Had my appointment and it went fine. They told me my glasses would take 7-10 days and they would let me know when they were ready. It's been 3.5 weeks and they won't answer my calls and haven't called me back. Their doors are locked so you can't even get in to check in person. At this point I don't even know what to do. Dr, Nguyen has been my eye doctor for many years now. I trust her knowledge, experience, advice, and wisdom. I would like to say that I really enjoyed meeting this doctor. Dr. Nguyen is very professional and nice. I went to her to figure out a problem I was having with dizziness and my vision's. It was a process of elimination for me. I had all the tests done and she was very helpful in explaining how the tests work. After the tests I found out that I have really good vision. I almost wish I had an eye problem so that I could have her as my doctor. ;-) I have a PPO insurance and it does not cover vision however it allowed me a discount. Dr. Nguyen's staff explained in advance the tests that were going to be ran and how much it would cost me. When I paid at the end, there were no extra fees. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because it was just one visit and 5 stars to me means you have been there more then once and can count on it being excellent everytime. ;-) Thank You Dr. Nguyen and Your Staff, I will recommend you! read more

Dr. Nguyen is wonderful, really personable, intelligent, and I always feel like I'm well taken care of. This is probably why I haven't changed eye doctors since I moved to San Jose, and have been driving to Walnut Creek for my appointments every year. When I had LASIK a few years back, I was in the office a lot, and ended up meeting several of the other Optometrists in the office as well. Could it be as simple as needing Vision Therapy? When your child is reading, if they tilt their head or cover an eye, or simply seems not able to be able to focus, I recommend checking into whether or not your child is struggling with "tracking" while reading. Or perhaps they have a limited field of vision and can see the teacher, but miss the homework written in the margin of the wipe board. Such simple stuff, right? Wrong. The vision tests administered by school checks only for the basics. Educators look for these other signs, yet they may not know who to refer students to for further evaluation. We were referred to specialist Dr. Bach-Kim Nguyen of Walnut Creek Optometry Group for special eye therapy. She uses a number of tools for evaluation, but most impressive was a set of specialized goggles that tracks the students reading. Dr. Nguyen showed me on the monitor the results, which displayed the reading text and a little red light/tracking ball which can determine if your child is skipping words or entire paragraphs! No wonder reading is difficult or boring for some if they skip paragraphs and don't get the concepts of the document! The eye therapy worked wonders and we are thrilled! Wow. Dr. Nguyen is the best you can get. I live in the Bay Area now and needed to get some eyeglasses so I just looked up doctors who accepted my insurance. I called her office and her staff immediately took down my information, set up an appointment for the same day, and contacted me 5 minutes later with my coverage details. When I arrived I waited only long enough to fill out my new patient information and then I was in the back having tests run. When Dr. Nguyen came in she was laughing and cracking jokes. She treated me like a life long friend or family member. After the tests were done SHE brought me to the front, SHE helped me pick out glasses for my face shape, SHE fitted them and SHE calculated my costs for me. Dr. Nguyen is the first person to get my prescription eye glasses right. Everything is clear and looks the proper distance away. Every other eye doctor made me glasses and contacts that made things look too close or too far away. Dr. Nguyen and her staff was friendly, helpful, and got everything right. I met Dr. Nguyen on a Lions mission trip to provide eye care and glasses to the needy in Navolato, Mexico. Since I'm currently an optometry student, she graciously invited me to come shadow her at her practice. I have to say it was a great experience to see how caring she is toward her patients-- she genuinely tries to find the best solutions to her patient's problems. This is by far the best place to have your vision checked. State of the art equipment to include OCT Scan. The staff is beyond accommodating, friendly, happy and will not let you walk out off the office with a frame style that does not fit your face. I was told that their only way of advertising is to make sure that the frame selected fits perfectly and looks great on a patient. Dr. Nguyen is a wonderful and very caring person. I've had eye exams done quite a few times from the East coast to the West coast. Dr. Nguyen and her office by far is the best optometry place. Dr. Nguyen is warm and welcoming. She shows the most experience and is willing to explain to me what is going on with my vision. Every single person working in the front office is friendly, efficient and very accommodating. Since I've been to many eye exams, I understand the way things work around optometrist's offices. There will be upsale, period. I was not surprised or caught off guard when I was offered something else that was beyond the basics. What I like about this place is that they politely asked me whether I wanted those additional features or not without putting any pressure on me. Everything was spelt out and broken down per item. They told me exactly what would be covered by my insurance, what would be my out of pocket. Since everything was itemized, I was able to pick what I wanted exactly. I did not feel pressured into paying for something I was not sure if I needed or not. What has impressed me the most about Dr. Nguyen and her staff is how comfortable they made me feel when I was still deciding whether I wanted to do vision therapy for my son with them. Since the service is not covered by our insurance, I really had to take some time weighing all the pros and cons. It took me pretty much two months to decide to fully commit. Dr. Nguyen and her staff have been discreet and patient with us. We've been working with Dr. Nguyen for a few sessions and I'm now convinced I've made the right decision doing this for my son. He really needs it. Dr. Nguyen and her staff have made us feel at home every time we came in, which is pretty often with my son's exams and therapy and my exam. After many many years of seeing this eye doctor, I had a negative experience and want to warn others. I ordered swim googles about ten months ago. While swimming, the edge of one lens cracked off. I called to get a repair under the one year warranty. The co-owner and office manager told me he would not honor it. First he said there was a piece missing so it wouldn't be honored. I said I wasn't responsible if a piece fell off when it broke. Then, he changed to saying I had "abused the googles" so wouldn't honor it. When I asked how a person abuses goggles, he was silent. After standing up for myself for 15-20 minutes he finally agreed to replace the one lens. When i picked them up I was told sternly it would only be honored that one time. I called Dr. Nguyen to tell her how disappointed I was. Never got an apology. Don't feel comfortable giving them my business after this poor customer service. Be careful. read more

Came here for an eye exam after my other optometrist stopped taking my insurance and found the staff pleasant and welcoming while Dr. Nguyen was professional and knowledgeable. Everything was done with the utmost efficiency: as soon as I walked in the door, a staff member greeted me and immediately helped with the new patient paperwork, proceeded to run two refraction tests, and had me sit in a room to wait for Dr. Nguyen. Dr. Nguyen herself was very prompt and came almost immediately. She was very thorough with her exams and even corrected my previous prescription just slightly to help improve with the strain I felt after wearing glasses. She has a very warm personality and I immediately felt at ease, despite not being familiar with optometry appointments (had only one other appointment in my life). I would love to refer the rest of my family members here for her services, but sadly nobody else has my insurance. My entire family has been seeing Dr. Nguyen for many years. I just sort of picked her out of the telephone book, but I consider myself very lucky that I found her. I have a very unusual problem that had never been corrected properly by any other eye doctor, optometrist or ophthalmologist. She had a very simple solution to my problem and it has worked wonderfully. She has been able to restore the sight in one of my eyes from 20/200 to 20/40. Although the office is small, they have a wonderful selection of frames and are very helpful in assisting with selection. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and they know us when we come in or call. I just took my 12 year old daughter, who has special needs, into see Dr. Nguyen and I couldn't have been more pleased. She was so caring and knew how to work with my daughter to complete the eye exam. I could see how she went the extra steps to make sure she was interpreting my daughters responses correctly and was also diligent in asking me lots of questions to get her background. It was hard to find reviews on good optometrists in the Lamorinda Walnut Creek area. I found Dr. Bach-Kim Nguyen on the VSP insurance website, and was able to get fit in on the same day I called. When I went into my appointment, I was completely taken by surprise the minute she started talking to me. Dr. Nguyen noticed I had been reading the magazine in my hand too close to my face, and immediately started scolding me in a caring way, explaining how much strain I was placing on my eyes. Now, if I could describe her in four words - here you go: warm, informative, thorough and engaged. If all that wasn't enough, she spent plenty of time examining and educating me on best practices for my eyes. This was a big change for me, since I've always been used to doctor's rushing me out. I didn't know it until I looked her up online afterwards, but she came from excellent schooling: UC Davis for undergrad, and UC Berkeley for her phd. I've never met an optometrist that I liked, and I usually dread going to any doctor's appointments, mostly because I feel people in the medical field are just so impersonal and uncomfortable to be around.
