equaling 0.23 cents. -I get it if you find something funky you need to investigate but if you're going to append customers, you need to explain the process as it goes along. I couldn't get answers when I asked what was going on, I had pictures of my drivers license taking without my permission and if I hadn't ask what was going on, I'd still be in dark as to what exactly was going on. One day you will find the right person who will pursue a lawsuit against your company, it won't be me as I am no longer a customer. read more

First let me say, it's Walmart and no matter where you go in the country, it's always going to be packed and have long lines. I did not really interact with floor associates but our cashier was nice and efficient. I knocked off three stars because some of the aisles are weird. The baby food was front facing in a mini aisle that really it a walkway and so I felt rushed because I was holding others up trying to pick out baby food for my son. It's no one's fault other than the store design team. Also there was more debris on the floor than usual and unfortunately some of my fellow shoppers forgot how to behave in public. Finally, I've been in lots of other Walmart Supercenters and this one was surprisingly darker than most. It's strange because I've been coming here since I was 10 and it had more walking space and it felt brighter. For a New York Walmart, it's pretty typical but having been to out of state locations, this one really needs to up it's game. read more

Every single time I walked into that store I have observed at least one argument/fight. On Black Friday, I observed somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 fights in the 4 hours I was there. OMG STAY AWAY! Customer service in here doesn't exist. I ordered a TV online for pickup. Came to the store at 9:30 to pick it up on the day that I received the email that it was ready for pick up. Checked in at the kiosk and just stood there, not knowing the checkin was useless because they did not follow it. Not a single employee asked me if I needed anything. Eventually I caught on and I myself approach someone to help me. Then two employees go to get my 60 inch TV, right after an argument of who will actually go get it because the walk was far...They are gone for well over an hour. They finally come back with ... no TV. They went to look for it a second time, taking just as long, and still nothing. "They looked everywhere & couldn't find it." Then they told me I need to call customer service and cancel my order, they cannot help me any further. called customer service, Thank God I called while I was still in the store. The woman on the phone wanted to speak to the manager of the pick up section .. I get him on the phone and she asks him "how does a 60 inch TV go missing after numerous confirmations that it was delivered and ready for pickup"? At this point the manager says he will go and look himself. 20 minutes later he comes back with the TV, which was HUGE!!! One of the original employees that looked for it said they did see it but they were expecting a TV picture to be on the box -_______- finally after 3 hours I was able to leave with my purchase. Worst Walmart location I've been to. Let me start by saying they have hundreds of shopping carts that you can't even use. They're either locked, missing a wheel, or don't even work at all. It's very crowded, I know most Walmarts are, however it's so hard to get through different departments and they store layout is much different than the other ones. read more
