Wow! I mean wow! We got there and thought okay...then Ben greeted us and took the time to walk us through all the options! I have to say there were so many options it was a little overwhelming to figure it out on our own...okay I just wanted it all!!! So much beautiful flowers and plants to choose from. My partner and I decide to visit Raft Island Roses last week to see what the place was like. We had never been before. We loved the place! Kind of a funky entry and looked a bit disheveled. That's to be expected the first week of October. We met the owner (I believe). He was cordial and told as lot about the nursery and the rose hybridizing they do there. He gave us free range to explore, which we loved. We found some potted dahlias that looked a bit shabby but healthy and strong. We got a surprising discount on those. We also found some roses that we got at an excellent price. We realized it was well past the gardening season and didn't expect anything to be flourishing and beautiful. However, we have been gardening long enough to understand that judicious pruning and a bit of TLC can bring healthy plants to bursting life. We definitely plan on being back in February when the new rose stock arrives. This nursery will be on our must go to list when gardening season is back in full swing. I also bought some flourishing Swiss chard plants in 4" pots. I had been trying to get some seedlings going at home but they're taking their time getting going. Buying some already healthy, good sized plants will ensure I have some chard for the winter. read more

I made the mistake of asking for a rose bush for my august birthday, Too late in the season, I guess. Still hopeful, we went to Raft Island Roses....big mistake. First, very inaccessible for a disabled person. Second, all the roses lumped together - most with no designation of type, name, etc. and obviously not well cared for. Most didn't even have a picture of what the rose would look like let alone an identification! And customer service was non-existent. we tried to ask for help but no one was helpful at all. No one seemed to even care. No, I didn't get my rose bush but we certainly were not going to buy what little else was available there! read more

Do not be deceived by the appearance of the nursery. You will NEVER find more cared for, more healthy collection of exotic colors of roses in your life. And at an extremely reasonable price.
