WARNING!!! When I first arrived I walked into The Barn a nursery nextdoor to the Tenino-- Old Highway 99 location . The man behind the counter was complaining to a coworker because the soil he received from Walrath wasn't what he ordered and he was worried it would contaminate his garden with chemicals. I should have heeded overhearing his warning! THEN, when I asked about bindweed the sales associate said "Oh yeah that soil", pointing to a large pile of fill, "is full of bindweed, we're practically dumping it on people." Ordered 13 cubic yards of Silver Springs compost because it is certified to be fully composted. I didn't order it blended with their top soil as they suggested to prevent contamination. When the delivery truck dumped a whole truck load of fill dirt instead of the compost i ordered I called them immediately. Had i not corrected them they would have left me with the topsoil. So yes they then brought me the compost I ordered and left the huge pile of dumped soil "for free". As the dumped topsoil began to wash down with the rain it is completely full of garbage, Im talking tons of plastic and broken glass. If I was associated with Silver Springs i would be concerned this practice could tarnish their name as well! On the phone they said they don't think theres anything they can do. We have used Walrath from loads of wood chips, dirt, bark, etc. First of all: EXCELLENT customer service! I am so happy everytime I go there I get excellent respect, they truly want to help you and they are very knowledgeable. It gives me faith in the fact that Customer service still is alive. Initially ordered 3/4 minus crushed gravel for walkways, gave them the measurements and just the right amount was delivered quickly. A sales person was also very helpful with information on product choices for this project, ensuring I made the right decision. Next I ordered fine mulch, again gave them the measurements and this time 3x more than I needed was delivered. In short, the manager/owner took no responsibility for the error and I was stuck with $450 of mulch I did not need and could not get rid of. To boot, it was infested with forest and carpenter ants so now I have to spend extra $ to try and knock these down without harming my plants or pets. read more

Negative comment about Erin Rockery in Gig Harbor/Walrath Landscaping Supply seriously needs to update the options on how they accept money. I went in and couldn't find my regular cash cash but no worries I had a lot of quarters from cleaning out my three change collector areas in my car and needed to get rid of them anyway. Needed a load of bark (cost $27). Lady tells me sorry I can't take your quarters. Really u don't want my money? Okay so can I please split part card (had my old an old debit card i rarely use that still had $23 in acct) part quarters? she tells me I can't split how I pay. REALLY??? I have paid part card, part cash many times at various places. Wth? Pissed absolutely..... I will totally be shopping other places for my landscaping supplies from now on. Ridiculous!!!! (You ask why not just pay all on card. Because I didn't have my regular debt card with me. Was in my work pants at home and only had my old debt card in my wallet and there wasn't quite enough to cover the total. And they were closing in 25min not enough time to go home and get.) Now I am really pissed off. TOTALLY PISSED OFF. Got an alarm from my bank. SHE Tried TO TAKE THE TOTALLY PRICE OUT OF THE ONE DEBT CARD THAT I Told HER to only take $20 out of. I ONLY HAD $23 DOLLAR IN that account and she has put my account in the negative by charging $29+ cgange. She put it through and didn't cancel it. Yet turned me away. I left went to my brother in law and got money and went back just before they closed n paid cash. Yet she took money from my account anyway. Total CRAP. Now I'm beyond livid.... I didn't want to give any stars but you have to pick at least one. I have over the many years in Gig Harbor, liked Erin Rockery.....i will be going g elsewhere from now on. Sad and pathetic! Tuesday July 5 UPDATE: Called this morning and talked to someone named Evans who refused to give me three contact info for the owner but did give me the first name of the manager (Jessie) however refused to give me Jessie's last name or contact number. Said he would have Jessie call me. Evans told me that if I didn't want my card charged I shouldn't have handed it to the cashier. Even though I was clear that I only wanted $15 charge to the card.... He blamed me for handed it to her and wouldn't acknowledge that she was wrong in attempting to charge more then I authorized. Then Jessie e manager called me and states that she only attempted to charge my card $15 once and that it was denied. LIE LIE LIE. I had already talked to my bank and she tried to run the card twice once for $29.43 and then get this any a second time for $30.16 of which Bank of America says that second attempt flag the account as someone trying to commit fraud so they refused it. However, the $29.43 was pending. Not once did the manager apologize for the fact the the cashier should not have charged the card the FULL amount when asked not to. Instead he insisted that they only attempted a $15 charge. My bank denied that there was any $15 attempt. Anyway the bank says they will take care of it for me. What a crock of crap....Walrath is truly pathetic in the customer service Dept...... especially in this case. They would rather lose a good customer then admit that they did anything wrong. Never ever again will I use Erin Rockery/Walrath landscape Supply for anything. They are in serious denial. read more

Generally I've had good experiences at Walrath and have shopped with them many times. Today was a completely different experience, though maybe we can chalk it up to the stress of the pandemic. The website wasn't clear on the new way the yard is operating due to social distancing, and that isn't a huge deal. But the treatment I got from the loader was. I was on the phone with the office and was specifically directed to drive over to the pile. I asked if I should get out of line and drive across the scale to get there. The woman on the phone told me to do exactly that. When I did, the loader drove over and gave me a stern talking-down to that "there's a line in this yard, don't cut the line". The attitude was very condescending, even after I told him that I was only doing what I was instructed to do by the office. Not cool. I'm hoping this is a one -off due to the stress of being busy and having to do things differently to protect staff and clients. But it will cause me to think about doing business elsewhere. read more
