Why only the 4 stars you ask, well one thing I strongly disliked about this whole experience was the vagueness of dates and time frames. I would suggest that you nail down some firm deadlines of work to be completed. I was very excited when they started and was told it would take 4 days to complete, so I assumed 4 days in a row, well no, I understand things such and gates need to be built after everything else is up, but I am no carpenter and assumed it would all be done in the time frame. Well they did 2 days in a row and then 2 days in the next 2 weeks. It wouldn't have been so bad if it had been laid out clearly from the beginning, which I feel as a company that should be done. We also ended up with a broken piece of walkway cement, which they did come back and fix. I did feel that we had to ask him what was going to be done to fix it, which I feel he should have contacted us and said "hey the walkway got broken today, we will be back to fix it." but he said nothing until we mentioned it. Yeah so he said he fully intended to come and back and fix it, but still word work much better before you had to ask for them. They had to wait until warmer weather to fix this issue, and again we received no notice that they would be coming by and they showed up when my parents where in town with my handicapped grandmother, fortunately I caught them before any work was done, cause we would not have been able to get my grandmother out of the house with the wet cement. But with all this said and done I would have them back to do more fencing and we have actually recommended to my boyfriend's parents. I understand a lot of what I have wrote here are personal pet peeves but I think people should just be aware that they need to be clear on dates and expectations and firm in their needs.

I even called another fence company that said he would charge the exact same but was not going to be available for months so to go with Mr. Fence. We signed the quote and sent the deposit. We waited about a month which was when they said they would be available. I called each week after that only to be told we would be on the schedule the following week. Two months later they send out the installation worker who had no idea what the plan was and says he has to come back as this was not what he was expecting. They repairs the fence... I guess you could call it that... but they left over a 1 foot gap touching the ground at the bottom. I explained we were getting a puppy and the whole point of the fence is to keep our animals in and other animals out. They sent another installation worker the following week who fixed it and I would say it looked crappy but it worked. Less than a year later and parts of the fence that were supposedly soldering together have already come apart. I will definitely go elsewhere if we get those areas repaired.

Then, after you have given them thousands of dollars, they drag their feet and refuse to schedule the job until you jump through additional hoops that were never spoken about prior to the 50% deposit. And since they have your money now, with little way to get out of it unless you sue them, you have no power to make them do what they are supposed to do. Even after that, more over-promise and under-deliver. they convinced me to let them install ahead of another yard contractor, saying they would do install the next week if I let them go first, and then backed out on the promised timeframe via text after it was too late to get the other contractor (landscaper) back in time. (and the delay will likely now turn into AT LEAST 2 additional weeks because the following week is now supposed to rain all week. I paid them over a month ago. I still have no fence and no scheduled install date. - Please don't hire these scammers. Or if you do, don't pay them a cent without a guaranteed install.

Covered up his gear at the end of the day as well. Sales process exceeded my expectations as well, Jack went out of his way to walk and paint the fence line with me because I couldn't be there the day of the install. They installed two fences in my neighborhood as well a couple of years ago. Those fences flex about as a solid steel flag pole. I don't understand how they do it with just tamping the ground. Cost wise they were 70% of Perfection Fence and Home Depot. I can't recommend them strongly enough. As for the person upset the receptionist hung up on them, I know I'm not a saint at least a couple days a year either. If they had called back they would have been treated fine.

His price was not the lowest I got but seemed fair and he seemed confident and knowledgeable. We signed a contract to remove and replace my dilapidated wood fence with a new horizontal panel wood fence. I was so excited since I had been waiting years to be able to afford it. He scheduled me in and showed up as expected. There were a few hiccups along the way - which truly should have been an indication that this would not end well but it was too late by then. He seemed understanding and did redo the issue though I still felt uneasy because it wasn't good, just better than it had been. Sadly it just still isn't up to par as the tops of the posts aren't level so the top of the fence has peaks and valleys that just make it look sloppy. The posts are spaced so unevenly- some 8ft others like 4-5 ft which he claims is because my yard was hard to dig in and assured me multiple times that once he was done you wouldn't see the posts at all. That was because he was planning to put the good side facing into my yard... what kind of fence professional would do that without asking- I had to have him change it around and thank god I did otherwise you'd see this monstrosity from the street. He used 5x5 posts (that I can't be sure are even fence posts, they look more like landscape timbers) but the top rail that's supposed to make it look finished doesn't cover the whole top of the post and since the posts are unlevel there are big gaps between them and the top rail, that I imagine will cause issues (trap moisture/ debris/ cause warping). The gate that Jose built is absolutely huge and absurdly heavy, it was sagging within a couple days after install and he had to come back to make adjustments. I asked for more heavy duty hinges since the gate is just so huge. It's about 48" wide, I don't know why- I never said I wanted it wide (normal size to fit my trash barrels thru would have been fine). He did put much bigger hinges on. The top of the top hinge isn't attached to anything/ sticks up over top of the fence). Unfortunately he stripped most of the screws and used mismatched ones- others he never installed. Well the gate already started sagging again, wobbles the entire run of fence it's attached to everytime it's opened/ closed and you have to jam it to shut. I sent a msg to Jose (fence has been up a couple weeks now and I really tried to not complain again but it's just that bad) he did not reply until I have him a 2 star review on Thumbtack where I hired him. He came back again and claimed he would rebuild the gate and switch the side it hangs on at my request. I asked him to make the fence level- like am I using the wrong word or something... because he said to do that it would be 6ft on one end and 4ft at the other. Umm I just mean have the top straight and not waving up and down. He also had a very emotional response when he came back- like sorry if your feelings are hurt but I don't think expecting decent workmanship is unreasonable. He was acting like he did me a favor and I should just be grateful. Bottom line is he did shoddy work that I paid almost 7k for. And now I have to have a real fence company come fix his mistakes which will cost me who knows how much more.

Robert was a referral from my next door neighbor. I saw how quickly they finished the roof a few…read moreyears ago at a competitive price so I decided to reach out for a quote. He came by, spent about 10 min walking around, rang the doorbell and gave me a sheet of paper with the quote. Easy and painless as that. I asked for roof quote and got exactly what I wanted. He did not need to come inside or make me listen to a 2 hr sales pitch. I've had at least 2 other companies who tried to do that when I was getting a roof for the quote. 1 of them gave me a quote on sidings instead. The other did not even give me a quote because I decided to kick them out after half an hr. After getting some other quotes I decided to go with Robert and he agreed to come out 2 weeks later. His crew came on time as promised but he wasn't physically there until the end of the day. Overall his crew was efficient. They finished within 1 day as promised. The shingles looked okay, not as flat or even like our neighbors but it appeared to be just fine. They finished the roof before a big snow storm and rain/wind storm within the same week. It was able to withstand everything just fine and no noticeable water leak or anything in the attic. I did discovered a small chipped wood area in the attic which I can see some of the underlayment and shingles but water was not getting through or anything. I will continue to monitor. They actually was supposed to install the chimney as well forgot so they returned a few days later to complete it as promised. Overall fantastic job from Robert and his crew. From the quoting process to the fast efficient work. Cosmetically the shingles could have looked a bit better and more even but functionally it seems to have served its purpose and was worth it for the price I paid.
