I wasted three weeks and two prescription changes from the doctor at this Walmart vision center. The first prescription he neglected to accommodate for my astigmatism. The second prescription, was so bad I could not walk without falling, drive, or even read anything. So I came here for an appointment as this location was in between my work and home. The appointment was fine, but you are treated like cattle. After the glaucoma exam I asked to put my contacts back in and was told no. So I was just sitting there for like 15 minutes past my appointment time. I then said I was getting nauseous and magically I was then called in for my appointment. My new contacts were fine when I left but after wearing them I realized that my left eye was straining. So I called the next morning to ask if I could come back in or if I needed an appointment. The man I spoke to said I could just come in. The following day, here I am being told, that I should have made an appointment. I told the lady that I spoke to someone yesterday that said I could just come in and she said he doesn't work today and doesn't know how busy it gets, but I could wait. I then asked if I could be seen at another location and was told that all the doctors are independent, so that wasn't an option. This is one of the most disorganized optical locations and next time I will find a real office that isn't so chaotic and the employees communicate with each other. read more

Today i went to the Vision care in this walmart when i usually go to the one in carson city. Today i was in reno and it was close to closing , so i wouldn't had made it to the one in carson. Anyways, im new to contacts and wanted to try a different pair. I am prescribed a prescription and told the woman what was going on and she told me no. i think her name was Joyce? she was extreamly rude and put her hand up at me saying it was illegal to try a different contact. i really needed contacts because the ones i have itch my eyes. i don't appreciate the rudeness when i asked politely , it was just a question and was no need for that. read more

Save yourself the time it takes to book an appointment and go someplace else. I booked an appointment here for 11/17/18. Went in, was there 15 minutes early. "Oh, sorry, the doctor called in today." Thanks for the call. Would have been nice to get a call and let me know I didn't need to come down. Rescheduled for today. Called ahead to make sure the doctor is in (because, you know...as a customer, that's my job), and was on hold for ten minutes without hearing from anyone. The optometrist's practice there is a private practice. He leases it from Walmart. Hopefully, not for much longer. I'll take my reliable state insurance plan and its on-time payments elsewhere. read more

The blonde woman is great to deal with but that won't do much good if your prescription is wrong. Doctor got the axis wrong on my right eye so I can't see well out of that eye, I have Astigmatism and this same thing happened the last time I got glasses but that Doctor corrected the prescription and new glasses were made. THIS DOCTOR just told me that I had macular degeneration, and refused to correct the mistake saying it won't help me see. WRONG I see better with an older pair of glasses. No follow up instructions were given for the diagnosis of macular degeneration, a terrible disease that can be slowed down with proper follow up treatment. No referral to a doctor that treats this disease was offered or advised. I cannot recommend this business on the basis of 1 quality employee "the blonde woman" read more

In my previous 5 star reviews I spoke of the honest eye doc and the amazing customer service provided by the blonde woman with glasses. I also told people to avoid the man that works in the sales side because of this terrible customer service. 1)The honest eye doc is no longer there 2) That man with the terrible customer service skills from last time still works there. This time around he had the nerve to complain about me like I wasn't sitting 5 feet from him.He was upset because I accidentally forgot my insurance card at home. I have been coming here for years and years and have always had the same insurance. It was pulled up on their computer in about 15 seconds, yet he had the nerve to complain about it to his co-worker for over 5 minuets straight while I waited clearly in hearing distance.If you have 5min to stand there and complain, you have 15 seconds to look up my info. Geez, sorry. Way to treat one of your few loyal customers. This is the same guy that messed up insurance billing last time (I did have my card) and I had to spend hours on the phone correcting it. He just sucks at his job, especially at customer service. Dude, Just because they are located inside a Walmart doesn't mean they have to provide Walmart Service. I have insurance so I pay the same no matter where I go. The only reason I came here for years and years is because of the old eye doc and the blonde woman with glasses. Even though I said in my review of WalMart that I wouldn't go to the vision center............ I did because I walked in and was immediately seen by the eye Dr who seemed knowledgeable, and was very friendly, as did all the staff. The exam for glasses was about $80. The experience was great till it came time for me to pick out my new frames. I was looking at the Baby Phat frames, told the lady helping me what I was looking for and what I DID NOT want............ then I told her AGAIN.......... then AGAIN. I told her I was not interested in frames that has the "bling" rhinestones on them - because to me thats just NOT my style - even if it is in style I hate it!!!!!!!!! For whatever reason this lady "helping" me continues to hand me frames with bling and I kept telling her I DONT LIKE THE BLING......... I even pointed out what I meant and showed her, and she kept handing me pairs with it........ Finally I said MAYBE YOU NEED YOUR EYES AND HEARING CHECKED because either you cannot see the glasses your handing me are EXACTLY what I've said I DO NOT WANT or your not HEARING ME....... Dr Ferris. Where to start? Made me work to get my diagnosis. He just didn't have those interpersonal skills needed to communicate professionally. I ended up having his assistant Martha, explain his diagnosis. But left extremely unsatisfied. I needed help understanding mono vision with contacts. He kept asking me if I wanted to see up close or far away. I thought, why not both? So, I decided not to spend my money here and popped on over to Lens Crafters. Now that's SERVICE! Not only did they explain his diagnosis they told me how he arrived at his conclusions. I had 1k to spend on new glasses and I'm glad I chose not to spend it here. read more

If you would like to be treated like crap this is a great place to go! I brought my father here for his eye exam and the doctor treated my dad so poorly like my dad was incompetent of knowing what he was saying. The doctor proceeded to storm out of the room with a nasty attitude and grabbed one of his receptionist (she was very nice.) Still my dad knew very well what he was saying. Then the doctor started to talk to me like if I was stupid. I've never been in a business where they treated their customers so poorly. Honestly he should not be working with the public if he doesn't know how to be respectful or mindful of his actions. If I can provide NO stars I would. First of all they told me they accepted my ins , however failed to mention they're not a preferred provider (way to lure in a customer). I had to pay so much since I went out of network.. Not only that , but the Doctor did not even do a great job with my exam. My exam was done literally in 2 minutes.. The older gal that sits right in front of his office told me that I will have a discount if I come back within 3 months for my contacts. So when I called in the next week to schedule an appt "Brian" said there's no such thing.. I finally was able to get a hold of the same lady whom told me that the reason why I get the "discount" is because I do not have to pay for the exam again since it was recently done.. so I just have to pay for contact trail and fitting.. So I went in the next day to have that done. Seriously, the doctor did not even touch me. He came in and just handed me the trial piece. (Supposedly, he's professional and know how to estimate it very well..) Well that is definitely a lie. Because I was unable to see anything at all with these contacts. I called them to let them know and the same gal told me to "make sure to wear your contacts" and come in so Doctor may check it. I literally left work early that day for my appt with them.. Well hey guess what? The doctor came out of his office and made me look stupid.. He said I did not have to wear them. He then said that because my "real" script was out he had to give me script that was closest to my vision... WELL GEEZ THANKS! "Brian" then took my script and ordered me the correct script for my eyes. That was on 5/1/14.. Well today is 5/20/14. I just got off the phone with them and he said it still have not arrived. He said its not in their control. I had to pay extra cash for these darn "Fittings + Trial Piece".. My script will expire in 6 months because of their lame services. The doctor is nothing but a joke!!! After paying an arm and a leg .. I received a bill from them asking for another $16. Where is this coming from?... What a RIP OFF!. neveer ever returning here again! I may not have to sit in the waiting room for long.. But I can see why. The doctor is not even examining you! They are good for a quick pair of glasses. To really get your eyes checked I'd suggest a place with more of an office setting.

I highly recommend the eye glass doctor and the ladies in the vision center. We bought glasses for 3 of my four boys and they were very helpful and have gone out of thier way to fix glasses or get new frames on the spot. read more

I couldn't get into my normal eye Dr for months, so I made an appt here. I had gone here years ago and liked the eye Dr that was here then. I get to this appt and I couldn't believe this exam. I have been wearing classes since I was in 4th grade. I am just a couple months short of being 50. This was the fastest most incomplete eye exam I have ever had in my life. I don't think I was in the room 5 minutes and that includes waiting for this guy to come in. I know the condition of my eyes. I actually have to see specialist. I know I have an astigmatism. He said all is fine you just need a little stronger prescription and he was gone. Half the tests that are normally done were not done. This is the first day is my new glasses that I did purchase elsewhere because the vision center wanted $409 just for my lens and the other Wal-Marts and costco only wanted right at $250 for my lens. I have had the glasses on for hours now and I still can't get use to the new lenses. There wasn't that much of a change that it should be bothering my vision so badly. After reading the reviews about this store and Dr I'm hoping I'm not going to have issues with my prescription, that he was so hurried he didn't get things right. It shouldn't take this long for my eyes to adjust to such a small change. It never has before. When I wear my contacts, on the rare occasions that I do. It never even takes that long for my eyes to adjust to those. I will definitely update if things don't get better with this prescription since the service and exam was just so horrible. Way below standars of what should happen when one is have their eye examined. I WOULD SAY PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS DR. Instead of describing appearances as I've seen in the reviews. My last pair of contacts ripped this morning so i had to get in somewhere today as i hate wearing my glasses. I called one place (the place i take my kids) and they were able to get me in right away, so i booked they but then find out they were pretty expensive. So i called Wal-Mart because i went there once before. I didn't really care about everyone saying this guy didn't seem too friendly because I don't like making small talk so much. The older lady aft the front desk was nice. She asked me some eye translated questions, took measurements of my eye and did that damn air in the eye thing. I liked that she was fast. She took me in the room and said doc would be right with me. He only had me waiting a min. I said hi, he said hi, that was pretty much it. He was not friendly, but not rude. My exam was literally 5 mins long. He only did 3 of those, which one is better, 1 or 2. Even thou I like things fast, i did feel a little like he rushed it. He took me to the front to the nice older lady and didn't say a word. He gave the lady my script. I was confused about what to do next. Here then have me a pair of contacts to get me through till i got more. The exam for contacts was cheaper than other places. Only $109. I wad offering contacts online and had to call back to have the lady explain to me my prescription. All in all, i would totally go back. Got fast service and my contacts. read more

I found this dr. through my Eye insurance listings, Needed new contacts before a work trip. I called and the nurse/receptionist was super sweet lady. she got me in with in 1 day, I drove over 30 miles from my home and we ended up getting there early. She was an older lady with short white hair, sweet as can be got me in early so I wouldn't have to wait the ladys in the frames area were Sweet and joked around with us. When I made my appt I told them I was for contacts due to being out and taking work trip. My copay is 15 but wasn't told about the addtl $ for contacts appt Which still was reasonable but couldn't have given heads up. When I got in to see the dr. He called my name directed (by pointing Not talking) me to the chair, there wasn't a "hows your day" " how are you doin ".. Nothing, He asked if I was there for contacts or glasses I explained contacts, he took 5-7 min did the whole is 1 or 2 better. then less than 5 min to look in to my eyes to see the condition behind the lens. I was in the room less than 15 minutes. He asked if I had any more contacts I explained I was wearing my last pair he stated "i'll go get you a new pair til yours comes in" he gave me a set but the left was not the exact prescription he stated "its the closest I have for you to wear" He did Not have a good attitude I don't know if it was a bad day for him or he's just always cranky but it shows and he was rushing everything. Even my hubby was like WHOA how are you done already, and is it going to be the correct prescription.. Will look for a different dr. for permanent appts. read more

We have a great eye doctor, however the frames and lenses were so expensive and unaffordable at our other place we decided to try here with prescriptions in hand, for my son and my husband (has high index very thick prescription glasses that cost a lot of money), Tom who works here, was very professional, he works at a very fast pace (which is understandable considering how many walk ins they get here), he was able to get not just one but two pair of glasses for my son, and two for my husband and it cost us a fraction of what it would have been had we gone to another place. Tom was fast, nice, knowledgeable, funny, and truly listened to our concerns and needs, he also gave us a discount on my husband's 2nd pair of glasses. Forever we've put off getting his glasses because the cost has been so high, I know now we can do it every year if we go through Walmart. My husband was nearly in tears because he thought truly we wouldn't be able to get him new glasses and he is nearly legally blind, so this made him so happy. Thank you Tom!! read more

I went to the Vision Center because it was over a weekend and my eye doctors office was closed. I thought I might have pink eye. Doctor Boyer appeared to know what he was doing and took care of me. He put me on a drop that cleared my eyes for a few days but by day seven my eyes had swollen so bad, i had bags of water underneath them. When I went back in to him to show him my eyes he said I might have allergies. He never even took out my chart he just asked me to refresh his memory. He told me that this was out of his scope.I went to see my regular doctor and he was astonished to see my eyes in such bad condition. Dr, Boyer left me on the drops way to long.
