I don't live here, but was visiting a good friend. She said she needed something for her chickens, so, Wilco Farm Store, here we went. They sell everything here!! Clothes, animal food, farming supplies, horse food, horse supplies, boots, and chickens! Real live chickens. I couldn't stand it they were so cute. I considered moving to Gig Harbor Washington, so I could buy a chicken and possible a horse. Also, I considered the cowboy boots too! But, alas, I am a California girl, through and through. Maybe next time, I will meet a cowboy who will....I digress! Whoa, anyway, this store is huge, fun and so many things to distract you. I will buy my friend a baby chick and ask her if I can keep it at her place. Ha! The only store I can compare this too is like a huge... Nothing! I have never been to a store like this. This review is specifically about the Dog Groomers at Wilco Farm Store. I've taken my dog there a few times, bath & nail trim. No issues, he doesn't seem upset when I pick him up. But today I was horrified by what I saw and heard there! I was waiting with my dog and two other dogs were being groomed, basically 10-12 feet away. This one poor dog looked terrified. Suddenly he started screaming, it was clear the groomer had cut one of his nails too close, she was working fast and rough. She had ear buds and I don't think she heard him scream, but he tried to pull away. She saw my face though! I was getting freaked out. She didn't slow down or try to soothe the little dog. She just grabbed some powder and roughly sort of pounded it on the dog's injured paw, which made him or her scream again. I looked right at her and she said, "It doesn't bother him!" Unbelievable! No wonder the music is always loud in there, to cover the poor dogs' misery. I will not take my dog back there. read more

I was able to walk in today and get my dogs nails clipped right away on the spot despite being busy with other dogs! It was $23 for cut and dremmel which I thought was a great price compared to having my vet do it. I have driven by this store a million times meaning to go into look at their nursery and plant pots but never have. I walked around the store while my dog was getting his nails trimmed. What a cool place.... Part pet store, part hardware store, nursery, clothing... it was just so cool! I'll be stopping by Wilco a lot more often! read more

The staff and store are great. The groomers are the worst. Do not take your dog here if you love your pet. Not only is the grooming staff extremely rude. They have injured our dog twice. The first time we thought it was a mistake. Our dog came home with hot spots from the groomer using a hot clipper and burning our dog. They gave us a long winded excuse. Then a few months later they cut our dog. I notice blood all over our car from her foot and ear when I got home. read more

Unless...your pet is super-sensitive to load noises (LOUD dryers in pet holding area). They have special ropes you can use to make a bear bag when retreating into the dense forest and giving civilization the finger with one hand, fist pumping with the other, making a freedom roar and disappearing into a thicket like sasquatch. Wilco also has seeds for growing micros on old paper towels or in the moist fur of an elderly shelty who is too slow to protest being turned into a living chia pet for the purpose of survival of the hoomans. Hey buddy, it's better than what Han Solo did to the Paw Paw on the ice planet when he and Luke had to climb into it when Luke became ill and started hallucinating and then cut off the arm of the abominable snow man. At Wilco, we stood in line with Winston in the perambulator. He did NOT lick his paw the entire time, so he was rewarded with dry kibble. (This is our toddler, not the chia dog). Chicks were peeping and squeaking and pooping everywhere, but Mr. Paws didn't notice because he can't hear. I wanted to buy a metal pail, but saw that the pail seams were glued, not welded using the TIG or ARC method. Galvanized my arse! Blue sticky tape on the floor kept everyone apart, and in our apartness we were all together. If Mr. Paws sleeps this afternoon, we'll have him completely planted in time for a late spring harvest. He will be paid in dry kibble, Thank you, Wilco. read more

Have been disappointed with my shopping experiences here as of late. It seems that there are plenty of associates but no customer service. Went in to buy some lady bugs and took the empty tub from the aisle to check but I guess the bugs were on another aisle rather than at a fridge near check out. I don't appreciate getting the run around when it comes to buying stuff so I opted to get them at another store. I am probably gonna do that with pretty much everything else in the future. The customer service has gone downhill rapidly. This afternoon, it was staffed by two young men and one older gentleman left to his own devices in the supply yard. The two inside were not particularly pleasant, and the cashier, besides having to research the number of inches in six feet, saw fit to make a flippant remark quite loudly before a line of customers about people who wear masks. The older man doing the loading had no clue where anything was. He required my assistance to find the fencing, and proceeded to load the wrong size of fence post. It seemed he was not accustomed to working in such a place and I felt rather sorry for him. This place has come so far from what it used to be after they first bought out Strohs. They are well-supplied for farm needs, but after today's pathetic service, I will not return. read more

I typically love Wilco and enjoy trips there however will not be going back to the Gig Harbor store. Staff is always seemingly grumpy and unhelpful in my numerous trips out. Last time I was excited and put off all my horses bi-weekly necessities off until a Monday to get in on the Military Monday promotion only to find out that that is strictly a Bremerton store thing (they wouldn't even entertain the idea of accommodating my request not even the once having asked them if they would honor the promotion that time) - so being a retired disabled marine corps veteran I will go out to Bremerton instead.. Staff out there is exceptional and they go the extra mile. Gig harbor shouldn't even have a store as far as I'm concerned.. I've had too many encounters with rude staff to want to go back to this particular store. read more

Staff is consistently so much more help than local big box stores. Real hardware you need. Feed, tack, plants, hummingbird feeders, and the absolute best place for fencing. Always clean. We take our dog there for nail trims every 3-4 weeks. She enjoys going and they do a great job. We also buy lots of plants/soils/herbs from here as well as paint. The problem is that the service has really diminished! I brought my pup in today and the lady was telling me that there would be a "sliding scale" price. I've never had that, it was always just one straight forward price. Next I go into the garden center and we are talking about transplanting and the woman is giving me ideas. In mid-conversation, a guys interrupts us with his own questions about weed killer. She allows it, stops our conversation (which was nearing the end) and goes to help them! It was so rude! I tell you-they need to realize that the customer who they are with is the priority, finish with them first before you go on to someone else. It's just the respectful thing to do. There is something that is really changing here...and not for the better! read more

Very disappointed on how the 'Garden mang." Handled our question. We bought some plants. Sign said dozen for "$9.99"" So we grab some in our cart Huge line for check out. Our total is over $240....we questioned the items, and we said its $9.99 for 12, not each. So cashier called up garden manager, and she told us in front of all: " No! the sign in back is not confusing at all, it used to be, and we changed it". In other words, you both are stupid, and wrong! We are both in the service industry, and that could have been handled in a much friendlier way. I was around when Stroh's was the smaller front building and the community outdoor riding arena was across the street.16 was two lanes, and one could ride the old nag back and forth across it safely, etc. Stroh's was customer service back then. I live in Port Orchard and had to go online to purchase a large poultry waterer, as TSC didn't have any (What?!!) and all I could find was Wilco in Gig Harbor had (17) Little Giant gallon set with top and bottom, in the store. Yea, Wilco! (or so I thought). I drove for 20 minutes to Wilco, Gig Harbor, to find only the bottle part of the waterer on the shelf. I couldn't find any store assistance so I had to stand in checkout line and wait for at least 10 minutes before I could ask, "where are the 17 posted online?". Then, I waited another good 15 minutes or more while the checkout lady radioed for back up to have someone find the 17. She asked if she could put me aside to assist other customers checking out. I complied happily. Finally I get the, "I'm sorry. We do not have them". And that was it. No offer to assist me in an alternative, rain check, etc. Being that they can't manage their inventory online and that is what brought me there in the first place. Nothing. Why yes... yes, you are sorry. A very sorry example of what has become of what was a once great place to do business. read more

If you love your pet PLEASE READ: I took my Australian shepherd here to be groomed 3 months ago last March. He has been groomed at other facilities but this was his first time at Wilco. He went in willingly with no issues. When I picked him up he was yelping, frightened, shaking, and could not wait out of the store. When we got outside, he had diarrhea. He remained frightened FOR A WEEK! he didn't want to eat or leave our side. I thought, "Well maybe he just doesn't like the groomers anymore." TODAY I took him to Critter Clippers off of Stinson. It's a small family owned business, very nice lady. When I picked him up he was in good spirits. He was happy as can be. No issues. CONCLUSION: Wilco abused my dog in some way. I will never step foot in that Wilco again and I hope they aren't abusing other shy, timid, sweet dogs. read more

Way understaffed. Line is always to back of store no matter if its a weekend or week day. Takes a good 10-15 minutes to get assistance from anyone, so pray you don't need anything that is out of reach or locked up. read more

We have taken our Shitzu's here several times & they have done an amazing job until the last time I took them & a new groomer groomed them, a couple of weeks later I noticed one of my dogs limping, turns out they hadn't clipped his nails & two had grown into his paws!!!
