Took a stroll from the hiking trail to this year's rendition of Oktoberfest. Admission is free and there were many unique performances and demonstrations by local organizations in addition to booth vendors. A very pleasant way to idle an afternoon. Were also able to check out the Chill Zone (thanks to event tickets won via Yelp). Entry is through an Orange-colored porta potty and there were beer garden typed benches for mingling and a DJ spinning. Mixed drinks were strong but could be mixed more (thoroughly). There was a complimentary tasting of Leon y Sol tequila (very smooth and balanced) which were used in the cocktail menu. Oh My Goodness!!!! This Oktoberfest was So Fun !!!! I was Going To A Private Party In the Park. Afterwards I Bought Some Drink Tickets and Went To Town. The First Five Minutes I Was Chilling Out And I was Approached by A OG Yelp Elite From The South-bay Kelly C !!! I was Surprised She Remembered me ? I Had not seen her for about 10 years!!! Go Figure the East bay is a Small World!!! Half way through the Park, I encountered another Acquaintance Cameron a Gentleman I used to work with at the City!!! lol !!!! There were a lot of Vendors selling stuff like Solar Panels , Beef Jerky, Food and Beer ! I Paced myself and had a Great Time and Some Great Conversations. There was Plenty of Eye Candy!!! Lovely Ladies in Traditional Dress Of Oktoberfest and Even Some Guys Lol !!!! There was a Bunch of Brew Masters selling their Creations of Brews!!! Everyone was Very Happy, Nice and Friendly!!!! This year the honey and I were lucky enough to win a couple early bird cool zone tickets through Yelp and I was super excited because I don't think I'd ever been to Walnut Creek Oktoberfest. The cool zone was a small section behind some faux portable restrooms, and we were gifted two cool zone drink tickets each and a stein for being one of the first 25 in line. Bites in the cool zone were through the German Guys and the honey and I adored their potatoes, schnitzel, and brats! I also really enjoyed the tequila mojito and loved that they had a non-beer option. After grabbing some Yelp swag and heading out into the rest of the fest, we purchased a massive pretzel for the honey and utilized one of the outside drink tickets they'd thoughtfully given us in the cool zone. I also ended up buying another delicious brat but sadly missing the root beer float from Tife since they'd run out of gelato right before I walked up. All in all, we both had an amazing time and will definitely be returning next year! read more

Yelp had an event in the cool zone at the festival. To enter this event we walked through an orange port-a-potty door. Once inside we receive drink tickets and were able to enjoy some German inspired food. The strolling accordionist wearing traditional lederhosen added to the Bavarian atmosphere. After enjoying the Yelp event we wandered into the actual festival. There was live music, food and drink booths, and things to buy, The Yelp event was great and the festival was fun. Oktoberfest is an annual free event put on by the City of Walnut Creek. If you go next year parking isn't easy. read more

This is the 2nd Oktoberfest in Wc , I had been to within the last 3 years. I had recently won drink tickets for the "Chill Zone" via Yelp. It was a great day to check out the Oktoberfest and we got a late start after 1pm. We parked a little far away up on Main St. ,but walkable and easy access since it was free admission. The place had quite a few outside vendors non food and Drink booths. Lots of live music and events during our venture there and we were able to purchase our Beer Steins and check out booths. We checked out a few booths and wound up getting some candles and Kettle Corn, while we waited for our Time slot for the Zone. The premise was a free hour of us hanging Vip style in a Deejay Speakeasy with drinks and food provided by German guys. It was a easy going, relaxing hour provided by ECM Gina from Yelp who hosted a few special Yelpers for the Complimentary hour. We made only a few rounds after our stay in the "Chill Zone" Thanks to Yelp and Wc Oktoberfest for hosting us at another fun Beer Adventure. read more

Walnut Creek Oktoberfest has been around for more than a decade. It used to called OktoberCreekfest and was held on Locust St. Some years ago, it was moved to the nearby Civic Park. This annual 2-day event usually takes place on the last weekend of September. I was present for this year's edition on 09/27/2024. For a Friday night, it was well attended. Admission was free. Glassware and drink tickets were available for purchase at on-site ticket booths. On the pro side, there were a good number of vendors selling alcoholic beverages and food, jewelry, art pieces, hats, professional services, etc. Entertainment wise, the music was good, and there were activities for kids to partake in. On the con side, there were no paramedics on site. Con Fire and AMR had to respond multiple times for people who needed medical assistance related to heat exhaustion. Also, it would have been nice to have more lighting in the trail area near the back. Tipsy people walking on a dark gravel trail is not ideal. Overall, it was an enjoyable event. Hopefully, they will continue to improve in the years to come. read more

My first Oktoberfest! Came here last weekend through a Yelp Elite event at the Chill Zone, where I was able to bring a guest. The park seemed like the right spot for the event -- it's just the right size based on the crowd. In addition to beer, there were cocktails at the Chill Zone and wine at some spots. There were two entertainment stages and a DJ, all well spaced out from each other. Plus lots of seating in front of the stages for people to eat, drink and hang out. The one thing to be mindful of is parking -- we were able to find a spot quickly at one of the lots for $10 but I imagine most people had to find street parking. Overall, we stayed for 6 hours, so you could say we had a good time! read more

This was a nice event in easily accessible Civic Park. Easy to take BART and catch the County Connection Free Ride or park in the Lesher Center garage for a short walk. Free admission to check out the local vendors and enjoy the entertainment on stage or the acrobatic entertainers. In addition to the headline German beer sponsors Weihenstephan and Erdinger there were several local breweries and taprooms offering ticketed beer pours. The Chill Zone was a cool little spot with a speakeasy-like feel that required you to enter through a portapotty door for a secret bar and DJ lounge. Good German food offerings, especially the mega pretzel stand, but overall limited food vendors and limited shade outside of the Biergarten tents. Loved the Joybound adoption van with quiet dogs and cats getting adopted throughout the event. I'd come back again next year. read more

I had a lot of fun at this "Oktoberfest." I did knock off one star because of the lack of vegetarian options. I think there was just one vendor that had semi-vegetarian food, mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms and zucchini. Other than that, bouncy houses for the kids, and real German beer for the adults. With the sincerity and small town charm of a PG-13 rated Norman Rockwell painting, Downtown WC's triple word score worthy OktoberCreekFest delivered about as entertaining a night as you'd expect for a Friday in Tri Valley. This annual block party occurs on Locust Street and features local businesses serving up a limited menu of German inspired cuisine and of course plenty of suds. Each drink (beer or wine) comes out to $5 each, unless you buy 5 tickets for $20, which guarantees your 5th drink is free if you can make it that far or feel like doing something silly like 'sharing.' I started my night off with the Raderberger Pilsner. Now you'd figure a beer who's motto is "Raise Your Standards" would taste better than a watered down German version of Bud Light, but sadly this was not the case. I don't know, ,maybe they were trying to be ironic and cool? Sadly I left my outlandish hipster glasses and suede pumas at home, and couldn't appreciate the joke. Things improved markedly with the Spaten Lager, which despite being a lighter beer still had some bite and teeth to it, which I appreciated. My favorite of the night was definitely the Alleycat Amber being served up at the Stanford's booth. Its full bodied flavor helped me get over those other forgettable beers and paired quite nicely with my oh so crispy and undoubtedly deep fried 'authentic' German corn dog. The entertainment for the evening was provided by the Houserockers, because what's an Oktoberfest without live music (a bunch of drunks meandering around aimlessly that's what)? This group totally disproved their name, and were able to rock despite being outdoors in the business district without a single house in sight. They played a mix of classic rock and soul, delivering a stirring rendition of Sweet Home Alabama because that's how we roll in the south (of CoCo County). I don't really drink beer, but somehow I ended up at this fucking thing today. Awesome event if you're into old, bloated white men and sausages. Who knew there was an Oktoberfest in Walnut Creek? Apparently there is, and they put the "Creek" in it to make sure you know you're not in San Francisco. Like you wouldn't if you went here. It's like a small scale street fair. We enjoyed live music by The Houserockers, a small variety of beers -- liked the Spaten Dark versus the Oktoberfest Light (1 for $5 or 5 for $20), and food such as sausages and corn dogs at OktoberCreekFest in Downtown Walnut Creek! They also have wine for those who do not imbibe in beer. The event takes place on Locust Street (between Cypress St. & Mt. Diablo Blvd) from 5:00pm - 10:00pm on Friday night, and Saturday from 12:00pm - 4: 00pm, and then 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Local businesses set up booths along Locust, where you can peruse their wares, and they close off the small stretch of downtown so the locals can party. For a free event in Downtown Walnut Creek, it's not too bad. I heard that on Saturday, it's more large scale, with mid-day shoppers stopping by for a brew, and families coming out for the fun. read more

Considering its diminutive size, it wasn't all that bad. Considering its diminutive size, it wasn't all that great. I saw two food stands (there were probably more), and got something from each stand. One place had the crunchiest corndog I've ever eaten, which was a nice surprise. The other had a "sausage" with some cabbage and potato salad, which was just okay. The music was really loud (well, my friends and I were standing pretty close) and we could see a toddler jamming out to the beats. There was a good mixture of younger people hanging out, and a few oldies. Overall it was okay, but I think next time I'm going to head out to San Francisco for some good eats. read more
